JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY EVERYONE!!!

It's been a year today, April 9, since the doors to this website were opened and it's been a very interesting year.  We've seen many folks come and go and today we have 187 registered members.

Today, I thought that we'd look at a list of the ones that joined us on April 9, 2003--some within minutes of the site opening to the public!

Each of the names are clickable and if you would like to click on their names and send them a PM (Private Message), please do.  These were our very first members of Christian Photographers.

Something to talk about...

I wondered if we could, today, spend some time telling each other what CP has meant to us during this past year.

• Has it been a blessing to you?
• Have you learned new things regarding God's Word?
• Have you enjoyed looking at each others photographs?
• Do you enjoy singing the hymns?
• What new things would you like to see added to our website?
• Was there a humorous event that you remember happening this past year?

What is your favorite scripture verse?
Let's share today
.

I would like to publicly thanks those who have been helping during this past year.  Without the several Moderators and my fellow Administrator, Larry Hanna, I could never have been able to get through this year!  ;D  Thanks so much my fellow Mods!

Have a look at our very first New Every Morning of one year ago by clicking on this link...NEM of April 9, 2003.  Not only was Soni our very first new member when the site opened, she was also the very first person to post a message after I opened it!  ;D

Surely just as we opened our great website one year ago by singing this chorus togeter, we can sing this today on our First Anniversary with real meaning as we celebrate one year together on this site.

Let's Just Praise the Lord
(Click to hear music)

Let's just praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let's just lift our hearts to heaven and praise the Lord;
Let's just praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let's just lift our hearts to heaven and praise the Lord!

Let's just praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let's just lift our hearts to heaven and praise the Lord;
Let's just praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let's just lift our hearts to heaven and praise the Lord!

As we start afresh our second year on Christian Photographers, let's remember what our main webpage says...

We are a group of people who, first of all, love the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and enjoy sharing together.

and let's again refresh our memory as to what our Purpose is:

The Christian Photographer's website has several purposes:

• To glorify and magnify God through His creation.
• To lead the lost to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
• To share requests and pray for one another.
• To encourage and inspire those who need it.
• To share tips and techniques for taking better photographs.
• To enjoy fellowship with believers in all countries.

Happy Anniversary!  I don't get here much but it is a fun place to visit.  Keep up all the hard work!  Mary

Papa John

Thanks again to Pat, the wonder woman, who does so much to provide us with our CP forum.  This year like all of them seems to have passed by so very quickly.

When I look back I have to say thank you all my CP brothers and sisters for your prayers when I was very sick in the hospita lthis last year.  Heart attack, colon cancer, colon surgery, cardiac arrest, blood clot, pneumonia --- all these things came one after the other.  The prayers of my family, my church, my friends in CP, were powerful to bring me back when they thought I wasn't going to make it.  Hospital pictures:   http://hospital1.homestead.com/index.html

I have enjoyed the pictures of our members.  A picture IS worth a thousand words.  They make us feel like we really know each other.  And of course I enjoy the pictures over in Photography from the very amateurish like mine to the very professional looking pictures like Soni's.

And, of course, I have enjoyed the devotionals which daily remind me that what is important each day is God's will for my life.  Whatever happens to us God is there for us.

Also, I have enjoyed the questions.  Some of them hard and some very easy.  We need to be inquisitive and we need to ask questions and search for their answers.

2 Pet 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
(KJV)

So I will give Pat the first prize for this web site.  Thank you Pat.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO CP!!  AND MANY MORE!!Heartiest congratulations to our able Captain, Pat, for steering the CP ship through the rocks and troubled waters, as well as the many days of smooth water and beautiful sailing!  We love you!  :-* :-* :-* :-* ;D

I was here earlier and made my post, but our server had a blip and it was lost. :'(

This has been a great year.  A year of mighty blessings and miracles:  Papa John's being restored to us tops the list!  Thank you, dear Lord!!

One of the most special things about CP to me, is our Prayer area, where we have the privilege of praying for each other's needs, and asking prayer for ours. Then we get to read those wonderful praise reports, too!

I love all the photographs, too.  It helps us to get to know each other better, and we get to see beauty from all over the world!  Great!

