John found his mother having a seizure the night before Beth's surgery (A week ago Wed. night). His sister is a nurse, he called her, she called 911 and they took Mary (the mother) to the hospital. She was placed on a respirator and given sedatives until Wednesday of this week, when they operated to remove a brain tumor. She came through the surgery fine, it took only one hour of the expected three or longer. But today when Beth talked to John, he said his mother now has pneumonia. This is NOT a good thing for an 81 year old woman who has been a heavy smoker for many, many years. So she is now back on the respirator.
This has been a really stressful time for John, with both Beth and his mother having surgery. Please include him in your prayers, along with his mother. Thanks so much.
I will be praying for JOhn's mother.
Bless Mary's heart - she's really having a time of it (as well as John). Will be praying.

Oh Father, help John and mary as well to see Your hand in all this, and grant them such gracious healing that they (and we) may praise You!
Janet: Please reassure John, that we are praying for his mother!
Janet is there an update on Mary yet.?
Not yet, Marilyn. Beth said John told her they hope to get her back off the respirator on Monday. (Tomorrow.) I will keep you posted when I hear further news. Thanks for your prayers.
So nice to see John posting in NEM. This is hard on him too....worrying about his Mom...worrying about Beth . I know...worrying isn't what I should be saying., BUT - we do tend to worry....don't we?
John said they now think his mother had a heart attack while in the emergency room. She is still on the respirator, but they were hoping to get her off it today. They tried yesterday, but her respiration rate went too high and they had to put her back on it. But they say she has now gotten over the pneumonia, so that is hopeful. Continuing prayers appreciated.
I will continue to pray for John's mother, Janet. BTW - My prayer list just says "Mary"., John's name is beside it. I think that is John's mother....am I right?
- thanks, Janet.

glad to see that Beth was able to get out today too.
I have been remembering John and his dear family. What a traumatic time for him lately. Please let him know, Janet that I've been praying. I've not been able to post as much as I would like to have been able in the last week and a half but I've been able to pray.
Yes, Judy, John's mother's name is Mary. Mary Hamelin. Thanks for continuing to pray for her, and I know John and Beth both appreciate it as well.
Pat, you're such a dear, to remember the many requests brought here by all of us. We love you!
Bless her heart! What a battle, and she's still fighting. I believe in a mother's love and feel she's doing her best to recover for John and for Beth. Still supporting in prayer.

...Just checking, Janet to see if there was anything new to report on Mary's condition.
It must be so hard on John to see his Mom this way...and not be able to see Beth for himself.
still praying for John, Mary and Beth.
((((HUGS)))) Judy
John reports today that they again tried to take Mary off the ventilator, and again, her respirations went too high. They plan to try again tomorrow. I know his family must really be feeling the stress of his Mom's condition. Prayers continue.
How stressful this is for everyone concerned. It is good though that the Dr's are not rushing the removal of the ventilator. I personally know I would prefer their caution and care than to remove Mary and have something worse happen.
John reported that they successfully removed Mary from the ventilator yesterday. They had thought they would need to do a tracheotomy, but they didn't have to. That was a blessing. Now we need to pray for continued recovery. Thanks.
Continuinng to pray for Mary.
John, that is great news and hopefully your mother is on the path to a full recovery. Glad you are there where you can be with her and see to her care.
John: I am praying for your Mom., and continuing to pray for Beth as well.
Thank you Janet, for this update. John, we will continue to pray for you and your mom and, of course, for Beth and her family as well.

Today John told me that his Mom still has her feeding tube, and may for about two more weeks. Her sister passed away, but they haven't told Mary yet. She is a little confused and cannot talk well yet. Thanks for all the prayers.
