I feel the need to ask for your prayer support here.  Bryan is still at Fort Lewis, WA, being "chaptered out" of the Army.  A couple weeks ago I made some phone calls to the Chaplain and Bryan's unit commander to let them know that Bryan has special needs that he doesn't talk about nor that show up to the casual observer.  The Captain looked him up and sent him to the Chaplain for counseling.

Bryan has sunken into a deep depression.  His mother finally got a phone call to him yesterday and she says "he is spiralling down" ... he was supposed to call her back last night but didn't.  She put in some calls to his CQ and to his commander but there was no answer at either number.  She is very concerned about Bryan and is going to try to get hold of the Chaplain today.

Please pray for Bryan's mental and emotional health and for peace ... and hope.   Pray for Joy to have the right words when she speaks with whomever will be in contact with Bryan.  She needs peace of mind as well.

Thank you,  Jane

oh, dear Janie,

Know that I am here for you.

I may not have the right words to express but our Heavenly Father knows
how much we need HIS help at this time.

Dear Lord, help this young man to become captive of your love for him--make him
see , feel, and hear how you have been in this same position and you have promised
him that you would take care of his needs.

Words are just words at this time but the heartfelt need for your presence is oh, so
real.

Bless and give his family the strength that is needed to convey their love and hope for
his recovery from the dark abyss that the devil is steering him to.

Dear Lord, this grandson of Janie has  a brillant future ahead of him --let him see
the reason that you have created him--to give honor and glory to your name.

love in Christ,

Joyce

Dear Jane my prayers are  for Bryan's mental health
and also for his mother and for you as grandmother.

Marilyn

Dear Father , You know how I have been interceding for Bryan, his mother and grandmother, daily. Father the time has come that Bryan needs your immediate attention, I realize that you know all things and that this is no surprise to you, Lord God. But I am coming before your face again with this request to give Bryan the peace that passes all understanding, to wipe those terrible memories from his memory banks. I ask you again Father to cleanse his mind and his dreams from reliving those horrible things which he saw in Iraq. I ask you to give him the joy of the Lord as that joy is his strength. Please Father  I pray that the Chaplain has been able to reach Bryan and help him to adjust. I don't know how else to say this Father but Please heal Bryans mind, and hold him in your loving arms until he is well again. In Jesus name Amen.

Jane you request has brought tears to my eye and  can barely see to type this prayer, I will be praying for Bry constantly through out the days ahead.

I deal with the spectre of depression all the time with my son, Jane, so I recognize the huge difficulties Bry faces. Yes, K've already been praying for y'all and will continue.

May God bring rest to Bry and peace that passes understanding.

A hearty amen to Marilyn's prayer.  Jane, I will continue to pray for dear sweet Bry.  I know God has special plans for him, otherwise the enemy wouldn't be trying so hard to destroy him.  Please know we love you, we care what happens to Bry, and we will keep on praying.  (((hug)))

Jane, I will also keep Bry, his mother and you in my prayers.  I hope he can get the kind of help and support that he needs from the military.

Marilyn

Jane does Bry keep in touch with you? Have you spoken with the  chaplain lately? I am praying that he will get to spend some time with you before he moves on to where ever his is going to live.

Marilyn, Bryan called the day after his mother and I returned from visiting him at Ft. Lewis.  That was the last until Joy spoke with him on the 18th.  Actually, she had phoned his unit commander for information on his release and Bryan happened to be in his office at the time.  That's when she talked with him and he was very depressed.  Since then no one has heard from him.

Joy is just returning from a trip to New Jersey (helping a friend move) and she called me while she was "stateside" and could use her cell phone.  We have been in contact with both the Chaplain and Bryan's NCOIC (non-commissioned officer in charge) and they have been very understanding and helpful.  Bryan has all the phone numbers for us and other family members but if he chooses not to use them we will honor that.

Right now, we are trusting God to work everything out for His glory and we know that Bryan will be in good hands whatever he decides to do.  I would love for Bryan to stop by here for a while. His mother would love to meet the bus when he gets off, but we don't have any idea where or when that will be.  He will receive two weeks' briefing once he has been given a date for discharge and we leave all this in God's hands.  Bryan's decisions...or not...his further treatment, where he goes, what he does ... we just don't know right now.

We are at peace with this because we know our God is an AWESOME GOD who does all things well!   :)

I just received word from Joy that Bryan is "officially discharged from the Army as of 10 a.m. 10/28."  There are many complications but, the bottom line is that Bryan is currently at a family friend's in Sacramento, CA and will be with his mother in Mexico on Wednesday.  It looks like his mother and I will be with him, in Sacramento or vicinity, the first part of December to help him establish his residence and life as a civilian.

