Title: Little Garrett
Post by: Jenny on September 26, 2004, 03:17:41 AM

Lord Jesus,

I pray for Jona's Gt. nephew little Garrett.

This is so serious Lord, none but You can heal this little one and bring glory through this terrible accident.

Please touch Garrett right now Lord and heal him from the top of his head to the tip of his toes.  Keep him in his right mind Lord Jesus and let there be no more pain .
Bless his family Lord and give them the joy of Your Salvation.

Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, I also ask your intervention in the healing of little Garrett in this most serious situation.  Father, also comfort the family as they keep vigil and help them not to be overcome with guilt and grief.  I also ask that you comfort the mother who cannot be with her child.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen

First of all, thank you Jenny for placing this in the prayer requests section for everyone to see it better.

As of this afternoon, I'm sorry to report that nothing has changed.  Then again there's been no changed for the worst either.

Thank you all soooo much for your prayers and for placing him on your prayer chains, prayer lists etc.  It means everything for so much prayer to be going up for him.

I will keep everyone informed as I can.

I am so saddened by Marc's situation in losing his foot  That is so terrible.  I'm not familiar with everyone here yet, so I don't remember who the grandmother is.  Please forgive me for not having her name.  I will be in prayer for him and his family.

No power here in Pomona Park, Fl.  The generator seems to be doing better this time though.  My husband Danny went to the hardware store and they told him how to set it up using a cord going directly into the house. We can use more things and not have to have all the drop cords running everywhere.
Please pray for everyone down here.  Prayer that power is restored soon and that people can get back to normal quickly.  The schools are going to be so far behind and that's just one result of the power outages.

My Nephew said this morning that Garrett was going to slowly be tsken off of the sedation.  By that, I;m assuming that they have induced the Coma.  Or at least I hope that's the case.  I will try again to call my sister, Pam in a few minutes. Praise God that there have been no negative reports.  Pam cannot pull herself away from the hospital.  They at least have a room that she can sleep in there at the hospital.  We also have an aunt that lives in the area.

Thank you all so very much for the prayers.

I'm sure that you'll keep us posted, Jona.  Oh, how I dislike seeing these little ones so ill.

There were a few changes as of yesterday.  I haven't checked today.  They did have him off of the respirator and had to put him back on because of a setback the other night.  He began getting a fever so they had to put his air back on.  they are having to monitor closely for pneumonia.  I understand they have to do this for anyone who has the potential for fluid in the lungs becoming infected.

Even at this he had been holding his own.  The swelling on his brain had been reduced and his vitals were normalized.  They are just watching him very closely.

Memorial Mission is a very very good hospital.  I'm sure he has some of the best care in the world.

Good news-  Bridget, his mom, might get to go see him.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if he could possibly hear his mommy's voice and respond!!  It's all been soooo sad.  Bridget was always a very sweet and good girl growing up.  She got mixed up and actually had a $200.00 or so a day addiction to crack cocaine.  My sister said that it all happened so fast.  She's just a little bitty country girl who fell into one of Satans' traps.  But now, thank God, she has repented and received forgiveness.  I only wish she would have done that before she was taken away from her children and put into prison.  Like I said before, I don't know all of the details, but I do know that God can use all of the heartache to turn things around for His glory.

Thanks for your prayers,
Jona

Sorry Guys,
This is the first time I've been back here in a while.  We changed our ISP and I just haven't been on the internet much lately.

Garrett is going to get to go home from the Pediatric Rehab hospital he's been in in Charlotte NC.  I need to call my sister and find out the latest info.  but my Mom told me that he will go home on the 1st of December.  He has come a long long way!!  Praise God!!  He is able to talk more and is able to move most of the right side of his body normally.  the left side is improving more slowly.  I haven't heard news of him in a week, so I will have to find out more and let you guys know.  Thanks soooo much for your prayers and your concern.  I'm so glad God works such wonderful things through His people and sends folks like you to pray and intercede for others.
Take care,

Ohhhh, Jona...   I'm so happy to see you posting tonight.  The other day I was praying for Garret and wondered how the wee tyke was doing.

