Title: Gloria
Post by: Marilyn on February 03, 2005, 09:13:32 PM
I just found out today that Gloria is back in the hospital with a  broken Femur. She fell against the toilet as she was drying off from a shower on Saturday morning.
After a long time of screaming (she had taken off her lifeline) the upstairs neighbor heard her and found another neighbor to break down the door and call an ambulance.

I have been trying to reach her since Sunday and left messages everyplace I could think of, the next place for me to call would have been the hospital.

She will be going to a nursing home soon for rehab. I have to Get hold of the DR. at the Indian Health clinic for her tomorrow to tell them which one she want s to go to. She wants to go where someone from our church works.

She is a diabetic and  diabetics take a long time to heal.

Please pray for Gloria

Poor Gloria.  In addition to the pain, that had to be scary!

Father, I pray for Gloria.  I pray You'll use this frightening incident to draw her very close to Yourself.  Oh open her eyes to see what You have for her in it, and grant that she may heal faster than predicted.  Through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Amen to your prayer Al.

It  must be terribly frightening to fall and not be able to get anyone's attention.  That is certainly one of the risks of living alone.

Marilyn, her bones must be extremely fragile.  Perhaps a bone broke and caused the fall in the first place.  Guess it doesn't matter since she has the breaks she has.

I'm terribly sorry for the agony Gloria has gone through and will continue to endure.

However, I must praise God that she was rescued and that she will be where she can be taken care of by capable people.

Thanks, Marilyn, for your love of others and for how deeply you care.

This is so sad.  So many elderly people live alone and are in danger of falling.  Sad, too, that she took off her life line---when bathing is the time they most need it.  I will pray for her, especially that she will not be in too much pain.

I forgot to tell you all that Gloria is 58, not really an elderly person, but with all the problems she has had in the last 3-4 years you wouldn't  know it. She is had a stroke and fallen and shattered her elbow. The Dr. who put it pack together really messed it up and her arm is crooked. She had a heart attack, cataract surgery on both eyes, numerous diabetic sores on her feet, her toe removed in October on the right foot and now the right leg knee and hip are broken.

Oh Father, with all these things happening to Gloria, she cannot but wonder what purpose there is for her in such a life.  Oh show her, Father, how she can even yet glorify You, and move her to so love you that she commits all she has to You through Jesus our Lord.

I visited Gloria today, she is in good spirits. She called me at 4:20 am  scared silly. She had a bad dream and thought it was real. It is a long story but She didn't even know she was int he hospital. I had to talk to her to convince her not to try to get up. We had a good laugh ove that today. I picked up her mail and will take her the bills for her to write her checks on Monday, pick them on on tuesday to mail them.

Marilyn:  You deserve a lot of credit, the interest you have taken in Gloria.  Yes - I remember that you mentioned that she was so young...only 58!  Her poor bones must be full of ossteoporosis. Her pain has to be terrible.

I'm so sorry!  I will pray for her tonight!!

BTW - I recall how stubborn she was, re: smoking in your car, etc. Has her heart softened to the Gospel at all?

Yes - she will be laid up for a VERY long time!

I note that she took off her lifeline...can they be worn in the bath?

Yes Judy they are supposed be never be taken off even for the bath. She quit smoking after the doctors told her that  was one of the reason they had to cut off her toe as it wouldn't heal properly as long as she smoked.
