Morning Devotional...

Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn. So she gleaned in the field until even.
Ruth 2:2, 17

Where hast thou gleaned today?
Ruth 2:19

There was a provision under the law, to allow needy strangers, orphans and widows to go into the fields after harvest and gather the gleanings for their sustenance.

This made them beneficiaries of the gracious provision of the Lord.

We all fall into the classification of needy people. Everything
that we have, whether physical or spiritual is graciously provided by the mercy and grace of God.

Lord help me to accept the lowly status of a needy gleaner, that I may enjoy the bountiful banquet You have invited me to enjoy.
--M. Haack

O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:39

Author:  S. Trevor Francis, 1834-1925
Musician:  Thomas John Williams, 1869-1944

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me,
is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward
to Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
spread His praise from shore to shore!
How he loveth, ever loveth,
changeth never, nevermore!
How he watches o'er His loved ones,
died to call them all His own;
How for them intercedeth,
watcheth o'er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
love of every love the best!
'Tis an ocean full of blessing,
'tis a haven giving rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus,
'tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
for it lifts me up to Thee!

Yes, everything we have is from our Father.  And He is such a good Father too.

I came to read and post, and now don't have a thing to say.  lol   I'll be back tomorrow.  Nita

Good Friday morning - we had such a nice Maundy Thursday service last night.  Several of the men did a skit of the trial of Jesus and then the altar was cleared of everything - we left in silence & that is really tough for many of us -  :D

Pat:  Love the heading of your devotion on "only God can instruct hearts".

Much too often, I think of the words of two of our children - that they went to church too much growing up and they are not interested.  Larry, you mentioned your son feeling this way.  It makes me cry and feel so depressed about it and then there are times when I feel that this is something out of my control - please tell me again that this is the "perfect plan" as I don't feel that I can move this mountain.

Janet:  I am glad to hear that Beth now has a good bed for her situation.

Etta Sue:  I was wondering if you were closer to Indianapolis - the flowers must be in full bloom now - it was awesome to see our white covered mountain when we drove into the state.

Karmat:  Just wanted to say hello - we spent two nights with a friend in the Leasburg, N.C. area - lovely.  Friends daughter is a vet with specialty in horses - a   Southern California girl who moved there & they love it.

Alma:  I enjoyed your words of encouragement to Larry concerning his son - same situation here.  I feel jealous and sad when I see entire family sitting in the pew.  And, you are a good heart for rescuing your friend - hugs and encouragement to both of you.

Ruthie:  Hugs to you as well.

Marilyn:  Another hug to you.

Jane ~ If you recently changed to peoplepc, why did I already have your peoplepc email address?  Weird.  Or did you mean you just delected info of your other isp?

Not much news other than I hope to take Aaron to the bank and then out to eat for lunch.  This evening I will go to church with Ivalou to their Good Friday service.  It is always a blessing to attend her church.

Tony came last evening and fixed my oil-leaking Craftsman.  It seems when Jerry last changed the oil, he didn't get the oil filter cover tight!  Or it worked loose after some hours of mowing!  I sure miss that man.  He was contrary at times but so loving and caring most of the time.

Ivalou got her yard mowed yesterday also.  I think Kaye Don and Barb are coming home today, too.

Good Morning: Well I got my back yard mowed yesterday by one of the Deacons, earlier in the day the man across the street mowed my front yard. Praise the Lord.

I am going to Tai Chi at 10 am then to Leroy's to work.

Nothing else new here, both my shoulders are sore from lifting weights for a very short time yesterday. It has been too long.

Happy Good Friday to you all!  Why Happy?  Because if it wasn't for His death were still would be condemned!

Pat loved the devotional.  Haven't heard that hymn in years.

Rick is home, please continue to pray as the healing is just so slow.

The weather is beautiful here.  +15 and the snow is gone.  Woohoo.
Spring has sprung,
The grass is riz,
I wonder where the birdies is,
The birdies is on the wing,
How absurd,
The wing is on the bird!

Have a good day folks.

Yup, that's what I did.   :)  I changed my email address(es) before deciding to get rid of wmconnect.  I have hotmail and yahoo for my email because they are very "portable" and I can access them from any computer wherever I happen to be. Peoplepc is now my isp for internet access.  I like it because it uses the IE browser.  AOL (wmconnect) has had its own browser but is merging with Netscape and will become Netscape.com ... I don't care for Netscape and have not been happy with AOL for a long time.  WMConnect uses AOL browser.   :-\  Anyway, I have made the big switch and deleted (almost) all signs of AOL/WM and am in the process of deciding about Firefox.  Change comes slowly for me....   :-\   ::)   ;)

Yes this is Good Friday. Usually every year this day starts out being cloudy or wet then by afternoon it is sunny which is what we now have.

