Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succor them that are tempted [tested]. [/b]
Hebrews 2:18

This verse reminds us of the obligation of our great High Priest.

When we are being tested, He is obliged to "turn to the cry of His child" (definition of succor).

What loving parent wouldn't turn to the cry of their child? He knows our sorrows. He suffered pain, rejection--all the things that cause us to cry.

Just as He stretched out His hand to Peter when he called, "Lord, save me," He now stands ready to turn to you in your time of need.
--J. Comte

Farther along we'll know all about it,
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up, my brother! Live in the sunshine,
We'll understand it all bye and bye.

Carol

It is morning here in Brussels and I have read only a few last posts.  I was thinking about the gift of confessing our sins alone and to the Lord several days ago as we toured a Catholic church and people were in line to confess.  Of course, it must be a comfort to hear a human voice say something like "go and sin no more" or something in that manner.  But - my joy is that I know I can talk any minute to the day directly to the Lord and speak my mind - listen and wait for answers and if the answer really doesn't show itself quickly it usually does when I look back.  What a perfect arrangement.

Larry:  I just caught the word "transplant" and now I will try to see why that was mentioned with your name.

Pat Scott:  And, you are on antibiotics!  So sorry to hear that you have not been feeling well.  I have a very mild ear problem and in talking with two pharmacists lately, think that the over the counter meds will help - it is not bad but I must get rid of it before getting on the airplane in ten days.  Take care.  Oh, I do hope your car is working well.

Hello to the other Carol.  Wherever you are.

Jenny

Hi Carol
The "other " Carol is my friend.  She lives down the hill from me in England. It would seem that she will be moving to France in the future however.

Pat Hope you feel a bit better today dear. Thanks for the verse from that good old hymn. I have it on a tape with George Bev.Shea singing. It's lovely...

The sun is shining here this morning although it seems quite chilly and autumnal. Surely not yet?

The Lord bless all you dear ones.
Love,
Jenny.  X

Canadians v Americans in the Olympics....Quality not quantity...Ouch!!! :o

America is bigger than Canada and lets work it out on averages.

I am going into hiding for the day I think before our U.S. cousins start on me....... ;D

Kathy

:)   Good Morning to all :)
I am behind for 2 days so will catch up later on, but wanted to stop by and speak to all.

Well,  Jenny, I AM proud of our American athletes...but then I am proud of anybody who is able to participate in the events. ;D

:-[ Pat :-[ I pray you are feeling better today.

I am back to my morning devotionals.  The Bible verse we are leaning this week is 2
Tim 3:16-17..All Scripture is God-breathed and is usefull for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work  NIV

Off to being "thoroughly equipped"  ;)

Today is my day to get stuck again.  I go to the doctor in a few minutes to have a blood test.  Then back to the doctor Monday to talk to him.  I am hydrating my veins so they will be nice to the nurse.....

I got my pc to upload to my GPS yesterday.  I don't know why it decided to work...it didn't work on Jerry's pc.  But when I came home, I tried again and voila!!!!!

Cloudy and rainy today.  Nice and warm, though.

Etta Sue, your experience with your PC makes me think of the old adage so often quoted by my parents: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."  :)

I'm really thankful to see the spiritual discussions here. How important for us to search the scriptures so that we can better live our lives and better show those with whom we associate the truths from the Bible as we live out the word on a daily basis.

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Good morning!  Another busy day here.  Lots to do before school starts.
Chandraya is taking a family picture today to put in her scrap book so I better get going and get ready.

Be back later.

Hi Cousin  ;D Jenny!  I am rooting for almost everyone!  What stunning athletes and talent they have been gifted.  The Brits do so wonderful at sailing.  I did not see the final results of that though.  Oh, your friend may be moving to France.  I have heard that quite a few Brits retire in southern France.

Etta Sue:  Sorry about this being your day for tests -

Soni:  Darling girls!  Love their striped stockings.

Carol

Janet

My day won't be quite as busy as I had thought.  One of my students just got a pacemaker put in yesterday, another is feeling bad, etc. etc.......so we are not having painting class today.

Jenny, your card for Beth arrived yesterday---thak you SO much!  And I talked to the man who is putting my old 8mm movies onto DVDs and he thinks they will be done in the morning!  I plan to have them playing on a TV at the party (they are the old silent ones!)  That should be fun---they are ones of the kids when they were very small.  I can't wait to see them again myself.

Time to fix a bite of lunch.  I shall return!
My book Rising Above available at JanetDamon.com

Ruth

Pat: I hope that you are feeling better.

Janet:  How hard is it to have your old 8mm moves put on DVD and is it expensive to have done ?

I think that we spend much time in front of the TV watching the Olympics.

Our day here so far is rain and cloud.

Â                     How very true this word from Tozer,
the words quoted below from the gospel of John are the words I read in the bible the day God captured me, they spoke right into my soul and I fell on my knees and cried out to Him, and He graciously made me His son, regards to all ,Chris.

