Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

The Flowering Chameleon

"'So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.'"
Matthew 6:28-29

What color is the scarlet gilia? Well, that depends on where and when it's blooming. Despite its name, the scarlet gilia can be red, pink, and even white.

Near sea level, the flowers remain red all season. This is because the flower is pollinated throughout the summer by hummingbirds who are drawn to the red flowers. However, at higher elevations, the hummingbirds leave as summer moves into August. As they leave, the plants change their red flowers to pink and later, white flowers.

The higher elevation plants change over to white flowers because they have a new pollinator. As the hummingbird population decreases, hawkmoths take over. During this transition, the flower produces pink blossoms as it invites both of its pollinators. Once the hummingbirds are gone, the hawkmoth takes over. The hawkmoths pollinate at night so they prefer white flowers because they are easier to see in the dark. Scientists were amazed by the fact that the color changes take place exactly when pollination shifts from hummingbird to moth. As one startled scientist put it, these plants cannot be considered passive in their environment.

Who taught the scarlet gilia when and how to change the color of its flowers? Who taught it that hummingbirds will be attracted to red flowers? Or that hawkmoths will be attracted to white flowers? The scarlet gilia may be clever, but only our all-wise Creator could have given this knowledge and ability to the plant.

Prayer: Dear Father, I thank You that the wisdom with which You designed the creation is there for all to see. As I strive against the world's denial of Your intimate involvement in Your creation, help me to see more clearly that the creation is Yours and that it glorifies You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

((hugs)) to all!

Etta Sue

I got a call from the hospital yesterday morning saying Jerry had taken a turn for the worse.  I went down and his breathing was very labored, is BP was low, and no outtake.  His white blood count was 44,000.  So Jerry had contacted a full blown infection of some kind.  From the day before at 2 p.m. till 10 a.m. yesterday, he was as different as night and day.  I had called Lynn and she came to the hospital.  The doctor told us that she didn't expect him to make it through the afternoon.  So he was made comfortable with morphine and adavan.

Jerry went to be with our Father in Heaven at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28.  Please be in prayer for Lynn and Jerry Lee and their families.  Jerry Lee and his family came from Pittsburg but was about 15 minutes too late.

I will be back tomorrow with more details.

God Bless All of You for your prayers and concerns for Jerry in this 7-week home-going.

Etta Sue

Pat...will you copy the above and post on Photos~Then and Now on SrNet for me?  I can't seem to get on SrNet at this time and I am going with the kids to the funeral home in the morning.

Thank you!

Etta Sue ... I am saddened to learn of Jerry's homegoing but, at the same time, know that he is at peace and out of pain.  My prayers are with you and the family at this time of loss and grief.  Our Father always knows best even when we are confused and hurting... He will make all things beautiful in His time.

His Master's Crib

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider" (Isaiah 1:3).

What an indictment this is-not only against the people of Israel, but against men and women everywhere. All were created and made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27) for fellowship with Him, but even His own chosen people rejected Him, and most people everywhere all but ignore Him in their daily lives.

"Crib" is the same as "manger," and when God became man, His human parents "laid Him in a manger" (Luke 2:7), as there was no room for Him anywhere else. The animals knew Him, and so did the angels, but His people were unconcerned. "He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not" (John 1:10).

When He came into Jerusalem offering Himself as King of Israel, He rode on an unbroken colt, "whereon yet never man sat," and the little "foal of an ass" (Luke 19:30; Zechariah 9:9) willingly submitted, knowing his divine Master and Maker. But the people of Jerusalem as a whole joined in clamoring for His crucifixion just a few days later.

The indictment against Israel could be lodged with even greater justification against America today. "Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: . . . I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me" (Isaiah 1:2). The morals of our people seem to have been turned upside down, and God would say to us also: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness" (Isaiah 5:20).

Yet-in modern America, as well as in ancient Israel-"as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name" (John 1:12). HMM

Too often I have taken for granted the things of this earth.  It takes a devotion such as todays to cause me to stop/pause and think of such things....like the hummingbird.....and the scarlett gilla

God said it best:  "Where were you when I created this, hung the stars in place, gave you this tree for shade...." McMurray paraphrase

Thanks Pat for the reminder that He made everything, nothing new is ever discovered it is just 'found"

I too am saddened by Jerry's passing.  But I too, like some of you brothers/sisters, am glad he was ready and that he is now at great peace.  I pray, Etta Sue, that you and Jerry's relatives will also experience some of the peace Jerry is experiencing now.  Oh remember that it can be had by trusting lin the Father's wisdom.  We absolutely must all keep our appointment with Him.  He alone knows the date and time.  The only useful thing we can do is to always be ready for that appointment.  If we are ready, then it's a blessed appointment, not at all a loss.  God grant you, Etta Sue, His comfort through knowledge that He cares.

Janet

Etta Sue.......(((((hugs))))) to you.  I'm so sorry about the loss of Jerry, but also glad that he is now with the Heavenly Father and will have no more pain, sorrow nor crying.  I will continue to pray for you and for Jerry's family as you adjust to this loss in your lives.

