Bury in Greater Manchester is famous for four things, The East Lancashire Railway. Bury black puddings, Sir Robert Peel, the founder of the modern police force, and another Robert, Robert Whitehead, who's he? I'll come back to that.
The police were originally called Peelers, not because of some vintage flying squad, where they went peeling off after some crook, but named after the surname Peel'ers added on. Later we came to know them as bobbies, why? Because Bobby is another name for Robert, and of course, drop the t and add an extra b to his name and you get robber.
Ok Robert Whitehead, has a clock tower built in his honour, at this moment, it is hidden behind the cladding in this picture. The flowers spell out Bury in Bloom, and as you can see there are four abstract paintings of flowers decorating the cladding. Robert Whitehead, was an inventor, and what he invented was the torpedo, and in front of these flowers is a reproduction of his original torpedo, and we all know the misery and suffering those things caused, Enough said.
