JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus Warns about Worry
Luke 12:22-48  NLT

     22Then turning to his disciples, Jesus said, "So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. 23For life consists of far more than food and clothing. 24Look at the ravens. They don't need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! 25Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Of course not! 26And if worry can't do little things like that, what's the use of worrying over bigger things?

    27"Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 28And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won't he more surely care for you? You have so little faith! 29And don't worry about food--what to eat and drink. Don't worry whether God will provide it for you. 30These things dominate the thoughts of most people, but your Father already knows your needs. 31He will give you all you need from day to day if you make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.

    32"So don't be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.

    33"Sell what you have and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven have no holes in them. Your treasure will be safe--no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. 34Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.

    35"Be dressed for service and well prepared, 36as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. 37There will be special favor for those who are ready and waiting for his return. I tell you, he himself will seat them, put on an apron, and serve them as they sit and eat! 38He may come in the middle of the night or just before dawn.  But whenever he comes, there will be special favor for his servants who are ready!

    39"Know this: A homeowner who knew exactly when a burglar was coming would not permit the house to be broken into. 40You must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected."

    41Peter asked, "Lord, is this illustration just for us or for everyone?"

    42And the Lord replied, "I'm talking to any faithful, sensible servant to whom the master gives the responsibility of managing his household and feeding his family. 43If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. 44I assure you, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns. 45But if the servant thinks, `My master won't be back for a while,' and begins oppressing the other servants, partying, and getting drunk-- 46well, the master will return unannounced and unexpected. He will tear the servant apart and banish him with the unfaithful. 47The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it.

    48"But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given.

Do you feel worried or hopeful when you think about the future?  Why?

     Seeking the Kingdom of God means making Jesus the Lord and King of your life.  He must control every area--your work, play, plans, relationships.

     Is the Kingdom only one of your many concerns, or is it central to all you do?

     Are you holding back any areas of your life from God's control?

     As Lord and Creator, he wants to help provide what you need as well as guide how you use what he provides.

What a lazy day I have had and it was very enjoyable.

I will try again to get Ali into the carrier in the morning.  If she still refuses, then so be it!  I think she is fine and healthy now.

I hope everyone has a great night of resting!

Janet, I don't want to actually be in control of the aircraft like Mark is. I want to be a flight medic/RN. I want to run mediflights fixed wing maybe a few choppers. I know that once i get out of college though my education in specializations of emergency care will never stop because the medical field is constantly changing and the more that is learned about the human body the more it changes. However if i want to fly i have to 1. lose weight and get into shape again and also i have to build my knee and shoulder back up to be able to stand the different atmospheric pressures and strains of the job so i still have 3 to 4 years of working with that before i can really start into getting up in the skies to work. anyways sounds like everyone here is just as busy as i am its now like 1 and i think i am just about ready to start a new school week. so i will talk to you later cuz i'm going to get some MUCH needed sleep!
Sarah

Janet

YAWN!  :-\  I've been up since 3:30 again, and now that it is time to be up, I am sleepy..  They put information on the screen in the plane coming home that said it takes you one day for each time zone you cross to get your body back to normal again.  So.....11 time zones = 11 days.  Whew!

I have a business appointment in Johnson this afternoon, other than that, nothing very pressing today.

Etta Sue, glad your furkid Ali is back to normal.  My little kitten will not let us come near her since we came home, but Dinah likes to be loved.

Thanks to the person who suggested unloading and reloading PSP to solve the problem.  I had wondered about that.  I'm such a chicken about messing with the computer, but will see what I can do.  It's so frustrating to have the program and not be able to use it.

I guess I will get myself dressed and ready to face the day, even though what I want is to take a nap!  :-[

Janet ~ I have a friend, Judy B, that works at WalMart and goes in at 10 p.m., Monday thru Thursday.  She is off Friday thru Sunday.  So half the week she sleeps during the day, then the rest of the week she sleeps at night.  I don't know how she does it.  Sounds like jet lag every week to me!

Sarah ~ We sure need more medical people like you...ones who go beyond their call of duty to serve mankind.  I never thought about the atmospheric pressures and such.  Just know that if that is what you want to do, you will do it.  God Bless You.

I tried again to get Ali in the carrier.  No way!  I just hope she hasn't lost trust in me.  She was letting me hold her and pet her.  Now when I come near, she runs.   :'(  Now she wants her Pounce treats and the vet says she is to only have her UTI cat food.   :-\

There was lightening in the sky when I went to bed but no rain yet.  Cloudy and overcast here today.  A great day to read a book!

Good Morning I thought  had better post now before I get busy and forget.

Good devotional  Etta Sue . No worries here.

I will be off and running this morning I am taking Jan to Eureka to target to do some shopping and I am doing some too. I want to get that Microwave kitchen cart so I can  get my appliances all in one place instead of on my kitchen table and the counter. My counter is so small anyway.

Then this evening I am going to a free Blues and 50"s Rock N Roll concert at the Senior Center. Last week only 53  people showed up (I didn't ) to support the Senior Center Directors efforts and getting some community activities started here in McKinleyville. I told her I would be there tonight.

Have a great day everyone!

Well, it's Thursday, so Marbeth goes to her "Katie's Krafters" today.  It's a quilting group that makes quilts, small and large and also lap robes.  Several of the things are made to be sold at the hospital gift shop, but some are made to be given away at nursing care centers.  In a few cases, individuals buy things too.

