Morning Devotional...

Proverbs 4:14-16: Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk
in the way of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it
and go on your way. For they cannot sleep till they do evil; they are
robbed of slumber till they make someone fall.

This is a warning against peer pressure, and against envying the ways
of the wicked. Their road leads to death, but that death is sometimes
not so easy to foresee. We should not even think of compromise in
this area, for to compromise is to turn away from the path of wisdom.

Pat

Hi Soni!  (and everyone else!)

Thanks so much Soni for stepping in here and opening our new New Every Morning.  Thanks for the devotional.  I'm so tired that I will read it again in the morning.

It was so nice to visit with cousins today in Toronto.  I hope that Miriam comes often and that we get to know her.

Talk to you tomorrow.

                        LOVE'S TOUCH

Love's touch can change small things

                        love's touch transfigures all things
to impart a precious gift of joy
                                time cannot tarnish -

LUKE 5 : 27 NIV
After this, Jesus went out and saw
a tax collector by the name of Levi
sitting at his tax booth,
"Follow Me", Jesus said to him and Levi got up,
left everything and followed Him.

After capturing the hearts of the crowd,
Jesus now calls another disciple, Levi (Matthew).
Two things are significant about this calling.
First Jesus called someone no other religious
leader would have chosen, a publican.
Second, the publican followed, leaving behind
his livelihood and his fortune.
This is a powerfull reminder that there is no
one we should write off as unreachable with
the Gospel and unusable by our Lord.

Prayer...
Fahter off all nations,
help me see the people
you have placed in my
path today who are ready
to know more about Jesus.
Give me the wisdom and
the awareness to know
when and how to speak
with them about my Saviour
In Jesus name i pray   AMEN

 :)Good morning to all ;)

I missed yesterday completely and will go back to see what I missed later.

Thanks to Sonifo for the Proverbs devotional.  I have always like proverbs.  My favorite version is in the Living Bible.

So glad to see Pat getting away to visit.  You really have your plate full.  I tried to go to the site and see the photos but had to register first.  Maube I went in the wrong door.  I'll try again later the next time I'm on the computer.

Tuesday nite we had the girls final softball game and they (my 3 grands) won for the season.  One of my grandsons is also playing baseball and I haven't been to as many of his games.

Ria, your remodeling job sounds rather big.  Have you posted a picture of your house yet?  I need to get on over to the photo section and do a lot of catching up.  I will have an extra day off for our holiday....Memorial Day on Monday and so that will give me time to do some catching up here on CP.

I am in the process of training a nice young man to replace me at work.  I am planning on retiring in 2 years and then I want to venture out into a new career.  I'm praying that the Lord will lead me whereever He needs me to go and be His witness. Leaving my work will be hard for me because I've been there since 1969 and really grew up in the cottonseed oilmill business as daddy was always an 'oilmill man.'  We moved around as the mills finally closed down and now there is only this one plant left in SC.

May all of you have a blessed day.

love, kathy :)

Wow, Kathy! Such a great term of service! You and I will be "hanging up our hats" about the same time, then, won't we. I probably will retire in February 06.

It was good to awaken this morning and see an email from my son who lives in England. He's been having trouble with his ISP, so I'm glad he could get through to me.

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Just stopping by before leaving for Missouri.  We wanted to meet a SrNetter in Terre Haute but didn't have the phone number.  Told her we would be at her house since I had her address.  Seems she is having plumbing problems at her house so she emailed her phone number.  So the popular place to meet is Cracker Barrel.  Hope she is home when we call and not at her Dr. appointment.

We are off in about a half hour.

Thanks Ria and Kathy.  Proverbs is also my favorite book in the Bible.

Your so welcome, Pat.  Anytime.

Sipping my coffee after the treadmill exercise and now Don is on the treadmill.  It is about the only time we watch news except for catching local news at ten tonight.

Marilyn:  I didn't realize dramamine was the same as meclazine - one of my cousins has a real problem with dizziness and I know she carrys meclazine with her but it doesn't do any good unless she takes it before getting up from bed.

Larry:  Best not to take the blood thinner for two weeks - I am praying for your health.

Judy McKenna:  We took a cruise to Alaska as a vacation from work several years ago and ended up going back to Sitka as volunteers for one month at a church - we want to go there again someday but it sure is a long drive.

Joyce:  I took notes on your post about the low blood sugar and your diagnosis and am sending this info to my cousin as I don't believe she has had a real diagnosis.