There have been problems and will probably continue to be issues that need to be dealt with, but we are praising God for his release and the promise of a future.

Thank you for your prayers ... please continue to hold Bryan before the Lord.  This is a difficult time for him as well as other family members.

Thank you Jesus for the answered prayers and that Bryan is now a civilian.

During this transition, Father, I pray that you will keep Bry in the palm of Your hand. That he will feel the comforting warmth of Your love wrapped around him like a child wrapped in the warmth of his father's arms.

When he starts to drop - please hold him up. When ne needs clarification, give him the God-given gift of understanding. When he is scared, please comfort him.

Thank you for your never ending love to us all. For the beauties of nature. For food to eat and clothing to wear.

And, Father, thank you for Bry and for those who love him. Please guide each person with whom he comes in contact and allow him to see You through them.

Amen to Ruth Ann's thoughts Lord.

Please keep our dear Bryan looking unto You.  Keep his heart fixed Lord.

I wanted to let y'all know that Bryan is doing well as a civilian.  He is working in customer relations with Safeway Stores.  He says he loves "being sickenly sweet" to people all day because it keeps him in a good mood.  He wants to stay in this line of work and, actually, he has been told he is "management material" and they will be training him for management.  He is saving his money and trying to get his bills paid so he will be able to move into an apartment before winter.  I know y'all have prayed for him and would be interested to know he is doing very well. Maybe, one day, he will be in Mexico working for/with his parents on their resort property ... who knows?  Only God, who is all knowing and cares for each detail of our lives.

Larry, Beverly, Karma, Joyce, Marilyn and Pat ~Thanks, so much, for your prayers and concern.  I hope to see Joy (Bryan's mother) nixt month and, possibly, Bryan as well.  He has always been appreciative of Christian friends who keep him in their prayers.  I still believe that one day he will be a great counsellor and able to help many to overcome the same difficulties he is familiar with.

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me -
Bless His holy Name!

For He has done great things!
He has done great things!
He has done great things -
Bless His holy Name!

Jane Walker

Oh AL that song runs around in my head/heart all the time!  God has indeed done great things ... and I expect Him to continue to bless His children.

Last word about Bryan is that he has received "rave reviews" on his probational interview and that he also has been promoted to the Fuel Station at Safeway. He says the night manager really wants him on his team but, Bry says, the guys on that shift goof off a lot and smoke and use bad language (because there are fewer customers) and he just doesn't want to put himself in that position again.  Whatta guy!  He likes the fuel station.  As he says: "It's like being manager of my own mini market."

God is blessing this young man and there will come the day when Bryan will be able to help many along the way to knowing Him more intimately.

I hope to see Bryan in a few weeks.  I'll tell him how so many of my friends have been/are praying for him.

God is soooo GOOD -- ALL the time!!

What great news, Jane! I'll continue to pray for healing and recovery for Bry.

Thank you ALL for your prayers -- I write with tears streaming down because of your love and prayers for my family.

There will always be a need to pray for this one I believe.  He really has some Post Tramatic Stress symptoms going on ....but God brought him out of the "fire" and there is a genuine call on (and a fight for) his life.  You are all like extended family that I just met.........Hi Y'all, I'm glad to meet ya!

Joy

Janet

Joy, Bry has become special to many of us here---he has lots of grandmas!  I emailed him wile he was in Iraq and assured him of my prayers.  And we are so glad to meet you, too!  Welcome to the family!

Thank you thank you ---- you know as a fellow diver you might relate to this...

I just thought of it while in another location --

the term Buddy-Breathe......

when you run out of your own air your dive partner draws you close and shares out of their abundance.  That's what prayer support feels like.......when the wind is knocked out of you, look to your prayer partners for life support until you can get to the surface.........

weird, how my mind works sometimes...you'll get used to it, I think!  Love you in Jesus!! Joy

Jane Walker

Yes, Joy ... with tears streaming down my face, too.  I'm glad you have joined CP and come to know of all the prayers that have (and are) ascending for our guy Bry.  I know you will love these people as I do ... God is good -- all the time.  He is with Bry and will be his all sufficient supply...we have to trust Him to know and do what is best for all concerned.

Joy

Ok, so I will give an update --- he is keeping his smile firmly in place, but he is currently homeless.   I won't go into details, but he has no place to live, no car, and pretty much only the clothes on his back right now.  I have called his work a couple of times and he answers the phone with a cheerful voice.  He spent one night in the break room (he works at a 24 hour grocery store) and the next night he stayed at work until 4 am and then went for a walk until he came to a bench...where he slept until daylight - a couple of hours - and I worried on my knees for him all night and the next day and then waited until his shift was ending at 11:30 PST (1:30 my time) to call to (hear his voice) and ask where he planned to sleep....and he didn't know....then he called me right back and had an invitation at a friends house for a couple of nights.

