Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Wow!  What a large river!  I remember going out west and I was up in North Dakota (I think) and I saw a sign that said "Mississippi River Source" and so I stopped the car and only saw a wee stream and that was my only sighting of the mighty Mississippi!

I've never seen it, but I understand it's big, alright, Pat!   ;D

Great photo, Barbarian.

Way up the river, just barely visible, is the little island where I spent my childhood.   I love that river.   I still go back there to refresh my spirit.

My mother's house was on the banks of the river, and she would sit on her porch and watch it go by.

We crossed the Mississippi weekly on our trips to LA.

I taught the girls the children's ditty "Down the Mississippi where the boats go push!"

My eye was really drawn along down the river with this photo.  A great effect.

And I'm sure Barbarian is more than a little aware, but that river is much wider in many places than shown here.  It's so wide in places that you can just barely see across it.

JudyB

I have seen some of those places.  It is fantastic to see a river that wide.

That is a mighty fine picture of the river...My hubby likes going to the OH River and on our days out we end up stopping there at a favorite place along it!!! Nice angle and view, Barbarian!
God's Word is truth, You can trust and believe what he says more than any human word!!!--"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him;I will be with him in trouble,I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

Yep.   The channel used for navigation isn't that wide, but the river and it's backwaters are miles wide in places.

My picture was taken from the top of a bluff on the Illinois side.   The island you see in the foreground is Island 266.   The river is a couple of miles across at the Boy Scout Islands, with a maze of sloughs and small islands back there.   It was a Huck Finn kind of life for a young boy.

Great history of yours Barbarian.

I love this picture, Barbarian. I'm a regular visitor to Hannibal, Missouri. The stretch of river you shot here is very similar terrain to what I've seen.

Very serene picture. This river is a sight to see during flooding.
