JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Criticized and Deserted
John 6:41-71  NLT

Then the people began to murmur in disagreement because he had said, "I am the bread from heaven."  They said, "This is Jesus, the son of Joseph. We know his father and mother. How can he say, `I came down from heaven'?"

But Jesus replied, "Don't complain about what I said. For people can't come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them from the dead. As it is written in the Scriptures, `They will all be taught by God.'   Everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to me. (Not that anyone has ever seen the Father; only I, who was sent from God, have seen him.)

"I assure you, anyone who believes in me already has eternal life. Yes, I am the bread of life! Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they all died. However, the bread from heaven gives eternal life to everyone who eats it. I am the living bread that came down out of heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; this bread is my flesh, offered so the world may live."

Then the people began arguing with each other about what he meant. "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" they asked.

So Jesus said again, "I assure you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you. But those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them at the last day. For my flesh is he true food, and my blood is the true drink. All who eat my flesh and drink my blood remain in me, and I in them. I live by the power of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, those who partake of me will live because of me. I am the true bread from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever and not die as your ancestors did, even though they ate the manna."

He said these things while he was teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

Even his disciples said, "This is very hard to understand. How can anyone accept it?"

Jesus knew within himself that his disciples were complaining, so he said to them, "Does this offend you? Then what will you think if you see me, the Son of Man, return to heaven again? It is the Spirit who gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But some of you don't believe me." (For Jesus knew from the beginning who didn't believe, and he knew who would betray him.) Then he said, "That is what I meant when I said that people can't come to me unless the Father brings them to me."

At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, "Are you going to leave, too?"

Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom would we go? You alone have the words that give eternal life. We believe them, and we know you are the Holy One of God."

Then Jesus said, "I chose the twelve of you, but one is a devil." He was speaking of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who would betray him.

How do you react when you hear critical or derogatory comments about Jesus?

After many of Jesus' follwers had deserted him, he asked the twelve disciples if they were also going to leave.  Peter responded, "To whom would we go?"

In his straightforward way, Peter answered for all of us--there is no other way.  Jesus alone gives life.

People look everywhere for eternal life and miss Christ, the only source.  Stay with him, especially when you are confused or feel alone.

Marilyn ~ Glad you reminded me about the CP animation.....I forgot to check it out  :'(

I got my yard mowed again today and weed-eated.   Also took my cart to the woods with a load of sticks.  When I got back to the clearing....I saw two deer running off!  Monday night on the way home from Small Groups at 10:45p.m., there was a deer in the middle of the road about a third of a mile away from my house.  Deer is getting plentiful around here lately!

I didn't have any notices of the trojan virus for two days and thought it was finally gone.  NOT!  I downloaded something else to fix it hopefully!  Grrrrr! Computers!!!

DDS early in the morning to repair my partial plate.  Love that goop they put in your mouth for an impression!!  NOT!!  Then I return in the afternoon to get the fixed partial plate.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NARDS!!!

Hope all of ya'll have a wonderful day.  Kristi got up before dawn today, so I am sleepy sleepy sleepy. :(

Back at youn's later.

G'Morning

Happy Birthday Nards.

Another beautiful day. only +10 in the shade, but the promise of fine weather.

Janet

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NARDS!!  AND MANY MORE!!  :)

I am one tired gal today. ???  The meeting last night was wonderful, and the people were so warm, friendly, welcoming; and boy!  Did they pray for us, with power and fervor!  But it lasted until 10:00, then they served refreshments.  So we were up late to begin with; then my body rebelled at my eating so late (we usually eat around 5 or 5:30) so no sleep for me until after 4 AM. Yawn.....

I am so encouraged by the testimonials I heard last night about the Walk to Emmaus!  It seems to have radically changed some of the folks' lives.  And I'm praying it does that for us as well.  We live far too many of our days not being mindful of the Lord's constant presence with us, and not really doing anything for the Kingdom.  So I am welcoming the work of the Holy Spirit in my life.  Our sponsors will pick Darrel up at around 5:30 today, and he won't be home until Sunday evening.  They told us not to bring cell phones, cars (thus the pick-up) or anything that will distract us or remind us of any problems at home.

I'm so glad the walks are on separate weekends, this way one of us will be here if Beth needs help.

I must get going, have errands to do; including going back to the phone office about that fradulent charge from Horizon.  I thought we had that settled; now they are threatening to cut off our phone service!  :ticked:

I wisdh you all a most wonderful day!  OH!!  I almost forgot to tell you......our dear Mieka was on a few days ago, chatting with me--- she was in Bangladesh, of all places!!  She sends everyone her love; and mentioned in particular "My Papa John, Ms. Karma, Ms. Pat........" I am probably forgetting some, but she loves us all.

Hi everyone.  I am working this morning on recording sermons from our church into digital files so we can put them up as a Podcast and link from our church website.  I have a lot to do.

Had a good day yesterday and met all my appointment on time.  I was really tired when I got home and even after a nap was tired last evening and went to bed right after getting home from choir practice.  Most of our choir seems to have decided to take a week off as we had very few turn out for practice.

Nards, happy birthday.  It sounds like Kristi wanted to get an early start on your birthday celebration.  :)

Etta Sue, enjoyed the devotional this morning.  It points out the obvious thing that so many miss or refuse to accept that Jesus is the only way.  He is the truth and the life.

Janet, it sounds like Darrel is in for a wonderful weekend.