Evangelism: Sovereign Calling

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born,
not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of
man, but of God.
--John 1:12-13

There is another and worse evil which springs from this basic failure
to grasp the radical difference between the natures of the two
worlds. It is the habit of languidly "accepting" salvation as if it
were a small matter and one wholly in our hands. Men are exhorted to
think things over and "decide" for Christ, and in some places one
day each year is set aside as "Decision Day," at which time people
are expected to condescend to grant Christ the right to save them, a
right which they have obviously refused Him up to that time. Christ
is thus made to stand again before men's judgment seat; He is made
to wait upon the pleasure of the individual, and after long and
humble waiting is either turned away or patronizingly admitted. By a
complete misunderstanding of the noble and true doctrine of the
freedom of the human will salvation is made to depend perilously upon
the will of man instead of upon the will of God.

However deep the mystery, however many the paradoxes involved, it is
still true that men become saints not at their own whim but by
sovereign calling.
The Pursuit of Man, pp. 37-38

"Sovereign God, I'm Your servant. I'll share the message, I'll pray
for response, but only You can draw an unsaved person to faith in
Christ. Thank You for the privilege of having even a small part in
Your sovereign work. Amen."

Papa John

Pat, thanks for the devotional.  And it is good to see Carol, Jenny, Kathy, Etta Sue, Sarah, Ruth Ann, Soni, Janet,     Mieka, Ruth, Chris and Margit, Jane,  Good to see each one of you today.

I didn’t get here yesterday but I have a good excuse.  Yesterday morning I went to my dentist to have my teeth cleaned and also had a tooth which had to be pulled, a second molar.  It isn’t pleasant to have a tooth pulled.  I spent the rest of the day resting and taking Tylenol.  It is better today and I think it will heal up quickly.

I’m getting ready to go walking with Cornelia in the mall.  A little exercise is good but living for the Lord is  much more profitable.

1 Tim 4:8  For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. (KJV)

Anthony, where are you?  I hope you are doing well.

Jenny

Good evening folks.

It's very dark here tonight and my house is soooo quiet.  Chris is away for the night and I am missing my little Sunday doggie.
I thought I would pop in here for a bit of comfort.  ::) Yes?

Janet.  I am glad the card arrived.  I had a slight problem.  I had bought some lovely cards when I went to the dentists two weeks ago and I chose the prettiest one for Beth., However, I wasn t sure if the stamps would cover the postage and I used one which the post office had assured me would be sufficient and added the one marked 1st class (just to be safe) so I hope it was covered as I had flu last week and I wasn't able to go the post office and get it weighted properly.  I just used my little kitchen scales and had a look at the Post Office web site for charges etc., No way was Beth going to miss out on her card from England...Let me know if I owe you anything?  ;) Tell Beth it comes with a big {{{Hug}}} from me.

I have been doing some sewing.  I have almost finished a long stitch picture of Cornfields with Poppies for Chris. You know my son and his First World War hobby.  I have already made him one poppy tapestry.  (posted it on C.P.  last year) The hardest part is this last.  Having to sew the tiny daisies and french knots over the actual tapestry work and make the effect of distance.  I should finish it tomorrow.  Then I am making a nice bathroom mat for my daughter Helen.  They are moving soon. It will be a nice Housewarming gift.

Tragic news here today.  A little boy of 2 years was killed by a hit and run driver not far from here. He was crossing the road with his young auntie when a speeding car ran them over.  His dear little body was carried on the bonnet for some distance. The driver did not stop. The mother was on television tonight. She looks very, very young. I pray that someone will come along side her to comfort her show the love of Jesus. No-one else can help her.

Hello to everyone I see here Cousin Carol ;)..Ruth. Chris and Margit. Mieka and Soni. Sarah and Kathy....and I see Papa John on line.Ooh I hope you feel better now.  I can't remember having a tooth out either..how painful. You are very brave.

Yes didn't the Brits do well at sailing?...Just at sailing ha ha!!  Well Britain did use to "rule the waves" ...There again it is a sport where some cash is needed.

Chris I think I will pop in and have a sing along with you. Thanks for the invite.

Lots of love and God Bless.
Jenny

Hi Folks!

I had a URL sent to me by one of our members and what a good little reading it was.  I'm going to paste it here.

    THE NAPKIN ABOUT CHRIST'S HEAD
    Andrew Bonar

And the napkin, that was about His head, not lying with the linen clothes,
but wrapped together in a place by itself

    John 20:7

Why 'wrapped together in a place by itself '?

Because Jesus wished to show that He arose calmly: no haste, no hurry, not as if in flight from the tomb, but in solemn triumph and at leisure. So He wishes His people to be calm. 'He that believeth shall not make haste.' Yes, and see! He folded the napkin neatly and laid it by.

