Morning Devotional...

And there arose a great storm of wind. And there was a great calm.
Mark 4:37; Mark 4:39

The storm itself did not last long, but the whole incident has many lasting lessons.

First we learn that, even when we act in obedience to the Lord's command and with a clear sense of His presence as well, we may still meet unexpected problems and dangers.

Then we notice the ease with which Christ turned the great storm into a great calm, and that to the great amazement of His wondering disciples.

He can amaze you in the same way today.
—W. P. W. McVey

Looking off unto Jesus my spirit is blest;
In the world I have turmoil, in Him I have rest;
The sea of my life all about me may roar,
when I look unto Jesus, I see it no more.

I'm FIRST :D  I'm 1st ;D

Today I will look to Jesus for His comfort and rest as I am in  this storm of my life right now.  It's hard for me...a very independent, stubborn woman...to be at the mercy of others.  I will rest in the LORD and see what He has for me today.  I can return to work next week if:  someone drives me, I can keep my leg elevated, and I don't walk on my foot.  At home I have a wheelchair and I can get around really good.  I don't know if I can get it in at work.  Otherwise I have to use a walker and just hop.  I better practice here at home.  Build up my strength with it because the boot is just as heavy as a cast.

God's blessings to all. :) :)

BTW.   I am using Mozilla and the ads will not come up for me to click on.  Can someone help me.  I would like to turn the" ad blocker" off for this site but don't know where it is.  I think I can do it on Explorer and I may have to go back to using Explorer to be able to click on the ads.

King at the Flood

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever. The Lord will give strength unto His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace" (Psalm 29:10-11).

There are quite a few different Hebrew words which are translated "flood" in the Old Testament. The word in this passage (Hebrew, mabbul), however, is unique in that it is only used elsewhere in the account of the Noahic Flood, thus indicating conclusively that the dramatic scenes described in this psalm occurred at the time of the great Flood.

There was never in all history such a time as that, when "the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually" (Genesis 6:5). God therefore brought about "The end of all flesh" (v.13)—no doubt millions, perhaps billions, of ungodly men and women—by the great mabbul.

In spite of the fact that nearly every culture all around the globe (made up of descendants of the eight survivors of the Flood) remembers this terrible event in the form of "flood legends," the very concept of God's judgment on sin is so offensive to the natural mind that modern scholarship now even denies it as a fact of history.

Nevertheless, the epitaph of the antediluvian world is written in stone, in the sedimentary rocks and fossil beds, everywhere one looks all over the world. The great-
est rebellion ever mounted against the world's Creator by His creatures (both men and fallen angels) was put down by God simply by His voice! "The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord
is upon many waters" (Psalm 29:3).

In all the great turmoil of the Flood, Noah and the righteous remnant in the Ark were safe through it all. In every age, even in times of stress and danger, "the Lord will bless His people with peace." HMM

Pat: you can check out Cholest-off HERE

Good Morning, Kathy you were first. I am second. I am praying for your quick healing sister. I too wish I were closer to some of my brothers and sisters here on CP. It would be so much fun to get together and talk, to pray to do Bible studies together. I didn't know you were living alone  there. I have a son in Huntersville NC, that I haven't seen in years or heard from either.

Pat thanks for the devotional this morning. and for all the hard work you do for us here.

Good Morning Everyone!

It's a nice day here in Guelph--just a wee tad chilly but it's ok.  I'm going to take Geordie for a walk a little later.  We went for a nice long walk last night and it felt so good for me to get to do this. This (today) is the 12th week of these spasms and I pray that they will all just end soon.

Marilyn, thanks for adding that good thought today.   And thanks for the info on the Cholesterol.  I don't have a problem with cholesterol but it's good to know a good remedy in case.

Hi Ruth!   Great to see you today.  Is it as nice in Nobleton as it is here?

Alma, I'm happy to see you posting and also sharing your great photos on Photography Cafe.  There is so much more space on that site and much, much more bandwidth.  But you can share them on this site if you post the intermediate photo.  Everyone can if they like.

