We started looking for a new dog just before christmas, and we finally found one. Meet Bear, a 72 pound 2 year old Chow-Chow/Collie mix.
We got him from the humane society shelter.

I'll bet he was happy to have a home! Looks like a nice dog.
In that first picture he looks wary - what's going to happen next? And then he gets to enjoy a lovely tummy rub. :D
I'm glad to know you found yourself another dog. I'm sure he will make a great companion.
Don
"I like that you can do that some more!"
Us doggie people need our dogs cor that companionship. I can't imagine not having one to lay at my feet.
Awwww.... Nice to see these pictures.
Now, we'll have to see this dog "grow" with you all. Just keep adding photos into this topic, ok?
Love the name too!

Oh, I don't think he looks creepy - more like he's smiling! :D
He looks well cared for and his coat is so lovely and shiny! Thanks for sharing these. :)
He is lovely! How is he fitting in to your home? What a wonderful friend!
A purty dog for sure!
Don
That second last one looks like he is saying ".... haaa I'm home."
Well I think that second photo still shows his miscevious side.
Yesterday he grabbed the sandwich I made off the counter after I left the kitchen to get a glass I left in the library. Other than that he's doing well, and well behaved.
I can't believe he was found as a stray.
He is a nice looking dog for sure.
I don't think the second one is a mischievous look. He is just grinning for that photo. ;D
Sandwiches were made to be eaten and he thought you made it for him. Did you tell him it was yours and not his? :)
Don
I had a german shepherd who stole a whole pound of butter that I had opened and turned my back on. Also, I had a cat who stole 3 pounds of pot roast and backed down the cellar stairs dragging it by the string around it.
I had a BIG black lab once that reached on our table and picked up a whole ham right off the table. My wife had the broom in her hand and she whacked him good. Caught him off guard and scared that poor dog half to death. He never did that again.
No she didn't hurt the dog . Just scared him and put fear in his heart.
He also came home once at Thanksgiving with a 14 lb frozen turkey in his mouth that he got from somewhere. Someone must have put it out to thaw. Never did find out where he got it. :)
Don
Hahaha We had a dog that loved home made bread and butter. I made a loaf and left it on the back of the counter, butter beside it. All I found were crumbs and an empty butter container. Jake was some dog. Then Dana would steal potatoes!
That same cat had a litter of 5 kittens in a box of off-season clothes in a second floor closet. We had already prepared a box for her in the basement, so my husband decided to move the kittens down there. He took two at a time and after 10 trips there were still two kittens upstairs. Mother cat had decided where she wanted her kittens to be and that was that! ;D
Glen Ilove your dog he looks like he is gonna be a great companion for you
Don did you eat the turkey?
Jeanne Newborn kittens are so cute....but they grow up! Gimme a dog to lay at my feet any day!
Once, I made Meagan a peanut butter sandwich just before a soccer game. She came into the kitchen and said "DAD! Did you eat my sandwich?"
I was still denying it, when we heard loud smacking noises from under the couch.
I love the pet stories!
What a great name-it suits him.

Well it certainly looks as though Bear has settled in and feels at home! :D
He is beautiful. What a lovely boy!
He looks like a joy to have around and who keeps up your spirit!
I took this over a month ago. I think this is my favorite photo of Bear so far.
We were on a walk in the woods in the rain. I had bear walk up on this big boulder along the path for the photo.

I don't blame you for liking it. Looks like he's saying, "OK, I'm up here. Now what?" :D
He is a lovely boy. Enjoy him.
My wife took pear to a "Pet fair" at a local pet shop. Last year they had a sketch artist there, and they did a portrait of Smokey. This year one of the rescue groups had a photographer on site.
Here's one of the photos they took of Bear.
