Morning Devotional...

On His head were many crowns.
Revelation 19:12

The Jews cried out at His crucifixion that if He was a king then He should have a crown.

The crown that He wore on that day was made from cruel thorns, a product of the cursed earth. These were pressed down on that holy brow into which never an evil thought passed.

Praise and thank God that today He is the Victor and not the Victim. He is today crowned with glory and honor and He is worthy of it all.

May our hearts be full to overflowing as we come to worship Him today.
--John M. Clegg

The head that once was crowned with thorns
Is crowned with glory now!
A royal diadem adorns
the mighty Victor's brow.

Good morning everyone.  It is unusual for me to be among the first to post for the day.  Guess everyone is getting a little extra rest this morning or already busy.

Not much new for me.  I plan on going to church and singing in the choir.  I missed practice Wednesday night but we have sung this anthem before and I do read music so think it will be ok.  We also have a rehearsal before the church service so will have a chance to see if there are any weak spots.  If there is our choir director will hear them.  She is amazing as hears every wrong note and can tell you which section and what note was involved.  She has perfect pitch as well as a most beautiful voice.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.  Glad you were able to get your apple tree trimmed and sprayed and then your family could be there.  It sounds like you have a very smart little grandson.

My son was here yesterday afternoon and put in the increased memory (so I now am running with 512 megs of memory) and he also was able to spread the fire ant treatment over the entire yard.  It is a once a year application and does a very good job.

Hope everyone has a very good day.

The Powers of God

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty" (Revelation 1:8).

In these days of rampant humanism, blatant materialism, and effete religionism, the very concept of an all-powerful God who created, controls, and judges all things seems anachronistic, but God is still there and is still the Almighty.

Three Greek words are translated "power" in Scripture-exousia ("authority"), dunamis ("ability"), and kratos ("strength"). Each is attributed in unlimited extent to God the Creator as incarnate in Christ the Redeemer. "All power [`authority'] is given unto me in heaven and in earth" (Matthew 28:18). "For thine is the kingdom, and the power [`ability'], and the glory, for ever" (Matthew 6:13). "That ye may know . . . the exceeding greatness of His power [`ability'] to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power [`strength'], Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power [`authority'], and might, and dominion" (Ephesians 1:18-21).

He is the "Almighty God" of Abraham (Genesis 17:1), "the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth" (Isaiah 40:28). "Our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased" (Psalm 115:3).

God can do whatever He pleases, except anything contrary to His nature. He "cannot lie" (Titus 1:2), for He is "the truth" (John 14:6). His inspired word is inerrant-"the scripture of truth" (Daniel 10:21). We can be certain that He did not "create" the world by evolution, for that would be contradicted both by His infallible Word and by His omnipotence. Being all-powerful, God would surely not create by such a cruel, inefficient process as evolution. HMM

Marilyn isn't correct - there is something new here - it's clear and sunny!  Larry - wish I could hear that choir, as I love choir music, especially when it it singing the praises of God.  May God bless it indeed, both to you and to all who listen!  Our pastor will be starting a series on Genesis today, so that should be interesting.  May God bless each and every one of you this morning!

boy, oh boy!  I slept in.  I always get up at 6:30. Always!  I did get up at 6:30, let the dogs outside, then was just too tired to stay up.  I went back to bed and slept till 9.  I couldn't believe it.  I took two Tylenol PM last night around 11 pm.  I guess they work. :)
I was too tired to make coffee this morning, so I'm sitting here, finishing up a cup of instant.  Hmmm.....I think a cup of instant coffee lasts longer than my regular.

AL, sunshine, sunshine, sunshine.  Here too.  We have lots of clouds, but blue sky in between and just now the sun came through.  It's beautiful!  I'd almost forgotten what it looked like.

Puppies(7 mos. old now)are sleeping at my feet, so I'll have to move them before I roll my chair away from the desk and get this day going.  I think I'll post a picture of them if anyone wants to see what they look like now.

oops.  Stayed here too long.  The sunshine is gone again. :-\ :-\

Prayer: Prayer Changes the Man

And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father
may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I
will do it.
--John 14:13-14

In all our praying, however, it is important that we keep in mind
that God will not alter His eternal purposes at the word of a man.
We do not pray in order to persuade God to change His mind. Prayer
is not an assault upon the reluctance of God, nor an effort to
secure a suspension of His will for us or for those for whom we
pray. Prayer is not intended to overcome God and "move His arm."
God will never be other than Himself, no matter how many people
pray, nor how long nor how earnestly.

God's love desires the best for all of us, and He desires to give
us the best at any cost. He will open rivers in desert places,
still turbulent waves, quiet the wind, bring water from the rock,
send an angel to release an apostle from prison, feed an
orphanage, open a land long closed to the gospel. All these things
and a thousand others He has done and will do in answer to prayer,
but only because it had been His will to do it from the beginning.
No one persuades Him.