I have so much to do today, including going to Calvin Cove this afternoon, that I had better get busy.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good Morning Thank you Etta sue for the devotional this morning.

Joanne's memorial is this afternoon so I will be going to that. Leroy is having some really bad days so please keep him in prayer.

We are having some great Bible Studies lately. Last week was "The Power of the Shout" this week was "The Power of the Seed"  Our Church is in need of $50,000 to do some much needed repairs, a roof etc. There has been a committee formed to see about getting a loan. But part of the lesson last night was that our own people need to plant the seed in to our own church instead of into a big ministry some place else.

We just had a group of 16 youth go to  a youth camp and raised $4,000  for them to attend. So  I think it is only right that we should try to be debt free and sow into our our church for the repairs. we are a small church with only 54 Members and a few others. Last Sunday with more members of the church families attending we had 104 people. Small Right.

OK That's enough for now.

Happy Birthday Nards.......and, many more.....

It is a beautiful spring day and flowering trees are in full bloom - achoo & headaches for me.  I went to the pool exercise today and then sat and talked with a much younger gal for almost an hour.  No wonder Don wants me to go in the 2nd car by myself on pool days.

Smokeythedog:  I suppose your dog is named Smokey.  What bright eyes.  Thank you for info on the walk.  I have heard of these & have Episcopalian friends who have gone through these walks.  It sounds comforting.

Janet:  Really, it would be good to get away from all the outside interference and put our minds on what we believe.

Marilyn;  I am all for keeping the spending in the church on a realistic level - I pray that your church will be able to raise the money.

Larry:  Some days are just that - tiring all day.  Take care.

Carol

Pat ~ I got your animation slowed down after it spells out Christian Photographers.  I will email it to you.  (If'n I don't forget.  If'n I do, remind me!!)

Nards!!
I really think this would be a great occasion for cake and ice cream, don't you?

Janet ~ I have never been on an Emmaus Walk but several in my neighborhood and at my church has been.  Have heard great results from it.  Then others say it is like a Sorority...have to be asked, closed in and urged to help with other walks.  Don't know...just passing along what I have heard.

1Co 13:1  I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell.
1Co 13:2  I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move mountains---but if I have no love, I am nothing.
1Co 13:3  I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned ---but if I have no love, this does me no good.
1Co 13:4  Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud;
1Co 13:5  love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs;
1Co 13:6  love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth.
1Co 13:7  Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail.
1Co 13:8  Love is eternal. There are inspired messages, but they are temporary; there are gifts of speaking in strange tongues, but they will cease; there is knowledge, but it will pass.
1Co 13:9  For our gifts of knowledge and of inspired messages are only partial;
1Co 13:10  but when what is perfect comes, then what is partial will disappear.
1Co 13:11  When I was a child, my speech, feelings, and thinking were all those of a child; now that I am an adult, I have no more use for childish ways.
1Co 13:12  What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face-to-face. What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete---as complete as God's knowledge of me.
1Co 13:13  Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love.

This is only to remind us that these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is LOVE  <3

Good day to all at Cp.
It is a foggy and rainy day here again today -I'm sure its  got to pass :)
Great devotional today
I am excited with how thwe Lord is moving across the world.
The lord has told us in His word I will pour out my Spiriit on all flesh -your sons and daughters will prohecy -your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see visions and on your handmaidens and your servants I will pour out of my Spirit.
This is a great day to serve the Lord. Not a day to be discouraged or defeated but a day to arise and shine for the Lord.

Marilyn

Vernon how ironic that you should post that particular passage of 1 Corinthians. I was just at a memorial service where that was the passage that was read and the decedents favorite portion of scripture. Thank you for the reminder.

Pat How is Geordie? Is he better? Did you see my post about going over to the Animal Talk section of SN when it is back up and post a message to the pets there from Geordie? Also we are way over the 1000 mark there.

Hi Marilyn...

I must go and start a new discussion over at SN if it's over the 1000 mark.

Geordie is a little better.  He's eating on his own now but still very weak but obviously doing better.  He's had 4 of his 22 pills so they are working.

Good Day to all at c.p.   Well so many wonderful things have happened since I was last on C.P.  My new job that i got is very physical and some days very long but thanks to Lord for it.

The Lord has also done something else the first job that I wanted at the medical supply company has opened up again because of a shuffel within the company. Last Friday they called me and asked me to come for an interview to see if I was still interested so I went and as far as I know I have the job but have not got an answer.  So tomorrow I go out with the driver whos run I will take over so praise the Lord.

God works in  ways that we will never understand and I am so thankful to those who introduced to the Saviour.

Well, Darrel was picked up at about 5:30, so is now on his Walk to Emmaus!  :)  I hope he gets richly blessed while there.

Melody, I appreciate your encouraging message so much.  Thanks!

I am more than weary, after two nights with a total of about 4 hours' sleep.  So I'm heading to bed shortly.

Busy day planned for tomorrow, may not get in here.  But I will try!  :)

Goodnight all, pleasant dreams!

nards said thanks for all the birthday wishes!!  he is very tired right now -- working long hours and tonight we were going to go out for his birthday, and Travis really thought that he needed to go to Chuck E. Cheese's to celebrate. :)  Of course, when I asked the trav what we should get Daddy for his birthday, he said a real motorcycle.  And one for him, too, of course. :)

Hope everyone is ready for a wonderful Friday.

Pat, so glad to read that Geordie is doing a bit better.  May he continue. . .

love to you all!