Kathy:  Your three granddaughters won in softball!  How exciting for all of you!

Back to quilting today.  Best to everyone.  I hope that Jenny is doing well as I have not seen her posts either.

Hello everyone from Coos Bay.  It's raining again.....lightly, not like the storms elsewhere.....but sure keeps me from mowing. :)  At least I have the front done, the part that you see from the street.  ;D

I'm doing something for me that I want to share with you.  I've started working out 5 days a week.  My daughters have been trying to get me to do that for a long time, and I finally gave in and love it.  We have a women's only place and they use the PACE circuit training system.  We, my daughter, Kim, grandaughter, Angel, and I go in the morning.  Jane has started too.  I've never exercised with this consistancy before, and I really look forward to it each day.  My back hurts a lot, but I'm hoping that it'll work itself out.  I feel as though God has really been speaking to me, and His church, about fitness and accountability.   I tried to tell myself He was just talking about spiritual fitness, but then my daughters talked to me, I "saw the light". :)   Only lost 5 lbs, but I'm in it for the long haul.  I have to remember that I won't always be motivated....and then remember why I'm doing it.  Right?

That's the only news I have.  Not very interesting. lol

In downtown Coos Bay, a local contractor has built a small prayer chapel.  I've noticed it and meant to go in, but yesterday I did.  What a peaceful place.  I was the only one there...it's just open for prayer daily.  there was soft music playing.  Three pews on each side of the small room, and in front a large cross that almost reached the ceiling.  It's just as easy to pray at home....but this place was built by a Christian, with a vision for prayer, and dedicated to the Lord.  I know God has blessed this sweet place.  I want to go back.  I was only there about 20 minutes, but left loving the Lord more.   It was a blessing.

Gotta run.  Grandaughter Angel is sleeping on the couch.  It's time to get her awake.  She's not as into this exercise thing as gramma.  I convinced her that she can really motivate me by going. :)  She loves her gram.  Besides this is her PE class.

I'm not going to mention any names......but I've read all the posts for the last two days. :)

God bless.  Nita

Goodmorning:

A beautiful day so now I will be headed out the back door
to get my flower garden completed and also to get my
tomatoes plants in as well.  If time permits I will also get
my bean, raddish and cucumber seeds in as well.

Thanks for the devotional Soni, it brought me back to my Public School days in a one room school when our teacher would put a proverb on the black board daily and then later in the day it was used for our printing or writing lesson.

Ria: I to enjoy your devotional.

Soni, thanks for helping pat out by opening up today.  We appreciate both of you!

Ria, yes I understand what you told me about your floors.  They are installing a lot of the laminate flooring here, too.  We considered it, but decided on the ceramic tile because a friend who also lives in the country told us that the laminate will scratch if sand is tracked in on it, and we have a LOT of sand here.  But I don't think dogs walking on it would scratch it, so don't worry.  Three of my sisters have the wood-look laminate, and it is lovely.  My, you will almost have a new house when you get all that work finished!

Kathy, that is a lot of years on the job!  I'll bet they hate to lose you!  Let us know what you and God decide for you to do later.

Etta Sue, you and Jerry have a great time on your trip.  It's so nice you get to meet people from SN and CP here and there.

Nita, good for you!  I am still going swimming 5 mornings a week, and if I miss, I can tell I do not feel nearly as well.  But I also need to add some kind of weight-bearing exercises to my routine.  I haven't been losing any weight, but at least, I'm not gaining. ;)

Hi Carol!  How are you doing?  Sounds as if you really stay busy.

Hi Ruth Ann.  I hope they find the key to your dizziness soon.  My grandson who has dyslexia so bad takes meclazine to help with that.  Lots of dyslexics have problems with dizziness in situations like driving along a road with tree shadows or riding on amusement park rides.  Justin will NOT ride on those, they make him sick.

Pat, I hope you get some rest today.  Love you!

Hello to all those who pop in later.  Today is class day, so busy again.

Hi Ruth!  Happy gardening--we were posting at the same time.
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Hi everyone.

What interesting postings today.  I find it pleasant to read of the daily lives of our folks here.  After all not everyday is going to be filled with highlights and we need to enjoy and appreciate our work opportunities and being able to do the routine.  Of course, my wife things I may be a bit too regimented but I like to know what is on my schedule a bit ahead of time.