What the praying man does is to bring his will into line with the
will of God so God can do what He has all along been willing to
do. Thus prayer changes the man and enables God to change things
in answer to man's prayer.
The Price of Neglect, pp. 51-52

"Eternal God, I realize that I am in no position to tell You how
to run Your universe--or even my tiny corner of it. Yet somehow
You have given me the awesome privilege of communing with You,
bringing my requests, and waiting upon You to bring my will in
line with Yours. Then somehow You work in answer to my prayer!
Thank You. Amen."

Hello, friends.  Good to see everyone who is here today!

I took my sewing machine out to the Civic Center yesterday to have it repaired, as it wouldn't even hum..........I think something was just loose, because, woulln't you know--it worked fine for that guy!  :-\  But he cleaned and serviced it anyway, along with trying his best to sell me a much newer model that would do most everything except wash the dishes.  ;)  I was sorely tempted, but convinced myself that if I start using this one more, and maybe borrow Diane's (which is much newer and fancier) then, when they come back next year, if I feel the expense is justified, I may buy one at that time.  I have never had a new sewing machine.  This one was my sister's, and when she was killed in a car wreck, I inherited her machine along with her kids.

We aren't having services tonight at our church, but going out to join Country View Baptist church who are hosting a group giving a concert.  Should be a nice evening.  We will have a new pastor in two weeks!!!!  YEA!!  We are so excited about them getting here..

Beth called this morning, said her head was hurting so bad she couldn't go to church.  I hope that passes soon.

I'm waiting for a call from a cousin in California.  She is working on a book on our family history, and wants some information from me.  Mom is a treasure trove of information that no one else has any more.  I wish I could think of many more things to ask her about and get it all in writing, while she is still with us.  I'm working on it!!

Oh, yeah---on my second trip out to the Civic Center yesterday, I won another prize.  Two nice cofee mugs from State Farm Ins.  ;D ;D ;D  I walk in the FOG everywhere I go!   (FOG=Favor Of God.)  ;D ;D

Hello everyone.

Busy day today.  I got to church around 7:30 a.m.  I manned the lights but got the tapes all ready for duplication before manning the lights.  A gentleman helped duplicate all the tapes between services so I could go back to doing the lights.  I left church at 12:30 p.m.

I imagine everyone heard about the little Afghan boy that had heart surgery in Indianapolis that died two days after returning to Afghan with his father.  Well, my church is having a memorial service tonight for the little boy.  We think there will be a lot of people since the church website was hit over 2,000 times just last night.  Probably to find directions to the church.  And some are coming on buses.  The Rotary Club in Greenfield helped sponsor the little boy and his father in coming to the United States so they were going to be hosts for tonight but our pastor asked for help also.

I just got home from seeing Jerry.  When I got there, I saw his son, DIL and grandson.  Little Daniel went to sleep in his stroller while we stood in the hall talking.  Jerry was asleep when I first got there.  I couldn't even wake him up.  It seems he was aggitated/restless this morning and the nurse gave him something for pain.  Made him sleepy.  Jerry woke later and wanted the TV shut off.  But at the hospital you have to change channels until it goes to an 'off' channel.  But NASCAR was on.  He raised his arm when I got to it.  So I left it on the race.  I was talking to him and all of a sudden, he pointed his finger at me.  Then looked at the speaker/call button thingy.  Then put his finger to his lips to shush me.  Seems there was a caution and he wanted to hear who was involved in the accident.  Now, if NASCAR was on TV all the time, Jerry would get better.  HE LOVES HIS CARS!!

His son, DIL and grandson went back to Lynn's house and are going back to Pittsburg tomorrow.

I got home and got my empty gas cans and went to the gas station.  Whew!  $56 for 16.5 gallons of gas for my lawn mower and a half a tank for the car.  Whew!!

Now to mow again tomorrow.  Yes, Karma...I do take my yard mowing serious and I do have .86 acres to mow!!  Just glad I don't have to push a mower all over it.

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

Thank goodness! The big project is completely finished, so I'm home to rest. I laughed and told my son "I think I'll take the rest of the week off!"  :P

At any rate, we can each rest knowing that when my boss leaves for Philadelphia at what he calls "0 dark 30", he will have everything he needs.

I think I will take it much easier this week and kinda let the rest of the world go by.

Love to all,
Ruth Ann

Etta Sue, I am thankful for that good report on Jerry.  Thanks also for your email.  :)

The Shiloh Quartet was really, really good tonight.  The time slipped by so quickly I couldn't believe they had been singing that long.  They are from near Dallas, Texas, I think.  Maybe nearer to Ft. Worth.  Anyway, it was a very enjoyable service, and several people responded to the altar call, too.

I hope everyone has a refreshing night of rest tonight.  Ruth Ann, I am so glad you have a little breathing space for a while.  You need it!!  (((hugs)))

Hi Pat and Everyone
Else:

I would love to have someone prune my pear tree.   It hasn't had any pears on it for 2 years now.  Someone said that it just needs to be pruned back.   It is a big tree.  Maybe your friend could come into Toronto and prune mine.   I would pay him of course.

This coming week will be very hectic.  Between going to the doctor and the missionary conference at the church and EE Pastors Clinic, I don't think I will have a minute to breath.

Brian has just gone home to Milton.   Won't see him for another week.  Oh well, they say "absence make the heart grow fonder".

God bless

Love Ruthie