Hello Everyone

It has been a long time since I have been on but I have been very busy lately. Also my hard drive crashed and I had to buy a new one and reload everything.

I want to thank everyone for your loving concern for my wife and your prayers.  It was a real confort. Now for a update. Her surgery was finnally performed on Monday,April 8th. They were able to repair the mitral valve and they also did a quadruple bypass. Everything went well   She came home six days later. We went to the heart clinic last Wednesday and they said everything is progressing fine. She is getting better little by little. We see the cardiologist on May 9th and he will determine when she goes for cardiac rehab.

Paise the Lord.
Tom

The LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace." '

Hi everyone.

First of all, Etta Sue, Pat and I extend our deepest condolences to you, who has lost a wonderful friend, and to Jerry's family.  These are tough times for those who love the person and even though we know the Lord knows best what was needed to heal Jerry it is still hard to give up someone we love.  I am sure you will be a comfort to Jerry's family and that they recognize what your devotion to him has meet during these last several years.

Tom, certainly glad to see that your wife finally had her surgery and is progressing nicely.  I certainly hope she has a full recovery.

Pat, that was a another very interesting devotional this morning.  I am always in awe when I watch nature programs.  One of the local ministers is heard on the radio hear and I have heard him say he just doesn't have enough faith to be an atheist.  How could all of these wonderful things have happened by chance.  Sure makes one think.

Janet, glad you were able to see Abby's school performance and spend some time with Mark.  I understand from talking with my sister-in-law in Kansas City that it is pretty chilly in your part of the country.  It is above 70 here today and very nice.  Pat has the house open.

Marilyn, that was a lovely graphic you have above.  So peaceful looking.

I was able to get my older car to the garage today but haven't heard anything from them.  Fortunately my newer car has started each time today and I am confident we can make the trip to the doctor on Monday in it.

I spoke with the heart translant coordinator this afternoon and she said she has all the information she needs now except for the results of the test I did yesterday afternoon.  The next step is to submit my case to the Kaiser review board and then if they concur get the medical director to signoff and it will go to the National Transplant Center in Maryland who would then be contacting the hospital in Alabama.  So now it is just a matter of waiting.  She said it would probably take a week for the first review.

We are awaiting the arrival of the installer for our new microwave.  He called a little bit ago and said when he went to pick it up at the store they didn't have it so he had to go to another location.  He should be here anytime.  We sure have missed not having it to use the last few days.

I guess I need to check out the bowling game.  I just haven't had the time yet but was never a very good bowler.  Need to know what you all are talking about.

Etta Sue

Another long day.  Lynn, Jerry Lee and I went to the Funeral home today.  There will be a viewing Sunday afternoon with the funeral following at 3 p.m.  Afterwards will be cremation.  Lynn and Jerry Lee plan to have a Memorial Service in Ohio later and also find out if the cemetery where their Mother is buried allows cremation urns to be buried above their Mother's casket.  Their Dad's request was cremation so this is the way to go for him.

Lynn and Jerry Lee are doing real well.  I am, too.  We are selfish.  We don't want our loved ones to leave us even though they are in a beautiful, calm, loving place with mansions built just for them.  But I rest in the knowledge...and the promise from God...that we will meet again in Heaven.  How awesome is that?

I may be scarce in the next few days but I will be back....

Etta Sue

How dumb of me.....thank you all for your kind, loving words.  I am running on low for intelligence right now.  Hope it returns after some much needed rest and sleep.

Janet

Bless your heart, Etta Sue, we all understand!  Just do what needs doing and come back when you can.  (((hugs)))

We are about to get "all gussied up" for the SecondAnnual Senior Citizens Prom, which is tonight.  I called for more information and they said not to dress up too much, just be comfortable, since the weather is so cold today.  We haven't danced since this occasion last year, so I know we are rusty!

Larry, thank you for telling us the steps involved in qualifying for a heart transplant.  It is very interesting, but I wish it weren't necessary for you.  You are such a dear man, and I wish you the very best outcome in all of this.  Glad Pat is progressing well, too.

Tom, it is good to hear that your wife's surgery is now past, and I hope her recovery is going really well.  Good to hear from you again!

I gotta run!

Etta Sue, I also offer my condolances and a hug.

Tom, it was nice to have a but of good news about your wife.

Larry, I pray that all goes well with your transplant process.  Knowing someone who has had a transplant (not heart), and the related problems afterward, I know that this has not been an easy decision for you.

I worked all day at the store today, and am tired, so will visit the games area, and then log off and relax in front of the TV for the night with my crochet, knitting or cross stitching, or a combination of all the three.  I have many projects to choose from.

ps.   There are many that I've missed hearing or "seeing" from, Papa John, Mieka, Chris, Margit, Jenny to name a few.  A big HELLO to all of you!

Carol

Etta Sue:  My sympathy to you and to all of Jerry's family.  His bright notes will be missed.

Larry:  I will keep you and Pat in my prayers especially while you are awaiting news in the next week.

Tom:  Good that you stopped by to say hello and give us the news that your wife is recuperating so well.

Carol

Ruth

Etta Sue:  My sympathy to you and the family. Jerry will be missed by all who knew him.