I have been having a nagging problem with my neck and shoulder and this morning was my 4th trip to physio. I will be going for a few more visits before all is well.

Got my online banking done so now I will be off to finish the other chores.

Yawn..........I am so tired today.  We had just fallen into a deep sleep when the phone rang last night.  It was Beth, saying she needed help.  Out into the night in my pajamas, to find her flat on the floor.  No way could I pick her up, so called Darrel and he came and helped me.  I got her to the bathroom, then we got her into bed.  Of course, by then we were both wide awake, and I didn't get back to sleep until nearly 5 AM. ???

Not much to say today, think I will take a nap.  We went to Garden to do a trouble call, picked up another grab bar for Beth, also got her a couple of rugs, as he feet slip on her floor.  I hope these will 'stick' so she won't slip.

Later!

Janet you need to get Beth a life line bracelet to wear then all she has to do is press the button on the bracelet or necklace it is like calling 911, they will send someone to help her.  All my clients have them.

I have been doing Leroy's laundry and typing up the  eulogy the the Preacher doing the service will be reading.

I got in 7 hours sleep lst night, it is getting better.

I have wedding to attend tomorrow so I had better get my hair washed and take a shower.

Marilyn, Darrel installed a MedicAlert system for Beth a long time ago.  But if she uses it, they will call.....US.  :-\The others cost quite a lot, and they are only for older people (over 60) at least here.  And if she calls 911, they will insist on taking her to the hospital, and if she isn't hurt, that is a lot of added expense and aggravation.  Darrel and I told each other this week, that if and when we need Medicare, we hope Beth hasn't used up her share and ours, too. ???

I took a nap, while attempting to watch the news, and now I really feel groggy.  But tomorrow is another day.........

Hi everyone.  It is getting late and I am very tired so will try to be brief (know you find that hard to believe since I am usually not brief.

Today was our Learning Center Volunteer Monthly meeting and then our PC User Group.  We had to medical librarians from the Center for Disease Control as our speakers and they told us of a very fine and useful and reliable medical website called Medlineplus.  It is www.medlineplus.gov if you want to check it out.

I appreciate the kind words.  I never give up hope as know my God is an awesome God.  I am so saddened by the fact that some men have been unkind and physcially and mentally cruel to a woman.  This is something I just can't even phantom.

I want to share with you all something I got via e-mail today that, while rather long, is a wonderful story about a lady of great faith.  See you all tomorrow.

THE STORY OF EDITH BURNS...
     Happy Easter!

Edith Burns was a wonderful Christian who lived in San Antonio,
Texas.       She was the patient of a doctor by the name of Will Phillips. Dr.
Phillips was a gentle doctor who saw patients as people. His favorite patient
was  Edith Burns.

One morning he went to his office with a heavy heart and it was
because of Edith Burns. When he walked into that waiting room, there sat
Edith with her big black Bible in her lap earnestly talking to a young mother
sitting beside her.

Edith Burns had a habit of introducing herself in this way: "Hello,
my name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in Easter?" Then she would explain
the meaning of Easter, and many times people would be saved.

Dr. Phillips walked into that office and there he saw the head nurse,
Beverly.      Beverly had first met Edith when she was taking her blood pressure.
Edith began by saying,"My name is Edith Burns. Do you believe in
Easter?"
Beverly said, "Why yes I do." Edith said, "Well, what do you believe
about Easter?"
Beverly said, "Well, it's all about egg hunts, going to church, and
dressing up."
Edith kept pressing her about the real meaning of Easter, and finally
led her to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Phillips said, "Beverly, don't call Edith into the office quite
yet. I believe there is another delivery taking place in the waiting room.

After being called back in the doctor's office, Edith sat down and
when she took a look at the doctor she said, "Dr. Will, why are you so sad?
Are you reading your Bible? Are you praying?"

Dr. Phillips said gently, "Edith, I'm the doctor and you're the
patient."

With a heavy heart he said, "Your lab report came back and it says
you have cancer, and Edith, you're not going to live very long."