Sonja, thanks for the fine devotional today.  My Bible reading plan for today called for reading Proverbs, Chapter 1.  I really don't care too much for the plan I am using this year as it is very unbalanced.  Today was one chapter and usually just a couple of Psalms but for some of the books it may require 4 or 5 long chapters.  However, will continue with it.

Welcome to Miriam.  Pat, I expect your cousins could tell us some interesting stories from your childhood, right?

Ria, you do have lots of work planned for your house but as you say it will be very beautiful when you finish.  It sounds like you are keeping your husband busy in these early days since his retirement.

Kathy, it is interesting that you can start to train a replacement when your retirement is still a couple of years away.  I think the normal thing is to bring in someone the week before you leave and say here teach them everything you know.  Obviously that never works very well, especially if your work has been complex.  I don't believe I ever heard of an oilmill before, obviously not something we had in the midwest.

Ruth Ann, I don't think I remember that you had a son in England.  Glad you have now heard from him.  Also glad to hear the carotid arteries are all clear.

Carol, that king size quilt sounds like quite a challenge.  Pat did one king size quilt, actually her first quilt I think, and said never again.  She machine quilted it.  Have you done quilts in white on white?  We have one hanging on our wall that she did that way and it is beautiful.  It is against a deep red color and is really a highlight in the room.  Before we painted the wall it sort of disappeared against the white wall paint.

Nita, good for you and Jane in starting a routine exercise program.  I have been going to the "Y" usually 5 times a week for my walking program since December.

I agree that some days I would like not to go or put it off till later in the day but find my day goes much better when I leave for the "Y" a little after 6 am each weekday.  I am now doing 10 minutes on the treadmill at a 5% incline and then try to walk the 2 miles in the gym.  With school out they are starting summer camps next week and they will be using the gym so not sure that I cam going to be able to do the gym walking this summer.

Ruth, are you an avid gardener like Pat is?  One of my coffee drinking buddies loves to garden and has over 300 tomato plants and will soon have tomatos.  He put them in around April 1st and had started them from seed that he had planted earlier.  He sells a lot of produce and gives the money to his two grandsons.  He said one year he took in over $2,000.  He just puts things out under a big tree with a bucket to leave the money and has done that for several years.

Janet, I expect that your granddaughter is now counting the hours until you pick her up so she can spend a few days with you.  These will be times she will never forget.

Etta Sue, know you and Jerry are on the road by now but hope when you look in here you will have had a good trip.

This is a day and evening that I don't have any appointments or schedule to keep and I am enjoying it.  The contractor is still working and the AC man is due back as the thermostat was defective out of the box and blew out the transformer on the new AC.  Of course it is all under warranty so other than looking forward to enjoying cooler weather it isn't a significant matter.

Pat

Hi Everyone...

Just a very quick "Hi Everyone" from me.  I have company at the moment and don't like to spend too much time on the computer and leave them alone.

Yes, Larry, my cousins could probably tell you lots about me!  HAHAHAHA!

I'll be back a little later.

It's so nice to come in here and read.

Howdy,
I just wondered if anyone has been through the "Experiencing God" book by Henry Blackaby? I have recently been catching up on our church's lessons in it and have found that my walk with God has been improved by a million percent.

I was so involved with trying to do everything I could for God I didn't take the proper time out to get to KNOW God. These lessons have really put the focus back on God and what He wants to do, using me. I recommend it to you all if you have not already gone through the book.

If you have, please share your thoughts on it.

Thank you for this wonderful community of people and I hope each and every one of you has a blessed day.

And some day I'll post some photos as I learn how God wants me to use them for His benefit.

Marilyn - interesting that you went to a Mexican place - we did also.  We went to Pachanga Mexicana, over on 4th street.  It's one of our favorite places.  We almost always have the Qesadilla Grande, con pollo.  Praise our Lord for the ability to enjoy tastes.

I've heard many times that Henry Blackaby is good reading.  His advice is certainly good - become more acquainted with God, worry less about doing things for God.  I believe that's one of the primary purposes of the Bible - to help us in that acquaintance.  As Peter said, "But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

Well, I thought I'd best check in here after such an extended absence -- and since I heard Nita talking about me.   :P

Since May 2, when our pastor resigned and the church closed, I have been very busy running back and forth to open the church and help to clean out (relocate, dispose of, get rid of) many years of accumulation to get the building ready for sale.  This has become more of a job, and taken a greater toll on my nerves and emotions, than I had ever expected.  ::)  I remarked that it is the same as clearing out someone's house after they've died.  :( The church officials have asked that we, the board members, stay on the job through May ... well, that's only a couple more daze then I can turn in my keys and, hopefully, walk away.  :-\

Yesterday I received a "delinquent notice" for my property taxes!  :-[ They were due May 15 but, it seems I had other things on my mind and certainly not paying taxes!  ::) Now I have an additional $8.50 for interest through June 30!   :-\ Oh, well, stuff happens.

