Title: Overeating
Post by: Al Moak on February 12, 2005, 08:02:30 PM
Being overweight because of overeating is sin.  Our bodies are temples of God, and they should be dealt with accordingly.  Please pray with me that I'll put aside the sin of overeating, that I'll lose weight, and that I'll thank and praise our Lord.

Praying with you, Al.  I've been there for years but finally am losing weight and I feel good about this but know that i couldn't do it without the Lord's help.

God bless you dear bro.

Al, in my instance, I definitely feel the check of the Spirit now when it comes to overeating. I don't think I've lost any weight yet, but I was able to walk about 800 feet outside with the dogs this afternoon. Longest I've been able to walk in several months. Thank you, God!

Thank You, Father, for enabling Ruth Ann to walk a bit.  I pray You'll help her increase it with no discomfort at all.

I need to include even more exercise in my routine, according to the doc yesterday.  So I need our Lord's help to do that.

I confess the same sin, Al.  And as you said, we know it IS sin.  I've had to face the fact that I often use food as my comforter instead of The Comforter.  It hurts to even confess this, but it's the truth.

Thank you for asking for prayer and bringing this to the light.  I know there are many of us who struggle with this.

Thanks for chiming in Nita.  We'll all see our Lord's help together!
I began doing a longer routine at the fitness center today, and it went ok.  Now I've got to keep it up.

Al why don't you join us in the tai Chi class on Monday and wEdnesday at 8:30 and Friday at 9 at the Senior center here in Mcville.

Thanks for the invitation, Marilyn, but Tai Chi won't do it for me.  The doc wants me to do rather intense aerobic (heavy breathing) exercise, such as steppers, treadmills, exercycles, and Tai Chi just won't fill the bill.

Al - you probably just enjoy Marbeth's cooking a little too much...LOL

Is there a fitness centre nearby that you could join?  I'll be praying for you!

Hi Judy!  You're right, except for one thing: I don't enjoy it a little too much.  I enjoy it a lot too much!  Yes, thankfully, there is a fitness center near here, and we belong to it.  The doctor instructed me to increase my time on aerobic exercise to at least 30 minutes per day, five days each week.  We had been doing 20 minutes, 3 days each week.  So - here we go.  Thanks for your prayers - I do indeed need God's help.

Do you go to Health sport in Arcata Or the one here in Mcville? I go to the Mad River Rehab next door to the one here in Mcville.

Thanks, Judy.
We go to the same fitness ctr. you do, except the one in Arcata.  We got to know the people there, so we just keep going there, although once in a while we go over to McKinleyville also.

Thank goodness the doctor reduced my diabetes meds. Also, since he reinstituted my arthritis meds, I'm not in so much pain. Was pretty active yesterday. Like, I've been struggline up 2 steps a maximum of twice in the evenings. Yesterday my pain level was low enough that as an experiment, I brought in 6 bags of groceries 1 bag at a time, put them away, then another, etc. A week ago this absolutely would not have been possible.

I still experienced a huge low yesterday about 7:30 pm (down to 40!-thank goodness I did not lose consciousness since my son is away for several days), so ate 3 little peppermints to bring the levels back up. So, I don't think we're finished tinkering with this level of meds yet.

For our meeting in 2 weeks, I'm keeping a complete log of foods and glucometer readings as well as activity levels so maybe we can figure out how best to handle me.

Thanks for your prayers.

Ruth Ann:  I'm so glad you are feeling better.

btw - the verse at the bottom of your post is one of my favourites.  Its from Lamentations....I just can't think of the chapter and verse just now....love it though

I found that as I was reading at a time in my life that I really felt like Job. It's my favorite. It's found in Lamentations 3:22.

I've requested that my funeral be conducted as a positive service, with this verse being the central theme.

About my health. The doctor took away the offending medication completely. I'm SO delighted. Now, I can eat carefully and not worry so much about lows.

Thank you again, God! How good You are to us!

Ruth Ann, I am so happy to read of the improvement in your health!  I watch very carefully, because Darrel is a diabetic now, too, and I want to learn how others handle living with this condition.  He isn't very good about watching his diet, nor faithful in checking his levels, but he is improving in those areas.  The exercise we've been doing is helping him, too.

BIG (((((hugs))))) to you today!  Love you, girl!

We were all pleased with the 23 lb weight loss since he took me off that medication that was keeping my insulin level way too high. How thankful I am. And, while I am most certainly ready for the next small meal, no doubt about that, I'm satisfied with the eating plan that seems to be working.

They're going to run a couple more tests next Friday, so I may not be here at all next Friday.

See y'all.
