JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Carol: My husband Don is with the angels.....Our family was able to hold  ourselves together for the last moments.  Juar rhoufhr you might want to know. 2022-04-29, 23:35:15

Morning Devotional...

Real Spirituality versus Unreal Spirituality
Luke 11:33-54  NLT

33"No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. Instead, it is put on a lampstand to give light to all who enter the room. 34Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. 35Make sure that the light you think you have is not really darkness. 36If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight is shining on you."

37As Jesus was speaking, one of the Pharisees invited him home for a meal. So he went in and took his place at the table. 38His host was amazed to see that he sat down to eat without first performing the ceremonial washing required by Jewish custom. 39Then the Lord said to him, "You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are still filthy--full of greed and wickedness! 40Fools! Didn't God make the inside as well as the outside? 41So give to the needy what you greedily possess, and you will be clean all over.

42"But how terrible it will be for you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest part of your income, but you completely forget about justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but you should not leave undone the more important things.

43"How terrible it will be for you Pharisees! For how you love the seats of honor in the synagogues and the respectful greetings from everyone as you walk through the markets! 44Yes, how terrible it will be for you. For you are like hidden graves in a field. People walk over them without knowing the corruption they are stepping on."

45"Teacher," said an expert in religious law, "you have insulted us, too, in what you just said."

46"Yes," said Jesus, "how terrible it will be for you experts in religious law! For you crush people beneath impossible religious demands, and you never lift a finger to help ease the burden. 47How terrible it will be for you! For you build tombs for the very prophets your ancestors killed long ago. 48Murderers! You agree with your ancestors that what they did was right. You would have done the same yourselves. 49This is what God in his wisdom said about you: `I will send prophets and apostles to them, and they will kill some and persecute the others.'

50"And you of this generation will be held responsible for the murder of all God's prophets from the creation of the world-- 51from the murder of Abel to the murder of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, it will surely be charged against you.

52"How terrible it will be for you experts in religious law! For you hide the key to knowledge from the people. You don't enter the Kingdom yourselves, and you prevent others from entering."

53As Jesus finished speaking, the Pharisees and teachers of religious law were furious. From that time on they grilled him with many hostile questions, 54trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him.

Who has noticed light in your life recently?

Jesus criticized the Pharisees harshly because they

(1)  washed their hands but not their hearts,

(2)  remembered to tithe but forgot justice,

(3)  loved people's praise,

(4)  made impossible religious demands, and

(5)  would not accept the truth about Jesus and prevented others from believing as well.

They went wrong focusing on outward appearances and ignoring the inner condition of their hearts.

We do the same when our service is motivated by a desire to be seen rather than by a pure heart and love for others.  Others may be fooled, but God isn't.

Don't be a Christian on the outside only.  Bring your inner life under God's control; then your outer life will naturally reflect him.

We had a wonderful time being Red Hat Ladies for lunch.  Afterwards we went to a little gift shop.  Looking was fun!

Kitty is coming tomorrow and bringing her husband's GPS...like my old one.  I am going to update it and put some maps in it for him.  He has never had detailed streets in it...just major highways and interstates.  He is going to be surprised what his little GPS will do.

Hey, Rob.  I see you were on NEM for yesterday.  Hope I didn't bonk you on the head!

Sorry about that if I did.  Sure hope you find your way here!!

Hi everyone.  I will post here this morning before I go to coffee.  It is suppose to be cooler here today and we should have some rain this afternoon, but they don't think it will be in the form of heavy storms.  All of this will be most welcome.

Etta Sue, thanks for the devotional today.  Aren't we fortunate that we don't have to try to meet every detail of every law but have Jesus Christ as our interceder.  On the GPS front I didn't do anything with mine yesterday but plan to load a number of addresses today.  It will hold the last 50 put in it.  I was surprised that I was able to put in all the maps and streets for the 48 lower states rather than just some of them.  Glad I got the large memory chip as still have some room on it.  Since I won't be driving to Alaska or Hawaii I saw no reason to put them in the GPS.

Ohenry, I know several people who say they can't carry a tune or that no one would want to hear them sing.  I also know some people who have no ear for music.  Our choir director is amazing and has perfect pitch.  I am not amazing and don't have perfect pitch but I do love to sing in the choir and this director gets so much out of us and we learn so much from her.  She has sung all over the world and was a soloist with the Atlanta Symphony Chorus for many years.  She now signs in the Chorus.

Nita, wish we could hear the results of the recording.  I am sure it is very beautiful.

Rob, I need to check out some of the photos and will look for yours.

I love the blackberry taste but sure don't like the seeds.  So I will have a piece of that cyber pie like Ruth Ann.

Hi Nards and all who have or will post today.  God is blessing each of us today even in the difficulties we face.

Time for coffee.  Till tomorrow.

Good morning!  Etta, looks like you were up kinda late last night!

I've got to get me a new GPS; I want a Magellan, and I want it before we go on vacation this year.  Whenever THAT is :)

Gotsta git to work.  I hope all of you have a Jesus filled day!
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Check out my blog at www.bernardshuford.com.

Ahhh...the Pharisees...let us not forget the Sadducees either.  For the Pharisees believed in an afterlife and the Sadducees did not.......which was why they were sad, you see.

Good morning, my friends.  As you go through your day today, may His footsteps lead you.
Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Hey, Everyone!  ;)

It's another great day the Lord has made, and isn't it wonderful to know that without a doubt because of the everyday testimony of the Holy Spirit who dwells within each one of us!

We're not too hot so far today here in Ashland, Ohio. Supposed to be cooler than a lot of the country here. I feel for everyone where it's once again in the 90s and 100 degree heat wave range. PHEWW! My brother, Rob, and his family live down in Yellville, Arkansas, and they are in that souther sweatbox situation. Must make everone in the ville to yell: "Enough already!"  :o

A question: I'd like to discuss more about what I've shared before in my Newcomers Introduction, to give more detail about the publication and entertainment studios I'm working toward staring up and running. Where should I post this more detailed information? Should I post it as "Start Topic" or where is the best place to post it?

Good Morning. Steve Welcome to CP. I can't answer your question I don't know where to post it either.  Maybe we should have a thread for asking questions. Hey Pay what do you think about another new thread.

I am working for Jan this morning, when I get home I am going to work some more on my quilt. I am still sewing 3" squares together in two's then in four's. I will probably have to cut more, Yesterday my neighbor brought me one of those cutting board that are used with the rotary cutters. I also ordered on.

Fed EX brought e my new full length leather coat yesterday. I ordered in about a weeks ago from Leathercoatsetc.com

I mowed yesterday too and then watered both yards it took about 4½ hours  to get it wet enough to soak in.

No fog so far today but no sun either. Aw the glories of living her on the North Coast of California  :)  and not in the Mojave desert anymore.  ;)

I've just come in from a boring meeting at Guelph City Hall.  So glad to get out of there.

Steve, we have an area called "General Chat" in our forums where we suggest that you can chat about anything and you can click on "Start Topic" in there.  How does that sound?

For those of you who haven't read Jack's devotionals before (the new ones here), I've been reading the ones he wrote on Psalm 23 so I think we'll share them for a few days starting in tomorrow's New Every Morning.

Hope that those of you who have read them won't mind.
