Morning Devotional...

On His head were many crowns.
Revelation 19:12

The Jews cried out at His crucifixion that if He was a king then He should have a crown.

The crown that He wore on that day was made from cruel thorns, a product of the cursed earth. These were pressed down on that holy brow into which never an evil thought passed.

Praise and thank God that today He is the Victor and not the Victim. He is today crowned with glory and honor and He is worthy of it all.

May our hearts be full to overflowing as we come to worship Him today.
--John M. Clegg

The head that once was crowned with thorns
Is crowned with glory now!
A royal diadem adorns
the mighty Victor's brow.
Thomas Kelly

Good morning and God bless everyone.

The devotional was very encouraging today.  There are times when it seems to me that the world is still crucifying Christ and I am still viewing Him as the victim rather than the Victor.  Recently, in England, there has been a blasphemous play (Jerry Springer the Opera) doing the rounds and the BBC broadcast the play in full.  A christian along with some politicians took part in a panel show to talk about it, and the christian hardly had a chance to speak.  It is as though his opinion was being put to death.  In these circumstances it is easy to think that the evil in the world is overcoming the good, but it is encouraging to read devotionals like this morning's.

Jesus is stronger than Satan and sin,
Satan to Jesus must bow.
Therefore I triumph without and within,
Jesus saves me now.

Thanks again for the devotional Pat.

Look forward to reading everyone's posts later on.

Anthony.

Good Morning everyone.  I slept in a bit this morning as it was a cool night and great for sleeping.

The sun is shining brightly and it is just great outside.  Today we are having a joint church service starting at 10:30 rather than 11:15.  The Children's Ministry is handling all of the service except the preaching (our senior ministor is preaching).  Following the service we have a brief congregational meeting to elect new deacons and elder for a three year term.  Then when that is over we have a church-wide picnic that is going to cooked outside (hamburgers and hotdogs) but served in the Fellowship Hall.  I am sure if it had been served outside we wouldn't attend but think we will participate this year as we will have a place to sit.

Marilyn, I hope you enjoy the HTML lessions.  If you learn the basic codes you will be able to do a lot.  I have found the table tags are very useful in getting things to display the way I want it to appear.  I have tried several programs that write the code but don't really like them as well as manual coding.

Anthony, we are seeing the continual tearing down of our society and the incalcation of the idea that there are no absolutes, no right or wrongs, basically no sin.  Unfortunately this path is taking people on the path of destruction.

Pat, thanks for the devotional this morning.

Have any of you ever watched Jack Van Impe on television.  He and his wife have a weekly program that features the world headlines and Jack cites passages of the Bible related to what is happening.  Here is the weblink: http://www.jvim.com/  If you click on TV Programs you can watch the last program and other programs for the last few weeks using Windows Media Player.  He has memorized a huge amount of the Bible and backs up anything he says with scripture references and often quotes the actual Bible verses.  I really enjoy watching this program.  It is 30 minutes in length.

I hope everyone will be able to get to church today.

Good morning, friends,

Just a note before heading to worship.

Pat, thank God you were able to take care of that scary situation!

It's so good to see all the posts. Y'all really mean a lot to me.

My blisters have almost stopped draining, so I believe the Lord is starting the healing process.

Y'all have a good day.

Ruth Ann

Good Morning Everyone...

I was going to go to church and got dressed to go and went to the car and I found that my trunk had been left up a wee bit causing the light to be on since yesterday and now my battery is dead.     So I'll get a boost later and I'll enjoy watching a TV church today.

It's great to see the posts and Ruth Ann, such good news that the weeping blisters are starting to dry up.  You've certainly been through so much.

Now someone is at the door.

I'll be back.

Ruth Ann God is so good, I have been praying for your blisters to heal up. Thank you Jesus for Ruth Ann's healing.

Good Morning everyone. I am late getting here this morning. I was doing other things like getting ready for church, feeding the dogs, and spending time with the Lord.  I am looking forward to the message today I know that God has something special for each one of us.
Pastor Danny is doing a series on the Book of Acts church and relating it to today and his vision for our church.

The Sun is out now, a little chilly. It was foggy when I  first let the dogs out.

Hope you all have a wonderful day with the Lord.

Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/resting.mid)

Words by C. A. Wellesley

Gathered to Thy name, Lord Jesus,
Losing sight of all but Thee,
Oh, what joy Thy presence gives us,
Calling up our hearts to Thee!

Loved with love which knows no measure
Save the Father's love to Thee,
Blessed Lord, our hearts would treasure
All the Father's thoughts of Thee.

All His joy, His rest, His pleasure,
All His deep delight in Thee;
Lord, Thy heart alone can measure
What Thy Father found in Thee.

How He set His love upon Thee,
Called Thee His beloved Son;
Yet for us He did not spare Thee,
By Thy death our life was won.

Oh, the joy, the wondrous singing
When we see Thee as Thou art,
Thy blest name, Lord Jesus, bringing
Sweetest music to God's heart!

Notes of gladness, songs unceasing,
Hymns of everlasting praise,
Psalms of glory, joy increasing,
Through God's endless day of days!

Morning all.  I am out to church in a minute. After that I will come back.  I know I haven't been on in a long time, but I have been to busy to come online all the time.  Anyways, I hope you are all keeping well.  I've been going ice skating a lot and have been in Toronto visiting family. (I am posting about my trip in my blog: link in my signature if anyone is interested)  Also I am looking forward to the start of the televised figure skating season on tv today with Campbell's Classic LOL   Anyways, talk to you all later.

God Bless,
Teresa Dawn

Thanks for today's devotional, Pat ... And, BTW I really like your profile photo!

I will be going to sing at the nursing home at noon today.  Other than that I won't be going out to church -- tv church for me too, Pat.   ;)

Not much to say here, at the moment, so I'll quit by wishing y'all a wonderful day with the Lord.

Nice to see you Teresa Dawn.  I'm very happy that you found the site again.  Just sorry that we didn't get together in Toronto but maybe another time.  Ruthie lives in Willowdale right by the Yonge St. Subway and when I go to Toronto, I drive to her house and then we walk to the subway.

Enjoy that singing, Jane.

Hello again everyone.  I've just returned from the evening service where we had a visiting preacher.  Our pastor is in Zambia for a fortnight.

Larry it's a great idea to sleep in for a bit if you have the opportunity.  Your service sounds like it's going to be a great time of fellowship for everyone.  I trust everything went well for you all. What you said about the downward trend in our society is very true and very sad.  It makes Christian fellowship even more important.  We need to encourage one another in these days.

Ruth Ann it's good to see you posting this morning and I am glad that there are good signs that show the healing process is working.  God bless you sister.

Pat, I'm so sorry about the battery draining in the car.  I would often leave my lights on out of forgetfulness and be in the same situation.  I know what you must have felt like.  (I use Fiat cars now, and the lights go off when you take the keys out :idiot:) I loved the hymn 'Gathered to Thy Name Lord'  I've never heard it before.  It is such a blessing to read the words.

Marilyn, it's good to hear from you today and I do trust that you had a blessed time at church.  The book of Acts is a great book to do a study from.  God bless your pastor as he brings the word.

Teresa Dawn, we haven't met but it was good to see your post.  I love to see figure skating.  It seems such a graceful art.  It is interesting to read that you have a blog and I will take a look later.  God bless you.

Jane, good to see your post today.  I trust everything goes well when you go out to sing.  I hope that the TV church is uplifting too.

God bless all and thanks for the fellowship.

Anthony.

Anthony, you and I were posting together.

I think I'll have to think about a new-ish car next year as my Saturn is now over 10 years old so it's getting on--something like me!

The fellow next door came and gave me a boost and I let it run for awhile and now it's fine to drive.

By the way, folks...  What do you think of the quote up in the heading today?

"Prayer meetings are the throbbing machinery of the church."

~C. H. Spurgeon~

Just lost the best message anyone has ever composed.  It took six hours to produce and it just went up in a puff

Anyway, I loved the quote Pat.  Prayer is the christian's vital breath, as the hymn-writer put it.

Catch y'all later.

Anthony.

Pat your car is only 10 years old. Well my car is a 1988 and I just purchased it in Feb. of this year. However it had only 63,000 miles on it when I got it. I paid $1,000. for it, a one owner car and it had sat for more than a year because the lady had Macular Degeneration and could no longer drive.

