Our murmuring is the devil's music.
~Thomas Watson~

Morning Devotional...

He sent from above, He took me, He drew me out of many waters.  He delivered me from my strong enemy. . . He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because He delighted in me.
Psalm 18:16-19

David rejoiced in numerous divine interventions.

In his life's varied circumstances, God was neither remote from him, nor disinterested in him. He was always there, working out--as only He can--His predetermined plans.

Each trial was but a setting for yet another proof that "He delighted in me"!

We too, resting in His timeless love, may gratefully trace His hand upon our lives.
--G. Hall

How sweet, my Saviour, to repose
on Thine almighty power!
To feel Thy strength upholding me
through every trying hour!

Our murmuring is the devil's music.
~Thomas Watson~

That is so true, How often we wish so and so would do things our way and why didn't....  and if only.

If we like Paul can say, "I have learned .....to be content."  Contentment is very much a state of the mind.

Thank you Al, for the reply, it is appreciated.

Have a good day everyone

Jenny

Hello John. Nice to see you again  ;)  Please say Hello to Judy for me.

Thank-you for the devotional Pat.

Many times the Lord has encouraged me with this verse. It is so easy to become hemmed in by circumstances. Praise God that He always does bring me out into a large place.!

Good morning everyone from a rainy and dark city.  The Light of the World is with me however and He is all I need.

God Bless.

Jenny

Pat.

ha ha.

Are you alright. You got your "sites" mixed last night  ;D

Hope that sting is getting better now.

Hello.

How wonderful to meet you on here.  Please come and see us often.

I won't do a map for you.  I couldn't if I tried.  I am over here in England.  In a suburb of Birmingham...one of the leafy ones.I live near a busy main road but only a  5 minute walk from the lovely old Trust Village of Old Yardley and Old Yardley Park. There are a number of historic buildings in this area including our Church and Smithy and Blakesley Hall, Old Elizabethan Farmhouse.

God Bless dear,
See you again soon I hope.
Love,
Jenny. :-*

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

I'm off to work very early today. Hope I won't have to return to work after the session with the dental specialist.

The news media says we had lots of heavy wind with our rains from Ivan last night. Between the pain medication and my partial deafness, the winds didn't bother me.

Pat, I appreciate the devotional.

Y'allhave a good day.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Carol

My prayer is that everyone's home will be able to withstand the heavy rains from the hurricane.

We are off to Cheyenne early this  A.M. for Don to have his every 5 year colon test - at the VA hospital.  He did not sleep well last night and I didn't either so we will be quite the pair today.  :0)  I am wearing high-top hiking boots to keep my left foot and ankle stable and the temperature is going to be hot so this will look a bit goofy for sure.

Reading a few notes from everyone.

Pat:  Don was stung by a wasp recently and it took quite a while for the swelling and redness to end.  So annoying.  But, you are mowing your yard so you must be doing well otherwise.  Good to hear.

Larry:  I have a quilt program too and end us getting ideas but never making exactly whatever is on the screen.  It is fun to use occasionally.

Take care all.  Carol

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  We came through the night without further problems.  There is a tree down  across the road up  the street from us but it does not block our exit from the development.  We had power all night so feel very fortunate.  This morning it is just a light rain, more like a fine mist and it is suppose to end by noon.  There is still some wind but not very strong, just see the trees across the street moving a bit.

Welcome to CP Beth.

I have a quiet day planned, just working on some project on my computer.  I am putting up a large number of photos on the Golden Senior Olympics website.  I didn't take any of the photos but they asked me to put some of them up as I am the webmaster for this volunteer organization.

Pat, sorry to hear of the wasp sting.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning Judy B., Ruth Ann, Jenny, and Carol.  Also Larry who came in while I was writing.

Looks like the rain from Ivan is over here and the storm has headed to the east.

Marilyn, thanks for your concern.  South and east of here there is a lot of flooding but Nashville escaped the heaviest of rain and wind.

A week from today we will go for our week in Pigeon Forge.  Last year we missed going because I was in the hospital

Good to see all of you today.  I went to swim, used fins today, so I swam 3/4 mile instead of my usual half mile.  I'm tired, got up tired this morning, but the joy of the Lord is my strength.

