Very thankful for a cooler day and we missed a couple of heavy rains.  Did I mention we spotted two deer in the ravine?

We are so grateful for our family.  It wasn't the easiest time having four children to watch and raise - they loved the place on the lake in a village of 500 people in Minnesota - then, we were transferred to Dallas.  Can you imagine the shocking changes?  All survived and all found jobs, new friends, new church right away.  It was quite a learning curve.

This dishwasher is a Bosch.  It is super quiet and about 8 years old and super cleans.  The new one run forever though.

Janet:  Question - if not too personal.  What kind of shoes does Darrel get from the VA?  This VA has been wonderful for us.  The are rated very low and I only see kind and gentle care for everyone.  How on earth did anyone survive the dust bowl?  That will be my next search.  Thanks for the site.

Back to house work and sorting stuff to donate.  Don is about to make biscuits and gravy for our dear neighbor.  I took "the quilt" apart and will start from scratch.  Meaning, the blocks are all sewn but need to be pressed again and this time I will really pay attention to the order of placement.  Finishing this quilt will make me so happy - never again a full quilt.

Hi everyone. It is another beautiful morning here in South Carolina although the humidity is back up today.  Yesterday it was nice all day and the humidity stayed down.

The only thing on my schedule for today is to pay the first of the month bills (which I have already done), make a quick drive to Kroger's to pick up an online grocery order and then this evening Pat and I plan on going out to eat.  There are a couple of other little projects around the house I may tackle later this morning. The last couple of days I have felt better than I did last week for which I am grateful.

Janet, as to ask twice about the brand of dishwasher you got as when I saw your answer as to the brand I remembered you have indicated that before and I just forgot.  Kitchen Aid is certainly the top of the line and I hope you will get many years of usage from it. That sounds like an interesting book you are reading.  Like you I am glad I was born in 1941 and thus really have no memories of the hardships of World War II.

Carol, I don't think you had mentioned the deer before.  We have not seen any in our neighborhood but have seen them on the road that goes downtown. Like your children, mine were uprooted several times during their childhood as we moved for advancement in my job.  Fortunately, we lived for nine years in a suburb of Kansas City so they did have a stable living environment for elementary, middle and Scott for high school.  We did move to the Atlanta area when Stacey still had two more years of high school.  Our dishwasher, which is a Frigidaire, also runs for over an hour but does a super job of cleaning the dishes.  The cycle Pat uses for most load of clothes in the LG washer takes 117 minutes but that includes a second rinse. The last quilts that Pat has made are twin size and not sure she would tackle a bigger one but never know.

Janet

I'm going back to my default color, for today, at least!  :)

Carol, the VA has been wonderful to Darrel, too.  We used to have to drive clear to Amarillo, but now he goes to the satellite office in Liberal, so much closer.  The shoes he chose are a type of tennis, or sports shoes, with velcro closures.  He got one white and one black pair.  They also give him 12 pairs of socks a year, the soft diabetic ones.  They do have an assortment of shoes, some in leather, very sturdy, and all of them look nice.  He also got his hearing aids from the VA, and they supply free batteries for them. We have no complaints about the VA, they have treated Darrel very well!  We were in the VA hospital in Amarillo when Darrel had his first heart attack, and they sent him right over to the Baptist hospital just a few blocks away, where a very good surgeon found the blockage and put in his first stent.  Now, rather than Amarillo, they send him to Wichita for anything they can't handle in Liberal.

I heard that the Bosch is the very best dishwasher on the market, but they weren't available in Garden City, at least we didn't find any of them.  And if they cost more than the Kitchen Aid, then WOW!  They should really be something!  I read in the instructions on this one that some cycles run for almost 2 1/2 hours!!  :o  But they say they save on water.  Our water costs less (we have our own well) than the electricity!  The thing I dislike about this machine is that it is stainless steel, and shows fingerprints every time you touch it!  I always said I would NEVER have stainless appliances, but that's the only one they had.  Now, they have it that doesn't fingerprint, as the salesman showed us a refrigerator with that finish.  I guess I will have to get used to polishing more often.  :P

Larry, so happy to read that you are feeling stronger today!  Praise the Lord!  I finished reading the book yesterday while Darrel was driving.  Last night I watched the videos, several of them, from that time and following.  Now I want to read "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck, also about those hard times.

