Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

The Lord is at hand.                 Philippians 4:5

A young brother was sitting dejected at his desk when an older brother walked into the office and, seeing his drooped head, called across the office, "Cheer up, brother, the Lord's coming!"

What a wonderful biblical response!

In light of His return, Paul tells us to comfort one another with these very words (1 Thess. 4:18).

This hope ought to cheer us up, too. He is coming personally and His coming is imminent. It is a glorious hope for it lifts our hearts and souls toward heaven.

Perhaps He will come today.
--James Comte

Some golden daybreak, Jesus will come!
Some golden daybreak, battles all won;
He'll shout the victory, break thro' the blue,
Some golden daybreak, for me, for you.

--C. A. Blackmore

I am up pretty early.  Lila Mae had a bad dream or something.  She kept saying there was a baby outside.

Karma~have fun with that little guy swimming today.
How fun!

Troy is going to Scottsbluff, Nebraska today to swim.  He will be home tomorrow night.

Zachery and I have a busy day.  He needs to get more blood work done and make an appointment to get another remicade infussion done. We skipped the last one because of the flu going around.

Thanks for the devotion, Pat! Short but sweet!
How are you feeling today?   I sure miss seeing your post.

Am I the only one that is a little afraid at the thought of Jesus coming?  I guess I am afraid of the things that will happen and people who will die.  :'(

Ria~I also buy acidopholis from the health store for stomach pain and canker sores in the mouth.  Zachery gets them alot because of his disease.  It really works.  I hope you stomach feels better quickly.  You are in my prayers. (((hug)))

I better get going.  I'll be back later.

I am just popping in to say Hello.
The sky this day is overcast and we have frost and early on it was so foggy with those awful fumes from the main road.

The Weather forecast for England next week is severe, seems those icy conditions are coming over from Canada.  Thanks folks.

The Lord gave me a chorus to sing today, to lift my spirits..

"We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour's love."

We do have "An Anchor"...tell others about Him as often as you can.

I buy 100 Christian tracts for £1 from a local Christian company. I give these out to people on my "scooter" travels...just an idea.

Gosh, your daughter might be prophetic...Ha Ha!  ;)

Well at least I'm the first of the West Coast crowd!  Hi Jenny/Soni/Ami Yui.  Maybe Lila Mae is thinking of Bob Hope's song, "Baby, it's cold outside!"
Ami - I like the Scripture that says, "Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him."  The reason I like that particular Scripture is another promise of our Lord, Who said, "Him that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out."  Hang on to Him.  He won't let go of you.  He's the One Who's moving you to trust Him.

Janet ~ What a scare!  But I am so glad you are diving....and pictures, too, Right!!!

Larry ~ Nope, I wasn't aware I could export my Address Book to a file or my Favorites!  Now I find out!!!!!  I have all the addresses back in the address book and now I am working on my favorites.  I put all the URL's in WORD and now I click on the URL in WORD.  Then when it opens on IE, I put it in my favorites again.  As for the fonts, I am thinking that I can use my old tower and Jerry's external hard drive...or Keving mentioned I could put my old hard drive in my new tower.  But I don't know if I want to do that since I was having problems with some files on it.  Oh, well!

Hi, Papa John!  Good to see you posting!  Always good to see a post from you.

Ivalou and I are going out for lunch and then to WalMart.  Gosh, Marilyn.  We probably have 7-8 WalMart within 25 miles radius of us.  Two huge Super WalMarts that I know of.

Quotei think there is a lot snow where you live is that also in the rest of Canada and America???

In some parts of the country there is lots of snow.  Actually, our worst part of the winter is still to come.  February and March can be really awful with storms here but some years we get off easy with little or none.

Ria, thanks for this.  I like this hymn and I must look up the whole of it.  It's so true that God understands everything about us.

Hi Soni...  I will be anxiously waiting to hear how Troy does with his swimming.  I think that this is such a healthy sport.

I will be praying for Zachery too as he has his remicade.  How long does it take for the treatment and do you think it's helping?

