Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Carol: Thankful:  Don is home from hospital.  I found him unconscious with head outside on the floor and the rest was in the shower.  At the same moment, one son was walking through the front door to visit.  Two fire trucks came racing in and they took over After 2021-12-29, 22:01:26

ROSES ARE FOR NOSES - by Under_His_Shadow/ Jim

Roses are for noses, and
I suppose that everyone knows this;
Just a whiff, or a little sniff,
can often induce great bliss.

For one who's sad,
or feeling bad,
surrounded by much gloom,
To help them cope,
injecting fresh hope,
intervenes a fragrant bloom.

Don't get me wrong,
I agree with the throng,
rose blooms are very appealing;
But it's the one with a scent,
when over it you're bent,
'sends your emotions
through the ceiling.

Sure, "Touch of Class"
is a beautiful lass, and
in fact an exhibitor's dream;
But smell "Mme. Pierre Oger",
or "Louise Odier",
and I think you'll
see what I mean.

The rose's beauty,
as if doing its duty,
refreshes one's soul like ointment;
But, I won't recant, if there's no perfume extant,
the flower provides
some disappointment.

"A Rose, A Rose, A Rose,"
someone famous
once said in prose;
But, when all's said and done,
it's the aromatic one,
'proves the rose was made
for the nose.

** Note** "Touch of Class" (a hybrid tea), "Mme. Pierre Oger" (a Bourbon variety, introduced in 1878; pronounced oh-shay), and "Louise Odier" (a Bourbon, introduced in 1851; pronounced oh-dee-ay) are 3 rose varieties often exhibited at rose shows)

I enjoyed this poem very much.

Glad you enjoyed it, Marilyn. It was a "funsie" kind of thing for me to do!  :)

That was fun to read.  I am going to print it for my daughter.  She grows beautiful roses.....has over 70 varied types in their garden.

Great, Liz! Hope she enjoys it. We used to grow close to 100 rose plants, (if you counted the 1 gallon size ones that we had recently propagated from cuttings) but only have about 50 or so now. Just don't have the time &/or energy to care for them properly like the former years!  :(
