Morning Devotional...

The king's garden.
Nehemiah 3:15

The "king's garden" in Jerusalem reminds us of another garden which the King of kings prepared for Adam; the Garden of Eden. Sin ruined that delightful and fruitful abode and now it yields thorns and thistles.

But there is another garden called Gethsemane which the King watered with His tears and sweat, anticipating the horrors of Calvary, where He would bear the sins of the whole world, and redeem what Adam had lost in Eden.

We have entered into the good of those tears and so may we pray, "Lord, make my heart the King's Garden where Thy flowers and fruit flourish, so when the King walks through it, He will find pleasure"
—Milton Haack

In the Garden
(Click for Music)

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses.

Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.

Refrain

I'd stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

Refrain

Thanks, PAT!  I truly love that hymn ... It was also a favorite of my mother's.  What a wonderful thing to meet with our Savior in this blessed garden!
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone,

Jane, that hymn was also one of my mother's favorite hymn and mine as well.  Pat, thanks for the devotional and putting in that hymn.  Glad your computer room is almost finished.

Etta Sue, becareful in what you do while your family is away.  Glad you got your yard mowed.  If you go outside when you are all along it would be a good idea to be sure your cellphone is in your pocket.  That way you could always summons help quickly.

Welcome to our new members to CP.

Marilyn, the stawberry jam sounds so good.  I know it is delightful to plan for the move and what you will be able to do.  Hopefully you will be able to stay in this house for a long time.  I am sure you are a very good tenent.

Karmat, I well remember experiencing earthquakes when we lived in Alaska and sitting at my desk and all of a sudden it rolls backwards.

Carol, I don't have a date for the implant but it should be within the next two or three weeks.  I am certainly not worried about it as my life is in God's hands.

We do have a new concern in our family as our son called yesterday afternoon and said he had been laid off from where he had worked the last 5 years.  He had a very good job and as of midnight last night his benefits ceased.  His wife has serious health problems and takes lots of medicine.  This will be a time of great turmoil for he and his wife.

Well, it is time to go to coffee at the Senior Center and then I have lots of things I need to get done today.

Al Moak

I'm glad to hear that Marilyn is in a jam! (wouldn't mind being in it myself).  It's great to hear from Ria!  Es ist im Nederland gut!

How good to be in the garden of our Lord!  Oh that I may bear fruit for His glory!

Larry - would it be a good thing to place a prayer request in our prayer folder for your son?

Marilyn

Dear CP family;

Now that I have once again settled down I want to thank everyone for your prayers regarding my new home. You have been praying for this for months and months, I apologize for not thanking you sooner, but I have not been thinking straight for the last couple of days. Now that my head is out of the clouds  I thank you all. You are special people and my family. I think you must know me better that some of those who are the closest to me.

I love you all

Marilyn

I have posted a prayer request HERE

Good Morning, Thank you Pat for the devotional and "In the garden" I have always loved that song.

Larry I think I may have done something wrong with my jam as I see it is not yet set even though it has been on the counter overnight. I may have to go get some more pectin and redo it. By the way Larry I am praying for you and your Pat.

Yes Al it is always nice to hear from Ria, We correspond every now and then. If any one does write to her please use a large font so she can see it.

Jane thanks for the email you reminded me to thank every one not by what you said but by my conviction fromt he Lord.

I am not neglecting anyone here and please don't feel that I have left any of you out.  I do pray for all of you and your needs.

Etta Sue do be careful while your family is gone and you are alone in your neighborhood. The place I lived just before I moved here was out in the boonies at least 1/4 mile from any neighbor. Sometimes I would be doing laundry after dark and it would seem like all the eyes of the desert were watching me crossed the driveway from the garage to the house. It was a creepy feeling.  I would look for those yellow eyes of the coyotes and listen for rustling in the sagebrush and tumbleweeds, then I would run for the door as there was no outside light on that part of the house.

Pat:  I trust that you are feeling better and over the flu.  Now, a good friend called me today and she is very ill and she lives alone so I will check on her later.  It sounds like the flu as well.  My father used to sing this song - "In the Garden"....lovely.

Marilyn:  I can just picture you - smiling and so happy with your news.

Etta Sue:  Well, we can see our telephone line hanging from the garage front & it has been taped but wires show - plus other things are not right - the flashing doesn't look right.  The homeowner's board voted on the cheapest & you get what you pay for - the roof looks alright in most ways though.  I tried to answer you last night but connection broke off.