But far more. That napkin had been put there by Joseph and Nicodemus. Christ very likely was as beautiful as Moses, but His face had been marred by suffering. After His death the beauty all returned, and that was why they did not cover His face with a napkin, as John 11: 44. Seeing the bleeding wounds caused by the crown of thorns, they carefully and tenderly drew the napkin round His brow. When Jesus awoke on the third day He noticed this act of kindness, and folded up the napkin and laid it in a place by itself, as indeed precious to Him, because it told the tenderness of their care for Him. They will hear more about this napkin when He returns.

Thus He cares for the smallest acts of kindness we do for Him and to Him; how much more for what we do under difficulties and in suffering, and not least, for our efforts to win souls.

    AMAZING GRACE
    (Click title to hear music)

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
    I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

?Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
    And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
    The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
    I have already come;
?Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
    His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
    As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
    And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
    The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
    Shall be forever mine.

When we?ve been there ten thousand years,
    Bright shining as the sun,
We?ve no less days to sing God?s praise
    Than when we?d first begun.

    Judy McKenna

Hi Everyone:  Well, Pat HAS told us that we can come in and post, even if there isn't a whole lot of news.  Well, ...thats ME tonight.  I am just popping in for a wee visit with you all., I haven't seemed to accomplish a lot though.  Oh., I'm so sorry I wasn't online when Papa John posted....then he would have said a "welcome" to me as well!

see...thats what I get for staying away for a couple of days!!  We had a painter come to our home for the past thre days.  He painted the trim on our house.  Wish I could post you a picture., but try and picture a 1960's yellow brick bungalow with boring brown shutters, eves, shingles etc.  Now all that dull broing brown is now a pumpkin shade.  Even the doors.  believe it or not...it does look nice.  Its not a bright pumpkin., rather a suttle color.  It does "liven" the place up! :)

Pat - I am sure hoping that you are feeling better.  This has been a terrible summer for you, all the expense of a "sick car, sick computer, and a sick YOU!"...Thankfully, you don't have a sick Geordie and Lauren!!

Janet:  How did Beth's party go?  I am so anxious to hear all the details.

I am sitting here eating a chocolate bar as I type.....Its called "Big Boy"....YUM - its so good.

I trust everyone is welcoming all our "new friends"!
"I am too blessed to be stressed".

    Janet

Judy, Beth's party is Saturday night.  And someone from the Baptist church she attends called her tonight and told her about it.  I'm just sick with disappointment. :'(  But I think I have her convinced that they don't know what they are talking about, so may be able to salvage part of the surprise anyway.  But still............why????  :'(

I had another bad night last night, so I surely hope I can sleep tonight.  Too many of those in a row wears a body out.

I am just so wound up I don't want to say much tonight.  I must behave as a Christian!  I know it must have been a mistake, but EVERYONE knew it was to be a surprise. :-\

Jenny, no, the card didn't have postage due--you did good!  Several cards arrived today from all over the place!  Yippee!  At least that part will still be a surprise.

Ohhhhh, Janet!  Now, WHY? for sure!  That's sad.  Did this person not realize that this was a surprise?  I'm so sorry to read this news.

Hi everyone.  Have had a busy day and am about ready to retire for the night.  Last night while we were at church a friend asked me to help him with his new computer.  So after coffee this morning I went to his house and provided some training for him and corrected some settings that were causing problems.  It was about 2 pm before I got home (they feed me lunhc).   Pat had 5 of her quilting ladies over here this afternoon and so she didn't feel like fixing supper so we went out to eat.  Just now have had a chance to read the postings from where I left off yesterday and the new postings in NEM for today.

    Good devotional material and discussions.

pat and Papa John, glad you are both feeling better today.

I have another doctor's appointment tomorrow around noon at a location that is about an hour from where we live and where I have to get on the busy freeway.  Not looking forward to it but at least it doesn't require me to drive there during the rush hour.  Tomorrow evening our three day revival starts at our church and this will be the contempoary service.  On Saturday evening we will have a traditional service and then a combined service on Sunday.

Going to be brief tonight as am tired.  Be back tomorrow.

Edit:  Janet, we were posting at the same time.  So sorry to read that the surprise is gone but sure the joy of the occasion won't be lost and I hope there are still some surprises awaiting her.

I am going to post this here because I want everyone to see it, Gloria's mother is now on a ventilator because she can no longer breathe on her own. We are trying to find someone to take Gloria down to where her mother is, they have called for the family to come together and make some decisions.[/color]

Sorry I didn't get in to post this morning, I ran out of time. This afternoon when I got home I had to take care of my own house and laundry. I do go buy the jars and Sure ell for the jam, now to finish picking the berries.

Well I am now going to read all the things I have missed.
Janet I am so sor that this has happened  and that you are so upset. Please dear sister take a deep breath and calm down. Get some rest.