Service was wonderful today. I lady came that I had not seen for such a long time, she lives on  the reservation in Hoopa and is the niece of my friend Willa. I didn't even recognize her as she had lost 60 lbs.

Larry I have bookmarked the Van Impe website, I used to watch him all the time when I could get TBN, I do not have full cable and cable is the only place I can get TBN.

Teresa Dawn When do the Skating programs start.? Today? What time?

That's a great quote and I totally agree with Mr. Spurgeon. Look at what happened at that prayer meeting inthe Upper Room.!!! 0:-)

Pat, we took the subway everywhere while I was out there, so I know where you mean more or less.  If I'm out again I will have to let you know.

Rainbow, nice to meet you :) Hope you enjoy my blog.  Glad to find someone else who loves figure skating :)

Well just got back from church. The kids were great today.  I only had three of them in my class today (I teach Grade 1 this year) We had story and snacks and then drew some giant garden pictures, made some stickers, and played with play-doh ;)  (or at least the kids did all that LOL) I feel like going ice skating but I can't at the moment, will have to go some other time instead I guess.  Maybe tomorrow I can get my bro to go with me.  He doesn't have school now since all our teachers are on strike throughout the province.  It has been over a week since school was last on now, and I expect it will last all of this week at the least.

Anyways, I am off to watch Campbell's Classic
God Bless,
Teresa Dawn

Bind us together, Lord
bind us together,
with cords that cannot be broken.
Bind us together, Lord,
bind us together,
bind us together with love.

There is only one God,
there is only one King
there is only one Body
xthat is why we sing:
Bind us together, Lord ...

Made for the glory of God,
purchased by his precious Son,
born with the right to be clean,
for Jesus the victory has won.
Bind us together, Lord ...

You are the family of God,
you are the promise divine,
you are God's chosen desire,
you are the glorious new wine.
Bind us together, Lord ...

Hello, Vernon!  I also love that song "Bind us Together" and we used to sing it a lot.  I haven't heard it lately, though, guess I will have to sing it to me.  ;)

Yes, for sure, prayer is the throbbing machinery of the church!  Great quote.

Anthony, it is so good to have you back with us!

Sorry to be so late getting here again.  My daughter's family came up for church today, and we were busy before church preparing a meal for them, then had a nice visit after church while we ate.  I am so blessed to have them as family.  Of course Abby always feels right at home both here and at church.  Beth also ate with us, but was in a hurry to go home afterward, because John always talks to her on the computer in the early afternoon on Sundays. <3

Ruth Ann, I'm so happy to hear the blisters are beginning to heal.  God is marvelous, isn't He?  And I was thinking about you last night after I went to bed---remembering the kind of day you had.  I was wondering how many of us would continue to praise the Lord in those circumstances.  I think most of us would begin to grumble and complain!  So I really, really admire your sweet attitude!  Why, you didn't even mention the cost of gasoline for the "wasted" trip!  And it wasn't wasted when it gave you the blessing of being out in God's beautiful world, just you and Him.   :-*

Larry, we are having a "finger foods" thing after services tonight.  The missionary was so enjoyable this morning, and we are looking forward to hearing more.  His father was martyred for preaching the Gospel!  Yet he and his family are homesick for the dangerous place they serve--Bhutan.  What servant hearts!

Hello to all of you who check in today!  I love you all!

Pat, I came back to thank you for putting your photo back!!  Thank you!

Pat:  I will checkout the Autumn Colours......  and, I agree that a church should be a prayerful church.  Can't imagine going to anything else.  When something like that happens (your battery didn't work), I always feel that there is a message somewhere, something I am supposed to read or hear.  But - often I don't know what the message is, and perhaps there is nothing to learn or as little as stopping and relaxing.

Checking out Autumn Colours now.

Strange, Marilyn...  As my cousin in LA has cars that are ancient and no rust and he lives very close to the sea.  We are driving in it all the time.  They plow the salt to the edge of the roadways.  It sure is a terrible thing for our cars here.

The Sands of Time are Sinking (http://christianphotographers.com/sounds/rutherford.mid)
(Click to hear music)

The wedding of the Lamb has come,
and His bride has made herself ready.
Revelation 19:7

Anne R. Cousin

The sands of time are sinking, the dawn of heaven breaks;
The summer morn I've sighed for, the fair, sweet morn awakes:
Dark, dark hath been the midnight, but dayspring is at hand,
And glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel's land.

