The more we allow ourselves to personally experience sanctification by faith, the more we also experience healing by faith. These two doctrines walk together. The more the Spirit of God lives and acts in the soul of believers, the more miracles He will work in the body. By this, the world will recognize what redemption means.

Morning Devotional...

Jesus' Preaching and Healing
John 4:43-54  NLT

43At the end of the two days' stay, Jesus went on into Galilee. 44He had previously said, "A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own country." 45The Galileans welcomed him, for they had been in Jerusalem at the Passover celebration and had seen all his miraculous signs.

46In the course of his journey through Galilee, he arrived at the town of Cana, where he had turned the water into wine. There was a government official in the city of Capernaum whose son was very sick. 47When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea and was traveling in Galilee, he went over to Cana. He found Jesus and begged him to come to Capernaum with him to heal his son, who was about to die.

48Jesus asked, "Must I do miraculous signs and wonders before you people will believe in me?"

49The official pleaded, "Lord, please come now before my little boy dies."

50Then Jesus told him, "Go back home. Your son will live!" And the man believed Jesus' word and started home.

51While he was on his way, some of his servants met him with the news that his son was alive and well. 52He asked them when the boy had begun to feel better, and they replied, "Yesterday afternoon at one o'clock his fever suddenly disappeared!" 53Then the father realized it was the same time that Jesus had told him, "Your son will live." And the officer and his entire household believed in Jesus. 54This was Jesus' second miraculous sign in Galilee after coming from Judea.

Why do you believe in Christ?

This government official not only believed that Jesus could heal; he also obeyed Jesus by returning home, thus demonstrating his faith.

It isn't enough for us to say we believe that Jesus can take care of our problems.  We need to act as if he can.  When you pray about a need or problem, live as though you believe Jesus can do what he says.

Well, here I am ... I just received the note on John's surgery from Joy so thought I'd give y'all the update:

<as an explanation>John's parents drove to the Sacramento area from San Jose so they could be with him while he was in surgery.  They were then going on to their cabin in Twain Harte.

John is fine...they made a big hole in his back, but they are confident they took all the cancerous cells.......14 stitches and no skin graft......his folks were there on time even with a road block....He was out of surgery and home in a couple hours and they were on their way to their cabin.  piece of cake.  He went to a scuba shop for a dive meeting with Paul and was spending money on equipment....I guess he feels pretty good.

Love you

Joy

It is good to know that everything turned out fine and John is up to having a visit to a dive shop ... and spending money!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Ruth Ann Bice

I certainly hope there will be no recurrence, Jane.

Y'all have a good day with the Lord.

Ruth Ann
...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Marilyn

God is so good, Praise the Lord that John is feeling better and going out and about on the day of his surgery.

Maybe I shouldn't be posting this here but I need al y-all to pray for me. I feel myself sinking, isolating myself more and more. Only going out for my job and to church. I home you understand what I am trying to say here without using any word that satan can use against me. Jane it is what you and I spoke about on the phone on Tuesday night. I have heard that this type of thing happens to caregivers.

My son tells me "Mom you are getting old hanging out with all old people" Maybe I am.

However tonight I am going to a Mary Kay meeting with a lady from church, as her guest. Perhaps that will bring up my spirits.

For now I wil just say that I will be back later.

Ruth Ann, having had the "weepy" wounds myself, I can certainly understand.  I pray the doctor may have wisdom and insight into the condition.  A very special physical therapist dealt with mine, finally determined lymphedema.  I had to go salt free for a while, lost some weight (water), and things are much better.  God bless you!

Jane - that's amazing that he's up and about like that!  Thanks be to our Father!

Our Lord is able to keep you from moment to moment, Marilyn - just hang on to Him and His goodness/mercy.

Etta Sue - Let's be especially thankful for the healing of our sin-sick souls.  In fact, let's seek Him, not merely the healing.

Carol

Etta Sue:  Thanks ever so much for devotions today.

Good words to live by.

Pat:  We didn't have the snow - have been in snow already though & it even snowed in September at high elevations.  No pictures, sorry.