Kathy, what you're going through with that ankle, I sympathize with you.  I've been there and it's a horrible feeling having to be waited on hand and foot.  And Jack having his quadruple bypass surgery at the same time didn't help either.  Poor Terena, my new daughter-in-law came here EVERY DAY for six weeks to look after both Jack and I after he came home from the hospital and she cooked our meals and did the laundry.  She was just so special.

To God Be The Glory
(Click to hear music)

God and our Father:
To Whom be glory for ever.
Galatians 1:4-5

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: W. Howard Doane

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

Good morning, everyone!  Good to see so many posts already; some days are very slow in here.

Alma, I know your job must get depressing at times, and having the poor lady's kids ignore her so much only adds to the sorrow.  But you are doing a good thing there, and God will reward you.  We do need to have a CP bash!  I know it probably isn't possible, but it is fun to dream, anyway.  :)

Marilyn, thanks for that link.  I looked at it, and the price isn't bad at all, for 60 days worth of the stuff.  I think I will ask my doctor about it tomorrow, I have to take Beth in to see him again.

I walked a mile and swam a half mile this morning.  It felt SOOO good to be back in the water!  I have missed that.  When we do our complete routines Kristi has designed for us, it takes about an hour and a half, so no time to swim.  But she said I was working too hard, and that I should take a day off, or swim---so of course I chose to swim!  The walking is good, too, just need a day off the weights.

No real news today---see you later.

Hi Janet...

I'm just about to take Geordie for a walk.  Last evening I did and it felt so good to be out and walking.

I find that our pool is just too cold for me so I don't enjoy going there.  There's a warmer one across town but guess I'm too lazy to drive that far when I can walk to this one.  :o

Hi all,

Thought some "moms" would like this email I received.

Subject: Mother's job description

POSITION:
Mother, Mom, Mama, Mommy, Ma

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Long term, team players needed, for challenging permanent work in an
often chaotic environment. Candidates must possess excellent
communication and organizational skills and be willing to work
variable hours, which will include evenings and weekends and frequent
24 hour shifts on call.

Some overnight travel required, including
trips to primitive camping sites on rainy weekends and endless sports
tournaments in far away cities. Travel expenses not reimbursed.
Extensive courier duties also required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The rest of your life. Must be willing to be hated, at least
temporarily, until someone needs $5. Must be willing to bite tongue
repeatedly.

Also, must possess the physical stamina of a pack mule
and be able to go from zero to 60 mph in three seconds flat in case,
this time, the screams from the backyard are not someone just crying
wolf.

Must be willing to face stimulating technical challenges, such
as small gadget repair, mysteriously sluggish toilets and stuck
zippers.

Must screen phone calls, maintain calendars and coordinate
production of multiple homework projects. Must have ability to plan
and organize social gatherings for clients of all ages and mental
outlooks.

Must be willing to be indispensable one minute, an
embarrassment the next.

Must handle assembly and product safety
testing of a half million cheap, plastic toys, an d battery operated
devices.

Must always hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

Must assume final, complete accountability for the quality of the end
product. Responsibilities also include floor maintenance and
janitorial work throughout the facility.

POSSIBILITY FOR ADVANCEMENT & PROMOTION:

Virtually none. Your job is to remain in the same position for years,
without complaining, constantly retraining and updating your skills,
so that those in your charge can ultimately surpass you.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

None required unfortunately. On-the-job training offered on a
continually exhausting basis.

WAGES AND COMPENSATION :

Get this! You pay them!

Offering frequent raises and bonuses. A balloon payment is due when they turn 18 because of the assumption
that college will help them become financially independent.

When you die, you give them whatever is left. The oddest thing about this
reverse-salary scheme is that you actually enjoy it and wish you
could only do more.

BENEFITS:

While no health or dental insurance, no pension, no tuition
reimbursement, no paid holidays and no stock options are offered;
this job supplies limitless opportunities for personal growth and
free hugs for life if you play your cards right.

karmat

Yep, that is a mom.

Janet -- I think a CP bash is a great idea.  I would love to.  I think a cruise would be a neat idea.  Yea, a cruise.  A lot of Christian speakers are offering cruises these days.  Kinda a retreat on water, if you will.  I know they are costly, but I can dream, too, can't I. :)

I hope all ya'll are having a good day today!!

