Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

Hi there JohnBrainard...

We are very proud of how friendly the gang here is and are glad you've joined us.  There is every level of knowledge here so feel free to jump into the forum and set up your album too in the Gallery no matter if you have just gotten your first camera today or have been a professional since the time of large format cameras.

If you need help, the Shoutbox works well, and is a great way to pass the time too.  :)

Make yourself at home and enjoy sharing this wonderful art form here at

:cp:

Thanks Etta Sue!

I just started my photography hobby this week. Actually, I started about two months ago when I picked up "Complete Digital Photography" by Ben Long. It was on Monday that my Canon XTi and lenses came and I was able to take my first pictures. I have a few photos up on my blog (link in my signature) that I've taken so far.

Thanks for all the help I'm sure you guys will give. :)

Pat

Thanks Pat. I'm sure I'll feel very at home here. I enjoy Christian fellowship. Being able to share with other Christian photographers will add to the experience.

Just got in the house, switched on the computer, went into Christian Photographers Community, and there is someone who's new to greet and say welcome to, so greetings and a warm welcome to the group in Christ Jesus' name, hope you enjoy being here with us, Michael.

Hi'ya, John; and welcome to CP.

Did your camera come with the 18 to 55mm lens? I have the same kind of camera and that's what mine came with.

JohnBrainard

Marilyn, I live in Central New York, particularly the Cortland area. My wife moved out here from California though. People always look at her funny when they find that out. It's odd. She was living in Cerritos when I rescued her. :)

ScottyBoy, I didn't get the 18-55mm lens. I decided I wanted the EF-S 18-55mm IS lens which comes with the XSi, not the XTi. I have read that it has better optics and the image stabilization is real handy to have. It wasn't in stock at any of Amazon's sellers, so I ordered the 50mm f/1.8 (aka Nifty Fifty) and the Sigma 70-300mm APO DG. I'm quite satisfied with both so far.

Thanks for the welcomes all! Hopefully the weather will be decent enough tomorrow to get out and do some more shooting. I'm anxious to try out the Macro capabilities of my Sigma lens on some frogs. :D

ScottyBoy

My parents got me a 70 to 300mm lens. Thats the one I use most of the time.

JohnBrainard

I love my Sigma 70-300mm. It's quite versatile for an inexpensive lens. I use it much more than my 50mm f/1.8.
