JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt.
Genesis 45:13

Fathers delight to hear of the accomplishments of their sons.

Imagine Jacob's excitement when he learned Joseph was now alive and second only to the mighty Pharaoh of Egypt. I wonder if his brothers first told of his kiss of forgiveness and the tears they all shed.

Did they tell him of his fine vestments, his ring of authority and the cry of the citizenry, "Bow the knee," as he passed by?

When we worship today, let us tell our Father of the glories of His Son and our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
--Arnot P. McIntee

Glory, glory everlasting, be to Him who bore the Cross,
Who redeemed our souls by tasting
Death, the death deserved by us! Spread His glory,
Who redeemed His people thus.

Good morning, all

Good Morning To Carl and Rob who have been here before me and Good Morning to all who will come after me.

This is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it.

This evening at 6PM we are having another  all church prayer meeting, this time at Abundant Life center (my church), I don't think "all" the
McKinleyville church's will be there but 7-8 will. Those pastors get together once a week to pray for the city and this is the second meeting of those in the congregations to gather too. Each month a different church is the host.

I pray you all have a great day in the Lord.

Be back later.

Those pictures that did well in the Oregon fair are indeed worthy!  They're great pictures!  I don't know which to mention, though, because they're all so good!  The hands holding the baby's feet is fantastic.  I'd give a prize to every one of those photos, though.

Fall is definitely here.  I've had to close all the windows at night now, and even then it's cool.  God bless us all today as we meet His people to worship Him.

Etta Sue

What great pictures, Sara!  My favorite is...uh, no! It's...let's see, I think it is...NO! ...Now I know...none are my favorites.  No, that's not right!  ALL are my favorites!  Awesome job and thanks for showing us your entries.

And I must have Old Timer's disease.  I forgot to say a big HELLO to Sarah of Oklahoma.  Glad you found your way back to the forum.  Are you in college?  Still an EMT?  Let us know how you are doing, Okay?

Ivalou and I went to my church last evening for a dinner and some great talks about my church 20 years ago through today and even a little about the plans for the future.  What great memories.  And church today was a simulcast between the two ministers...one was in the sanctuary, the other in the gym but you could see and hear the other minister on the overhead screen.  Since I didn't think the message would be any different for the second service, I left after the first service.  We all we given a key ring commemerating the 20th Anniversary of Park Chapel Christian Church but I passed on a piece of Birthday cake.  I had breakfast in a restaurant and come home.

Ali wouldn't eat her pill this morning so I stopped and got some canned cat food and put the pill in it.  She gobbled it down.  I sure will be glad when these 14 pills are gone.  I know...I might not have Ali if I hadn't taken her to the vet so I won't complain.  I will just love my two furkids all the more.  Thank God for my furkids.  What an awesome substitute for grandkids.

I know I shouldn't mow on Sunday but it is predicting rain and I haven't been home the last three days so today is the day I have to get on my mower and ride for 75 minutes and pray my soul out to God.

Hello, friends!  I'm baaaack!!  :) Did you miss me? ???

We got home yesterday morning, and I spent the day doing catch-up stuff; then last night we went to see a melodrama in which our son in law starred.  It was funny!  ;)  He seemed to be enjoying himself a lot, and I asked him if he'd missed his calling.

When we got home, I selpt so hard that when I got up in the night, I was wondering which hotel we were in, and which way was the bathroom?  I stumbled around in a fog for a few seconds, then realized OH!  We're HOME!  We woke up at 9 this morning, and made it to Sunday School. by 9:30.  Now Darrel is snoring away again, and I am going to join him as soon as I finish this post.

We had a wonderful, but tiring trip, saw, did, and learned so much about China.  I will share more later, when I can again think coherently.

It is good to be home, and I will go back and read all the messages as I find the time.

Janet,

It's so wonderful that you are back and can't wait to hear all about your trip!  I'm sure the others will say it also, but I missed you! :)

We've started a drama team at our church and Olivia is in it.  They performed last Sunday night but our pastor's wife was away on business, so they did it again Wednesday night.  Well, we have one gentlemen whose work is strange, (Rob, you know Cooper Tires schedule?!) and he missed both performances, so they will be doing it again, tonight. I must say I am soooo proud of Olivia, she is the youngest one of the kids on the team.I think back at how much  I prayed for children and now she is praising Him in this way!  I get choked up just thinking about it! Anyone else feel that way about their children?

God has been so good to us.  So more than we deserve, but I am most thankful.

We've been getting ready to start school up again.  Have got all our school books ordered and in, just waiting until after Labor Day.  Getting all the summer we can before starting up. I'm hoping to be more organized than I have been in the past. :crazy:

Hope everyone has a great day in the Lord.
Samantha

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Hey Carl,

No "squid" here.  Just a term I've heard used all my adult years.... probably picked it up from some of the ex-navy guys at work.