My parents raised six kids during the depression and war years, but we all turned out okay.  They always taught us to work and not expect to get anything for nothing, to be respectful and kind, and took us to church from an early age.  I'm so thankful for my upbringing, even though at the time I was unhappy a lot and felt unwanted.  But God had a plan for that little girl!   :)

I'd better stop before I bore you all to tears!

Just realised I haven't posted for near on four days, as usual nothing much happening my side apart from I did manage a hair appointment which was months overdue Monday, a new village hairdressers, my first visit, I am happy with the cut, but boy, did she use that hairdryer on a too hot heat, felt it burn my scalp...The mature in age, she has been a hairdresser for 40 years, lady owner also runs another salon in the village somewhere, she lives alongside of this one which has hanging baskets running outside, not your usual type of hair salon, she also came a fair bit cheaper...I had to give up on my last salon as they have now turned the road, with its disabled parking bay into a pedestrian only walkway...

Our morning weather is rain, and for once I woke for the loo, and put on the light as last night before going to bed there was a very large spider in my bedroom which I had to call Richard to get rid of it, so the last thing I want, or need, is to step on another spider en-route, in the dark to the loo, not that there really would be another so quick as this is only the second one, almost same place, as one I encountered, guess a year ago, anyway I wasn't taking that risk...then I realised the time was just 4.am, now yesterday I did get up at 4.am, but I wasn't prepared to make a repeat of it, so with dressing table lamp turned off, I went back to sleep and woke at 8.am, that is a first for me...but I could get used to it...

Has Jeanne Lee posted recently? cant recollect seeing any postings...

Our rain is now heavy,  :rain: its grey outside, and Richard has ventured a morning walk with our Toby with his golfing waterproofs on...both wont be too happy as Richard doesn't like water in any shape or form....It will be down to me to do the drying of Toby and that comes harder than it sounds...Toby doesn't take kindly to parts of his body being touched...oh well, a bit of exercise for me... ;D

Hi everyone. It is a cool 66 degrees here this morning and it suppose to stay partly or mostly cloudy all day getting into the high 80's.  I woke up about 2:15 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep.  After an hour or so I got up and finished a jigsaw puzzles on the computer and read my email.  I then laid down again but still couldn't go to sleep so turned on the audiobook I am listening to.  I don't expect to go any where today so I will probably rest some later this morning and this afternoon.  Scott and Jennifer will be out this evening for dinner.  Pat put together a chicken casseroles last evening that is awaiting in the refrigerator and that will be our dinner tonight along with a lettuce salad that I will make later this afternoon.

I had an interesting experience yesterday at Kroger's, where I went to pick up Pat's online grocery order.  When the young man brought out the cart with our groceries I saw the receipt and it was for over $250.  I knew our groceries should have been in the $30 range.  There was a car next to me also getting her order, which was a large one and that was the ticket for her order.  However, they had put the three cartons of cola that Pat had ordered on her ticket.  So they had to adjust her ticket and mine.  In addition, Pat had ordered a box of Velveeta Cheese that wasn't in the box of groceries so the young man went in to retrieve it.  When he came out with it he said there would be no charge for the colas or the Velveeta Cheese as they had made the mistakes on the bills.  The bottom line is that they didn't charge me for around $19 worth of product.  I thanked him very much.  I have to wonder if he just didn't know how to redo the receipt although he told the other clerk loading the other car what he was doing and that seemed to be OK.  I was also told not to look a "gift horse" in the mouth.  Unfortunately we won't be shopping online at Kroger anymore because after three free orders all future orders are $4.99 per order regardless of amount.  Walmart, which is located across the street, has no order charge for purchases over $30, which seems to be no problem for us.

Janet, it is encouraging to hear that the VA has provided good medical treatment and services for Darrel and for Carol's husband.  It should be that way. Like you my sister and I were taught to work and it has served us well throughout our lives.  My mother started taking me to Church when I was 3 years old and my sister was just a baby.  We seldom missed a Sunday.  You are never boring with your postings.

Jackie, I missed your posting but glad to see it wasn't for any medical reason. Glad you were able to sleep late.  I read an article a few days ago about ways to keep spiders away and one I remember is using like a peppermint oil.  I just sent you a link to the video via email. Yes, Jeanne Lee has posted recently and I think the last posting I saw from her was yesterday.

Jeanne Lee

Don't worry, Jackie, I'm around.  Just as I was going to ask about you, there you were first thing this morning!   :D

Interesting about peppermint to deter spiders, Larry.  That's what I use to keep mice away, too.

