Morning Devotional...

Pr 11:9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered. Pr 11:11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. Pr 11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Keep your mouth shut when:

In the heat of anger:
Pr 14:17 He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

You dont have all the facts:
Pr 18:13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.

Tempted to joke about sin:
Pr 14:9 Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.

Ashamed of your words later:
Pr 18:8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

You want to appear wise:
Pr 17:28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

It would destroy a friendship:
Pr 16:28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

It would destroy a reputation:
Pr 16:27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

When you may have to eat your words later:
Pr 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

It's time to listen:
Pr 13:1 A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

When you should be working instead, and when there will be ALL talk and NO do!:
Pr 14:23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

What a GREAT start today with that devotional, Sonja! :) :)

I copied this to give to church secretary for our bulletin next Sunday.

THANKS SONI!   Thanks for giving me the night off!  Wonderful thoughts in today's devotional!

Hi Kathy!

Here's a giggle for this morning...

The crumbling, old church building needed remodeling, so the preacher made an impassioned appeal, looking directly at the richest man in town. At the end of the message, the rich man stood up and announced, "Pastor, I will contribute $1,000."

Just then, plaster fell from the ceiling and struck the rich man on the shoulder. He promptly stood again and shouted, "Pastor, I will increase my donation to $5,000."

Before he could sit back down, plaster fell on him again, and again he virtually screamed, "Pastor, I will double my last pledge."

He sat down, and an larger chunk of plaster fell hitting him on the head. He stood once more and hollered, "Pastor, I will give $20,000!"

This prompted a deacon to shout, "Hit him again, Lord! Hit him again!"

Welcome to My Dear friend Carol (Cazann)So glad you found your way sister.

                 Happy Birthday to Carol

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.

After a good night's sleep am feeling better this morning in terms of being tired.  We had a nice evening as went to a restruarant that features Greek and Italian food.  We all opted for Italian and the meal was very good.  The had two musicians playing traditional Greek music on stringed instrucments.  It wasn't too loud and thus was most enjoyable.  It didn't drown out conversation.

We then came home and played Euchre and the men beat the women in all of the 5 games we played.

Sonja, thanks for the devotional thoughts.  I find such wisdom in the Proverbs.

Pat, did you get your computer back yesterday?

Janet, that is a lot of weight to lose in one week but know that is a big boost in starting on that effort.

Jenny and Pat, that "hug" was very nice.  Jenny, didn't realize that Carol was your friend.  I am glad she has joined us here.

Happy Birthday, Carol.

I have a number of things I need to work on today so guess I had better not spend all morning writing here.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
CAROL !!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Etta Sue

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,

CAROL!!

I had a very enjoyable evening spent with my classmate from high school.  We came back here after the fish fry and looked at our old annual.  She was telling me where a lot of the classmates live.  To think that for years I have been driving by their homes and didn't know it.  Mind boggling!!!

Today I am hoping the sun dries the dew so I can get out there and mow the grass.  Then I want to clean up and go to a reunion.  Funny, I worked with this girl for almost 20 years.  I met all her siblings...four in all...and her parents.  Even went to this reunion years ago.  Then about 5 years ago I found out that they are descendants from my grandfather's oldest sister.  So we are related!!!!!

Then Jerry is coming over and we are going to try one more time to get his rebate for his monitor.  And of course, another Fish Fry tonigh, this time at our local Lion's Club.

So it is a busy day.

BTW, the groundhog stole the apple but didn't trip the trap.  Mieka, the groundhog won't be hurt....at least, not in the trap.  When I catch him, I am to call the trap man.  He will take the groundhog.  I don't know what he will do with it.  If I don't ask, I won't know.  ::) All I know, is I don't want him digging under my foundation and eventually him get into my basement.  Would not like opening my door to the basement and come face to face with a groundhog.   :o

Have a God Blessed Day y'all!!!

We are doing some major cleaning today.  Not sure if I will be back on for awhile.

Etta Sue, a groundhog?  :-\ Wow, I bet the folks who own that grass land won't be happy about them either.  We have a bunch of those near Devils Tower Monument.  Cute, but they sure mess up the land.

Hope you all have a great day.

JESUS LOVES ME
(Click to hear music)

Jesus loves me, this I know,
Though my hair is white as snow.
Though my sight is growing dim,
Still He bids me trust in Him.

CHORUS
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
YES, JESUS LOVES ME
FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO.

Though my steps are oh, so slow,
With my hand in His I'll go.
On through life, let come what may,
He'll be there to lead the way.

CHORUS

Though I am no longer young,
I have much which He's begun.
Let me serve Christ with a smile,
Go with others the extra mile.

CHORUS

When the nights are dark and long,
In my heart He puts a song.
Telling me in words so clear,
"Have no fear, for I am near."

CHORUS

When my work on earth is done,
And life's victories have been won.
He will take me home above,
Then I'll understand His love

CHORUS

I love Jesus, does he know?
Have I ever told Him so?
Jesus loves to hear me say,
That I love Him every day.