I love getting to meet all of you, hearing about your families, your daily activities, your hopes, dreams, disappointments and triumphs.  We ARE a family here on CP.

I do miss our brother Iain.

I will be back later to chat with you some more.  It is overcast here, and they are predicting a low of 24 degrees tonight.  :'( :'( :'(  I am praying it will not happen, as we have tiny fruit on our trees now.

Yes, this site has been a blessing to me and my family.  I have learned so much in the past year.  More than I have in the past 10 years.

I have been blessed with meeting and getting to know so many folks on here.

I have been blessed by so many people praying for my family, especially Zachery, who needs pray all the time.
:'( Thanks!

Janet

Soni, I miss our Zachery's happy posts.  Please tell him to come back and talk to us!  And please keep us updated on his condition, so that we can pray specifically for his needs.  We sure love all of your family, and Zachery is so special!

Isn't this just so true?

Isn't the Love of Jesus Something Wonderful?

Author:  John W. Peterson, b. 1921
Musician:  John W. Peterson, b. 1921

There will never be a sweeter story,
Story of the Saviour's love divine,
Love that brought Him from the realms of glory
Just to save a sinful soul like mine.

Refrain:
Isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful,
Wonderful, wonderful!
O isn't the love of Jesus something wonderful!
Wonderful it is to me.

Boundless as the universe around me,
Reaching to the farthest soul away—
Saving, keeping love it was that found me;
That is why my heart can truly say:

Love beyond our human comprehending,
Love of God in Christ— how can it be?
This will be my theme and never ending,
Great, redeeming love of Calvary.

Happy Birthday CP and congratulations and many thanks to all who have worked on this site!  Blessings and easy techie fixes for the years ahead for you as well.

Janet:  I hope that your temperatures won't drop that drastically but we are having wintery weather here as well - no fruit trees.  I did watch Condi Rice being grilled yesterday and believe she is so sharp and articulate but a few men came across poorly when the camera turned to them.

Papa John:  Just did not remember all you have been through this last year.  Now, everything in your body must be fixed after all that trauma.  We pray so.

I am cleaning house and preparing for Easter dinner here and the forecast called for some wintery weather so will have to see what happens.

Pat:  What are you doing for Easter?  We used to go to sunrise services some years but it doesn't look good for this year.

Happy Anniversary, CP!!!!!  I think I am blessed because if it werent for this site, I wouldn't have met Sonja, her family, Pat, Judy Mc, and Beverly during the past year!  And Jane was so close, I felt I met her also!!!  Thank you, God!  I love the fellowship here and the awesome photos!!!!!!!!

Marilyn ~ Thanks for the link.  I don't have a security problem...just that my microphone doesn't work.  I have done all the tests and it seems that something isn't hooked up...no sound is detected when I run the test.  Yes, you can record your own voice or whatever....go to All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder.  I did this all the time when I had Windows 98SE.  With this new compressor, I can't.  I have emails my guru!!!  Also thank you for your comments on my photos in the Wood and Water challenges.

Janet ~ I agree about TV.  Another reason I have Ultimate TV and I record what I like to watch when I want to watch it.  I think the commercials are as bad as the programs....fast forward through them when they are recorded.  Hope you get relief from your 2-3 hours of sleeplessness.

Jane ~ I am sure and positive that you had a wonderful visit with your daughter and granddaughters.  Just wish you lived nearer to me...I would drive you wherever you would like to go and maybe where you wouldn't like to go...  The 11th was my husband's birthday.

Larry ~
QuoteEtta Sue, have you checked your volume control panel to be sure that the microphone control isn't either muted or set to its softest setting?  Also, are you sure you have the microphone in the right plug in your sound card.  Voice of experience as I have had both of these things happen to me.
Does making sure I have the microphone in the right plug mean on the inside of the case?  If so, no I haven't.  I did make sure the microphone is plugged in the right spot...at least, it has a microphone icon near the plug.

Joyce ~ Your words are very comforting.  Have a great trip over the Easter Holiday.