When we bought this older house, I could not find any white appliances so stainless steel is installed.  Really  really dislike stainless steel.  The former owners were lax in housekeeping so we had to update.

Larry:  Interesting on the Kroger surcharge for your order.  That is a huge mistake for them - it will really hurt their sales.  This year, we caught Rainbow Trout, spotted a young moose and this was in the mountains - now the deer are back in our ravine.  So thankful for these special sightings.  We are planning on a whole state Minnesota trip and really hope to hear and see loon.  Our friends and relatives are all over the state and we will do our best to spend some special time with them.  Don's cousin is in her late 90's in Duluth and sharp - so easy to visit.  My last auntie is 102 in middle MN.  Cousins galore - we cannot see all.

Thanks for the tip on peppermint oil.  We regularly bug bomb twice a year and leave for the day.  It seems to do the job.  Being next to a ravine, and also keeping our windows open - bug gravitate to the house.

Don is at the VA this morning for a regular visit with his caregiver.  Not much has changed.

We will visit son tonight to check the list of things for our dog-sitting next week.  This is an older dog with special needs so we just hope for a peaceful time.

We are just home from Darrel's seeing his doctor in Liberal.  He had a rather unpleasant procedure done, which showed he has no blockage, so he should stay clear of the UTI's for a while!  He had to take some sedating pills an hour before, so I was the appointed driver coming home.
Since I was the "boss" I stopped in Hugoton to see Diane for a little bit.  He didn't mind, as he got some onion sets she was ready to pitch and a nice strawberry plant.

We stopped by to check on Beth this morning after leaving the gym.  She is still feeling good except for pain in her hands.  I haven't heard any complaints about that before.  :(

Since Diane and Jeff are going to use our pickup and trailer to move Abby back to college, we are having new tires put on the rear of the pickup.  That's close to $600.00.  Boy, tires are so expensive anymore!  We are giving Abby our queen sized bed, as we don't really have room for it.  I went upstairs and found the headboard for it, also the pump for the airbed they will borrow, so both Abby and the parents have something to sleep on for one night.  (Well, Abby for lots of nights!)  ;)

I'm still wrangling with the insurance company trying to get our trip money back.  May see some progress in a few days--I hope!  It's been six months already!

I'm tired.  Think I will go get my pajamas on and read for a while!

well hello there, from the south coast of Oregon.I have bee4n AWOL for a few days and had to catch up on some of y'all's posts. Not a whole lot is new here. Freckles almost gave me a heart attack on Saturday. I had her out front while I washed the car windows and she disappeared. She took herself for a walk. The neighbors and I were looking for her and calling her all up and down the street. I started down the hill on the dirt road to go look further from home and there she was running up the hill to meet me.  I put her leash on and scolded her all the way home. Then on Sunday Keith left the sliding door in the bedroom open, I was in the living room watching the evening news and spotted her walking across the front lawn. She got scolded again, but at least she was headed for the front of the house and I got to see her.

Hi, Friends,

I've been out today, purchasing groceries and buying both lunch and dinner meals.

I said I was going to do the laundry tonight, but time has passed and now my body wants to go to bed. :)

I got a new iPhone a couple of days ago, and apparently was headed for trouble with the old one.  The sales rep told me that the battery was swelling, causing the screen to bulge. Yikes!

Well, thank you for the comments.  I've enjoyed visiting with y'all tonight.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Yay my walking is today back to trustworthy, it has taken a few days to reach here...our weather is dry, sunny, warm but very windy...I was ready to venture outside after I waited in by myself to take in delivery of dog food...then Richard came back from his walk with Toby so I got my rollator ready for a short downhill walk, Richard tagged along side of me...We stopped and I chatted with a female neighbour after you turn right at the slope, on flatter ground, she was out pottering around her front piece of garden...This lady has - had her home on the market but its a bit hit and miss at the moment whether she has her buyer or not....This lady battled cancer last year and cancer treatment, she also has only half an arm, that was noticeable the day I first met her a year ago when we first moved here...Anyway after my last few bad weeks, it sure feels good getting out and breathing that fresh air...but it has taken the wind out of me, literally, just getting myself and pushing my rollator back up that steep hill, a few stops and starts and I make it home...