Edith said, "Why Will Phillips, shame on you. Why are you so sad? Do
you think God makes mistakes? You have just told me I'm going to see my
precious Lord Jesus, my husband, and my friends. You have just told me that
I am going to celebrate Easter forever, and here you are having difficulty
giving me my ticket!"

Dr. Phillips thought to himself, "What a magnificent woman this Edith
Burns is!"

Edith continued coming to Dr. Phillips. Christmas came and the office
was closed through January 3rd. On the day the office opened, Edith did not
show up. Later that afternoon, Edith called Dr. Phillips and said she would
have to be moving her story to the hospital and said, "Will, I'm very near
home, so would you make sure that they put women in here next to me in my
room who need to know about Easter."

Well, they did just that and women began to come in and share that
room with Edith. Many women were saved. Everybody on that floor from staff
to patients were so excited about Edith, that they started calling her
Edith Easter; that is everyone except Phyllis Cross, the head nurse.

Phyllis made it plain that she wanted nothing to do with Edith
because she was a "religious nut". She had been a nurse in an army
hospital. She had seen it all and heard it all. She was the original G.I.
Jane. She had been married three times, she was hard, cold, and did
everything by the book.

One morning the two nurses who were to attend to Edith were sick.
Edith had the flu and Phyllis Cross had to go in and give her a shot. When
she walked in, Edith had a big smile on her face and said, "Phyllis, God
loves you and I love you, and I have been praying for you."

Phyllis Cross said, "Well, you can quit praying for me, it won't
work. I'm not interested."

Edith said, "Well, I will pray and I have asked God not to let me go
home until you come into the family."

Phyllis Cross said, "Then you will never die because that will never
happen," and curtly walked out of the room.

Every day Phyllis Cross would walk into the room and Edith would say,
"God loves you Phyllis and I love you, and I'm praying for you."

One day Phyllis Cross said she was literally drawn to Edith's room
like a magnet would draw iron. She sat down on the bed and Edith said, "I'm
so glad you have come, because God told me that today is your special day."

Phyllis Cross said, "Edith, you have asked everybody here the
question, "Do you believe in Easter but you have never asked me."

Edith said, "Phyllis, I wanted to many times, but God told me to wait
until you asked, and now that you have asked." Edith Burns took her Bible
and shared with Phyllis Cross the Easter Story of the death, burial and
resurrection of Jesus Christ. Edith said, "Phyllis, do you believe in
Easter? Do you believe that Jesus Christ is alive and that He wants to live in your heart?"

Phyllis Cross said, "Oh I want to believe that with all of my heart,
and I do want Jesus in my life.

"Right there, Phyllis Cross prayed and invited Jesus Christ into her
heart. For the first time Phyllis Cross did not walk out of a hospital
room, she was carried out on the wings of angels. Two days later, Phyllis
Cross came in and Edith said, "Do you know what day it is?" Phyllis Cross
said, "Why Edith, it's Good Friday." Edith said, "Oh, no, for you every day
is Easter. Happy Easter Phyllis!"

Two days later, on Easter Sunday, Phyllis Cross came into work, did
some of her duties and then went down to the flower shop and got some
Easter lilies because she wanted to go up to see Edith and give her some
Easter lilies and wish her a Happy Easter.

When she walked into Edith's room, Edith was in bed. That big black
Bible was on her lap. Her hands were in that Bible. There was a sweet smile
on her face. When Phyllis Cross went to pick up Edith's hand, she realized
Edith was dead. Her left hand was on John 14: "In my Father's house are
many mansions. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and
receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also." Her right
hand was on Revelation 21:4, "And God will wipe away every tear from their
eyes, there shall be no more death nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall
be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Phyllis Cross took one look at that dead body, and then lifted her
face toward heaven, and with tears streaming down here cheeks, said, "Happy
Easter, Edith - Happy Easter!"

Phyllis Cross left Edith's body, walked out of the room, and over to
a table where two student nurses were sitting. She said, "My name is
Phyllis Cross. Do you believe in Easter?"

Janet, that has got to be extremely distressing to never know when Beth might call and be in trouble.  God grant you gracel and enable you to know you're serving Him when you help her.

Pat - that hymn is Marbeth's very favorite - thank you!

Hello folks...

Today has been a bit of a difficult day with memories as today would have been Jack's birthday.  So Geordie and I went to the cemetery so that Geordie could run around looking for squirrels, etc.  We had a lovely walk and I took some daffodils up to put on the grave.

