How To Pray

Phil. 4:6.
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God"

Worry is fobidden - because worry is the outward sign of self dependence instead of God dependence.  God dependence produces prayer and supplication.  The original meaning of these two words is "worship" and "request," and it just means that our hands are lifted toward God, our eyes turned upon His glory, and our words seek His loving intervention in our affairs.  The natural result is "thanksgiving" - cheerful acceptance of His perfect will (even if it isn't what we thought we wanted).  We "lay out our needs/wants" before our loving Father, looking to Him to help us, whether by granting our requests or be instructing us about His better plan for us.

Simply put, we have to quit "fussing and fuming," and turn instead to the wonderfully perfect Lord of our lives - to receive from Him what will, in the long run, be for our absolute best.  We will not be ignored, for He loves us better than we love ourselves.

DOES JESUS CARE?
(Click to hear music)

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress
And the way grows weary and long?

Refrain
Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?

Refrain

Does Jesus care when I've tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?

Refrain

Does Jesus care when I've said "goodbye"
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks,
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?

Refrain

Thank you Al for the devotional.  I would like to pass it on to as hurting sister if that would be ok with you.

7:09 AM and it is still dark.  The temp is -25*C, brrrr it is dark and cold.

I had the joy of taking little Drake to church yesterday.  He wanted to go to church with Gramma.  When he got home Bonnie asked him what he learned.  His response was "Jesus loves me"  Oh to hear those words from a little ones mouth is so precious. My prayer is that he remembers those words as he grows older.

Well I have lunches to make so Bye till tonight

Marilyn,

I'm working on finding an internet radio station.  Things are kinda wild around my house.
Choose you this day who you will serve; As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

Isa 41:10     Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Well I will be back, Love to you all. Alma

Hi everyone from a cloudy, overcast Georgia.  It isn't too cold here today but just dreary looking.  I guess this is what we expect to see fairly often in January.

Al, I hope the dentist puts that crown on your tooth and not your head!  :)  Thanks for the fine devotional today.

Janet, glad to hear that Beth will be coming home where she can get the care she needs.  I can certainly feel your frustration from your postings in knowing what to do to help her.  Wish I knew of something to suggest but know that each of our situations is different.  It certainly appears that she needs to be in some type of assisted living.

Alma, it sounds like you have your hands full.  Hope your sister gets the help she needs.

Babycakes, there are several Internet Christian music sites listed in the following discussion: http://www.christianphotographers.com/community/index.php?topic=1184.0  Hope this is what you are seeking.

JudyB, glad that John found his medication.  With the price of medication it isn't something to trifle with.  It sounds like you have a very active and busy household.  I had to think of the "Out of the mouth of babes" when you mentioned what Drake had learned in Sunday School.

We had a nice time yesterday at the surprise birthday brunch for Pat's friend.  Her three daughters totally surprised her.  There was a house filled with people awaiting her arrival.  The home was very large and the food was delightful.

Hope everyone has a good day.  A special high to those posting that I haven't mentioned by name today.  I have some webwork I need to get done so better get started.

Etta Sue

I am praying for everyones concerns.  I may not reply to each of you individually but just know that I am reading and praying.

Busy day today.  I slept late because of a short night Saturday night.  Today Ivalou is having Euchere Club at her house at 3 p.m. and at 7 p.m. I am leader at Small Groups.  I am great one on one but in a group I turn to mush.  Pray for me as I have been praying for God to give me wisdom and strength to lead my group tonight.  I will be fine.  God is with me!

Bright and sunny in Indiana!  My solar heat is running as I am typing.  The sun is coming in the windows behind me.  What a lovely day God has given us to enjoy!

Another Monday has arrived, and along with it, SNOW!!  Beautiful, fat, wet flakes are falling here in Kansas.  I don't think it will amount to much, but it sure is pretty!

I went to the gym and warmed up on the treadmill, then Kristi worked with me on a lot of stretches.  One leg was shorter, we got that fixed, so some of the pain should alleviate now.  Of course, I didn't do any lifting!  And I may still need to see my chiropractor.