I taped an experimental documentary on a retirement home for four year olds, well it was a mixture of children and the Birmingham resident seniors who wished to take part for the six weeks...It showed the performance of the residents before and after....and of course the after results came out better...They said this is a usual thing in America that needs adopting over here in UK...The children and parents still come to visit...Links...

Hi everyone. We are expecting to have a somewhat cooler overcast day today getting up to only about 85 degrees.  I had a very good nights sleep last night and feel refreshed this morning.  I am looking forward to going to coffee and then after taking my friend back to his assisted living facility returning downtown to attend the Wisdom Class at the Church.  We had a nice evening with Scott and Jennifer last evening.

I am going to try to hold back a bit on comments today as seem to have been writing chapters of a book the last few days.

Jeanne, didn't know about the peppermint driving away mice.

Carol, Pat has never wanted stainless steel kitchen appliance either for the same reason.  I hope you and Don have a wonderful trip to Minnesota and it sounds like it will be a fairly long one.

Janet, glad to read that Beth was still feeling good yesterday.  It seems everything related to cars and homes and medical care has become very expensive.

Marilyn, I guess Freckles just needed a little outing on her own.  Glad she is fine.

Ruth Ann, I find that when I feel my iPhone getting hot that it often helps to turn it completely off and back on.

Jackie, it is nice to read your posting and see you are having a good day walking.

Shopping at COSTCO this morning.  It wasn't too crowded.   We visited with son last night and now have all the instructions for dog-sitting for next week.  Earlier, our granddaughter called and asked to meet us half way as she wanted to buy us a treat with coffee.  We never refuse a grands offer.  She is such a driven young woman and still a sweet personality.  Happy and content.  So, we met in Golden and that is an area that was panned for gold years ago.

Today, we are watching the hawks and enjoying a cooler day with possibility of rain.  I worked on the quilt for some time - must force myself to go down there and keep on project.

Ruth Ann:  It sounds like the battery was becoming dangerous.  glad that you had it checked.  How are you doing in the heat of summer?

Jackie:  When I was a co-Girl Scout leader, we used to bring the girls to nursing homes to sing, and just chat a bit.  The elders just loved to see youngsters.  Our boys were in scouts and they would raise and decorate Christmas trees - it is good to have children learn to appreciate seniors.

Marilyn:  I hope your dog doesn't try to escape again.  That is heart-stopping for sure.

Janet:  Very expensive tires - my mother always used to say that just pay the price as it was cheap insurance to have good tires.  She was right!  You will be safer.

Janet

Carol, that was one of the first things I learned about Darrel--he does not like to drive around on bald (or nearly bald) tires!  Yes, cheap insurance, but ouch when paying for them.
He didn't want Jeff driving Abby to school on worn tires, either.  God bless Darrel!

Ruth Ann, glad to read your post.  There are days when we must listen to our bodies, even if we had other plans.  Glad you were able to get out and do your errands, and that you got a new iPhone in time! That was scary!  Especially after hearing of all the phones exploding and starting fires recently.

Jackie, good to read you felt like taking a little walk.  Too bad you don't live on level ground.  You would love Kansas!  ;)

Larry, go ahead and write a whole book anytime you feel like it!  We love your posts!  We had a cool day here today, so pleasant!

Carol, I love getting out in nature when I can, watching and listening to the birds, etc.  And absolutely love getting to spend time with the grands any chance I have!  Yes, the residents of nursing homes love seeing children!  I wish more people, Sunday School teachers, scout leaders, etc. would bring the kids to visit.  It's good for the kids and the seniors.

Marilyn, it sounds as if Freckles wants to be a bit independent!  But scary for you!  Glad all turned out well.

Jackie, I will go back now and watch the documentaries you kindly gave us the links for.  Thanks!

Carol...
...it was very uplifting watching this documentary...I did miss the first week, it came in two parts....but we are so behind America in adopting doing this, this was an experiment of which obviously worked to everyone's advantage...not everyone is lucky having family visitors coming to visit them when in carehomes...these places can be very lonely for some, and some who were interviewed before the children arrived had very little feeling for living...

Janet...
...I have only got myself to blame...I was the one who chose this place, this home, I knew what I was taking on but, when it comes to the reality of living it, that brings a whole new challenge, it was easier said than done...
Janet, oh me too, I love everything nature, trees and birds...I am lucky where we now live, I can and do appreciate the trees from down the slope, a set of high trees, and all the surrounding greenery within our parkhome site, and the views, our place is stunning...even though Richard is not the same as me, he doesn't see the beauty...Although I cant seem to attract as many birds to my garden as I did from my last home...I dont now see any Starlings, I do miss the Starlings as they would always make a beeline to wash in the bird bath, it used to be fun to watch the water plashing up in the air...now I have yet to see any bird taking a drink of water...