Prayer: Take Time to Listen

The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the
simple. I opened my mouth and panted, for I longed for Your
commandments.
-Psalm 119:130-131

The Quakers had many fine ideas about life, and there is a story from
them that illustrates the point I am trying to make. It concerns a
conversation between Samuel Taylor Coleridge and a Quaker woman he
had met. Maybe Coleridge was boasting a bit, but he told the woman
how he had arranged the use of time so he would have no wasted hours.
He said he memorized Greek while dressing and during breakfast. He
went on with his list of other mental activities--making notes,
reading, writing, formulating thoughts and ideas--until bedtime.

The Quaker listened unimpressed. When Coleridge was finished with his
explanation, she asked him a simple, searching question: "My friend,
when dost thee think?"

God is having a difficult time getting through to us because we are
a fast-paced generation. We seem to have no time for contemplation.
We have no time to answer God when He calls.
Jesus, Author of our Faith, p. 46

"Thank You, Lord, that You convicted me some time ago about this
need for time to think, of the need for solitude and silence. Make
this increasingly possible for me, but also for many of my brothers
and sisters who have not discovered the value of this slowing down.
Amen."

Not much to say today.  Jerry is about the same.  I am tired.  I think all of it is catching up with me.  Donna got to her daughter's okay.  It was still a great time spent with Donna.  Must do it again the next time she is here from Texas.

I'll be back later to post the NEM for Thursday.

Thank you for the pictures of Jerry.  I really appreciated getting those.

Demolition has started here on  this property by taking down the trees. With one of the trees they took out part of my shed where the washer and dryer are. I have posted 3 pics in "It has started" my photo thread. but keep your eyes peeled on that thread as I will be posting more photos.

Hello everyone.

After a long and tiring day, I am going to make a cup of tea and watch some TV and crochet before going to bed!  An early night for sure!

Pat

Marilyn, they took out part of your shed?  That's awful.  Was any damage done to the washer and dryer?

Hi Sue!

Thanks, Etta Sue, for the photos.  Poor Jerry.  God bless him.  I just love your little graphics so much.  Thanks!

No damage to the washer and dryer, they were supposed to do something about it before they left so it would not be all wet in there from all this rain, wind and hail But they didn't. It is a good thing that I have always kept my washer and dryer covered with a tarp anyway. They sure made a mess.

Re the Cholest-off (or whatever the name was. :)) I have good rx insurance through the VA.....I pay nothing if I get meds through the Meds By Mail program.  I take Lipitor, and they pay, but would have to pay out of pocket if I went an over-the-counter route.  I couldn't afford that, so will have to stay with the prescription.

I sure hope to hear a good report for those of you who will try it.

Rainy day here.  It makes me lazy.  I've been reading and watching the rain out the window.

Janet

Hello again.  My eye was much better this morning, then got worse as the day progressed, so I called, only to learn my doctor is out of his office until Monday.  Really until Wednesday, as he is here Wed-Fri.  So I called Garden City, and they couldn't see me until Friday, either.  I told them I thought it was the "punctum plug" in my tear duct trying to come out, and scratching my eye.  They asked if I could see it, and I said "Yes.  Can I just pull it out myself?"  They said go ahead, so I got the tweezers and pulled what I thought was the plastic plug, but it was a little white, hard grain of something, very hard and scratchy.  My eye looks awful and is still mattering up and hurting, but maybe it will be all better in the morning.  I will put more medicine in it tonight.

In case any of you aren't familiar with those plugs, they put them in to help dry eye problems.  I've had them for several years and never had any problems with them.  Not sure that is the problem now, either.  Just hope it clears up soon, as it is uncomfortable.

Sorry not to answer each one, but my eye wants to stay closed.

Hi, friends,

Just here for a moment. Hopefully, the rush job will be completed tomorrow.

A bit of concern about some tests that were run a couple of weeks ago, so one of the docs has asked me to come to see him at 3:30 Friday afternoon.
