HE BLED AND DIED
On Calvary's tree
My Saviour died for me
He bled and died
The wrath of God satisfied
He hung on that tree
paid the price for you and me
for every sin on Him was laid
so we may be no longer afraid
The crowd mocked and scorned
The One who's head was crowned with thorn
Yet He took the insults hurled
And looked on with love for the world
And as He breathed His last
He loosed the bonds of sin holding fast
No longer bound by sin and shame
My heart is cleansed and reclaimed
For though He bled and died
He rose again and is my guide
He walks with me and I with Him
And what blessed joy lies within
For my blessed Saviour holds my hand
My heart is His to command
And though the way seems dark and drear
I know He is even more closely near