Who would believe such a short walk would mess up my MS body, but it has, and it does...Richard is out doing his supermarket shop so, as our weather is warm, sunny and dry, I had the brainwave and thought I would give it a try by myself with my rollator and Toby...Well I first lock the front door, then the fun of manoeuvring my rollator from the kitchens back door, onto our decking, through the blue wooden gate to the side, getting myself through first and down the two concrete steps, followed by the rollator, after twisting it on its side to get it through the gate then down the steps, before opening it up to actually use...then after a long windy concrete path to the front, manoeuvring it through the plants to the front, then finally getting it down that final step onto the parkhomes road, in anticipation for my downhill short walk...veering off to the left towards the fenced alleyway, that was as far as I was able to go before my journey uphill back..then doing the same thing in reverse until I got into my kitchen, and found a chair....Now it will take my body sometime to get back to my usual MS normality...Was it all worth it?....well, I only briefly spoke to two people, one was the parkhome manager as he passed me in his car, we just said good morning, the other was the man who recently had a hip, or knee replacement, cant remember which, just a brief hello, as I asked him how he is after his opp, he answered but never stopped, his dog was off lead and of course Toby wanted to be too and go play with it...but I wasn't about to go let him off...Oh well, we have to at least give these ideas of ours a try...it was either that or look at these four walls all day...Toby will eventually get his full walk when Richard comes home...

Hi everyone. We have another overcast day with a 40% chance of some rain later.  It is suppose to get up to only around 85 degrees this afternoon.

The main activity for today is that the chair lift tech is coming again as the batteries in the chair are not charging.  This is pretty discouraging as they were just here on Monday to do some repairs, put in new batteries and do maintenance on the lift.  They think maybe the charger has failed and will put in a new one this morning.  I am convinced we got the lemon in this lift.  This was suppose to be the best lift on the market but we have had a lot of problems with it.  I plan on staying home all day.

Yesterday was a good day for me but turned out to be a very painful day for Pat as her back started spasming and wouldn't stop.  We have a massager like the chriopractor uses and I had to use it probably 5 or 6 times on her back to give her only momentary relief.  Finally after taking another pain pill and muscle relaxant and applying Aspercream to her back she was able to lay down and go to sleep and so far this morning is OK.  She plans to take it very easy today.

Jackie, so sorry to read that your hoped for good walk turned out to be so stressful and brought back your discomfort and pain.  I sure hope today finds you feeling better. Perhaps it would be wise not to try to get outside when Richard is not at home in case you need his help in getting back into the house.  I guess we all have to test our limits and when we feel better test again.  One of the things Pat and I enjoy in watching programs made in England is all the beautiful gardens.

Carol, I like to get to Costco just as they open and on a weekday morning as not too many people there yet.  Spending time with grandchildren is always a pleasure and your coffee with your granddaughter sounded extra special.  Many years ago I was in Denver for a two week upper management training course and the class was taken to Coors brewery in Golden for a tour as Coors is considered a very well managed company. It was an interesting experience.

Janet, Darrel is very wise to be sure your vehicles have good tires.  People from our Sunday School class go to one of the care facilities here on three Sunday's a month to provide a service for the residents.  I think there is another Church that goes the other Sundays.

I appreciate the comments that my postings aren't too long.  I start out with an intent to keep them short but they just grow and when I comment to one person I often try to comment to each poster as I hate to exclude anyone.  Of course, that is the purpose of my greeting at the beginning of each posting is hoping that all will feel included even if I don't mention their names.  I also enjoy reading all of the postings regardless of length.

Good Morning, I was so foggy here this morning but it lifted enough by 6:15 that I went to the gym an hour earlier than I usually go. After having breakfast I took Freckles for an early walk. I enjoy the cool morning air for a nice brisk walk with her.

This evening, it is the monthly Wine Walk in Coos Bay, Furry Friends sets up a table at one of the appliance stores where we set up a table with a donation jar and a poster with pictures of the places we take the dogs. I am in charge of seeing that it is set up and that there are two teams to showcase their dogs. This month it is my turn with another team to sit there for two hours, let people pet out dogs and tell them about Furry Friends.