Yup, Nita and her girls were getting into exercising every morning and that sounded like something I needed to do, too.  It is also something I can do for myself ... and to myself ... that is good for me!  ;) And ... it's easier to be consistent when there's a friend or two to see that you do.  I have now been going each morning for a week and plan to keep at it.  I want to make it a habit.  It may be too soon for me to notice any difference, but I will officially "sign up" next week and then we will start measuring and documenting and calculating and keeping track.  There better be some (good) changes to notice soon!! ::)

For some reason I am a bit tired lately so I will just kind of relax over here in the corner for a while longer.  I do come here often and always enjoy the conversation and good coffee and uplifting devotions and scriptures.  Y'all take care, now, y'hear?
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

There Is Power in the Blood
(Click to hear music)

"They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." Revelation 7:14

Words & Music: Lewis E. Jones, 1899

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o'er evil a victory win?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There's power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There's wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Jane, it's so good to hear from your little corner today.  Now don't stay there and be quiet too long---we might forget you're there and start talking about you!  ;) ;D  Just kidding, of course.  I'm so sorry about your church, and know how painful that is, having gone through a similar situation a few years ago.

Ruthie, I'm glad you and Pat and the other cousins had a good time together.  I sure enjoyed mjy sister's very short visit, too.

I just got home from getting Abby, and we are both tired, so I think it's time for a bedtime story and some zzzzzzzzs.

See all you fine folks tomorrow!

Hi Jane:  Sometimes I want to come in here and just say "Hi Jaywalker".  That was a cool name!!  We had a great time at that bash, didn't we!

Jane - if your church has folded, and the pastor gone...where does everyone worship now? :o  Did you have a "council", or something like that that could help with finances to prevent that sort of thing from happening again?  We belong to the Fellowship Baptist churches., there is a "Fellowship office",which happens to be local, and they would see that that sort of thing wouldn't happen.  There are about 250 fellowship Baptist churches under that roof.  Hope I'm explaining this properly.

I just hate to see the evil one become the victor in cases such as this. :(  He is probably "gloating"! >:(

Soni:  Thanks for your good piano music - very good to hum by while at the computer.

Larry:  The white on white quilting sounds lovely.  Your Pat is so talented.  I have seen pictures of her quilts.

I was shopping at Hobby Lobby today and realized that they were playing church music.  Now, why haven't I ever heard that before?  They are closed on Sundays so I like to give them any business - I needed special thread for quilting.

I hope everyone sleeps well and storms don't awaken you.

Marilyn:
QuoteJane or Nita are you going to "Curves".

Nope ... it's "Inch Bye Inch"!   ;)

JUDY Mc~As our regional superintendent said in a letter read to us on May 2: "We understand that every church has a life cycle.  This church has had seasons of great fruitfulness and time of extraordinary difficulty.  The question ultimately before us was whether the ministry of this church had been fulfilled.  After prayerfully considering all the things before us we concluded that the church had fulfilled its ministry and that it was time to close the church."  There were many factors that went into this decision and we (the church advisory council) and the district and regional officials) had many discussions over a period of a few months.

People have begun finding other fellowships in the area.  Some of us still have not managed that.  It is not easy.  As you know, our Pastor Bev died in September.  We are still grieving her death and now we grieve the death of this church.

The building will be sold ... all usable furnishings and properties have been moved to Eugene (Church Headquarters).  These furnishings and the proceeds from the sale of the building will be used to help other churches.  In the death of one church new life will spring forth for many others.  God will be glorified!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

It was good to see Shawn posting today.  Shawn, I don't know of the book you are speaking of.  I wonder if anyone else has any knowledge of it.

Now, it's time to lock the door for another night and hopefully, we'll see many more folks posting here tomorrow.

If you have missed some of our "regulars" or even some who haven't been regular at all, how about dropping them a PM and letting them know that they've been missed.
