Morning Devotional...

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth His handiwork.
Psalm 19:1

On a visit to Africa, we spent most of our time in Chitokoloki, in the Zambezi valley.

We will never forget the night skies. In the absence of background light from cities, the sky was like black velvet, filled to capacity with stars--the brightest of them hanging like brilliant diamonds in space. Our hearts were moved to worship and praise.

But an even greater glory was seen when Christ--the bright and morning star--appeared, when the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
--W. H. Burnett

How Great Thou Art
(Click to hear music)

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Chorus

I love that song, Pat. Thank you for posting it . ;D I'm heading off to bed. I've been on the computer most of the day. Nighty, night.

Good morning, all.  Jerry and I are really to go out the door.  I am manning the lights at church today...if we can get there.  That I know of, there have been 3 vehicles go past the house with lights flashing since I got up this morning.  I don't know why!  They were blue lights ... Emergency Medical Services.

We got some more snow in the night.  Weatherman said we were to get maybe an inch.  Just know it did snow.  Everything is freshly covered.

Ivalou's family is coming this afternoon.  Kaye Don and Barb are leaving this morning for Bradenton, FL, and not returning until mid-April  Ivalou and I are hoping to go down sometime in February.  Jerry's family is coming this afternoon but we have no idea when.  So when we get to his house, if his answering machine has a call telling me when, then I will stay and see them if they will be there kind of early.  If not, I am coming on home and spend time with Ivalou's family.

We are off to a frosty, cold morning.  18°F

Good Mroning one and all.

Jane all the wind and rain has arrived here during the night. Thank you Lord for the rain that makes everything so green and pretty.

I have to go prepare breakfast for Fay before I go to chruch, then back there to prepare her lunch (dinner) after church before I come home to change my clothes and let the dogs out.

Happy has been guarding his new toy and not letting Bebe anywhere near it since christmas eve. She likes his better because it is easier for her to make it sqweek. I took some cute photos of them with the Santa hat on that I will resize and post later.

I finally got all the photos out of the camera last night.  For some reason unknown to me thre photos are staying in the camera even after I have uploaded them to my computer. That didn't used to happen. Could it be the updated software from Kodak?

Have a Blessed Lord's day and I will be back later.

Hi everyone.  Had a good night's sleep and even slept in a bit late this mornng.  However, still am feeling tired so plan to just take things pretty easy today.  I hope we will go to church but we are not going to Sunday School.  It was suppose to snow just a little bit but I saw on the weather this morning that the storm veered to the south and is now out of the area.

Janet, I saw on the new this morning about the terrible earthquake and the suanmi that is hitting in Indonesia.  I saw some filrm on Thailand and it indicated the tourists have been told to evacuate certain areas.  Glad you and Darrell are safely back in Kansas.  Sounds like you had a lot of energy in your house yesterday.

John and Beth, it is nice to read your tender message.  Know the days of John's visit are going by too quickly to suit you both.  Just enjoy every moment and you will have a lot of nice memories of this time period.

Etta Sue, hope you are able to see Jerry's family today and then enjoy time with Ivalou and her family.  Hope your brother has a good trip to Florida.

My sister called last evening and we had a nice visit.  They were spending Christmas day with my BIL's mother and family.  Their family had been together on Wednesday as that fit the schedule of her children.

Welcome daves_sweettater to CP.

Marilyn, I look forward to seeing your photos.

Trials and Pain: Another Day of Preparation

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed
what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be
like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this
hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
--1 John 3:2-3

Know that our living Lord is unspeakably pure. He is sinless,
spotless, immaculate, stainless. In His person is an absolute
fullness of purity that our words can never express. This fact alone
changes our entire human and moral situation and outlook. We can
always be sure of the most important of all positives: God is God
and God is right. He is in control. Because He is God He will never
change!

I repeat: God is right-always. That statement is the basis of all
we are thinking about God.

When the eternal God Himself invites us to prepare ourselves to be
with Him throughout the future ages, we can only bow in delight and
gratitude, murmuring, "Oh, Lord, may Your will be done in this
poor, unworthy life!"

I can only hope that you are wise enough, desirous enough and
spiritual enough to face up to the truth that every day is another
day of spiritual preparation, another day of testing and discipline
with our heavenly destination in mind.
Jesus, Author of our Faith, pp. 92-93

"Lord, today I enter the day on my knees with this thought
welling up in my heart: 'God is God and God is right. He is in
control.' 'Oh, Lord, may Your will be done in this poor, unworthy
life!' Amen."

Hello, everyone!  How are you this lovely day?  We have bright sunshine today.

Darrel and I went to Sunday School and church, very small group there, but God was there, and He is the One Who makes the difference!  Do you notice, as I do, how God will bring something to your attention twice or more in a very short time?  He really desires for us to "get it!"  This morning on one of the TV broadcasts I watch, the pastor was using verses from Ecclesiastes; then the morning sermon in church used them as well.  Thanks, God.

Larry, I haven't watched any news for a while, but will watch now and see what part of Thailand was affected by those storms.  Thank you, and I'm glad we are safely home, too.

One of the CDs I had made at Walmart seems to be blank, and I'm so disappointed, because the card was cleared, and there were some important (to me) photos on there---150 of them!  :'(

Pat, I hope you are continuing to enjoy happy times with your family.  Little David Hugh (or is it Hugh David?) is old enough this year to really have a great time.  Kids are such fun to watch at Christmas!

John, good to see that you posted today.  And yes, you stole my clock!!  >:(  But I will get you next year!  In the meantime, I will enjoy my movie "Two Brothers."

In explanation, at our family time, the adults and older kids each buy a gift worth a certain amount, then we number them and play the Chinese Gift exchange, or some call it Dirty Santa.  The first one opens a gift, then the second can steal that or open another.  The game ends when the final gift is opened.