This is hard for me to write -- It is hard to speak of my son as being so smart and wonderful with a purpose of God - a VFW etc....that is sleeping on park benches.   BUT he is not depressed - PRAISE GOD - he says, "Mom, when I look back on my life forty years from now, this time will not even register as significant"   as my mother would say "This too shall pass"  All things are temporary, what we do for Christ is all that's important.  Well, he wants to register for Jr college, and I can do that online......so the prayer request for this time is

Pray that he will acquire a safe place to stay that is close to his work (which is close to college) -- and that his attitude remains positive and future oriented!

Thanks ---- I trust you with my son's needs ----

I mentioned to him the California Conservation Corps and the Peace Corps - two places where you get free housing with your employ and you are in a community of people who are dedicated to serving others - for either one or two years.   He said that it sounded like a place for desperate people with no other choices.....I said---hmm hmm, you are homeless right now...and that is when he came out with that "when I look back on my life..." quote -- He is such a great guy --- and he said that if it gets "that bad" he would just go back into the military.........but he is sure it will be ok.  He has such faith!

Thanks again  --  I know you all have family with "stuff" too -- thanks for adding us to your list......you are a blessing!

Jane Walker

Thanks, Joy, for letting Bry's situation be known.  I truly believe that God is totally in control and this will one day be a great testimony to His faithfulness.  A mother's <and grandmother's> heart is always very vulnerable ... I love you and you must know that Bry has lots of loving, praying "grandmas" here at CP.  Know that this situation is all in the Great Plan of our Saviour ... I have not mentioned this to anyone but, since you have, I can assure you there are MANY who will be covering our guy Bry in prayer.   God will have all the glory in this ... I pronise you.   :-*

I have just prayed for Bry's situation and will continue tohole him up to the Lord in prayer. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes.

When My son Gilbert finished his Junior year of college he decided he wanted to travel and see what it was like to be homeless and traveling the USA. He did that for a year and I worried over him every day. During his travels he met Sarah his mate in wisconsin who turned out to be from California too. They are still togeter all these years later and have two beautiful children. They were both traveling following the Grateful Dead around the USA.

After allthat he went back to college and finish he senior year and graduated with a BS in Wildlife biology and Natural resources. He is now a glass blower.

Thank you Mom for honoring my request to not share my email..sometimes I write things to you hastily and then by the time it gets around, the situation blows over and it was "unnecessary" to worry.....well that's what I was hoping here, plus, I guess my pride is at stake here, I wish I were able to help him -- I have taken time to help him with housing, but he has not been able to maintain.  He still has his job which he loves -- but it doesn't pay enough to afford an apartment...Yet, after hearing of stories like Marilyn's I gain hope that God has this and every mother's child in His hands if we stay on our knees.  I cry out why? - but s you said, this will be a part of Bryan's testimony one day.  He may be right where God wants him to be....and I am trying to mess with that.  Well we will just pray God's Will --- as I asked you to pray that his smile remains and he continues to have hope and faith.....I can't stand it when he is depressed.  Thank you Mom , Thank you Marilyn

Joy, I cannot say I have ever had a child or grandchild in Bry's present dilemma, but I am continuing to pray for this dear young man.  I am so glad he isn't depressed, for depression makes everything seem so hard, or even impossible.  Keeping his smile firmly in place, and his trust in God are both great things!

I am praying for Bry's angels to keep guard round about him wherever he is and whatever he is doing.  We can't understand why life must be so hard for some of our kids, but Bry will come out with much to praise God for, and a testimony to bring Him glory.  I pray the same for my Beth.

((((hugs))))

Thanks, so much, Janet:-* I am praying for your Beth, too.  I agree: we just don't understand why it is that some of our kids have to go through the things they do.  But GOD knows and understands and has always had a plan for each one!  It is up to us to TRUST HIM to make all things work together for good and for His glory.

Hi Joy:

Its such a pleasure to meet you.  I had the priveldge of meeting your Mom in Pennsylvania at a bash.  I loved her then....and love her now.

I KNOW I'd feel the same about you, and hope that perhaps someday, we will meet too.

I have prayed for your Bryan in the past., and after reading the emails printed here, I will know how to pray more earnestly.

