JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

By faith Abraham, when he was called. . . obeyed.
Hebrews 11:8

Faith and obedience go together.

Because Abraham believed God's promises he obeyed and willingly left his old life, customs and even his land. His obedience was the evidence that he believed.

Is my faith in Christ resulting in daily obedience to Him?

If I am unwilling to relinquish my old lifestyle, I need to check to see whether I have really exercised genuine faith in Christ.

The Bible tells me that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; the old has gone, the new has come (2 Cor. 5:17).

Since Jesus Came Into My Heart
(Click to hear music)

I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I will come in.
Revelation 3:20

Words: Rufus H. McDaniel, 1914. McDaniel wrote these words after the death of his son.
Music: Charles H. Gabriel, 1914

What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought
Since Jesus came into my heart!
I have light in my soul for which long I had sought,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

Since Jesus came into my heart,
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Floods of joy o?er my soul
Like the sea billows roll,
Since Jesus came into my heart.

I have ceased from my wandering and going astray,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And my sins, which were many, are all washed away,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

I?m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

There?s a light in the valley of death now for me,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And the gates of the City beyond I can see,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

I shall go there to dwell in that City, I know,
Since Jesus came into my heart!
And I?m happy, so happy, as onward I go,
Since Jesus came into my heart!

Refrain

Anthony

Wow, this is the first time of being the first poster in ages.  I am impressed.  Today is Bank Holiday and I am preparing myself with a day of football with some of the children from church.  It takes me about 2 days to recover  ;D ;D  I might even take some photographs  :o :o

Pat, I think that I must say that the devotionals over the past few days have really helped me a great deal.  It is so nice to think that we have this forum to augment the work of our own local churches.  The thoughts this morning are helpful too.  It is wonderful to read through Hebrews 11.  It reminds me of the hymn:

What have I to fear, what have I to dread,
Leaning on the Everlasting arms.
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
leaning on the Everlasting arms.

I only have a little faith, but it is a little faith in a great God.  Praise the Lord.

I am sorry not to reply to each post, but thank you all for your prayers.  Most of you know how stressful it is to try to help someone who is sick.  I appreciate your prayers and will remember to pray for you too.  I will  pop by later to say hi.

God bless,

Anthony.
"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things."

Jenny

Goodmorning.

I am only calling in  to say Hi Janet, I read your posts re the party. Wonderful!

I am thrilled for Beth re John's declaration of love for her.  Praise God!!!

That's all for now, I will pop in later.

Love,
Jenny.

Kathy

........since Jesus came into my heart!!  Wonderfu!!!!..
thanks, Pat

The hurricane is finally over.. 6 inches of rain in my guage, the swing was overturned in the yard, the plants on the porch were blown down...but everything else seems okay here at my house...no downed trees that I can tell (it's still dark outside).  Let's pray for the others in the path of destruction.  There were tornados that spun off and I have already read in the news this AM about some of the damage on Isle of Palms, Charleston, etc.   :-[

Off to my Bible study. :)

Hello all!  Travis has gotten into the habit of waking up when his daddy leaves for work, so we seem to be getting out of bed earlier and earlier.  The good thing is that gives me a few extra minutes to "chill" and get a jump on some chores, the down side is that I like to sleep!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful, productive monday, and that God blesses you richly today.

:-)

Etta Sue

Janet ~ I just knew you would be on cloud nine in reporting about Beth's party!  What a wonderful tribute to Beth and John's admission of love for Beth?....well, that was the icing on the cake.   :-* :-*

It is cold here.  Only 61 degrees and I am leaving with Ivalou to see my doctor.  Nothing drastic.  Just going to hear what the doctor says about my blood work that was done so he can put on a new shingle or two on his house!!!!  For no more than he will say, why can't they just call you on the phone?  No, they need that money so they insist on an office call.  I wish I had a list of 20 things to ask but if I did, he would have 20 answers that would take my money to fix!!!  What a run around!!!

Am I doom and gloom because it is gloomy outside today?  I hope that is it.  I like to feel elated!

Good Morning to y-all.

Jenny How are you feeling today? Has your medication helped you to get over the virus.

Pat I hope you are feeling much better today too.