Janet

Hello there, Marbeth!  Don't let Al's laughing intimidate you!  I needed a class beginning with "This is the ON button" when I started, and I am still muddling along and making many mistakes with computer stuff.  Thos organized people like Etta Sue and Pat would have appoplexia if they got on my computer and tried to find stuff! :-[

Carol, I agree about Condi Rice--I am SO proud of her!  That one guy thought he was being so smart when he kept calling her "Dr. Clark" and I wondered how long she would tolerate it.  I was happy when she finally said she didn't think she looked like Dick Clark!  President Bush made a good choice when he picked her.  She is one very intelligent lady!

Today is the one year anniversary of the toppling of Saddam's statues in Iraq.  Been a long year in that country, and our people there need our continuing and fervent prayers.  Please remember to include Jane's dear grandson Bryan in your prayers.

Etta Sue, you're right about the commercials!  Ugh.

QuoteHave you learned new things regarding God's Word?

I have learned so much.  If it wasn't for Etta Sue recommendation for the book "The Purpose Driven Life" I wouldn't be as happy as I am now.  I feel Like I am headed on the right track now. I have asked many questions on here and got many answers.  I have learned to read the Word daily and understand it better.

Thanks to Papa John and his "Verse inserts". He usually posts what I need to hear for the day.

Jenny was a big help when she would post her lovely post about different situations.  That girl knows her Bible.

And last is Ms. Patsy, Pat, Mum, Bestest gal ever!  Her devotions everyday helped me to learn about daily living in God's word.  Each devotion has taught me something new. You rock, Pat! This is for you.

Happy Anniversery to all our members and most of all the Pat who has worked wonder on this site.

I haven't been toread the pasts from last year yet. you would not believe theproblems I am having with this computer.
I did a system restore after i did two different virus scans. I had an email from someone I don't know that said they received a virus from me.  I didn't let it load into my computer  read it on the web site.

Then this morning  Avant browser would not let me get on to any website so I uninstalled it. I have been messing with this compouter foor a few days now trying and doing everything that Dell tells me to do. I uninstalled that  Serive pack that I loaded in yesterday. Took out Kerio firewall and some other programs.

How frustrating it gets when things just do not go right.

I have also made potatoe salad during the wiatign times  with the computer.  YEOW I am ready to tear out my hair.

I am using Internet Explorer now, I ready did like the Avant  browser that Larry recommended.

I do want to wish CP'ers a Happy Anniversary.  Some of you may be in church at this hour.  Since our church has a "drop-in" anytime format for Good Friday I am not in church at this hour.

I have gathered that some of you are related...maybe all of you are.  Some of you are from scattered areas of the US and Canada.

I have enjoyed so much being on CP over the last few months and I thank Pat for inviting me to register.   Thank you Pat for showing me all the instruction concerning the computer.

I value the PRAYER REQUEST area and feel it is SO important to pray for each other.

I also love NEW EVERY MORNING with all the interesting posts.

I have had a great encouragement when I post in NEM and such blessing to be able to post some prayer requests about my family and friends.   Thank you everyone who has prayed.

It has been fun putting pictures in the PHOTOGRAPH area.  I don't have a scanner and so I thank Pat for doing that for me.

Overall Christian Photographers has been a huge success and I will personally pray for GOD'S RICHEST BLESSING in the coming year.

I've got one thing to say about CP:

"Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear His voice.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice!
Oh come to the Father,
through Jesus the Son.
And give Him the glory -
great things He hath done!"

Janet

Yes, we are all related!  We are brothers and sisters in the Lord!  We are family!

Darrel and I now have several blue trees in the yard.  We wrapped them in blue plastic and blue tarps, and are praying for protection against the hard freeze that is predicted for the next two nights.

I need to fix something for a carry-in dinner for my painting group tomorrow.  Any suggestions?  (Yeah, I know--go to In the Kitchen!)

WELCOME, LARRY THE THIRD! ;) ;D ;D  Glad to have you with us!

To God Be The Glory
(Click to hear music)

God and our Father:
To Whom be glory for ever.
Galatians 1:4-5

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: W. Howard Doane

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

It isn't so easy (or comfortable) to sit at the computer and type.  I bend over to the right and can move the mouse okay, so that's what I've been doing for a while.