Pat...."rain locker" is an old navy term for shower.  "squid" is slang for sailors.

Speaking of navy terms, allow me to fill your head with some fairly useless trivia....

Everyone has probably heard the phrase "mind your p's and q's" but do you know the history of the phrase?  It stems from the old English Navy.  They served ale aboard the vessels in pints and quarts to the sailors, who were warned not to become intoxicated, hence "mind your pints and quarts" or now "mind your p's and q's"

And that ends today's useless trivia corner.

Carl, wished I had served in the military, but when the draft was looming and Vietnam was fired up, it was better for me to stay in school. I was right on the age gap that Vietnam was taling off, but the draft was still active. I think my draft number came up at 252 or something like that, so I just tried to keep my grades up.  ;)

My dad was P51 pilot in WWII. He flew in the Eyes of Patton's Third Army, as a recon pilot. Even dad wasn't for me going to Vietnam.  I sure thank all those that served during that war, especially those that gave their all for us. I'm just glad I avoided it.
God Bless, Rob

Sunday Funday

Here is a funny for all y-all:

A cowboy was herding his cows in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW roared out of a dust cloud towards him. The
driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the cowboy, "If I tell you exactly
how many cows and calves you have in your herd, will you give me a calf?"

The cowboy looks at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looks at his peacefully grazing herd and calmly answers, "Sure, Why not?"

The yuppie parks his car, whips out his Dell notebook computer, connects it to his Cingular RAZR V3 cell phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the
Internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite
that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. The young man then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image
processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data
stored.

He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, receives
a response.

Finally, he prints out a full-color, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer and finally turns to the cowboy and says,
"You have exactly 1,586 cows and calves."

"That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my calves," says the cowboy. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on
amused as the young man stuffs it into the trunk of his car.

Then the cowboy says to the young man, "Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your
business is, will you give me back my calf?"  The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?"

You're a Congressman in the U.S. Government", says the cowboy.

"Wow! That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?"

"No guessing required." answered the cowboy,  "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you wanted to get paid for an
answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You tried to show me how much smarter than me you are; and you don't know a
thing about cows...........................

Now give me back my dog"

Welcome home, Janet!  So glad to see you posting.

HAHAHA  That's a good one, Marilyn.

I never knew about P's & Q's, Carl!  I like little bits of trivia like that.

So, Rob, do you and Babycakes know each other?  :-\

I'll be back but I have to go and pick up Kathleen at 7:30.  She forgot that the buses didn't run after 5 on Sundays.

By the way, Carl has agreed to help out on our site with the Photography.  And I'm so happy he has.  Since Ritz has moved, he's been very busy with family and business and we've not had the pleasure of having him on the site much so Carl will be a great help.

Because He Lives
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by William J. Gaither
copyright 1971

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.
Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
Matthew 28:6

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to vict'ry,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

Just had to pop in for 2 things.  First, but not most important...thank you folks for the comments on the pictures.  I really appreciate it.

Second...not so cheerful.  My 4 year old cousin (she was adopted from China) may have Tourettes.  We are hoping it is something else, but don't know what else it could be.  The doctor didn't see any of the twitches and so told my aunt that she's probably doing it on purpose (which she wasn't) and wouldn't listen to her.  My aunt and her friend were watching her at dinner and she was doing this face spasm all through dinner where she'd sort of grimace like a lion (what my aunt said anyway) and she never knew she was doing it.

Hi Pat, no, I don't know Samantha, but we live only 40 minutes from each other.

I never did find out if Samatha knows my good friend, Mark Henry. He is from Belmont and his mom and dad still live there (if they are still living). I haven't talked to Mark in 6 months or more. What about it Samantha?

Wow Sarah...you're fast.  I was a freshman in 1969 and didn't become a junior until 1992 (yeah yeah...I know I'm slow )    ;D

Samantha, nice to see you again

Rob...I was in a similar situation.   Figured I was safer in a submarine than dodging bullets in a rice paddy.  Next thing I knew I had 20 years of service in.

Sara...that's sad news.  I'll lift her up in my prayers that the condition will be resolved or at least found.

I'm sure the life of a submariner is nowhere near as "romantic" as Tom Clancy has convinced us, because there are a lot of months of really boring patrol, I'm sure.  I think many of the guys on the boomers practically go insane from 6 month tours just sitting somewhere with nothing to do.

Anyway, I know it's late and many of you may not read the late posts, but hello, goodnight, and God bless :)
I survived open heart surgery.... :)

Rob, I don't believe I know your friend but I do see his name in connection with the Belmont Parks & Rec website.

I'm a transplant from Michigan, so there are some folks from my town I just don't know unless I went to school with them.  But I only went one year at Belmont.

It is such a small world - Ed from Michigan is from the same town I moved from when I came to Mississippi.  Weird, this internet.

Blessings y'all
