JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I'd share a praise report.  To begin, I'd like to explain a bit of my situation:  I work as a nurse at an Alzheimer's facility, & I've been there for 3 years.  I really love it there.  I love my work, the patients and the people I work with.  It's a well-staffed facility.  But, they have recently changed management.  When I was told the name of the new company that was taking over, I researched them on the internet.  The more I researched, the uneasier I became, and just felt this sinking in the pit of my stomach.  This is a huge company making huge profits, and they have repeated documented history of putting profits before adequate patient care.  They own some 65 nursing homes across the western part of the U.S., and have bought 4 facilities in my area, including the facility where I'm working.  The company that previously ran our facility was a non-profit company.   Anyway, that's just the start; My hours were cut from 32 to 24 hours a week a few months back, but I stayed, figuring that another shift a week would open up again sometime.  I really liked it there, so I was willing to wait.  With the previous company, I received accrual of vacation and sick time, although I was part time.  They prorated it.  Well, with this new company, only full time employees are eligible for any benefits.  So what does that mean for me?  Or anyone else there who is part time?  No more sick time or vacation accrual.  I prayed about this and something was telling me to call the main office of the previous company (they run other facilities in the area) and ask if there were any open positions at any of their other facilities.  Well, I got a call a couple of weeks ago from the director at one of the other facilities.  I told her I would like to stay with the company, and also that I need full time hours, at least 32 per week.  She said she had a full time evening shift coming available.  I went in for an interview last week, and it seemed to go well.
Well, today I went in to fill out the paperwork for orientation, and I start on Tuesday!  Hallelujah, praise God!!!
God is so Good!!!   :groupwave:
I was praying about this, and it took them a few days to get my background check back because the director wasn't in the office on Friday or this Monday.  I think the Lord was also teaching me patience LOL.  I was so eager to hear back so I could get confirmation that I got the job. It seems like a very nice facility, and the people seem friendly.  The director is actually adding staff....I will be the 2nd nurse for the floor I will be working on, because she wants 2 nurses to split the floor so that one nurse won't have the burden of so many patients.  But this is exactly one of the reasons why I wanted to stay with this company.  This is the same company that previously managed the facility where I am working right now.  Their main goal isn't the money, but to keep staff and patients happy and well cared for.  They have a good reputation for excellent care and service.  It's important to me to work at a facility where staff really care about the patients and want them to have good care.
God is so Good..... with the way times are right now, how things are so tough now with the economy and the job situation...I feel supremely blessed to have this opportunity to move onto a better job with more hours instead of less!  God was looking after me.  Funny thing is, is when I called the main office to ask about any open positions, the lady told me she would e-mail all of their remaining facilities alerting the directors of my request...and she chuckled and told me, "You know, you're not the only nurse who has called and asked the same thing."  So I have a feeling that if I hadn't jumped right on this like I did, I would've probably had competition for this position, or either that, missed it altogether!
So, Father God, you are such a great God!  I praise you and give you thanks from my heart and soul and am so blessed.  You are awesome God, and I love you!
Thanks, all for reading this.   I wanted to share this with you.  And I have a little prayer request myself:
Please pray that I do well when I start this new job on Tuesday, that God will continue to guide my hands and help me to continue to give care with the love, compassion and wisdom of Jesus.
Thank you so much, and God bless you all.

Don

Congratulations Kelly! This is great news and I am happy for you. I pray the Lord will give you exactly what you need to do the best job you can do. I feel that you are not the only one that has been blessed here as the ones in the home have been blessed and they don't even know it YET!

Blessed be the Lord

Thanks so much everyone!
Wanna hear even more great news?  Here's an update since my announcement of the new job:
When I was absolutely sure I was hired at this new place, I went to give notice at the prior facility.
I wanted to give notice to my supervisor in person, so I found her and handed her the envelope with my written notice in it, and I told her "this is my 2 weeks notice."  She looked at me and said "OK."  It looked like her eyes were getting red and watery...like she was about to cry.  I was thinking, "Oh no, don't start that, you'll get ME going."  LOL.  Anyway, I told her, "You know I need full time hours, and I just couldn't get them here.  I don't want to leave here, but I need more hours."  She said, "I know, I understand."  Then there was a pause and she said, "How about 2-10 pm shift?"  I said "What?  What about the nurse that's working that shift now?"  She told me that she is going to school, and the 2-10 shift just isn't working for her, so that leaves an opening now.  I was like, "Are you serious?"  She said "Yeah, I don't want to lose you.  You're an excellent nurse."  I said, "This is Monday through Friday with weekends off?"  She said "Yep."  So I had to make an on-the-spot decision.  It felt so good to feel valued where I'm already working.  I know everyone there, but yet, I was leery and scared of this new management that took over.  Then I thought about the other place where I was hired...a better management company, but much farther away from where I live.  The facility where I'm working now is just across the street.  I was offered a 2-10 pm position at the new place with every other weekend off, and to get those weekends off, I would work a schedule such as 4 on, 2 off, then 3 on, 1 off, and so on, then every other weekend off.  All of this was going through my head at once over a period of just a few seconds as I stood there after my supervisor asked me to stay and offered me that full time position.  I was thinking, "OK, do I stay, or go?"  LOL.  Anyway, I told her that if she was really serious, that I would call the other place and tell them thank you for their time.  I decided to accept her offer and stay.  Yeah, I'm still kind of apprehensive about this new company, but my spirit was telling me to give it a chance.  I don't mind change...as long as those changes don't affect the quality care we give to our residents.  I was blown away at how there was absolutely no openings for full time there before I sought out opportunities at other facilities, then when I went to give my notice....boom!  Suddenly a full time Monday thru Friday position opens up.  My supervisor and I talked about when I would start.  I started officially working 2-10 shift on the 3rd.  No more nights!  No more part time!  Hallelujah!  LOL.  I was happy to be able to stay where I know everyone and where I'm familiar, and still be able to just walk right over to work.  God never stops amazing me!  After I talked with my supervisor, I came home and got on my knees and praised and thanked God.  I really like my new shift/hours, and the staff I work with are great!  And the unit is the easiest unit in the building!
Sorry this is long, I just wanted to share an update.  I was going to post this earlier, but I've been adjusting to my new schedule.  After working nights for 14 years, it'll take me awhile to adjust to sleeping at night again.  I have to train my body to relax at night and actually sleep instead of being busy lol.  In time, it will happen.
Thanks, all again for your prayers and sharing in my joy and praise.
God is Great, All the Time!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say thanks to all!  My new position is going great.  Now if I could actually sleep at night, I would be doing more than great LOL.  After working night shift for 14 years, it seems that my body wants to be up/awake at night.  I have been disciplining myself to be in bed by at least 12:30 am/1 am after I get home from work, but I lay awake until 3-5 am.  I have tried Melatonin, Valerian (trying to stay away from sleep aids that aren't natural), but they don't seem to work.  I am fortunate that at least I don't have to be to work until 2 pm, so I can sleep in in the morning....but I'm trying to condition myself to sleep at night so that I'm not sleeping until I have to go to work again.  Sometimes I have things I need to do during the week, and the mornings are the only times I can get things done now.  So I have to be up in the mornings sometimes.  Anyway, I am still really happy and blessed that I have this full time position.  Please just pray that my body will finally adjust to sleeping at night.
Thank you so much and God bless.
Kelly