Janet, I forgot to post to you last night.  I am so happy for Beth, I have been wondering when  John would proclaim his love for her. I am so happy that the party went as planned and that Beth had such a wonderful time. She sure deserves to be happy and so blessed to have you for her mother. I am looking forward to seeing the photos.

Anthony I pray that you will enjoy your day with the children and hhope that you will come back and tell us all about it and bring photos too.

This morning it is WM's. We are making the decorations for our annual fund raiser for the Christmas stockings to the needy here in McKinleyville and to a church in Portland Oregon. We are putting on a Luau Sept. 12th. We have aklready prepared the food that can be put in the freezer.

Well the dogs are running through the house sdo I had to pause here and go close the bedroom door, they like to slide across the bed and all the covers end up on the floor.

Hey Etta Sue, The PA (Physicians Assistant) in my doctor's office is someone you would really like, she takes her time and makes sure that all your questions are answered.  have spent an hour with her on most appointments. She makes sure that your have asked all your questions and that she has answered  them.

Good morning!  I got a FULL night's sleep last night, without even taking one Tylenol!  Praise God, Praise God!  I'm feeling GOOD!  I went and had my swim, and the water just felt wonderful.  I think I'm almost manic today..... ;D

I am going to try to wind up everything from the party, ie paying bills, returning a left dish, making some calls, do some cleaning, some framing, some ordering of matboard and frames, so I have plenty to do today.

Anthony, have a great Bank Holiday!  What is that, anyway?  Here, banks take a holiday anytime there is an excuse, but we don't have one called Bank Holiday.  I hope your Mom is better by now.  Beth's friend John also lives with and takes care of his elderly mother.

Good morning hugs to Pat, Anthony, Jane, Karma, Marilyn, Etta Sue, Sarah, Kathy and Jenny!

See you later!  :D ;)

Hi everyone.  Not much to write about this morning since I posted last evening.  Still trying to get my daughter's computer to do the setup on Windows XP after reformatting the hard drive.  I found something to try by reading on the Microsoft site but it that doesn't work I guess I will have to incur the expense of taking it somewhere to have it fixed.  The computer is only 2 years old and has a Pentium 4 processor so certainly isn't worn out.

Janet, glad to read you had a good nights sleep.  Amazing what a difference adequate sleep can make in how a person feels.  I am happy for Beth with the news you shared.

Anthony, hope today finds your mother better.  Enjoy your football outing with the young people.

Kathy, glad you survived the storm without anything major happening.  I hear on the news there is a new hurricane headed to the Miami area by this weekend.  Glad I live inland.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Ed

I had an indentical problem w/ my Windows XP.  It crashed.  When I bought it two years, I did not get a start-up CD.  I could have requested one during the warranty period, but would have had to pay after the warranty expired.  A word to the wise is sufficient.

Fortunately for me, I have a niece who helps me out when it crashes....all it costs me is a gift certificate to Mongolian BQ.  Actually they don't want anything, but......

Evangelism: Modern Salesmanship

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been
of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that
they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.
--1 John 2:19

In our eagerness to make converts I am afraid we have lately been
guilty of using the technique of modern salesmanship, which is of
course to present only the desirable qualities in a product and
ignore the rest. We go to men and offer them a cozy home on the
sunny side of the brae. If they will but accept Christ He will give
them peace of mind, solve their problems, prosper their business,
protect their families and keep them happy all day long. They believe
us and come, and the first cold wind sends them shivering to some
counselor to find out what has gone wrong; and that is the last we
hear of many of them....

By offering our hearers a sweetness-and-light gospel and promising
every taker a place on the sunny side of the brae, we not only
cruelly deceive them, we guarantee also a high casualty rate among
the converts won on such terms. On certain foreign fields the
expression "rice Christians" has been coined to describe those who
adopt Christianity for profit. The experienced missionary knows
that the convert that must pay a heavy price for his faith in Christ
is the one that will persevere to the end. He begins with the wind
in his face, and should the storm grow in strength he will not turn
back for he has been conditioned to endure it.

By playing down the cost of discipleship we are producing rice
Christians by the tens of thousands right here on the North
American continent.  That Incredible Christian, 116-117.