O Christ, He is the fountain, the deep, sweet well of love!
The streams of earth I've tasted more deep I'll drink above:
There to an ocean fullness His mercy doth expand,
And glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel's land.

Oh! Well it is forever, Oh! well forevermore,
My nest hung in no forest of all this death doomed shore:
Yea, let the vain world vanish, as from the ship the strand,
While glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel's land.

There the Red Rose of Sharon unfolds its heartsome bloom
And fills the air of heaven with ravishing perfume:
Oh! To behold it blossom, while by its fragrance fanned
Where glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel's land.

The King there in His beauty, without a veil is seen:
It were a well spent journey, though seven deaths lay between:
The Lamb with His fair army, doth on Mount Zion stand,
And glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel?s land.

Oft in yon sea beat prison My Lord and I held tryst,
For Anwoth was not heaven, and preaching was not Christ:
And aye, my murkiest storm cloud was by a rainbow spanned,
Caught from the glory dwelling in Immanuel's land.

But that He built a Heaven of His surpassing love,
A little new Jerusalem, like to the one above,
"Lord take me over the water" hath been my loud demand,
Take me to my love's own country, unto Immanuel's land.

But flowers need nights cool darkness, the moonlight and the dew;
So Christ, from one who loved it, His shining oft withdrew:
And then, for cause of absence my troubled soul I scanned
But glory shadeless shineth in Immanuel?s land.

The little birds of Anwoth, I used to count them blessed,
Now, beside happier altars I go to build my nest:
Over these there broods no silence, no graves around them stand,
For glory, deathless, dwelleth in Immanuel?s land.

Fair Anwoth by the Solway, to me thou still art dear,
Even from the verge of heaven, I drop for thee a tear.
Oh! If one soul from Anwoth meet me at God?s right hand,
My heaven will be two heavens, In Immanuel?s land.

I?ve wrestled on towards Heaven, against storm and wind and tide,
Now, like a weary traveler that leaneth on his guide,
Amid the shades of evening, while sinks life?s lingering sand,
I hail the glory dawning from Immanuel?s land.

Deep waters crossed life?s pathway, the hedge of thorns was sharp;
Now, these lie all behind me Oh! for a well tuned harp!
Oh! To join hallelujah with yon triumphant band,
Who sing where glory dwelleth in Immanuel?s land.

With mercy and with judgment my web of time He wove,
And aye, the dews of sorrow were lustered with His love;
I?ll bless the hand that guided, I?ll bless the heart that planned
When throned where glory dwelleth in Immanuel?s land.

Soon shall the cup of glory wash down earth?s bitterest woes,
Soon shall the desert briar break into Eden?s rose;
The curse shall change to blessing the name on earth that?s banned
Be graven on the white stone in Immanuel?s land.

O I am my Beloved?s and my Beloved?s mine!
He brings a poor vile sinner into His ?house of wine.?
I stand upon His merit?I know no other stand,
Not even where glory dwelleth in Immanuel?s land.

I shall sleep sound in Jesus, filled with His likeness rise,
To love and to adore Him, to see Him with these eyes:
?Tween me and resurrection but Paradise doth stand;
Then?then for glory dwelling in Immanuel?s land.

The Bride eyes not her garment, but her dear Bridegroom?s face;
I will not gaze at glory but on my King of grace.
Not at the crown He giveth but on His pierced hand;
The Lamb is all the glory of Immanuel?s land.

I have borne scorn and hatred, I have borne wrong and shame,
Earth?s proud ones have reproached me for Christ?s thrice blessed Name:
Where God His seal set fairest they?ve stamped the foulest brand,
But judgment shines like noonday in Immanuel?s land.

They?ve summoned me before them, but there I may not come,
My Lord says ?Come up hither,? My Lord says ?Welcome home!?
My King, at His white throne, my presence doth command
Where glory?glory dwelleth in Immanuel's land.

Marilyn sometimes the golf is live and goes late and then it starts later.  Anyways, I didn't manage to see it either as I went to see my nana, but I got videos of it.  And then I DID go ice skating with my brother :)  He wanted me to teach him so I did and he learned a lot.  (He could already skate fast, he just needs some work on edges, crossovers, and that sort of stuff)
