Last Groundhog Day (February 2) I turned 63. That day I expressed my thanks to God through a poem that I specially wrote for Him, in deep gratitude for all the blessings that I received in all the years of my life.
Here it is.
SHIELD
Across the dark sky, lightning's flare.
Growling thunder is all I hear.
The storm is coming,
I have no fear.
I am not alone. God's hand is near.
Why should I be afraid?
He walks with me across the field
Through turmoil and chaos,
He takes the lead.
I have my God, my mighty shield.
When funds are low and the risk is high
No reason to panic, no room for why?
I trust my Lord,
My faith won't die.
We've reached this far, just Him and I.
It's Ground Hog Day. It's time to cheer
Six decades and three, and I'm still here.
Aged and seasoned,
What do I care?
Get wrinkled and pray, throughout the year.
My Lord, my God, my thanks to You.
You're watching over in all I do.
A guided life,
Simple but true.
I am truly blessed, You told me so.