Hi everyone. Just came back from the mailbox and wow is it ever humid this morning and we will probably see the low 90's this afternoon.  We did get just a short rain yesterday evening although there were severe thunderstorm warning for our county.  There is a 20% chance of showers this afternoon.

I have a light schedule planned for today.  I want to attend a meeting at 10:30 this morning and then hope to watch the golf match later this afternoon.  Our dinner tonight will be some delicious chicken enchiladas from the last batch that Pat made.  This is always a favorite meal for us.

Yesterday the tech was here for two hours working on the chair lift.  He brought another set of new batteries with him so that he could do further checking.  He put in a new charger for the batteries and apparently made other adjustments.  Since he had just been here on Monday there was no additional charge for his visit yesterday as apparently the charger was something still under the three year warranty.  I think every moving part of the chair has now been replaced.  Pat had a good day yesterday and didn't suffer a recurrence of the severe pain of Thursday.

Marilyn, I bet Freckles looks forward to those early morning walk when it is cool.  I hope a lot of people stopped at your table last night to learn about the Furry Friends and to give Freckles a lot of attention.

Carol

"Morning has broken...."  I just asked "ALEXA" to play the Cat Stevens version.

Larry:  I would hope that they would replace your entire chair lift as there are too many issues. You surely have a need for that lift.  Yes, Golden has the main Coors business.  Budweiser has a farm in Fort Collins and they have the beautiful Belgian  horses.  We looked at homes in the Golden area but it can flood as the town has some steep hills - plus, we like  walking on flat ground anymore especially at this altitude.

Today, we begin caring for son's dog - Loki - and he needs special care.  We will be back and forth for the entire week staying over there each night and  dropping in to check as well.

PAT:  How are you faring?  We were all happy to see you get out of hospital and now I just want to know how your days are improving now that you are home.  Take care.

My goodness!  This day has flown by!  I was up early, then after my Bible study time, made breakfast, ate, cleaned up the kitchen, then went to town to the Farmers' Market.
I bought tomatoes and tamales.  Yum!  I ate the last tomato from last Saturday with some bacon for my breakfast.  Darrel loves tamales and had told me if anyone had them, to get some.

Then I went to the care home, and cut the top of Beth's hair.  We are having pictures taken tomorrow at church for the new Church Directory, and I want her hair to look better.  The girls always just comb it flat against her head, tuck it behind her ears, and it looks terrible that way.  Or they want to braid it, which I hate!  It makes her look bald! Anyhow, I am taking some gel, some rollers, a barrette and a hair dryer in the morning so I can try to make it look better after church.  Okay, off the soapbox, Janet.  ;)

Jackie, how frustrating it must be to struggle that much trying to take a short walk.  I'm sorry.

Larry, I agree with Carol, that they should replace the entire chair lift!  Well, hopefully, the problems are all fixed now.  I pray Pat's back is feeling lots better by now.  Sorry she has such a problem with it,
as I know that really takes the joy out of life.

Carol, how old is Loki?  I remember touring the Coors facility many years ago, and found it so interesting, especially the bottling process.  I was amazed at that.  I hope Pat answers your question,
I am wondering about her, too.

Jackie, I watched the videos on the four-year-olds in the nursing homes.  What a wonderful idea--so beneficial to both the little ones and the older folks.  And four year olds are just wonderful!  So eager to learn, so friendly, and so lovable!  My 100 year old friend Maxine loves it when I bring my little g-grand girls to visit her.

We're going over to Hugoton so we can see Abby one more time before she moves back to Manhattan tomorrow!  TTYL!

Jackie, your problems and determination to take a short walk make me ashamed that I complain about the shortness of breath just going from the front door to a car.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi,friends,

What joy to sit in the quiet of my apartment and thank God for each of you as I read your posts!

Jeanne, I don't have COPD, but lately my asthma has caused me some times of trying to get my breath.

I'm going to fix some chicken in the slow cooker.  I've learned I really enjoy the taste of adding a bottle of Walmart's mild salsa (y'all can maybe take the hot stuff, but my taste turns to the mild variety) to the skinless and boneless chicken. An overnight of cooking leads to several bags full of tasty chicken with just enough seasoning to keep it moist and easy to eat. I especially like small half sandwiches as a meal. Yum-yum.

I'm forward to enjoying church services by computer tomorrow. Thanks to the expertise of the persons who make it possible to tune in on their worship services.

