Mercychild ~ Here is a poem that my Daily Encounter was written around. Any one wanting to read about how this poem came into being, I would be glad to e-mail it to you! Send me your e-mail address to;

In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering o'er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.
When the woes of life o'ertake me,
Hopes deceive, and fears annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me,
Lo! it glows with peace and joy.
Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure,
By the cross are sanctified;
Peace is there that knows no measure,
Joys that through all time abide.

In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering o'er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.
When the woes of life o'ertake me,
Hopes deceive, and fears annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me,
Lo! it glows with peace and joy.
When the sun of bliss is beaming
Light and love upon my way,
From the cross the radiance streaming
Adds more luster to the day.
Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure,
By the cross are sanctified;
Peace is there that knows no measure,
Joys that through all time abide.
In the cross of Christ I glory,
Towering o'er the wrecks of time;
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.

Very nice! I'm a big fan of most poetry. There is a woman in our chapel who has published a two books of her poetry. Mary Round, she has also written any number of little choruses as well. Thanks for posting that Jerry!
mercychild ~ You are welcome! I was surprised that when I promised to post it, that it was the first one posted here in our new Poets Corner, but I am glad you suggested this site, Thank you! ;)
Hi Jerry... Just wanted to come and read the words and sing this lovely hymn in preparation for tomorrow's Breaking of Bread service. I often come here just to listen and sing but tonight I thought I'd leave you a message! ;D
Thanks Pat! I am glad you liked this poem/song. I think the story behind it was as great!