"Lord, I suspect this is getting much worse even since Tozer's
day. In our emphasis on growth and success we may indeed be
guilty of producing rice Christians. Deliver us from that error.
Amen."

Janet, thank you for your good report on the party for Beth.  I am glad it all turned out so well.

Anthony, I am so sorry about your mother.  I hope that things will improve for her soon.  LEANING ON THE EVERLASTING ARMS is one of the great songs which reminds us that we aren’t alone.  He is always there.

In our service last night our young people gave a report on their summer activities.  Something was going on for them all summer.  Two groups went to Honduras on mission efforts.   We had two summer camps.  There were work camps where they painted or repaired houses.  It was very interesting.

Not much to report on from here today.  It has been a quiet Monday.  Cornelia and I are going out after while to get a few things for dinner tonight.  We may go take a walk in the mall..

Etta, I know how you feel and I know it seems ridiculous, but I think that the law and the courts are the problem.  If I understand correctly, and that's all this is - an understanding - I think it's illegal in most states for a doctor to tell test results to anyone except the patient or their legal guardian.  That makes it difficult for them to use the telephone as they have no proof of their conformance with the law, since they don't know who is on the other end.  As I said, that's my understanding.  I could be wrong.  Any doctors in the house??? :)

Anyway, a quick hello to all.  Gotta get back to work!

Quote from this morning's NEM:

Sanctified Afflictions are spiritual promotions~~Matthew Henry

Would someone please explain this to me?  I am not sure I agree with it...... ???  But am willing to listen to an explanation.  Then if it threatens my faith, I will discard it, because it was spoken by a man, not in the Word.

Beth's card count now stands at 102!  My brother, whom we see maybe once or twice a year, was in town today, and wanted to take Beth and I to lunch, so that was a treat.  I took along the layer cake, and we made some serious inroads on it. ::)  There were seven of us, so I didn't do it by myself.  I'm trying to be careful, as I don't want those lost pounds to find me again. :P

Kathy, I surely am glad you were safe from the storm, and I hope the predicted one doesn't materialize as strongly as they think, and doesn't hit the East coast and do a lot of harm.

I got everything on my list done today!  Yippee!  That's almost a record.  I had a neighbor years ago who said "If you don't get anything done on Monday, you won't get anything done all week."  So my week is off to a good start.

I'm off to make a salad and watch the news.  God bless you all.

Rachelle, I've heard of a lot of those "nine-months tumors"... ;D  Glad it's a blessing and not a curse, for sure!  Good to see you posting again, being a home-schooling mom is sure a full-time job, isn't it?

Marilyn

I am here, I have been loooking through the Michaels Crafts web site and drooling at all the things I would like to have and to make.

Gloria called me today and things a re going along fairly smooth. One of her sisters is giving her a very hard time , yelling at her and telling her she doesn't belong there, The sister is on drugs. She had another ulcer on her foot open up, not a good thing. She will be coming home next Tuesday. Keep on praying, please.

We have a productive morning at WM's today, I completed a Doll quilt and hemmed it using a pretty decorative machine stitch. Got 1/2 of a crib size tied, too.

We are going to have a booth at the December caraft fair, I thing I am going to make Hot Sauce Bottle jackets, sarapes, and sombreros and some crocheted crosses to sell.

Going to watch the convention now.

Marilyn, it sounds like the craft work will be good for you. It certainly takes the mind off of stress for a while, doesn't it.

I bought a pair of pillowcases. I have done beautiful embroidery in the past and my daughter has often expressed the desire to have a set of hand embroidered pillowcases from me. May be one of her Christmas presents.

Thanks be to God, my painful back has decided to behave.

Y'all have a good day.

Oh, Ruth Ann - I'm so happy for you, that you have gotten some relief from the back pain!  How is your son doing these days?  His name is right here., and I can't think of it...starts with "L", I think.

Janet:  I'm so glad Beth's card arrived on time...one just never knows.  I am flabbergasted too...102 cards to date.  She is a very special girl., and now she knows it!  I am so happy for her that John has told her that he loves her.  Betcha weddings bells are just around the corner, huh?  I can't wait to see all the party pictures.  Janet, I bet you were too excited to be tired!