Y'all have a good rest of your day.

Love to everyone,
Ruth Ann

...doesn't our God work in mysterious ways...yesterday I was mumbling to Richard that I need the oomph putting back into me, ( I rarely get any responses when ever talking to him, ) about how deflated I was feeling about my church ( I haven't been for five weeks due to my MS setback, ) that no one probably is not missing me, nor has the Vicar kept to his promise of coming to my home to visit me as he kept on telling me that he and his lady vicar wife was going to do...I was starting to think that if I cant trust a vicar, who can I trust?...and I also contacted the church lady who sends out our emails on all the village activities taking place that I would love to come to some but I cant get there ( I dont want Richard being part of my church life, he has no beliefs whatsoever. Nor can I ever get it out of my head what he once done Christmas week a few years ago when he thought I was at evening Church, only I couldn't park my car so came home when he wasn't expecting me, I shall say no more apart from something he was enjoying on the computer... ) She emailed back that after a funeral she was soon to be attending she would sort transport out and get back to me, she never has, I am missing so much, cream teas and open gardens is just one I would love to go to, amongst other villages activities...I was so feeling left out of the church ( mot the church itself ) and wondering what was the point of me going there anymore, when, all us a sudden just a short while later the phone rang...Richard answered and called out, its for me, its my Vicar wanting to know if I was alright as several church members had told him they have not seen me in church lately...My faith has been restored...

Jeanne Lee...
...its not something I will be too eager to repeat again in a hurry...if I go out the front door it maybe less hassle but I do have three steeper concrete steps to go down, I do have a metal handrail of course but still will be a challenge for me...but once down the steps I will have a little less walking to go until I reach the starting of that down hill slope...Now if I go in the other direction, that will be a steep uphill, before I reach flatter ground but, oh what beautiful scenery if and when I reach there but, the coming back down I actually find harder than the going up, the rollator even using the breaks tends to run away with me...besides I have put extra weight on, not sure I could even get up their now, haven't walked up that way for quite a few months...

Is it COPD you suffer with, yes I am lucky I do not suffer with that but, Richard now does although he is managing it well, a lot better than before he was put on his inhaler...his ability uphill he says, is better than it was...but he often walks Toby downhill, through the alleyway,
then  up another slightly steepish road, then over the hills towards the sea, a place my walking would never take me too, on a good day,
I might make the other end of the alley...

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone. It will be another day like yesterday weather wise getting into the low 90's and mostly cloudy this afternoon with a low chance of rain. I anticipate this will be my normal Sunday with Sunday School and Church this morning, rest this afternoon and then watching the finish of the golf tournament.  There are pros from many countries now qualified to play in the PGA tournaments at the top level.

Carol, I think they have about replaced the entire chair lift now except for the rails and these he wire brushed and cleaned with furniture polish to remove any dust and corrosion.  Hopefully it will now function well for a long time.  I sure don't blame you for wanting to be where you have some flat spaces to walk.  Since North Augusta is built on the bluffs of the Savannah River we do have a lot of inclines around here including some of the Church parking.  As far as I know the downtown, which is close to the river, is up high enough that it avoids any flooding.

Janet, I don't dislike tamales but can't say they are my favorite food.  Glad you found some for Darrel.  Nice of you to attend to Beth's hair for the Church pictures.  Pat wasn't feeling quite as good yesterday but certainly not as much discomfort as the other day.  I did uses the massager on her back a couple of times.  She isn't up yet so doubt that she will feel up to going to Church this morning.  One of the things I remember about the Coor's factory was all the stainless steel and how super clean everything was. It is a very impressive factory.  It seems like it has been a short summer for Abby but guess schools are getting ready to start everywhere.

Jeanne, I am sure no one is critical of you because the walking from the front door to the car is difficult for you.

Ruth Ann, salsa really makes things taste good.  We use a lot of it along with enchilada sauce but I like the medium.  Pat likes to fix chicken in the crock pot and then puts it in the Kitchenaid mixer and shreds it for use in other dishes.

Jackie, glad you were contacted by your Vicar and that it was a lift for you.  Let the Vicar know that you would welcome visits from the Church ladies.  You may need to take the initiative in inviting some in for tea and to visit.  Did you attend Church this morning after you got yourself ready.  I hope you were up to it today.  We have several people who attend our Church, including a couple of ladies who must now use the rollator to get around.