So many of our kids and grandkids need our prayers.  Mine are no exception.  My daughter, Karen, is a lovely girl, excellent wife and doting mother, BUT - has no desire at all for spiritual things.  Her 12 yr old son, has NEVER set foot inside a church!  Hard to believe eh?  But its TRUE!

I never go to sleep at night, without bringing this family to the Lord!

Much love,
Judy

Nita

I add my prayers to all the others.  I've prayed for Bry almost ever since I met his gramma.:)  Just as she's prayed for my kids and grandkids.  And I'll be in continuing prayer for Bryan.   I pray for Beth too.

It's so wonderful to know that we have a family of believers who will pray when we let them know of our needs.  Someday we will know why God allows some to have so many struggles.  We do know He tells us to pray for one another.

Judy McKenna

Oh - thank you Jane.  I needed that encouragement today! :)

Bryan is still homeless, but still in good spirits.....he says the other day on Sunday he hooked up with a friend and was able to sleep two nights in the friend's car.......I guess this guy is also sleeping in his car.....wow, what a perdicament....but tonight he is searching for a new snooze site.  He says that he catches  a few nods in a posh coffee shop nearby where they have really comfortable high back chairs by a fake fireplace, nice and cozy and the back is toward the counter so the workers may think he is just reading a book.  Of course he has to buy his coffee and maybe a croisant, but it is a nice place to hang out.  No snoring allowed.......

While I was on the phone with him he had to help a customer and then he came back on and sid that the guy offered him a job in construction starting next week --- trouble with that is he needs transportation and his truck is locked up at the place where he used to live and does not run, the registration is overdue and his insurance has lapsed.  So this will cost him - us - a few hundred dollars just to get him up and rolling.  I was looking on the internet for rooms for rent in his neighborhood and the cheapest room in a shared environment was 350 pluse shared utilities...that is cheaper than I expected, but his salary is only 750, so I relayed that information to him, and he said that if he got his truck running, he could just sleep in it and not spend money on rent.    Ok, I guess - don't know where he showers, fraid to ask.  So I pray that he is able to get another good paying job that will not be too taxing on his sleep deprived body......but the college registration that I have been working on for him is now on hold.....money is more important right now.

Thanks for your prayers, not out of the woods yet, but we are seeing some movement.

Joy

I appreciate all of you very much!

I have also been in contact with social services regarding homeless shelters, and Bryan agreed that he would humble himself and stay in one if there was one close by.

Jane Walker

Thanks, Hon, for keepting everyone alerted to the prayer requests for our guy Bry.  I know there is a plan and purpose in all of this ... God has Bry in His plans and knows exactly how this will all work out.  We need to keep in prayer for Bry and release our desires to His ultimate will...

I am still praying and I know you are as well.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Nita

Hi everyone.  I just came online to find the new information about our "guy Bry".

We will just cover that boy in prayer while God works out his destiny.  Bry may be kind of "lost" for a few years, while he finds his place, his own two feet, and a sense of purpose.  He's been through a lot at his tender age, and though he thinks he's so tough(don't all kids his age?)we know he isn't.  I'm glad you're here, reminding us all to keep him before our Father in prayer.

Al Moak

Father, I ask just one thing for Bryan - Oh Father, turn his eyes upon Jesus.  Move him to look full in His wonderful face.  And the things of earth will grow strangely dim - in the light of His glory and grace.

Joy

Thank you all again for remembering to lift this young man before the throne.  At this moment he is "partially" homeless.....but.....the wonderful report came on Monday when he phoned me from the church office....appearantly he had received a ride to church on Sunday night as usual and after church or during, whatever, he mentioned to someone finally his situation  and God bless this young man named Justin - he threw his head back and exclaimed, there is no way this is going to continue...no way, man you are coming home with me tonight and you are not sleeping on the streets any more.  So he took him home and Bryan got a shower and a bed for the first time in a couple of weeks.....and then Justin dropped him back at the church at 7 am Monday morning on his way to work....and so Bryan hung out at the church until he got an appointment to speak with one of the pastors....

The church that he is actively attending is the one that we have been attending since 1996 when it was just a baby church of 100 people meeting in a high school cafeteria...now it is a huge mega church with seating for 3,000 and they have three services -- and they have a group they call The Gathering which is the Sunday night group consisting of 18 to 30 year olds....that's his church....and Ryan, the intern pastor for The Gathering was the one that Bryan had the appointment with.......

So Ryan talked with him at the office and then took him home with him that night, but only for one night until they could make arrangements with someone else.  Well one night turned to two.  Ryan gave him some clothes the change into and washed what he had and they ate pizza and watched movies and talked.  That was nice.  There is another Justin "Tall Justin" that Bryan has been in Life Group with and says that Bryan can rent a room at his house where he lives with his folks.  It won't be ready for a few days because they have to clean it out...so he is still homeless until they get the room ready hopefully by Monday.