Pat, I do hope your hand is better today.  Remember, all of you--any time you get a wasp sting, put household ammonia on it immediately!  It will make all the difference in the world!

I'm missing Liz's posts--where are you, Liz?

I am working on getting out my Family Reunion Newsletter, plus many other tasks to do today.  Talk to you later!

Good Morning all y-all. It is wet here this morning, was misting when I got up to let the dogs out at 5:30. Gloria had plans for us to was and vacuum her car today. Actually she had plans for ME to vacuum her car today and the car wash place to wash it. Those plans may change since it is supposed to rain this weekend.

Bebe is not limping today so far. That is good. Not much new here for now, Will write again when I get home.

PRIMROSE!

Beth, we are all so happy to see you with us on CP!

Etta Sue

I got my tooth filled just fine yesterday.  I was surprised it didn't take very long.  My appointment was at 2:40 p.m. and I was back home by 3:30 p.m.  I had to wait until 4:10 p.m. to eat or drink anything but everything is fine now.

Wasps must be on the run right now.   Ivalou was just here and I noticed something flying around.  I got the fly swatter but it was gone.  I finally got him on the door screen.

It is only to get to 75 degrees F today so I shut off the A/C and have opened a few windows.  Also it is bright and sunny but quite windy...coming from the ENE.  Would that be Ivan?  I am so happy it isn't raining because of my step-daughter and her fiance's summer picnic Open House is tomorrow at my son and DIL yard.  A tent is to be set up but there will be 100-150 people there for 4 hours.  She has light/white carpet and has been praying for sunshine because of the bathroom being used by so many people and having to cross the light/white carpet twice for each trip.

Tonight is our small groups barbeque.  Sonja, the Cornbread Salad recipe is in the recipe section under salads.

I am downloading Service Pack 2.  Is anyone having problems with it?

Revival: Let Anyone Seek His Face

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow
ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains
righteousness on you.
--Hosea 10:12

It will require a determined heart and more than a little courage to
wrench ourselves loose from the grip of our times and return to
biblical ways. But it can be done. Every now and then in the past
Christians have had to do it. History has recorded several large-scale
returns led by such men as St. Francis, Martin Luther and George Fox.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no Luther or Fox on the horizon at
present. Whether or not another such return may be expected before
the coming of Christ is a question upon which Christians are not
fully agreed, but that is not of too great importance to us now.

What God in His sovereignty may yet do on a world-scale I do not claim
to know. But what He will do for the plain man or woman who seeks His
face I believe I do know and can tell others. Let any man turn to God
in earnest, let him begin to exercise himself unto godliness, let him
seek to develop his powers of spiritual receptivity by trust and
obedience and humility, and the results will exceed anything he may
have hoped in his leaner and weaker days.  The Pursuit of God, 70-71.

"Lord, today I commit myself to 'turn to God in earnest,' to 'begin
to exercise [myself] unto godliness,' and to 'seek to develop [my]
powers of spiritual receptivity by trust and obedience and humility.'
You determine the results. Amen."

The Anchor Holds
(Click to hear music)

Words and Music by Lawrence Chewning and Ray Boltz 1994 - Word Music

I have journeyed through the long, dark night
Out on the open sea,
By faith alone, sight unknown,
And yet His eyes were watching me.

The Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
Well I have fallen on my knees,
as I faced the raging sea,
But the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.
I've had visions and I've had dreams;
Well I've even held them in my hands,
But I never knew those dreams could slip right through
Like they were only grains of sand.

O, the Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
Well I have fallen on my knees,
as I faced the raging seas.
O, the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.
Now I have been young, but I am older now.
O and there has been beauty these eyes have seen;
But it was in the night, when I faced the storms of my life.
Oh, that's where God proved His love to me.

The Anchor holds, though the ship is battered.
The Anchor holds, though the sails are torn.
I have fallen, fallen down on my knees
as I faced the raging seas.
But the Anchor holds; O, in spite of the storm.
I said I've fallen, fallen down on my knees
as I faced the raging seas;
But the Anchor holds, in spite of the storm.