I want to enjoy some quiet time for a while.  Later, my son Jim is bringing his daughter Katy out and she will stay with me for a couple of days.  I'm so happy, because Katy lives in Seattle, Washington with her Mom and we don't get to see her nearly often enough.  I think George will live with Jim but he will be there when Katy comes for holidays and summer vacation.  I took a cute photo of Katy holding George yesterday, will have to post that.

See you sweet people later!

I understand, Janet. All the pix I took in England disappeared from my camera before I could learn how to unload them. Bummer.

I would appreciate some prayer today - my hips and back are so painful I've been in bed since we got home yesterday and am going to break down and take a strong painkiller to try to make me "fit" to get up and do a bit.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Sue

Thank you Janet for the name of the game you play.  My family has played it for several years but I never knew what it was called.  This year it was decided the the "gift" was to be a practical one.  One got batteries, another got lotion, another got some food, another (me) got boxes of tissues and some chocolate, and other gifts along that line.  New Years Day is when our family will have our big gathering and will have another gift exchange, but this time, will just be a a dollar value as the only restriction to the gift.

We had an enjoyable day yesterday with dinner, but alas arrived home to a sad message on the answering machine.  A friend of my partner's had passed away about a half hour before we arrived home.  His service is to be tomorrow.

On a happier note, a co-worker of mine who has been gravely ill, was to have been released from the hospital (God-willing) late in the afternoon of the 24th and will not have to return to the hospital at all unless he becomes ill again.  Thank you everyone for your prayers.

Belated Birthday wishes Chris.

Merry Christmas everyone, and may all of you have a Happy and Blessed New Year.

Hi Everyone...

I'm sitting here making some calendars for my kids and I'm printing them at high quality so that each time I print several, I just can't do anything else on the computer!

I'm so sorry that you've lost photos, Ruth Ann and Janet!  Wow!  That's horrible.

This Is the Day the Lord Hath Made
(Click to hear music)

This is the day which the Lord hath made.
Psalm 118:24

Words: Isaac Watts, The Psalms of David, 1719

Music: "Arlington," Thomas A. Arne, 1762; arranged by Ralph Harrison, 1784

This is the day the Lord hath made;
He calls the hours His own;
Let heav'n rejoice, let earth be glad,
And praise surround the throne.

Today He rose and left the dead,
And Satan's empire fell;
Today the saints His triumphs spread,
And all His wonders tell.

Hosanna to th'anointed King,
To David?s holy Son;
Help us, O Lord; descend and bring
Salvation from Thy throne.

Blest be the Lord, Who comes to men
With messages of grace;
Who comes in God His Father's Name,
To save our sinful race.

Hosanna in the highest strains
The Church on earth can raise;
The highest heav'ns, in which He reigns,
Shall give Him nobler praise.

Heard the terrible news about the huge earthquake in Indonesia and Sri Lanka.  I was reading int on World Vision that they want people to send in money for relief for those poor people.  Such devastation.

The death toll across Asia from tsunamis triggered by a huge earthquake off Indonesia grows to more than 11,000.

This is the breaking news from CNN.  It is the worst earthquake in nearly 50 years.  It is good that Janet and Darrel and their group made it safely home, but we need to pray for the thousands upon thousands who have lost everything ... including family members.   :'(
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Sonifo

We just got back from the movies.  LOL..it was so funny!

Hope you all are having a good evening.

Janet

I have been watching the news of the awful earthquake and tsunami in Asia, too.  How terrible it is!  There were divers in the water off southern Thailand, and lots of dive boats that are at present unaccounted for, as well as 200 cottages at 2 resorts that were swept out to sea.  I cannot imagine a storm of that magnitude!!

Thank you, Jane and Larry, for the well wishes for our being home.  I'm so glad we weren't on a dive trip in the South of Thailand at that time.  I am chatting with my young friend, Joe, in Thailand now.  He said there was no damage in Bangkok, so that is a mercy.

Pat, I'll bet the calendars are lovely!  Your kids should really appreciate them.

I have started another group of Thailand photos, if anyone has time to look.

Katy is wanting to use my computer, so guess I will get off and let her at it!

Carol

We talked with all the children tonight as they go back to work tomorrow and their nights during the week get so hectic that we hesitate to call.  Further, our son & son-in-law usually fly out of town but since it is holiday time they will be home another week - working out of their houses.  Son drove safely but carefully to the Ft. Worth region and encountered snow/ice on the way.  It should be over for their return trip.

the devastation in Thailand and the other areas is enormous.  Those poor people.

I read most of the notes and send greetings to each and every one of you.  Today, I made an extra buttonhole in Don's new shirt and sewed a button on all on the machine - I had forgotten how easy it is to do.  Had to pick up a prescription at the drug store and do remember the days when all were closed on Sunday.  Sad that so many places had sales beginning early this Sunday morning.  It just doesn't interest me in the least.

Hello, all!  Christmas has come and gone, and now life in a more normal way must go on....

So sorry to hear of the death of Reggie White, a great Christian in the NFL, today.  He was a long-time Green Bay Packer, then played a season for Carolina, then retired.  He was 43 and died of a massive heart attack.

Also so dreadfully sad to hear of the tragedy in the East...  Lord, help, I pray.

I hope all of you have a good night.  God bless all of you!

Nard
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Check out my blog at www.bernardshuford.com.

Bob is okay

Well the death toll is over 14,500 now. I expected it to rise higher, my prayers for caught in the quake and wave.

Resting with the Lord.
Bob

Pat

What a catastrophe!

I'm so very glad that you're home, Janet!  Oh, my!  Yes, Lord, teach us how to pray!