Etta Sue:  Grease - our school wasn't like that at all but we did have a few slick hairdo's.

Janet:  I was going to ask you what you were speaking on & now see that it was your trip to Thailand.  This is silly, but I have a relative who insists on calling it THIGHland & even though I pronouce it for her, she doesn't notice.

Larry:  I second the note to you on keeping yourself healthy.  What does your daughter want?  Does she want to live alone - perhaps with a group?  Are there any alternatives to be with other young people?  My heartful prayers for you, Pat and your daughter.

Jane:  Did not know it was your son-in-law and it sounds like he will recover quickly.

Ruth Ann:  Best to you on finding the right healing salve or whatever can help you to heal quickly.

Marilyn:  Sending you a big hug.  I know about dark thoughts and it is annoying to have that happen.  They always go away though and should do so for you as well as you are so positive.

Nice devotional, Etta Sue.  Thanks.  Love that cat graphic!  Reminds me of Squeek this morning.....

Getting ready to go carpet bowling this morning.  Have not been for months.  Have no idea what it will do to my back, but going to give it a whirl anyway!  Know that old saying, "No Pain, No Gain."  Like Marilyn, getting depressed and have to get out and try to mingle again.

No rain today and that is surely a nice thing.  Flowers still going strong in the garden and so far, not that cold at night.  Could be we are in for a 'nice' winter.  Sure hope so, as it will make the heating costs less.  Money has become rather a dim memory for most these days......

Amanda is doing well in her job and is being trained for free.  The hours keep changing and that is a challenge.  Wendy has to drive her and it is close, so that is a large plus.  Hope that Amanda gets her license in the next few months as it is becoming very hard for Wendy to do anything physical.  So hard to watch things get worse and not be able to stop the process.

There are three signs of old age.
The first is your loss of memory, the other two I forget.

That is for you, Marilyn.  Can relate to your problem.  Think that God wants us to get out and about and find things to smile about.  You are so talented and would it be possible to get into something at a Sr. Ctre. where you can teach crafts or graphics or something like that???  God will keep Satan away, that is not a problem.  What happened to the Red Hat Ladies?  Time to put on that thinking hat and something good will happen.

Must go now and will try to keep from missing all my shots in the game.

God Bless,

Liz.

As the Deer Panteth for the Water
(Click to hear music)

Written by Martin Nystrom

Psalm 42:1
"As the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God."

As the deer panteth for the water,
So my soul longs after you.
You alone are my hearts desire,
And I long to worship You.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

I want you more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You're my brother,
Even though you are a King.
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything.

Chorus
You alone are my strength, my shield;
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my hearts desire,
and I long to worship You.

Hi everyone.  Sorry about my venting yesterday but it was one of those days when the load seemed heavy.  I know that, with God's help, everything will work out.  I appreciate the kind words and know that so many of our folks are also experiencing personal or family related problems.

I did pick up my daughter's car but the work still isn't complete as they need to replace the tail light cover, remove another dent in that area and where they repainted it had run so it is going to have to be buffed out.  Unfortunately it was about what I expected would happen.

Carol, our daughter has no income and therefore doesn't have the resources (nor do we) to support her living alone or in a group environment.  She has always been a loner and won't do anything to get out and make new friends or get involved in things.  However, appreciate the ideas.

Janet, know it will be exciting to see your grandson fly in and it sounds like you have a really full day.  I know you understand completely the situation we have as you all have been carrying such a heavy load in your wonderful provision and care for your daughter.  Hope you have a great time at your speak tonight.  Wish I could be there to hear it.

Ruth Ann, sorry to ready about your new foot problems.  It seems that one thing leads to another.  Hope their will be improvement and healing quickly.  I also know you understand our situation and are dealing with similar accommodation needs.

Marilyn, do you have access to a senior center that has hours compatible with your work schedule?  I found after I retired that it was a great place to go to play bridge or other games and to participate in some of the many activities available.  I also found it was up to me to make myself available for what is there as they didn't come calling me to involve me.  My wife and I volunteered one year at our local elementary school to go once a week for an hour or so to help a student with some extra help such as reading or math.  I know you are very involved in your church but does your church have any groups that meet outside the church, such as a singles group that might eat out?  You recognize the problem and that is a large step forward.  Just keep working to overcome it.  It doesn't take long until a person says wait I am too busy.