Papa John

Etta Sue, I downloaded Service Pack 2 several weeks ago and have no problem at all with it.

All of the traces of Ivan have moved away from us here in Middle Tennessee.  Our daughter, Beth and husband James arrived while ago.  They will be here until Sunday after church.  They live in East Tennessee near Knoxville.  They had a lot more rain than we did.  Beth teaches school and their schools were all closed over there because of flooding.

John 1:11-14
11   He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12   But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13   Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14   And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  (KJV)

Marilyn

Oh Papa John you are Blue today Surprise!!

Thank you Chris for that blessed link you gave us. God bless you Brother. I have been in such pain today in my left hand all across the knuckles and inthe thumb joint. I need that healing.

I am applying for the "First time Buyers" program to see if i can buy a place to live. I am so tired of not knowing what the future hold as afar as place to live goes. Every month I pay my rent and wonder if next month will be the month I am notified that I have  30, 60, 90 days to move. I just want to  move, get it over with and never have to move again.

Sorry for unloading on you.

Oh Father, I pray You'll give Marilyn patience to wait, and I pray that You will simultaneously give her wisdom to see Your hand and to know Your will.  Oh give her rest unto her soul.

Jane Walker

Marilyn I so totally understand!  I'll pray that your application is approved and that you will find that perfect place that the Lord has reserved for you.

Papa Joh~My sister, her husband and son and his family all live in Knoxville ... I haven't heard from them lately but I pray they are safe and dry!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Etta Sue, I have installed Service Pack 2 on three computers.  Initially I had a problem with my desktop but just a couple of days ago I used the Update feature and downloaded what I needed and it installed without a problem.  It is suppose to be a lot more secure.  I try to stay up-to-date on the critical updates.

Pat and I went out to eat this evening as she wanted to get out of the house.  The sun finally came out this afternoon and did it every look good.  We are suppose to have a nice weekend.  There are still about 150,000 people in the Atlanta area without power and there is a lot of flooding West of us in and around Atlanta.

Marilyn, sorry to hear you are in pain.  Hope your housing situation can be resolved to your satisfaction.

Etta Sue, glad you dental appointment went well.

Papa John

Yes, Marilyn, I got tired of green and changed to blue, at least for awhile.  I hope you can work out your housing all right.  Most of our lives we have lived in the parsonage owned by the church where we happened to be working.  Many years ago we bought a house in Nashville and we rented that house out for over twenty years until it was paid for.  When we came back to Nashville we lived there for two years until we sold that house and bought where we live now.  Cornelia said, “We have moved 15 times and this is the last time.”

Jane, I hope your sister and brother-in-law are all right.  I don’t think there was much damage in Knoxville.

I hope you all have a good night’s rest.

Rom 5:1-5  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,  through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.  And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;  and perseverance, character; and character, hope.  Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.  (NKJ)

Good evening from a rain soaked Western NC.  Our power is still out (24 hours, now), and we are staying at bernard's parents house.

This link http://www.citizen-times.com shows some of the damage around here.  Buncombe County is where we are now (Asheville), we live in Haywood (we live in Canton, and neighboring towns are Clyde, Waynesville, Lake Junaluska, and Cruso).  Lots of people without homes/power/sources of income, and 6 or 7 have died in this bout with the weather.

And, Jeanne (the hurricane not the CP member  ;)) is said to be headed this way.  They are calling it the 100yr flood.  Whatever it is, it is not pleasant.  I do not remember anything in my life (and I have lived here all my life) like this.  It is to the point of being bizarre.

On a brighter note, I don't remember if I mentioned it or not, but I won 2 firsts and 4 thirds at the NC Mtn. State Fair.  Maybe someday the power will come back on at home and I can show them to ya'll!

Travis is wanting to look at the Zoo program on this 'puter, so I gotta go.

Take care!

Marilyn

Wow Karma: that is a lot of terrible damage. Glad you have Bernard's parents where you  can stay until you get power back at your house. Do you know if there was any damage to your place?

I wonder how Ruth Ann is and Kathy They haven't checked in her yet.

Has anyone heard from Jeanne Lee?