Larry:  No one need worry about you.  You are strong in faith.  Sorry to learn of your son losing his job and benefits cut.  The company is supposed to give him the opportunity to buy the benefits.  Also, I am sure you know about Cobra.  I just talked to Don about your son's situation.

A haircut for me this morning.  It always makes me feel lighter in the head.   :D

Carol

Etta Sue

Thank you Pat for 'In the Garden'.  My, just look how many mother's were blessed with this song.  My mother's favorite also.  I still don't know how her great-grandson sang that song at her funeral.  He was strong during the singing but was a basket case afterwards.  A very emotional man.  I am listening to the song now and even discovered how to repeat it.

I stayed up late last night...reading.  I slept so sound.  It rained and I didn't even realize it was raining.  The girls let me sleep late probably because it wasn't bright and sunny...they thought it was still early morning.  When I got up, I decided to go out for breakfast and then go to the grocery store.  I did.  Now the doors are all locked.  I am cautious and I do take my cell phone outside with me and to the basement.  I made double sure that the doors were all locked and the security system was intact.  But if the family was in the neighborhood, someone could still get in.  Don't know why I double checked everything last night.  But then I have been known to get up in the morning and my keys are in the keyhole on the OUTSIDE of the door.  Or a door was unlocked.  Once I know, I went to bed for three nights and the inside backdoor was open and the screen door was unlocked.  It is pretty safe out here.  You don't hear of scuttle-butt but when I am alone, I think of those things.  I am not scared...just cautious...and aware.

But, thanks to all of you for caring and sharing.  God Bless You.

Janet

Hmmm.............I did pop in yesterday and post, but it didn't "stick" I guess.  Oh, well, not much excitement here, anyway.

I went in to the museum this morning and put "title" cards with prices on all my paintings; borrowed a small table and tablecloth from Pat, on which to put my business cards, brochures, etc.  I have found three pretty candles and some greenery to take to dress up the table a little, those are in my car, so I am pretty much ready for the big event.  I will take my camera and take some photos--which I will not be able to share until I get a computer again.  >:( :(

Pat, glad you are getting things all set up as you want them.  And aren't grandkids grand to have around?  Even little Abby is a lot of help to me in lots of ways.  Of course I have depended on Curtis and Mark to help me with computer problems all along; so I really miss their help.  Most of all I just miss having them around.  But Curtis will be 22 years old in September, is a senior in college (but will be a senior again next year, as he is in a 5 year program) and then will serve at least four to six years in the Air Force.  So anytime I get to have him around will be a rare treat!  And Mark is also in Air Force ROTC, and if he gets a scholarship from them will allso serve in the Air Force.

Beth is supposed to call me this afternoon or evening.  She called last night, but I was at a scrapbooking workshop.

Marilyn, I can "hear" the joy in your posts.  How fun to have a "real house" to fix up!  And please tell dear Ria hello for me.  I love and miss her.

Larry, I am trusting along with you that the procedure of the implant will go smoothly and you will have a quick recovery.  Hugs to both you and your Pat; and prayers for your son and wife.  That is awful to lose his job like that---and to terminate their benefits so abruptly just isn't fair.  But please do not let it stress you, God is in control.  I pray He will use this situation to show your son He really does love and care for him, and provide a way for him where he can see no way.

Etta Sue, your neighborhood is really quiet and peaceful for a while, huh?  I grew up in the country, six miles from the nearest small town, and never knew any fear at all.  We kids used to sleep outdoors on nice summer nights, and I loved staring at the stars and making up songs about them.  We now live about three miles from town, and I am still not afraid.  In fact, I can't think of anything I am aftraid of--some things I do have sense enough to be cautious about, but fear?  Nope.  ;D

Whew!  It is HOT up here!  I think I will go downstairs where it is cooler!  See you all later!

Hi there everyone - I am writing in green, because I have been sick lately....feeling green. But I am getting better.  I love this song too.....but I go to the garden at night.....well I guess in the early early morning while the stars are still out before I go to sleep.  My favorite time to talk with the Lord is when the world is quiet around me....after everyone has gone to bed.   we talk about the day we had and we ask for strength for tomorrow......I've been really tarrying a lot these few days......He is so beautiful

It may appear that I am vacant and not too active in these postings, but know that I do read them and I am holding you all up in your various needs....I especially pray for the sick ones when I am feeling  sick...because whenever I am sick, it is usually so minor compared to others.  I have learned to thank God for my headache...because it reminds me to pray for those who have a headache all the time.....I thank God whenever my back hurts a bit, because there are so many that live with constant pain, and until I have a pain, I forget to hold them up in prayer.  So I believe that God just gives me a little reminder to pray for someone by giving me a taste of what they may feel.