I do want to come party with y'all today, though!  It is really hard to believe this year has gone by already.  Then I look back and marvel that so many events and situations have been packed so tightly into only one year!  So much has happened ... hopefully we have all grown in the Lord and learned to let Him keep us steady.  I so praise Him for how He has kept me close to His heart this year.  I don't ever want to move out of this place of intimacy with Him.

PAT~You have been an inspiration to many of us--not the least of whom is me!  Thank you for hanging in there when the going got tough, and you were suffering physically...God has been good to you, and to us through you!

Here's to another God-filled year at CP!

if you have nothing to eat, if your house is on fire -- then
you've got a problem. Everything else is an inconvenience. Life

Let's remember too that this is Good Friday...  Maybe this hymn would be nice to sing at this time...

There Is a Green Hill Far Away
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Cecil F. Alexander, 1818-1895
Musician:  George C. Stebbins, 1846-1945

There is a green hill far away,
Outside a city wall,
Where the dear Lord was crucified,
Who died to save us all.

Refrain
O dearly, dearly, has He loved,
And we must love Him, too,
And trust in His redeeming blood,
And try His works to do.

We may not know, we cannot tell,
What pains He had to bear;
But we believe it was for us
He hung and suffered there.

Refrain

He died that we might be forgiven,
He died to make us good,
That we might go at last to heaven,
Saved by His precious blood.

Refrain

There was no other good enough
To pay the price of sin;
He only could unlock the gate
Of heaven and let us in.

Refrain

O dearly, dearly has He loved,
And we must love Him, too,
And trust in His redeeming blood,
And try His works to do.

I also see that I have been elevated up from NEWBIE...it only took 50 postings.  Maybe after another 50 postings, I will have started using all of the tools that are available.

It tells me that a whole lot of work goes into maintaining this site....something that I don't have the patience for learning how to set up, even use.

No, not all SeniorNet or relatives.  Many have come to us from Google and some from various photo sites as well.

There was a site also called "Christian Photography" and the original owner decided to shut it down very quickly and that's when I decided to open "Christian Photographers" and many came from that other site, Ed.

Hi everyone.  Of all the days to be late getting here to post! :D

I also join in welcoming Marbeth, Larry and sr_96 to CP and Marbeth the computer opens the world to us and we all had to start at the point you are with that first day when there seemed to be so much to learn.

This has been quite a year here on CP and I also want to say a very special thank you to Pat for inviting me to become a part of it as I didn't know the site existed until she wrote to me.

Pat and I have worked together for several years, since the beginning of the SeniorNet website, and had the opportunity to first meet at a national SeniorNet Conference in Wilmington, North Carolina and then again here in Atlanta at a SeniorNet Bash.

There is no doubt in my mind that my spiritual life has been strengtened during this last year as I have read the daily devotionals and the the writings of person who has joined with us here.

My life has also been impacted in making some wonderful cyberspace friendships as on a daily basis we share a little glimpse into our lives and share our prayer needs, joys and sadnesses.

I believe we have also seen so many examples of God's blessings in our lives as we have been able to share here.

While I am not a photographer (probably always be an amateur along with Papa John) but enjoy seeing the many beautiful photo postings and to my eye they are each a work of art.

Since I love music I have certainly enjoyed the hymns that we have here on CP and the links that Chris has shared with us.

I look forward to year two on CP, continuing to enjoy and share with the friends made this last year here and the new folks who we hope will be joining with us.

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Here you are, Marilyn...  This was how I woke up every dialysis day.  Jack would shave and then get his shower and in the shower, he'd sing at the top of his voice, "Victory in Jesus" and when I heard that, I knew I had to get up.

Victory in Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Eugene. M. Bartlett

I heard an old, old story, How a Saviour came from glory,
How He gave His life on Calvary To save a wretch like me;
I heard about His groaning, Of His precious blood's atoning,
Then I repented of my sins And won the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about His healing, Of His cleansing pow'r revealing,
How He made the lame to walk again And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried "Dear Jesus, Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't To me the victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I heard about a mansion He has built for me in glory,
And I heard about the streets of gold Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing, And the old, redemption story,
And some sweet day I'll sing up there The song of victory.

Chorus:
O victory in Jesus, My Saviour, forever,
He sought me and bought me With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory, Beneath the cleansing flood.