So much to do, and what do I feel like doing?  Taking a nap!  :-[

Thanks for those who have looked at my photos, I will try to post more today.

Larry, I do wish Beth could go to Assisted Living, but the facility here charges $1700.00 per month; plus anything they do for you is an extra charge.  No way can she afford that.

Personal Life: Alone With God
And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His
disciples.
--John 6:3
Just prior to this miraculous multiplying of the bread and fish, Jesus
"went up on a mountainside and sat down with his disciples"(6:3). That
fact is noteworthy. It seems plain that Jesus withdrew purposely from
the great press of people who had been pursuing Him.
There are some things that you and I will never learn when others are
present. I believe in church and I love the fellowship of the
assembly. There is much we can learn when we come together on Sundays
and sit among the saints. But there are certain things that you and I
will never learn in the presence of other people.
Unquestionably, part of our failure today is religious activity that
is not preceded by aloneness, by inactivity. I mean getting alone
with God and waiting in silence and quietness until we are charged
with God's Spirit. Then, when we act, our activity really amounts to
something because we have been prepared by God for it....
Now, in the case of our Lord, the people came to Him, John reports,
and He was ready for them. He had been quiet and silent. He had sat
alone with His disciples and meditated. Looking upward, He waited
until the whole hiatus of divine life moved down from the throne of
God into His own soul. He was a violin tuned. He was a battery
recharged. He was poised and prepared for the people when they came.
Faith Beyond Reason, 130,133.

"Lord, I'll spend a lot of time in the company of people today, but
just now I come in quietness and silence to wait for You to fill
me. Amen."

I too really liked that, Chris.  Thanks much!

Thanks for the devotional today-its go to have know that we Have Jesus who cares about our every need.
The bible tells us he is able to perfect that which concerns us.
So as I look at the prayer request here -I ask the Lord to Perfect that which concerns you. We can be assured that whatever concerns us will concern God. Because he is a God that is touch with the feeling of our infirmities!!

   TELL ME WHERE IT HURTS
MYMP
(KARAOKE MIDI FILE & LYRICS)

Why is that sad look in your eyes
Why are you crying?
Tell me now, tell me now
Tell me, why you're feelin' this way
I hate to see you so down, oh baby!

Is it your heart
Oh, that's breakin' all in pieces
Makin' you cry
Makin' you feel blue
Is there anything that I can do

[CHORUS:]
Why don't you tell me where it hurts now, baby
And I'll do my best to make it better
Yes, I'll do my best to make the tears all go away
Just tell me where it hurts
Now, tell me
And I love you with a love so tender
Oh and if you let me stay
I'll love all of the hurt away   :uglystupid:

Jane Walker

Thanks, AL and Chris & Margit, for the devotionals and music today.  I have known my Father to be exactly as you have shared in the devotionals.  And I do, absolutely, KNOW that He Cares about everything that touches me!   :)

Spending time alone in His Presence is something I do a lot ... not as much as I'd love to do, though.  Every once in a while I have to go out and mingle with "people"  ... oh, well!  He goes with me and that is the blessing.

Etta Sue, I know you will do well at Small Group ... Just carry on as though you were still one on one ... each one there will feel special for your attention!

Janet~I haven't properly welcomed you home!  You were very much missed but I enjoy the photos you brought back!

My prayers are continually with you and Darrel and Beth ... I can't even imagine the stress you are enduring while trying to find solutions.   :-\

I have been reading here for the past few days and I want you all to know that each prayer request and report has been noted and taken to the One who knows exactly how to handle everything and bring it into alignment with His perfect will.

I'll not be able to respond to each who has posted here ... that should teach me to post more often so the list doesn't get so long   :-[

I'll be back later ...
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

I am sure that you will have a great time here so have fun and see you around soooon !! I will be back again soon to share with you all of what is new at this end as it has been very busy and today it is worse so take care and see you all soon !!