CHORUS

Happy Birthday Carol

Hello everyone.  It has been a relaxing Saturday here in semi-rainy Minsk.  We can tell summer is over, it is getting dark now at 9pm, instead of the summertime 11:30-12.  Watched the Olympics for most of the day, put the finishing touches on my sermon for tomorrow, preaching on Micah 6:1-8.  I do love preaching from the Minor Prophets and watching people scramble in their Bibles trying to find the verses  ;D  I do try to help the people by telling them the page number in my Bible  :D

John, yes I'm from Milan, Tennessee which is just north of Jackson.  I have many many supporting churches in Nashville.  We'll have to meet when we come home for itineration in 2006.  It is hard to believe that our term is over halfway over here and have to soon start thinking about itineration and calling churches and scheduling services and all that fun stuff.
A watched clock never boils.

JudyB

I received this from a dear friend today.  Take the time to read it, you will be surprised at how true this is.

Satan's Meeting (Read it, even if you're busy, especially if you're
too busy).

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons. In his opening address he said, "We can't keep Christians from going to church. We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth. We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their savior. Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken. So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, but steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a real relationship with Jesus Christ."

"This is what I want you to do", said the devil.

"Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!

"How shall we do this?" his demons shouted.

"Keep them busy in the nonessentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds," he answered:

a. Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow.

b. Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.

c. Keep them from spending time with their children.  As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!

d. Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice.'

e. Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive...to keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-biblical music constantly. This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ.

f. Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers. Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day. Invade their driving moments with billboards. Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products, services and false hopes.

g. Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives.

h. Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night. Give them headaches too! If they don't give their husbands the love they need, they will begin to look elsewhere. That will fragment their families quickly!

i. Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas.

j. Give them an Easter bunny so they won't talk about his resurrection and power over sin and death.

k. Even in their recreation, let them be excessive...have them return from their recreation exhausted. Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God's creation. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead.

l. Keep them busy, busy, busy! And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, they will leave with troubled consciences.

m. Crowd their lives with so many good causes that they have no time to seek power from Jesus. Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause.

"It will work! It will work!!"

It was quite a plan! The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to have little time for their God or their families, and to have little or no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives. I guess the question is, has the devil been successful at his scheme?

You be the judge!--- Does "busy" mean: B-eing U-nder S-atan's Y-oke?
???

Evangelism: Too Easily Converted

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My
word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and
the truth shall make you free."
--John 8:31-32

First, we must consider the person who becomes a disciple of Christ
on impulse. This is likely to be the person who came in on a wave of
enthusiasm, and I am a little bit suspicious of anyone who is too
easily converted. I have a feeling that if he or she can be easily
converted to Christ, he or she may be very easily flipped back the
other way. I am concerned about the person who just yields, who has
no sales resistance at all....

Actually, I go along with the man or woman who is thoughtful enough
about this decision to say truthfully: "I want a day to think this
over," or "I want a week to read the Bible and to meditate on what
this decision means."

I have never considered it a very great compliment to the Christian
church that we can generate enthusiasm on such short notice. The less
there is in the kettle, the quicker it begins to boil. There are some
who get converted on enthusiasm and backslide on principle!
Faith Beyond Reason, pp. 55-57

"Lord, this is contrary to our usual thinking. We're aware of the
urgency of the hour, of the need to trust Christ before it is too
late. But thank You for this perspective on serious consideration
rather than flippant acquiescence. Amen."

The Dragonfly
=============

Once, in a little pond, in the muddy water under the lily pads,
there lived a little water beetle in a community of water
beetles.  They lived a simple and comfortable life in the pond
with few disturbances and interruptions.

Once in a while, sadness would come to the community when one of
their fellow beetles would climb the stem of a lily pad and
would never be seen again.  They knew when this happened; their
friend was dead, gone forever.

Then, one day, one little water beetle felt an irresistible urge
to climb up that stem.  However, he was determined that he would
not leave forever.  He would come back and tell his friends what
he had found at the top.

When he reached the top and climbed out of the water onto the
surface of the lily pad, he was so tired, and the sun felt so
warm, that he decided he must take a nap.  As he slept, his body
changed and when he woke up, he had turned into a beautiful
blue-tailed dragonfly with broad wings and a slender body
designed for flying.

So, fly he did!  And, as he soared he saw the beauty of a whole
new world and a far superior way of life to what he had never
known existed.

Then he remembered his beetle friends and how they were thinking
by now he was dead.  He wanted to go back to tell them, and
explain to them that he was now more alive than he had ever been
before.  His life had been fulfilled rather than ended.

But, his new body would not go down into the water.  He could
not get back to tell his friends the good news.  Then he
understood that their time would come, when they, too, would
know what he now knew.  So, he raised his wings and flew off
into his joyous new life!

But!  This only applies to born again beetles ok? ;)

Hi Pat.

I called in on the off chance to see if the party had started. ::) Another night maybe...Yes?

Nearly midnight over here and I guess I should be off to bed now.

Good night all.
God Bless.
Jenny.

