JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Let Your Life Shout

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."
(Psalm 14:1)

Most of us would never dream this verse could apply to us. After all, we're believers! We'd never say that there is no God.

But maybe we should think again. It's true that with our mouths we would never say something like that...but what about with our actions?

Do we say it by sinning just a little here and there and thinking it won't matter? Do we go to an immoral movie or have a gossip session about the pastor, ignoring God's command to the contrary?

With our actions are we saying, "There is no God?"

Psalm 14:1 connects that kind of thing to corruption. Whether he realizes it or not, the more a person acts that way, the more corrupt he's going to become.

Don't make the foolish mistake of publicly proclaiming Jesus as your Lord, and then privately denying Him with one little action at a time. Use wisdom in everything you do so that both your heart and your life shout loudly, "My God reigns!"

Revive Us Again
(Click to hear music)

My foot standeth in an even place:
in the congregations will I bless the LORD.
Psalm 26:12

Author:  William P. Mackay, 1839-1885
Musician:  John J. Husband, 1760-1825

We praise Thee, O God,
for the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus who died and is
now gone above.

Refrain:
Hallelujah! Thine the glory,
Hallelujah! Amen;
Hallelujah! Thine the glory;
Revive us again.

We praise Thee, O God,
for Thy Spirit of light,
Who has shown us our Saviour
and scattered our night.

All glory and praise
to the Lamb that was slain,
Who has borne all our sins,
and has cleansed ev'ry stain.

Revive us again,
fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled
with fire from above.

Prayer: At Home in the Prayer Chamber

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in
his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down
on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before
his God, as was his custom since early days.
--Daniel 6:10

Thomas a' Kempis wrote that the man of God ought to be more at home
in his prayer chamber than before the public....

No man should stand before an audience who has not first stood before
God. Many hours of communion should precede one hour in the pulpit.
The prayer chamber should be more familiar than the public platform.
Prayer should be continuous, preaching but intermittent.

It is significant that the schools teach everything about preaching
except the important part, praying. For this weakness the schools
are not to be blamed, for the reason that prayer cannot be taught;
it can only be done. The best any school or any book (or any article)
can do is to recommend prayer and exhort to its practice. Praying
itself must be the work of the individual. That it is the one
religious work which gets done with the least enthusiasm cannot but
be one of the tragedies of our times.  God Tells the Man Who Cares,
70-71.

"Lord, I pray today that I might more and more be at home in my
prayer chamber. It's exciting to be in the pulpit; it's vital to be
in the closet. Let me do this work with deeper commitment and
greater enthusiasm. Amen."

Hi everyone.  We remembered to reset our clocks so won't be late for church.  It is another truly beautiful day here this morning, warm and sunny.

Nothing new so will just say good morning.

Marilyn

Good morning to everyone. Thank you Janet and Chris for the devotionals this morning.

Last night  This Grandma got on skates and I have proof that I was skating. Gilbert skated along with me and took photos. The internal memory on my camera is full so I will upload them to my computer after church today and  post some in my gallery to show you. I had so much fun. It was a little rough but I didn't fall, although he did get one photo of me kind of moving close to the wall as I was losing control.

Gotta get ready for church now I actually slept until 6:30 this morning. Praise the Lord.

Oh, my Marilyn!  That's something I'd not do now.  I'm too afraid of falling.  Good for you!

Hello to the rest of you.  Great to read your messages.

Happy Sunday to all of you!  It's a beautiful (and not too windy) day here in Kansas.

Our church certainly is under attack this past week!  So much sickness....obviously, we got the enemy stirred up.  Our retreat last weekend was such a blessing to so many; and then on Sunday morning we prayed for a young man in the hospital who had been given 1 to 5 days to live.  His organs were already shutting down.  He isn't from our church, but we prayed in faith for him, and at the very hour we were praying, God raised him up!  So instead of a funeral, he is going to rehab.  God is great!  All the time.  Our prayers continue that he will invite Jesus into his heart, as he didn't do that when the pastor went to talk to him that afternoon.  At least he has been presented the truth, what he chooses to do is up to him.

Marilyn, I think I would still attempt to roller skate, but I would be very careful. (As I'm sure you were.)

Pat, how is your computer today?  And how are you?

We are cooking a roast with potatoes, carrots and onions, to take to my friend Pat for their supper.  She is one of those who is sick.  :P

I am going to go crop more photos.  I'm so far behind on my scrapbooking!

Computer has a "bandaid" on it, Janet! ;)  Not sure but think that this week I may be getting some major work done on it.  Maybe not have internet access for a couple of days when Heiko comes for it.

How am I?  Getting stronger I do believe.  Just have to rest a lot.

Hi everyone.

Today was communion Sunday and we had a very good service.  We had seven girls from the senior section of the Atlanta Youth Choir sing for us at the Anthem and Offertory points in the service.  It was beautiful although couldn't understand a word they said since it was in latin or some other language.

Following church a large group of us (18) went together for lunch at a fairly new place called the Ground Round.  We got seated right away but it took forever to be served and it was almost 3 pm when we got home.  I think we are going to start breaking up into smaller groups of 4 or 6 and switch folks with whom we share a table.  We think we would be seated and served much more quickly.  We had only one server to wait on us and she obviously had other duties as well.  The food, once we got it, was very good and I would go back and give it another try.

One very funny thing happened that I must share.  When the waiter was serving the food she had a burger but no one was saying they had ordered it.  Finally she pulled out her pad and saw it went to the man whose wife had ordered a fish sandwich.  She looked at her pad and said it was what the man sitting with the fish sandwich had ordered.  Of course she was referring to his wife.  We all about fell out of our chairs laughing and I told the lady she would from now on be known as "the fish sandwich".  This was our 90 year old couple.   Then when she got the fish sandwich it was overcooked and she couldn't cut through the fried crust so had to get another one, which she had to take home.

Janet, a wonderful report on the young person not expected to live.  I think it was last night I heard on the news a report on a new study that declared that prayer had no effect on healing.  I could only shake my head and think "oh Yeah!".

Oh, that's so funny, Larry...  "fish sandwich"  I'm going to remember that one.

I heard that report as well about prayer not having any effect of ill folks.  I shook my head as well.

I commented on your photo in the gallery, Marilyn.  Hope everyone goes to our gallery to see all of the photos and comment there.  Some great photos in there.

Hi, friends, It's beem stormy here today, but the electricity only stayed off for a short while. I'm thankful that a big problem one of my children had seems to be on its way to resolution.

...his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Janet

I cropped photos for several hours yesterday, and again this afternoon.  I will be ready to do a bunch of pages for my albums.  I can crop and watch/listen to TV at the same time, and it helps the time go faster.  As I go, I sort the photos into envelopes and mark them as to which albums they are to be entered into.

We had a business meeting at church tonight.  We got copies of the year end financial report for last year, and then discussed putting the parsonage on the market to sell.  It is a mobile home (very nice one) on a corner lot, with a double garage, fenced in yard and a nice deck.  But still pretty small for a family of five, and the pastors want to be able to have people over more.  This is something the church has wanted to do for some time, and now that we have grown and are growing, we will be making a bid on a nice four-bedroom, split-level house, with a large lot, and more empty lots next to it, with an eye to building a new church there, too.  The voting was nearly 100% in favor, with only one dissenting vote.

I need to get to bed soon, takes me a while to get used to the time change. :-\