Anyway, since it's Easter and we're all busy with family, I'm just going to add tomorrow's date to this New Every Morning and then we can just continue our conversation in here.

I'm so glad that that is Marbeth's favourite hymn, Al.  It's one of mine as well.

A great Holy Saturday to you all!  It is very foggy here this morning.  I even went outside and took some foggy pictures.

I went to Ivalou's church for Good Friday services last evening.  Wonderful.  I felt Christ in that little church.

Yesterday Aaron and I went out to eat.  He wanted to get his paycheck and deposit it at his bank and eat out.  Pay check wasn't there yet.  So we ate and he wanted to go to his church and ask a question.  The office was closed because of Good Friday.  But we got to visit and eat out.

Then I went to my bank and to Kitty's.  It was so good to see Kitty again.  We talked...she has found out her glucose is high also so we are both going to be eating the same.  I showed her a few things on the pc to do.  Great day.

I am still having problems with my pc.  Well, it works fine but my anti-virus still finds a Win 32: Swizzor-gen trojan virus.  I move it to the 'virus chest' (isolation)  but the anti-virus detector will find it again somewhere else.  Thank God, the pc works fine.

Today is a day of rest...getting ready for church tomorrow.

Kaye Don and Barb got home from Florida yesterday but I haven't seen them yet!  Just know they are home.

I had such a groggy day yesterday, because of so little sleep, that I didn't get much exercise at all.  So as soon as I got up this morning, I went out and walked about four miles, and the weather was so lovely.  Then, about an hour later, the wind hit with such a fury it sounded like the house would be blown away!  :o Ugh.

Pat, ((((((hugs)))))) to you, and remember:  Jack would not want you to be sad, nor to grieve for him.  He is with our lovely Saviour, in the most beautiful place, beyond our imagining.  So try to look at it from Jack's point of view, and be happy for him.  And be joyful that you will be joining him over there in the not too distant future.  I believe it won't be long before we are all taken HOME.  Oh, what a glorious day that will be!

I am a week behind on my FLYlady missions, so think I will tackle the linen closet today.  I know there is a lot of stuff stashed there that doesn't belong, and likely a lot that can be tossed.  What are YOU doing today? ::)

I had a call from Abby last night, inviting me to their house for an Easter egg hunt tomorrow.  But her parents have other plans.  Diane said they HAVE to work on income tax.  :P  I'm so glad Darrel does ours EARLY.  I have to just treasure these days with Abby, because I know how quickly she will be all grown up, and not need Grama so much any more. <3

Well, that linen closet is beckoning, so..................

Thanks Larry for sharing that with us.  I so enjoyed reading it.

How are you all today?

I took a photo yesterday of Geordie and a new friend he met up at the cemetery.  It was so much fun watching them for awhile running and playing together.  I'll put it in my gallery.

Yesterday afternoon the pastor asked me if I'd go with him to a small local retirement home to visit and serve communion.  There are only six women and one man living there right now and it was a lovely visit.  Shut-ins are always so grateful to have communion brought to them.

Then this morning we put up two more cows in the sanctuary - that's a total of 14 now, representing $2800.  :cheer: Actually it's $2811 so when we get another $189 we'll put up the 15th cow.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to get to Sunrise Service but 6:30 is pretty early for this old lady to get out.  We'll see.  Whether or not I manage that, the regular celebration will be at 10:30 and that's certainly do-able.  :thumbsup2:

Hi everyone.  I don't know where the day has gone but it is now evening.  For some reason, I can't get my laptop to access the Internet.

This morning after coffee my friend Rod and I went to a man's home who had replaced his computer system in his home office.  He had three monitors (2 of them 17 inch), a couple computers, a printer, and some related items.  He wanted to get rid of them.  So now I have a new monitor (to me) as my second monitor for my desktop and will have a computer in reserve (although not sure I will use it as it is very slow) and some speakers.  The price was right--nothing.

I came home and worked on my computer for awhile but was tired so took a nap.  About 3 pm Rod called again and wanted to go to Fry's.  So I went over to his house and he drove us up there.  He purchased something and I got a little belt clip holder for my cellphone that was just $3.

Etta Sue, have you tried booting in safemode and running your anti-virus program to remove the virus?

I also want to welcome Ellette to CP--we are happy to have you join us.

Going to say goodnight as I am tired.  See you all tomorrow.