While she goes there I go over to "Sacred Grounds" (a local coffee shop where all the college young people go to study).  Then, when the Katie's Krafters gets done around 11, I will go back over to the Sr. Center (where the Krafters are) and we'll have lunch today, 'cause they're having crab louis today.

Marilyn

Hey Al so you're hangin' out with the college kids and school hasn't started yet or has it? Just kidding Al I know that is your favorite place for Tea or Coffee whatever you are in the mood for and It is thursday, The North Coast Journal comes out today. See I remember. I drink Sacred Grounds coffee here at home.

Etta Sue, your devotional this morning is a good reminder to all of us.  As I read it this morning, I couldn't help but be reminded of the parable of the talents.  We don't know the timing of His return, but we know He will.  Am I ready, Lord?  Have I used what you've entrusted to me wisely?  Guide me, O Lord, for I am Your servant.
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Carl, after your little post, I'm singing this so thought I'd share it with all.

Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah
(Click to hear music)

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel,
and afterward receive me to glory.
Psalm 73:24

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim thro' this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy pow'rful hand;
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more,
Feed me till I want no more.

Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through;
Strong Deliv'rer, strong Deliv'rer,
Be Thou still my strength and shield,
Be Thou still my strength and shield.

When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell's destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan's side;
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to Thee,
I will ever give to Thee.

Hello all!

Welcome TonyP!  Fun group here.  Nice and relaxed (well, sorta. :P)

Kristi had her 18 mos check up today.  Everything was good.  No problems.  She wasn't happy about the shot, but she only had to have one, and now, no more until she is 4.  (YEAH!)

I hope all is going well for each of you.  It's almost Friday!!!!!!!

What a wonder morning devotional.  My Pastor preached on Luke 12:22-31 last night.  One of my favorite passages, but so hard to be true to.  I'm usually busy trying to do things my way!  Hope everyone have a nice evening.  Ray

Hi everyone.  Interesting postings today.  I see folks are busy.  This has been a quiet day for me.  I went to coffee and then stopped at the grocery for a few items and then to the hardware store.  I have been working on the computer projects I have, including finally getting a second printer to work that I want to use for everyday printer.  I can get very inexpensive ink for it so will gave me good printer for cards and things I want in higher quality.  This second printer is the one I was using when I got my new computer and the new printer.  I will try to print something on the good one everyday or so to avoid the print heads from drying out.  It is not good for a printer to sit unused for long period of time as the print heads dry up.

Janet, just go to Start, Control Panel and Add/Remove Program.  When that screen fills in find the PSP program and click on the remove button.  If you are asked if you want to save your settings say yes (although I don't remember that you can do that in PSP.)  It is a good idea to reboot your computer and then put the PSP program disk in the CD drive and it should start automatically and just click on the Install PSP.  If you don't used the Animation there is no reason to go ahead and install it.  I am sure Etta Sue probably uses the Animation program but I never have so don't install it anymore.  You should be in good shape.  If you need help just call me and I will be glad to walk you through the process.

TonyP, welcome to CP.  We are glad to have you join us.

Al, Marbeth's group sounds very much like the one my wife participates in although hers meets at the church and they usually donate the quilts they make.  Our church is one of 18 churches sponsoring a wonderful program called "Family Promise" where a homeless mother and children are housed and fed at our church.  We host for a week several times a year.  They also donated some quilts to the Hurricane Katrina victims through a church in Mississippi.  The son of one of the members there goes to our church.

Well it is about time to say goodnight.  Think I will go out to get something to eat and then have something to attend this evening.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional.

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a
pole which she carried across her neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and
always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk
from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home
only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud
of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and
miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the
woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack
in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your
side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have
always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of
the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."
"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to
decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would
not be this beauty to grace the house."
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we
each have that make our lives together so very interesting and
rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and
look for the good in them.
So, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to
smell the flowers on your side of the path!
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Marilyn

I have read that before Carl but thanks for the reminder and for sharing it here.
I am out of here shortly to go to the Senior Center.

Hi, friends,

I just got in from having dinner with my daughter and her boyfriend. We ate at a very interesting restaurant called the Acquarium - there are 2 huge tanks that go from floor to ceiling and have hundres of fish, sharks, and rays swimming in them. It makes it so relaxing to watch them as you dine - and our table was very close to one of the acquariums.

Y'all have a good evening.

Ruth Ann

Nice to see you, Ruth Ann.  Glad you had a lovely meal with your daughter.

I've been out doing a few errands with my granddaughter.  Had a nice time and then we sat and watched a lovely sunset.

Please welcome our new folks in the Introductions area.  We have another new fellow called Tivvyphotos  He's also a member on Photography Cafe so it's nice to have them.

Ruth Ann, that does sound lovely.  Of course, I might be wanting to get into the tank and swim with them!  ;)

I am still dragging along.  I kept falling asleep in my recliner, so decided to see what has been posted in here today.  I can barely keep my eyes open, but hate to go to bed this early.

Larry, thank you SO much for the instructions on removing and re-installing PSP.  And if I run into problems, I will take you up on your kind offer of help.  You're a peach!  ;)

Ohenry, I'm so glad the Lord uses cracked pots, too.  Praise His name.

I enjoyed reading the devotional and found it to be comforting

I had 3 Paper Tole pictures that needed framing so took them to the framer and I understand that they will be ready in a couple of weeks.
Following that on my way home I stopped at the Christian Book Store to have a look around.  I then was going to stop at my Chrio's but he was not going to be in so I just came on home.  Later I cooked some rhubarb sauce kept enough for dinner and put the remainder in 2 jars to have later on.

Have a good nights rest   Ruth
