Title: Please pray for my friend's mother.
Post by: BonnieA on January 30, 2013, 08:14:11 AM
Hello everyone.  I have a friend whose elderly mother has been diagnosed with cancer, with masses found in her throat, lungs and abdomen.
Please pray for Joy (daughter) and Eileen (mother) as they cope with this news and try to go on with life.

They are both Christians.

Thank you all.

I also ask for prayer for Joy and Eileen's relationship...that any rift be healed, any walls be broken down.

Bonnie, that's always hard to hear, and if there is a "rift" of any size it makes it even harder.  I will be praying for their peace and comfort.

Thanks, Bonnie, for posting here requesting prayer.  For sure I'll be praying for your friends.   What a terrible cancer to have!

God bless you as well, Bonnie, as you work with these friends of yours.

Bonnie, I just wrote them both on my prayer list.  Praying for restoration of that relationship and comfort for both.   It's so hard when there are unsaid things and hurts that are not healed.

Praying Bonnie.  Unhealed rifts hurt almost more than the cancer in the long run!

Thank you, Nita, Pat, Jeanne, and Judy.  Restoration of their relationship before Eileen goes to her heavenly rest would be a wonderful thing.

I spoke with Joy today and she gave me a brief glimpse of what the last two days have been for them.  Joy and her husband were told of the test results first, then they went up to her mom's room and brought her to the dr's office to hear the news from him.  She took it amazingly well, very calm..and said she didn't want chemo or radiation therapy.

Joy says that all she wants now, for her mom, is that she be free of pain and comfortable until the Lord chooses to take her home.

The restoration thing means a lot to me, because my mother and grandmother had a rocky relationship for the last several years of my mom's life.  Mom wouldn't let any of us even hint to Granny that mom was ill...then terminally so. Imagine my grandmother's shock and hurt when I called her one Friday morning to tell her her only child had passed away.   If only they had had the chance to mend the rift before the chance was taken away so finally!!

Thank you all again for your prayers for Joy and Eileen. Feel free to pass the prayer request along to your church prayer groups...as Nita has already done.

God's will is perfect even if we don't understand it!

How true - we are in His hands. I understand family rifts - deal with some myself, so I can pray from a point of first hand knowledge of the pain these situations bring to us.

May this entire family know His love and care during this time of grief and preparation for her final healing when she goes to be with our Lord.

Thank you Judy.

Here is the reply Joy sent me in response to my email.

My dear friend Bonnie

I am so sorry to hear about your fall and your time off work. How are you doing? Was it very serious? Besides the concussion  I mean.I will say lots of prayers for you.

Mom right now is in quite a bit of discomfort. she does not feel to eat or even drink. She is very tired all the time. It has been quite a week. I am so glad that the Dr. signed me off for two weeks just so I could come to terms with this and also to be with mom. I have this week off also so I can spend more time up there before going back to work.

Please just pray that God's will be done and that she won't suffer for to long. Cancer can be such along dragged out affair and I pray in Mom's case that it won't be.

Thank you for your love concern and prayers.

Take care Love Joy

I will be praying for Joy and her mother.   I too pray that her passing is easy and not drawn out if she is in pain.  We know that God is in control of our next breath, so we trust that He will take her when it's time.  Prayers for Joy's strength too.

My dear niece is with her mom, my sister Faye, and does everything for her.  I know she must get so tired....I can see it in her face, so know the strain Joy is under.

Thank you Don.  Thank you Nita.

I, too, can relate to the strain felt by both my friend Joy and by Faye's daughter.  Having to step up to the plate and take over many of the household duties, while still in high school, as my mother went through many years of cancer treatment and pain/suffering, was not easy. Maybe so, but I am glad to have done it for her.  Watching her suffer, while being so strong about it, was both difficult and inspiring.

I will add Faye's daughter to my prayers.

Nita, your entire family is in my prayers as you are all dealing with these difficult times.  It is hard to deal with our own pain and suffering and just as hard to see our loved ones going through it all.  May Jesus hold you all in His loving arms.
