Christian Photographers Community

I followed a link over from DPC and I'm so glad I did... :)  I have been a christian for many years and it's refreshing to find such a site as this...now a little more bout me....lol...

I am 34...single...I live in Ohio...and we are just getting a good taste of spring weather...oh how I hope it's here to stay...I am quite the novice photographer...I have a zillion things I need to learn but I love it so much...for me it is such a blessing just to get out and walk around looking for things to capture.  Nature is one of my favorite subjects...lol...as well as old rusty things and boards...lol...

I can't wait to meet everyone and get into some discussions and share some photos...I live for feedback...and Love all suggestions...comments and anything constructive....have a great day and God bless...

Hi Rachel.  I'm Grandmom (DiAnn) from Florida and I also found this site through DPC.  Until recently I haven't had much time to participate in the forums.  I keep my grandchildren during the day and have my mother all winter so that leaves little time for me sometimes.  In addition to that, my husband recently retired and became a great computer hog.  We had to purchase another computer in order to stay married and now I am happily set up with my own computer and space.  We are even in the same room now and can have a relationship again.  I retired from teaching (36 years in education) five years ago and started doing digital photography for a hobby.  I sold my books to buy the camera.  I have so much to learn and though I haven't done anything stunning for dpc, I learned a lot just being a part of the site.  I get put off sometimes and a little rattled at some of the negativity but then realize that most of the participants are a lot younger than I am and have different priorities.  I have gained much satisfaction from learning how to use my photography interests to make bookmarks, prayer cards and inspirational cards for others.  I mentor in a program called New Start for teens.  The kids are court ordered to us for 6 mo. periods of time and are on probation with the juvenile detention system the entire time.  If they break probation in any way- which includes lots of rules with us - they go back to detention for days or weeks. We do Christian based education and counseling with them and have been so successful that we had to start a second group for kids who won't leave us after their time is up.  So now we also have a Bible Study and Prayer Group for our graduates.  The parents are also required to participate and so we have a second group of mentors who work with them as well.   Anyway, I didn't mean to run on so but just wanted to say hi and welcome to the group.  This site is so uplifting and comforting.  I log on and read every day even if I am not posting.