Thanks so much for the update.

Has your email address changed?  If it has, will you change it in your profile?  How's school?  I've missed hearing from you.

My e-mail has changed and I just changed it in my profile.  Now I'm trying to find out how to post a pix of myself so you will know who in the world I am.   :)

Jona, send me a nice photo of yourself.  Doesn't matter the size.  Bigger is better!  LOL  I can do the resizing for you.

I'll put it on the CP server.

Hey Everybody,
I just thought I would update you on Garretts condition.
I saw him when I went to NC for Christmas.  He is doing absolutely fantastic!!!! considering what he's been through.  He is able to walk and talk and, for the most part, do everything he could before the accident.

Bless his little heart.  He took my hand and put it to his head.  He had me feel one of the places on his head and said, "feel. It's almost gone now."  To me, it was still a good sized knot.  I was afraid it would hurt him but evidently it has healed enough that it doesn't hurt him anymore there.  He seemed to know or remember just what shape he used to be in.

There are still some things that we need to continue to pray about.  One of his little eyes has been damaged somehow.  I don't know if it was the brain damage or what but it is turned to the side.  He is able to walk pretty good but he still has a hard time with being fully balanced and has a considerable hobble.  He is just as smart as he was before.  My sister, Pam, said that he had no short-term memory but I didn't notice that.  He seems to be improving everyday.

I think he will get to go back into the first grade soon.  He will have to have someone with him at all times but praise GOD that he is getting back to a normal life again.  I hope nobody ever makes fun of him for the way he walks or talks or because of his eye.

Another thing that I would appreciate specific prayer for is for his teeth.  Evidently during the accident his teeth were jammed up into his gums.  I don't know how else to say that but to say it plainly.  It's hard to imagine the agony!  You can tell that he's had damage by the size of his teeth that are exposed.  He has alot of pain from this.  Please pray that he will be able to get the professional help necessary to make him pain free as well as make his smile as beautiful as his sweet little personality.

He has the sweetest disposition now.  He is the most humble little thing.  He tickled me to pieces when he opened up the animals that his Grandpa got him for Christmas.

Garrett had hoped for some toy cows he'd seen in a tractor supply store he and his Grandparents had gone into.  When his Grandpa heard him say that he wished he had some of those cows, he turned around, went back into the store and got one of every cow they had.  At Christmastime Garrett would line all of the cows up (about 8 or so) and tell EXACTLY what kind of cow each one was.  "This one's a Texas Longhorn", he said.  "This is a Gurnsey."  I can't even tell you all of the other ones.  It was really amazing to see him do this considering that he wasn't even expected to live.  He knows all of the types of horses too!

PRAISE GOD he has recovered soooo much.

Thank you all so much for keeping him in your prayers!!!  My sister thanks you too!

God bless you all!
Jona

What a WONDERFUL progress report, Jona! I, too, am praying for this little guy. He's most certainly endured far more than his "share."

Jona, this is such a wonderful report.   Bless his little heart; he is so strong.    I just know there will come a time when he will have whatever surgery he needs to correct his eye and teeth.  In the mean time.......WOW!  I know everyone is so grateful for where he is right at this moment.

Thank you again for posting this.  Somehow I missed the initial posting for prayer.  I do know there are lots of saints here who know how to touch the hem of His garment in prayer.

Wonderful!  Wonderful!  What a way to end my day. :)

Jona, what an encouraging report.  He obviously is a wonderful little fellow and still has a lot to face but he has come through so much.  Thanks for updating us on his condition.  God be praised for the healing and restoration and for his continued touch of healing in this little boys life.

How encouraging.  I'm so happy to see that you posted.  Over the Christmas time, my daughter asked me if there was any news on little Garrett as she and a few friends were praying for him.

Thanks so much!