Soni, I am waiting for the Lord's coming and I'm not even the least bit concerned about it.  He knows when this will be and we don't but you can be sure that it will be in His own perfect timing.   I know that when He does come, we won't have time to think about anything except for worshipping Him.  Praise the Lord!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I have had a very busy morning as I left the house at 6 am to go do my walking at the "Y".  Came home and accompanied my daughter to the car repair place again and then brought here home.  Then I went to the Friday morning men's coffee at the senior center and finally drove up to my health provider's office to have blood drawn for a routine blood test.  I got home about 10 am and must admit I am tired and doubt that I accomplish much the rest of the day.  It is sunny but very chilly there this morning.

Pat, I saw your posting on the other site that you were pretty much snowed in and I sure hope you wait for someone to come and clear it for you as you certainly shouldn't be scooping snow.

I want to extend my welcome to mistohanson and also to say happy birthday to Amy.

Etta Sue, if you can still use your old computer and have access to an external hard drive you should be able to copy the font files and any others you want and then just move them over to your new computer.  I think Kevin had a good idea of using your old hard drive as a second hard drive even if you reformatted it after copying off the files you want on your new computer.

Sonja, does Troy watch a lot of the shows on the Food Network?  They have some really great cooking shows.  I don't cook but enjoy watching those programs.  I think it would take a great amount of energy to be a chef.

Marilyn, nice to hear you enjoy going to Wal-Mart.  I must admit is always dread having to go there as the stores are so large and there are so many shoppers.  However, you can usually find what you are seeking there.  Sure you will enjoy the day out.

Jenny, it seems that you all have had a really cold winter so far.  Glad you can stay in where it is warm.

Ria, glad to see you are feeling somewhat better.  Sure glad I don't have to eat yogurt as just dislike the taste and the texture very much.

Karma, I am sure the graduation is something a lot of folks have been anticipating and are happy to see the day arrive.  It is nice that you are having a specail ceremony for these folks as it is indeed an accomplishment.

Jeanne, sure glad you had the ABS brakes to help you with the slippery roads.  How is the home page for your town progressing?

Boots, thanks for the information on BSF study groups.  I did look at the website yesterday and saw that it was a group meeting type of study and not available on the Internet.

Joyce, Papa John, and Chris good to see you posting.  Hope I haven't left anyone out who has posted since I last did yesterday and if I did it wasn't intentional.

One last note, our church has finally gotten an interim senior pastor to lead us.  We have been without a senior pastor for about 6 months.  In the Presbyterian Church when a senior pastor leaves they always have an interim pastor serve the church for a period of time as a transition before a new permanent pastor is chosen.  Sometimes it can be a year or more in the process.  We were saddened to learn this week that the founding minister of our congregation had died of a heart blockage.  He was 84 years old and had been a guest in our pulpit only a few weeks ago.  He had also lost his first wife 2 or 3 years ago and had just remarried about 3 months ago.

Just a little prayer request to Keep us in prayer for a safe trip today. Gilbert tells me that is can be a dangerous trip this time of year. Al knows the road  and I haven't traveled that way since I was 15 many moons ago. The road was only 2 lanes back then. It is my Pastor's family I am traveling with, Mother, sister, and neice.

Hi Pat

Tea for me please...two cups!

No I didn't go out on the pathways. I've been doing a few bits and pieces indoors., washed some undies etc., and tidied up the bedrooms.

Oh guess what?  I was telling Christopher how lovely it was to go to bed in the village when I was younger.  Even though it was so cold, we had feather beds and large earthenware jars filled with hot water to keep us warm. We had gas lighting, but we sweated in our beds!...well now I have had a lovely surprise, I saw a Feather-mattress cover in the Index catalogue, 1", "2, 3" depths. Yes, you guessed it, Jenny has ordered a 3" deep one for herself! It should be here for next week.

If I disappear during the cold spell, look for me in the "feathers"...Ha Ha!

Thanks for having me Pat.  I am off to get a nice pot of tea on the brew.

Also I am quite happy here today with my rug making and a couple of good books to read which our Iain recommended...

Iain, dear brother, I am praying for you. "Peace,Be Still."

Marilyn, we don't have a Walmart either here in Guelph.  They own some property and have done so for 11 years but the city council is blocking them from building.  I will be happy when we have one here as right now we travel to another city as well but it's sure not as far as you have to go!  :o

Yes Larry, we did watch the food network when we had cable tv.  That was our favorite thing to do.  Our favorite cook of all times is Emeral Lugausie (sp).
We want to meet him some day.