Sue

Etta Sue, thank you for posting that recipe for Pizza Soup.  I will be getting the ingredients tomorrow and putting it together for Wednesday's dinner I think.

Liz, an earthquake...ouch!

Janet, welcome home.  I'm sorry to hear that Beth is not doing so well.  I also hope your camera is an inexpensive fix.

I had a quiet weekend and now must go and get a load of laundry done before heading out play euchre tonight.  I was asked to play as a substitue in a local club.

Sue

Janet, I just came back from the gallery and viewing your photos.  Impressive they are!

Papa John

Al, good devotion this morning.  Good luck with the dentist.  I didn't know getting a crown made you a king.  If that is so I have been a king several times in the past.

Good to see everyone today.  We have been quiet around here and not very much has taken place.  I spend a lot of time in my recliner.

We started our reading of the Bible again and are almost through the book of Genesis again.

I'm sure you all will recognize the following from the Story of Joseph.

Gen 39:9  No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God? (NIV)

What a great example Joseph set for our young people.  Today when there are so many temptations our young people (and older ones too) need Jesus in their lives so they can answer temptation the same way Joseph did many centuries ago.

Papa John

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Heer is a laugh for y-all

(1) Zero Gravity

When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat this problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 million developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside-down, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 C.

The Russians used a pencil. Your taxes are due again--enjoy paying them.

(2) Our Constitution

"They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq.  Why don't we just give them ours?  It was written by a lot of really smart guys, and it's worked for over 200 years.

We're not using it anymore."

(3) Ten Commandments

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse is that you cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians .

It creates a hostile work environment.

I sure has got dark since I got home and it is only 3:50 pm I guess the rain will start soon.

I have a prayer request, I have already sent most of you an email on this:
Tomorrow morning at 9AM Pacific time I am having a telephone hearing with Social Security on that "Other Income" they say I have of $35,500 per year. This is not true and I wish I did have that income I sure would not be working or living where I am,. Anyway please pray in my behalf as lead by the Holy Spirit.
I need to get this cleared up.

How dark ARE you now, Marilyn?   Sometimes our typos are really funny.  I can't imagine them having any sort of proof of that additional income, so it shouldn't be too hard to clear up, but will pray about it.

And, how about a loan of, say, $8000?   ;)  No, if it shows up, just enjoy it!!

Papa John, I am 16 days behind on my reading, it will take me a while to catch up again!

I am fasting for three days, only water, then will do a 21 day "Daniel fast" eating only fruits and vegetables.  I feel a strong need to draw closer to God and perceive His will for my life.  This is the end of day two........

Hi Everyone...

Not sure if I've told you all that I haven't been able to drive lately due to a crazy groin problem and my car being gear shift, I can't change gears without screaming!  Not nice to be beside another car and have the guy in that car look at you in dismay after you let out a scream in agony so best stay in!  LOL

Anyway, yesterday, I did go out for awhile.  First time driving the car since Christmas.

As usual, I had my camera and the sun decided to come out for the first time in about 20 days so I thought maybe a photo of the river or something might be nice.  Off I went up the road about 3/4 mile and parked it, managed to get out with the help of Jack's walking stick.  Crossed the road with the cane in one hand and my camera in the other and then stepped on what I thought was rough gravel and immediately took off!  Must have been a sight!  I can see it now as the headlines... "Old lady with walking cane flies in the air!"

I managed to get up after landing on my back and my pride was so hurt that at that moment I didn't mind that a few cars drove by without stopping but today I'm thinking about those guys.

I took my photo and then managed to get back to the car with the help of the retrieved walking stick and now today, I'm finding it sore to sit!  Wonder why!

Anyway, here's the photo I took:

http://www.christianphotographers.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-1710

If you click on the photo, you'll see it larger.

Just thought I'd give you a laugh.

It's a little early but I'm going to bed, so I have asked Pat to open up the door for tomorrow.  Thanks, Pat.