Liz, glad to see that Amanda is doing well in her job.  How old does a person have to be to get a driver's license where you live?

Jane, glad you have such encouraging news regarding your son-in-law.  It is truly amazing how you can have something so serious done and still feel up to getting out the same day.

Welcome to our new members.

Etta Sue, thanks for the fine devotional today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Janet

Hello!  Well, Mark landed safely, and I was the first one to get a hug!  ;D  His student flight instructor was with him, a nice young lady named Jill.  He had quite a reception committee waiting for him: Mom, Dad, Grams, Poppa, Scout leader and wife, guy from the newspaper; and both of Diane's employees.  It is a gloriously beautiful day here, so that made it just perfect.  They stayed about 30 minutes or so, then were off again, as both had 1:00 classes.

THIGHLAND, huh??   That like a lot of people saying Hi-WaU-Ya for Hawaii.  Funny.

Larry, I wish you could be here, too!  Darrel is going to speak some too--he wants to tell them about the food and about the Hill Tribes.  Should be a fun evening.

I am sorry I don't have time to address everyone personally, have only 2 hours to get stuff ready for tonight, and need to work on organizing my pictures.  Abby has a music program at 2:45 and we will just stay in Hugoton for the evening meeting after that.

I shall return!

I came back to offer you a grin for today:

A New Orleans lawyer sought an FHA loan for a client. He was
told the loan would be granted if he could prove satisfactory title to a
parcel of property being offered as collateral. The title to the
property dated back to 1803, which took the Lawyer three months to track
down.  After sending the information to the FHA, he received the
following reply:

(Actual letter): "Upon review of your letter adjoining your client's
loan application, we note that the request is supported by an Abstract
of Title.  While we compliment the able manner in which you have
prepared and presented the application, we must point out that you have
only cleared title to the proposed collateral property back to 1803.
Before final approval can be accorded, it will be necessary to clear the
title back to its origin."

Annoyed, the lawyer responded as follows (actual letter): "Your
letter regarding title in Case No. 189156 has been received. I note that
you wish to have title extended further than the 194 years covered by
the present application. I was unaware that any educated person in this
country, particularly those working in the property area, would not know
that Louisiana was purchased by the U.S. from France in 1803, the year
of origin identified
in our application. For the edification of uninformed FHA bureaucrats,
the title to the land prior to U.S.ownership was obtained from France,
which had acquired it by Right of Conquest from Spain. The land came
into the possession of Spain by Right of Discovery made in the year 1492
by a sea captain named Christopher Columbus, who had been granted the
privilege of seeking a new route to India by the Spanish monarch,
Isabella.   The good queen, Isabella, being a pious woman and almost as
careful about titles as the FHA, took the precaution of securing the
blessing of the Pope before she sold her jewels to finance Columbus'
expedition.  Now the Pope as I'm sure you may know, is the emissary of
Jesus Christ, the Son of God and God, it is commonly accepted, created
this world.  Therefore, I believe it is safe to presume that God also
made that part of the world called Louisiana. God, therefore, would be
the owner of origin and His origins date back to before the beginning of
time, the world as we know it, AND the FHA.  I hope you find God's
original claim to be satisfactory. Now, may we have our damn loan?"

Kathy

Marilyn, I can see you have been given some good advice and know that you are a "go-getter" from all that you do.  I, too, have been thinking seriously about what I will do when I retire, how will I be able to afford anything, etc, etc., but then I can see that you hae accomplished so much and your faith is an inspiritation to me.  I'll be praying for you.   (hugs) kathy

Janet, I  like the FHA funny! :) :)
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No man cometh unto the Father but by me.  John 14:6

Janet

Did everyone except Kathy and me take the afternon off?  I am in Hugoton on Jeff's computer again.