I just gat a call from Bryan while I was typing this, he is on his way to a church retreat - he was granted a scholarship and he is so very happy, also I spoke with his friend Justin, whom he is now living with and working with....nice Christian guy....I am hopeful for a blessing for them this weekend.

And, Nita, I know what you mean when you said that about your grandson.....what are they thinking?   They're NOT.   But, I suppose our mothers where pulling their hair out with us too.....huh, mA?   Please don't answer that....or at least don't give details.   We usually grow up some day..........

It has been stormy here the last few nights....sunny and nice in the day, but the nights are wild...and the swells in the water during the day are so big and turbulant.   I like to look at it when it is active like this...I like to get in it when it is calm!

Hi, friends,

I'm on this great borrowed computer again. It's good to "live" in our christian community.

I hope to take it really easy but try to work 1/2 day on Monday.

There are so many things I'd like to say to everyone, but must hurry on.

Hugs to all (and also to Ria, whom I've grown to love). I miss her and several others including Mieka. If someone talks with her, please send her my love.

Ruth Ann

Good afternoon everyone!

Another busy day, but it's just about over with. (Yea!!!)  We had a demonstration of radar (elementary version!) for our science today and I learned as much as the kids.

Etta Sue -  I couldn't do school 12 months so I wouldn't even ask my  kids to do it like that.  Although they learn all the time, they just don't realize it!  We finish in early May and start up again the 1st of August.  But we take as many days off as we want to, and go on vacation whenever we can, so it balances out time wise.

I'm just glad the weekend is here, its just that much closer to Sunday. I've gotten a renewed desire for church lately, can't seem to get enough!

I want to thank you all for your expressions of concerns and assurances of prayers for my son and his wife.  I think I will put this request in the Prayer folder.

Janet (and others where it might be applicable) there is a great website called logmein.com.  They offer a free service for personal use that will let you put software on your computer and then if you give the login name, password and access code to someone they can access your computer from whereever they are.  I use it all the time to get to my desktop when I am in the other room using the laptop and today I sent it to my son as I need his help in fixing my networking since I redid this desktop.  Janet, it is very simple to setup and your grandson could then work on your computer when you had a problem (as long as the computer is functional).  You can run programs from afar and access everything on your computer with it.  I thought this might be helpful for some of you.  Anytime you wanted to deny access to someone you simply change the access code.  You don't even have to put software on the person's computer who is helping as they log in through the Internet to the site and they provide the secure connection.  Hope this is helpful to some of you.

Hello Everyone!

Well, Sharon has left and now my house is quiet once again.  We did get a lot of heavy stuff done though.  She's a lovely girl and very strong and just never gets tired.

I won't comment on everyone's posts but it's so good to read all of them.

Talk to you later.

JUST A CLOSER WALK WITH THEE
(Click to hear music)

We also are weak in Him, yet by
God's power we shall live with Him.
2 Corinthians 13:4

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I'll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Chorus:
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Chorus:
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

When my feeble life is o'er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o'er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Chorus:
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

I have been doing just  a few things since I came home I cleaned out a (I don't know what to call it) piece of furniture I think it is called a dry sink. or something like that . It has 2 drawers and 2 doors. I washed it all off with some Orange cleaner and I guess I haven't washed it in years because it was smoke laden I had to throw away the rag I used. Yuckers!!!

I loaded a big garbage bag with purses and clothing to go to the Salvation army. Lots more to go. Now it is time for fix my  stir fry for supper.

Nita

Hi everyone.  I'm just checkin in to say hello.

Joy, I know I'd love your night storms and waves.  Do you hear the waves crashing?

I just woke up.  I've been taking long naps lately.   I wake up around 6 am or so, but by late morning, I'm so tired I can't stay awake.  I've given in and am now just going back to bed and sleeping as long as I need to.

I had my little grandson last night.  He had to come show gramma his "two wiggly teeth".  And to whistle for me.  I think I've never heard a greater whistle coming out between little teeth than Kaleb's whistle.  I know he agrees with me.

I bought gas earlier!  It's $2.73 now.  I felt a little bit of fear when I think of what stove oil must be now.  But my next thought was that my Father takes care of me.  I won't need any for awhile.  I've been having to turn on the stove in the mornings lately, as it's beginning get early-morning-chilly around here.

Blessings,  nita
