Title: Full Hunter's Moon Portrait
Post by: shutterbugmom on October 15, 2008, 01:16:15 PM
Here's one of my latest moon shots.  This is the "Hunter's Moon."  Do you all know that the full moons all have names?

"Full Hunter's Moon - October With the leaves falling and the deer fattened, it is time to hunt. Since the fields have been reaped, hunters can easily see fox and the animals which have come out to glean." (Farmer's Almanac)

Wonder if there's one named after me... hmmmmmmmmm

Really nice shot!

Very nice shot. I like the tress on the left side too.

Thank you!  :)

I was actually pretty cramped as far as trying to frame this scene.  There were bushes in front of it, plus a house (and not one that would add to the scene) and power lines and I probably looked pretty silly squatting down and shooting up in to the trees and past all this other stuff. LOL

Thanks so much!  :)

If it weren't for the impediments, I would have rather zoomed out a bit to re-frame it so the moon was more in the upper right and the trees were taller.  Part of the fun of outdoor photography is working around the obstacles we encounter sometimes.

You can probably do some of that on the computer.  But I must say in my humble opinion there isn't a lot to do to this shot.

Thanks, Carissa!

Me, too!  Someday I would like to make a whole calendar of sky/clouds pictures.  I think I like the sky so much because Jesus will return in the sky!  I took some cool sky shots today that I will try to post soon.

I like that you used a tree in the picture to make it more exiting. I often forget to add a foreground object, and I end up coming back with dull images.

Thanks.  I didn't know that either until I researched it when I took the photo.  That's one thing I love about photography, I learn about new subjects all the time!  :)

Thanks, Scotty!  I forget that sometimes, too.  It helps me to have a check list in my head...forground (framing), background (clutter, distraction?), dof, ss, composition, etc...