Here's the interesting part....the room belongs to Justin's brother who is serving in the Army in IRAQ right now.  Kind of coincidental right?  I don't know if the parents are Christians or anything about this family, but this could be just the perfect place for Bryan to receive healing from his war scars....and possibly for the parents to connect with their son and what is happening there...for Bryan to help them know how to pray and to understand....perhaps that is what God has in mind........

But the issue right now, is transportation, shouldn't be much of a problem that a few hundred dollars and some dear friends can't solve.   He has a little pickup that is still parked at the old house - our house that has been rented - and the renter says he will have it running by tonight...and will take it up to the church and drop it off......Issue is not the alternator, it is the insurance and registration have both lapsed and will take money that Bryan doesn't have to get it street legal.   So I pray that the money will come but more carefully pray that Bryan will not get caught driving this truck while it is illegal.  He will be staying at this house for six months, or until he gets it together....but it is far from his current job, if he still has a job at Safeway.....The other neat thing is that Justin has a landscaping business and will have Bryan working together with him to earn some money to pay rent.

So God is working, of course, and MY PRAISE is that Bryan finally opened his mouth and asked for help....from the church, which is all about this kind of service.  I say, DUH, but he is so very proud.   Bryan says it is cool hanging out at the bookstore where he has been reading -- he says he has read three books already - and for him that is an accomplishment, he has not been a reader.  I love to spend the day in a bookstore -when we were on vacation, Mom and Dot and I had a couple of hours to wait, so we went to the bookstore.....must be a family thing ----  But he has kept clean, by washing up in public washrooms.  When he told the guys that he hasn't showered for two weeks, they were amazed, they said they couldn't tell that he had been living on the streets, except his new hair style, he says it is long (2 inches) and sticking up everywhere --- they just thought he was using gel---funny----whenever he wanted his hair to look like that, he had to work and work, -- this is getting the look the hard way.

He does everything the hard way

It keeps this mom on her knees.  I have been sick for a week, mostly emotionally, but physically too........Praise God I feel better today -- not all the way, but I feel better......

Thank you for "listening" to all this.....and thank you for your contributions of PRAYER.  God is good.  All the time.

Thank You so much, Father, for what You're doing in Bryan's life right now.  I pray You'll just keep him from trouble, supply him with all the friends/brothers he needs, and enable him to move forward in his life to be and do what You have for him.  Oh continue with him, Father, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I just received a phone call from Bryan....He is heading "up the hill" for a church retreat with his group of about 200 young adults.  He is so "stoked" right now and really  looking forward to RESTING in the LORD and PLAYING in the water....lots of water activities and WORSHIP with great music.....probably not much sleeping going on...but I trust the Lord to do a SPIRITUAL WORK this weekend as he is open to healing.

He was calling from Justin's cell phone and he let me "meet" him and thank him for being a brother in the Lord.  Bryan has stayed there for the first time last night and will be there from here on....he was able to get two bags of clothes - that is all he has to move into this house...I asked if he had a bed, and he said that his room is so well furnished that he will be very happy there.

God answers prayers even while you are asking - right?

This is interesting......Justin's Landscaping business started because of a job that he and Bryan were doing together across the street from Justins house last year.  the job was for 18 thousand dollars....and while they were working, Justin made a sign that said JUSTIN'S LANDSCAPING  with his phone number -- It was his first job, he has no business, but he got 8 more jobs that have been keeping Justin's Landscaping busy - which is now an official business with licenses, trucks and employees - from that cardboard sign --- and so he tells Bryan that he is in business today because of Bryan's help on that first job.  Sounds like a great partnership.....

Thank you Lord for your loving kindness.    Your ways are higher than mine.    and All things work together for good.........

Joy, so good to see that things are looking up for your son.  Know you must be greatly relieved (and your Mother as well) that he is no longer living on the street.  I hope he has a wonderful time on his retreat and comes back refreshed and renewed.

JOY~Thanks for the good reports and you KNOW we are all still keeping Bry covered in prayers.  We serve an AWESOME GOD and, for sure, His ways are not ours ... He has such far better plans than we could conger up.

Thanks AL and LARRY for your prayers and words of encouragement.

LARRY~You have been "in on" this boy's journey for several years now -- since I first mentioned his needs in Senior Net.  I really appreciate the concern and prayers from godly men such as yourself and AL ... And, yes, this grandma is relieved to know Bryan has a roof over his head and a bed in which to sleep.   :)
