JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Mrs. Barbarian is late at work tonight, so I'm posting them for her.

This one, I thought, really should be a B&W, but no...

There were dozens of beautiful shots.   These are the ones I liked best.  When Mrs. Barbarian gets home, I'm pretty sure, she's going to want to add some.   We never agree on the best ones.

I love them.  That second to last looks so peaceful.  Tell Mrs Barbarian well done.

Well I haven't seen the ones you did not select but you did a great job selecting these Barbarian. They are great! This looks like a really nice place.

I'm curious about that third image, the one you thought should be in b & w. That looks like pea gravel or sand. Is there something planted there? Almost looks like water with ripples around those big rocks.

A nice series of photos for sure, you tell Mrs Barbarian Don said well done!

Really enjoyed them, thanks for posting.

Morning Don!

I was wondering about that one as well.

I can't wait to see the ones the Mrs. selects!

Barbarian

It's an example of a Zen raked garden, with carefully raked pebbles giving the impression of water.    It is meant to symbolize nature and to invite meditation.

There are several types of Zen gardens, the most prominent being the dry rock type, called karesansui, literally meaning dry-mountain-and-water gardens. Gravel and rocks have been used to denote sacred areas of Japan since time immemorial, so the development of rock gardens to express Zen thought was an easy transition.

The Zen garden at Tenryuji These gardens seek to replicate the deep calm of pristine nature in a highly stylized manner. Water is often represented with sand or pebbles; mountains with stone; and islands with masses of moss or rock material.

Interesting Barbarian.  Has the Mrs picked her favourite pictures out yet?

Don

Thanks Barbarian, I've learned something about Japanese culture today.

Couldn't pick any out as an overall favourite here, they all stack up neatly as a documentation of a lovely subtle place, if any I think the close up of the posts, wish we had scenes like this where I live.