Abby's program was really nice, it was only the second graders, but there are five classes of them, so that's a lot of kids!  Now we are just hanging out until time to go the the Kiwanis meeting.  Darrel was really tired, as he hasn't slept well for two nights, and had to finish a system and also had a trouble call in Liberal,so he didn't even get home in between.  He is in the basement now, taking a nap.

I guess I will go to the gallery and see what I can find.  I am finding the gallery very confusing--like, how do you find a certain person's photos, etc.  (AND PAT, I AM NOT OLD!!!)  Private joke.

Janet that is soo good.  If true it would be interesting to know what the final response was.

Thank you Pat for meeting John, He wilkl be home tonight, and I am looking forward to that.  I am making soup for some sick family members, and a chicken stew for the rest of the family.

The trees are about bare.  There are a few trees hanging on, but one good wind storm and they will be gone too.

Saturday will be the wedding of a dear friend's daughter.  I was in the processof making a shirt and my friend still has not got her puter back.  John in his sweetness went to a western store and bought me a shirt.  It is pink and white, not red, but, I am sure it will be great.

Marilyn start dwelling on Phillipians 4 verses 8 - 9. Do word srudies ant cross referencing.  Also put on your praise music and crank it.  That always helps me. (Carmen, Boltz are my favourites)

It is a dull overcast day.  The house is chilly so I had better get and set the wood going and warm this place up.

Good night everyone.

Papa John

Janet, a great story about the Louisiana loan.   :D

Last night we had a great lesson in our Bible class.  We are studying about what spirituality is.  Our teacher was head of the graduate Bible program at Lipscomb University before he retired and he is really a great teacher.

I spoke this morning at the nursing home mid-week worship about "The Lamb's Book of Life."   When I go there I lead the singing, lead the prayers, and make the talk.  Most of the people are rolled in in their wheel chairs.

Good to see everyone today.

Rev 21:21-27
21   The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.
22   I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
23   The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
24   The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
25   On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.
26   The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it.
27    Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life. [/u]  (NIV)

Papa John          <;D)))><<

Eph 2:8-9  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast.(NIV)

Judy I was just speaking with my Pastor about Phil.4:8and 9. Think on these things.

I am home from work  and want to thank everyone for what you have said to me today. Kathy I often think about retiring but I would be bored to tears. Larry our senior center only has things going on there until about 2-3, it is still open but no one is there. Our church is small and there is no singles program. although that is part of Pastor Danny's vision for the church to have many programs going on  for every need to be met.

On a good day we have about 60 people. At Sunday night prayer meeting we have about 20-25 sometimes less like 12. on Wed night it is about the same. So many people only come on Sunday to the worship service and sermon not even to Sunday school we have 15  at the most in SS.

I will take my camera tonight to the Mary Kay meeting for before and after photos.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'If anyone would come after me,
he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me'.
Matthew 16:24

Words - Mary B.C. Slade, 1826-1882
Music - Asa B. Everett, 1871

Sweetly, Lord, have we heard Thee calling,
Come, follow Me!
And we see where Thy footprints falling
Lead us to Thee.

Refrain
Footprints of Jesus,
That make the pathway glow;
We will follow the steps of Jesus
Where'er they go.

Though they lead o'er the cold, dark mountains,
Seeking His sheep;
Or along by Siloam's fountains,
Helping the weak.

Refrain

If they lead through the temple holy,
Preaching the Word;
Or in homes of the poor and lowly,
Serving the Lord.

Refrain

Then at last, when on high he sees us
Our journey done,
We will rest where the steps of Jesus
end at his throne.

Thanks for the devotional

Marilyn:  I will be looking forward to the before and after Mary Kay  pictures. The Mary Kay parties are usually fun and very relaxing.

Things to do in retirement; it is usually best to do the planning before you actually pack it in. I have a neighbor friend that is already doing that for me.

We have had a mist type of rain all day, I sure wish the sun would start shining.

Pat: How is your deck coming?

Papa John:  It is so good to read your posts.

Sorry if I have left some folk out but I am feeling tired and my thinker is not working all that well.

Same weather here too, Ruth.

Nothing new has been done since last Saturday to the deck.  Neil came and we went to get some supplies that we've run out of and they'll do more work on Saturday.