Yesterday he made some scrambled eggs and used a mixture of different spices and sauces.   It smelled soooo good.  He said it was good.  I didn't get any.  :(

He also made up his own seasoning to go over deer steak.  He mixed flour and his special seasoning and dipped the steak in it and fried it in olive oil untill dark brown and then baked it for 10 minutes at 250.  mmmm....it was sooooo good!!!!  He is about to kick mom out of the kitchen. hehehe...  ;) ;D

Boy, you ask me something and I just go on and on and on...about it. Thanks for your interest!

Hey, Sonja--

I love the food shows, too.

Oh, Emeril cooking deer meat ???? Deer are my
doggie's friends in Penna. Especiallly when we see the new born fawns ; no one would be able to kill
the deer.

I even lecture the hunters when I see them; (not that they listen) but I feel better letting them know how I love "Bambie".

Thanks, Boots, I will be checking out that website.

Glad you had a chance to share that info.

Marilyn, take care.

Larry, I know how you feel when you start mentioning names; you hope that you don't forget any.

But of course , we do and we feel bad but know the good people here understand our "senior moments"

Going to listen to Elvis ,music thanks to Boots, He guessed my age.  I live in New Jersey and was raised
with "american bandstand.'

' How does Dick Clark stay so young looking and the viewers get older looking?

Ria, take care, I am glad that Sonja mentioned acidolpholis pills ; they are great.

Ruthie, will get a chance to check out website that you emailed me when I get back.
Thanks again for the time spent emailing me the info.

Heading to the other forums.

Talk to you later,

Hi again,

Funny you mention your fear of dying;

I remember a few days ago, I was telling my husband that this is the year that I want to do so
very much; then I said if I live to the end of 2004.

Ireally don't know why I said it.

A saddness came over me that I did not understand; not a fear or scared but a saddness; I explained it this way to my hubby.

I felt that the Lord is leading me this year to really reach out to others and I am sad knowing that so many of my family who depend on me would be so sad when I am gone.

Please , don't think I am being egotistically or conceited; I just mean my family and friends say that they enjoy me so much and they see my love for the LORD in my actions; that I feel sad thinking that they wouldn't see that any more.

Just some crazy "senior moment thoughts--thanks for bearing with me.

Love in Christ,
Joyce

I'm getting those sort of feelings too...Jane brought me Holy Communion again this week so I do have peace in my heart...

I think it's "winter blues".

We Have an Anchor
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Priscilla J. Owens, 1829-1907
Musician:  William J. Kirkpatrick, 1838-1921

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

Refrain

We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love.

It is safely moored, 'twill the storm withstand,
For 'tis well secured by the Savior's hand;
Though the tempest rage and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o'erflow.

Refrain

It will surely hold in the Straits of Fear—
When the breakers tell that the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o'erflow.

Refrain

It will firmly hold in the Floods of Death—-
When the waters cold chill our latest breath,
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the Veil.

Refrain

When our eyes behold through the gath'ring night
The city of gold, our harbor bright,
We shall anchor fast by the heav'nly shore,
With the storms all past forevermore.

Refrain

karmat

We didn't get to go swimming.   :'(  the kiddy pool doesn't open until 11 and we all had to be somewhere soon after that.  Maybe next week.

Soni, I used to get the beegeebies scared out of me when I thought about the second coming.  I heard a preacher say one time that if you were scared, you weren't saved 'cause anyone who was saved would look forward to seeing him.  (Didn't include that to start a discussion on doctrine, btw :P ) I think looking forward to seeing Him and fearing the second coming are totally different.  Yes, the thought of seeing Jesus and living with Him in eternity thrills me.  But the second coming makes me nervous too (not like it used to, God and I talked a long time about that one).  And I know I am a Christian, and I know where I will go, etc.  I think it makes people nervous because it is truly unknown.  We can speculate.  We can study prophecy.  We can say we know what is going to happen.  In reality though, I think it will be beyond our wildest imaginations.  It is of God, we have no real idea what He has planned, we can only compare it to our current world and interpolate from that.