I love the hymns!  Some of the songs I don't know, but yes I love the hymns.  I really like it when Pat puts in the story about who wrote the hymn.

Marilyn ~ I didn't realize you have been smoke free for so long.  Congratulations!!!!  I am very proud of you.  That was a big undertaking.  Also I am glad you got your pc fixed.  That can be very frustrating when they don't work as we expect them too.

Sonja ~ I forgot to thank you for the kind words you said earlier about me introducing you to "The Purpose Driven Life".  That sure makes me feel good that something I said had so much impact on someone else.  We can never have too much happiness, right!!!  And having Christ in our lives gives us the ultimate of happiness!  Our God is an awesome God!!!!

Your welcome, Etta Sue:-*

QuoteWhat new things would you like to see added to our website?

Not a thing.  I think this site is growing just fine.

I do wish that the teen room would have worked out.  Oh well, maybe later on.

Pat

Yes, maybe later.  I think Zac's the only one around right now and he'd be talking to himself.

I had the Purpose Driven Life when I went for my Dr. appt. yesterday. I got into two different conversation with the Nurse Practicioners and one of the Doctors about the book and recommended that they read it. Both said thank you and they would definitely read it as they had heard so much about it.

I have just posted  2 pics of the quilt  just finished a few days ago.

We are a busy place today Praise the Lord!!! I do believe we will set a record.

Has anyone else been over to visit Zac's new web site? Check it out.

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, I'm probably going to be one of the latest posters, but had to work late today. CP is my lifeline - the wonderful devotions and I am so appreciative of the opportunity to pray with and be prayed for by those on the Prayer and Praise forum.

Hopefully I can participate more, and in a bigger way VERY soon.

I'm still mystified as to how Pat finds the wonderful devotionals. This is definitely a ministry - not only to those of us who are members, but I've sent many guests to this site, too. Only time will tell how many people have been blessed, inspired, challenged, loved, healed, restored - there are other verbs that could be used to tell what I believe this site does for those who read it.

Ruth Ann has said it all.  Thank you Pat.

Coming to CP is truly finding 'Finding Shelter in a Time of Storm.'

God Bless,

Amazing Love
(Click to hear music)

My Lord what love is this?
That paid so dearly
That I, the guilty one, may go free.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

And so, they watched Him die
Despised and rejected
But oh, the blood He shed, flowed for me.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

And now, this love of Christ
Will flow, like rivers
Come wash, your guilt away, And live again.

Chorus:
Amazing love, oh what sacrifice
The Son of God, given for me
My debt He paid, and my death He died
That I, might live.
That I, might live.

MY TRIBUTE
(Click to hear music)

by Andrae Crouch

How can I say thanks
for  the things you have done for me?
Things so undeservered,
Yet You gave to prove Your love to me?
The voices of a million angels
Could not express my gratitude.
All that I am and ever hope to be
I owe it all to Thee.

To God be the glory,
To God be the glory,
To God be the glory,
For the things He has done.
With His blood
He has saved me,
With His power
He has raised me,
To God be the glory
For the things He has done.

Just let me live my life
Let it be pleasing, Lord, to Thee;
And should I gain any praise,
Let it go to Calvary.

With His blood
He has saved me
With His pow'r
He has raised me,
To God be the glory
For the things He has done,

Pat you have kept me busy with the music I have really enjoyed it.

Yes I have dated ourselves both Mel and I started to work for Langdons in April of 1970 the exact date I am not sure  although I think it was around now.

Yes, every other post is white and the other is blue.

I just checked in the Control Panel and it doesn't say "Deny"  for deleting posts but it says "Allow" so I don't know why you can't.  I'll investigate that further but not tonight.

If someone else doesn't pop in quickly, I will be post #108!!  Is that a record, Pat?

What a fun day it has been here on CP.  We were away this afternoon, then I went to the Easter Pageant tonight at the care home where my Mom lives.

Tomorrow is my painting group day, so I won't be on until afternoon.

I wish you all a wonderful night!

Let's continue it tomorrow!  Thanks so much everyone for all the nice comments.  I'll read over today's topic again when I have more time.

Now, last year on our second day, we had over 90 posts.  Let's see if we can do that again!