Janet

Good evening!  I had a good day judging today, and also shopped for some of the things we need for Beth's party.  Darrel taught a Scuba class, was still in the water when I got back to town.  I was hot and tired, and boy, the water looked so inviting..........but I didn't get in, had to get home and unload the car and check on Beth.

Thank you to:  Papa John, Marilyn, Etta Sue and Jane..........your cards for Beth have arrived!!!  I'm getting excited about her birthday.  This will be one she will never forget!

GOD BLESS YOU ON YOUR BIRTHDAY, CAROL!!!

Anthony, where are you???

I am quite tired, so this will be short.  As someone said "if you don't have something to say, then don't say it!"   See y'all tomorrow!

It's absolutely wonderful to return home here to CP - to read all of yesterdays postings and to catch up on today's.

Let's see - Pat, a bunch of Tennesseans volunteered (I believe to help Andrew Jackson) fight a war, so that's how the entire state of Tennessee is nicknamed the Volunteer State.

Skief, when you come to see Papa John, you'll probably see me, too, since I also live in Nashville.

There were so many good posts, I'm afraid to try to mention them all by name.

But, y'all know I'm mighty thankful to be in this family of believers. Hugs to ALL my sisters and brothers.

Return unto thy rest, O my soul;
for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
Psalm 116:7

Author:  Jean S. Piogott, 19th Century
Musician:  James Mountain, 1843-1933

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

Refrain

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.

O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belov褬
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Refrain

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Refrain

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ?neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth?s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father?s glory,
Sunshine of my Father?s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

I am tired.  I mow the yard.  Showered.  Fixed a quck lunch for Jerry and I.  I drove to Greenfield to the reunion.  Met a lot of NEW cousins!  Most of them knew me but didn't know we were cousins.  Some I didn't know so I now have some new relatives and friends.  I came back home and then Jerry and I went to the Fish Fry.  I am so stuffed I think I am developing gills!  But it sure was good!!!

My eyes are tired and ready to go to bed and get some zzzzzzzz's!

Papa John

SKIEF, back in 1945 I was stationed in the Navy in Millington near Memphis.  Many times going home to Dickson I would pass through Milan.  When you come back are in Nashville we will have to get together for lunch and Ruth Ann who lives here can join us.

From 50States.com I found this, “Tennessee has had several nicknames, but the most popular is “The Volunteer State.” The nickname originated during the War of 1812, in which the volunteer soldiers from Tennessee, serving under Gen. Andrew Jackson, displayed marked valor in the Battle of New Orleans.”

During the War of 1812 Francis Scott Key wrote The Star Spangle Banner.  From infoplease.com I found this:  “On Sept. 13, 1814, Francis Scott Key visited the British fleet in Chesapeake Bay to secure the release of Dr. William Beanes, who had been captured after the burning of Washington, DC. The release was secured, but Key was detained on ship overnight during the shelling of Fort McHenry, one of the forts defending Baltimore. In the morning, he was so delighted to see the American flag still flying over the fort that he began a poem to commemorate the occasion. First published under the title “Defense of Fort M'Henry,” the poem soon attained wide popularity as sung to the tune “To Anacreon in Heaven.” The origin of this tune is obscure, but it may have been written by John Stafford Smith, a British composer born in 1750. “The Star-Spangled Banner” was officially made the national anthem by Congress in 1931, although it already had been adopted as such by the army and the navy.”

Enough history.  It is good to see everyone today.  Have a good Lord’s Day tomorrow.

Acts 20:7  On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.

Thought I would stop in to say hi while cleaning the house up.

We got the upstairs completely empty and ready to put a bed in there and have the girl's closet organized again.

We decided to make the downstairs the portrait studio.  So we have to tear out a closet wall and make 2 rooms into one long room.  I am excited.

I better get before Mike wonders where I am. :)

Hi, it is late but I have been outside most of the day.   One hydrangea was dying so I took it back and got another one free of charge.  I also replaced a vibernum for a Rose of Sharon bush.  It looks good because the flowers look like little carnations.  Can hardly wait to see it in full bloom.

My friend Sandra from Brazil is going back tomorrow.  She decided to go back and start again with immigration and hopefully she can come back soon.

Judy, love your post.   It is so true, the devil keeps us busy and stressed so much we don't lean on the Father.  Trying to lean more and trust Him more.

Hi Pat, hope you are doing good.   God Bless

Love Ruthie

Hi!
I had a very busy day..The girls did a good job with t he fashion show-Courtney our 11 year old won one of the bigger prizes..she got some school supplies and won a 11 dollar gift certificate for a local hair salon so, i used it to cut whitneys hair since Courtney just had her hair done. Then when we got home we had a big surprise that the kids have been trying to accomplish for about 8 months-one of their birds laid an egg-so they are all excited and looking forward to the days ahead lol-we decided to video each day and turn it into a science project for school..so thats what we are doing-we will be researching it too.
Anyway they are so excited its cute-Dear Husband said so much for not having anymore birds lol.
Im very tired-its been a busy day..
Blessings
Rachelle
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thy own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will direct thy paths.
