I was out getting wrapping paper for Liam's birthday present, and mother's day cards. As I was leaving the store my husband Pete called and I could hear Tiernan my 2 year old screaming in the background. My husband asked how soon I could be home (I had the car seats). Tiernan had been having a race with Liam and fell, hitting his head on a chair. When Liam was almost exactly the same age he hit his head and had stitches in his left eyebrow. Well, Tiernan got 7 stitches in his right eyebrow tonight. He did an amazingly good job, especially since he's a red head (they have a lower pain threshold than other hair colours) and has never been stoic. He barely cried while we were at the hospital, just about 45 seconds when they got him in the pappoose (sp?) thing. My mom sang Veggie Tale songs to him while they stitched him up (I was in the waiting room with Liam...I was a total basket case and didn't want him to think back on this and remember me helping hold him down or anything). He kept his eyes closed while she sang and sleepily opened them when she was between songs. He wasn't crying at all, just laying there calmly listening. He almost fell asleep! It would just be nice to have prayer now that it is all over (went through our prayer chain while we were on the way to the hospital) that he'll heal quickly, well, and have very little residual pain. I'll take a picture of his eyebrow tomorrow.

Praying Sara!!! Take care. :)
In His Grip,

I'm praying for Tiernan Too!
As the mom of four children, I can identify when the little ones hurt. :'( Prayers for you & your family.

I am praying for Tiernan. And for you.
Oh Father, thank You for giving Tieman such peace during the stitching, etc. I pray that only good will result from this, both for him and for his mommy/daddy. Through Jesus our Lord.
ouch! I'll pray for him as well. We haven't had the trip to the dr. for the stitches yet, but we have had many close calls. It is so scary.
Ellette, it was probably harder on you than your little one. He will be fine in a few days. I have said a little prayer for him to heal quickly and fully.
Ohhh, Sara, what an experience. :'( Please know that I'll be praying for you and wee Tiernan. We have a wonderful Father and it's lovely to know that the little lad is in His hands, the Great Physician!
Getting stitches can be such a traumatic experience and it's wonderful that he was so peaceful enjoying Grandma's singing.
Thanks everyone. He has a bit of a black eye, and is bruised up above the cut, but he's doing amazingly well. Hmm...not terribly surprising with all the prayers going up for him. :) He seems to have a headache, his eye is swollen and looks like he's got some interesting purple eyeshadow on it, and he's thoroughly exhausted so I'm holding him right now while I type, letting him fall asleep in my lap (not even 11:00 yet, he normally goes down for nap around noonish). I'm going to take a picture tonight after his bath since it is a two person job to change the bandage...gotta wait till my husband is home. So, if you don't want to see it you'll not want to re-visit the thread after I post again. :)
Oh, and Larry, I want to hug you each time I see a post from you. You look very much like my grandfather did maybe 6-10 years ago. He died suddenly 2 years ago and I miss him. I wasn't able to get to his funeral because Tiernan was hyper-sensitive and literally could not leave the house, not even to go in the backyard, for 3 months. Just thought you should know. <3 :)

Here he is, poor little guy. He's just finished eating a couple strawberries...that's why the red around the mouth, the rest is from the owie. He is reacting a bit to the bandages unfortunately, not sure what I can do about that, it has to stay covered. You can see that his eye is swollen and his eyelid and above the eye are a bit bruised. Just snapped this now, it is dark out and I obviously used my flash, so it isn't good quality, but it isn't supposed to be, just to show my baby with his hurt eyebrow.

Ohh, Sara :'(
Poor wee fellow. What a happy child though. This was so close to his eye and I'm so happy that it wasn't lower.
Thanks for sharing this and I'll continue to pray for you and the family.
Thank you Lord for hearing and answering our prayers! <3
Sara, I am happy that I remind of your Grandfather. My granddaughter lives so far away that it has been a long time since I saw her and have seen only two of my three greatgrandchldren.
