JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Morning Devotional...

Accusations and Unbelief
Luke 11:14-32  NLT

14One day Jesus cast a demon out of a man who couldn't speak, and the man's voice returned to him. The crowd was amazed, 15but some said, "No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons!" 16Trying to test Jesus, others asked for a miraculous sign from heaven to see if he was from God.

17He knew their thoughts, so he said, "Any kingdom at war with itself is doomed. A divided home is also doomed. 18You say I am empowered by the prince of demons. But if Satan is fighting against himself by empowering me to cast out his demons, how can his kingdom survive? 19And if I am empowered by the prince of demons, what about your own followers? They cast out demons, too, so they will judge you for what you have said. 20But if I am casting out demons by the power of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you. 21For when Satan, who is completely armed, guards his palace, it is safe-- 22until someone who is stronger attacks and overpowers him, strips him of his weapons, and carries off his belongings.

23"Anyone who isn't helping me opposes me, and anyone who isn't working with me is actually working against me.

24"When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, `I will return to the person I came from.' 25So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and clean. 26Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before."

27As he was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, "God bless your mother--the womb from which you came, and the breasts that nursed you!"

28He replied, "But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice."

29As the crowd pressed in on Jesus, he said, "These are evil times, and this evil generation keeps asking me to show them a miraculous sign. But the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. 30What happened to him was a sign to the people of Nineveh that God had sent him. What happens to me will be a sign that God has sent me, the Son of Man, to these people.

31"The queen of Sheba will rise up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, because she came from a distant land to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And now someone greater than Solomon is here--and you refuse to listen to him. 32The people of Nineveh, too, will rise up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah. And now someone greater than Jonah is here--and you refuse to repent.

What are your strongest reasons for being a faithful follower?

Jesus says, "Anyone who isn't helping me opposes me," while earlier he stated, "Anyone who is not against you is for you."

People may be neutral toward Christians, but they cannot be neutral in their relationship to Jesus.  You can't be neutral in the battle between Jesus and Satan.  You can't be aloof or noncommital because there are only two sides.

Since God has already won the battle, why be on the losing side?

If you aren't actively for Christ, you are against him.

Is there a method to who starts the new day or is it a race to see who starts it first?  :)   Seems earlier and earlier each night at times.

Etta Sue...I glanced at the devotional, but will savor it tomorrow morning...but I like the bit I read at the end already.

Walking by faith means you see God's hand even in the most difficult of circumstances.

My A/C man got here at 9 p.m.  It seems it is blowing cold air now.  The condenser wasn't working.  And he added some freon.  And it was iced up inside the house.  Hope it is fixed.  It was 81° in here when he got here.  Way too hot for me!

I forgot to tell Al HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  That's what happens when you grow old.

And also Hi Soni!!  I sure do miss you.  Tell Chandraya hello for me.  Wish I could see her dance....and Lila Mae.  How are Zachary and Troy?  And Mike?

Hi Ohenry...I can't remember who does the devotions on what days except me....I post the devotion for Thursdays!  And it is a tad early but I wanted to get away from this hot compressor in this hot room!

Larry Hanna

Hi everyone.  I think is a first for me to post before the actual day on the next days board--two for one I guess since I didn't get to the one for the 2nd in time.  I have had a very busy day and a difficult afternoon.  However, we had choir practice tonight and it was nice to get back with our choir and to sing the praises of the Lord again after no choir practice for a month.

Al, as usual I am late with the birthday wish.  Happy to see you had a good and enjoyable day even if the movie didn't meet your expectations.  It has been a long time since Pat and I went to a movie.  A couple of times we thought about going but in looking at what was playing decided it wasn't worth our time.

Sonja, so good to see your posting and to hear from you.  You are missed but I am sure we all understand that family comes first and know you have a very active and lovely family.

I could comment on each of the posts from the 2nd but won't as it is actually past my bedtime.  I will try to get back a little earlier tomorrow but it is going to be another busy day.

Carol

Such talent in here, I just read OHenry's site on tutorials.  Etta Sue and so many of you, I shouldn't start to name anyone as everyone is so talented.

Pat: Certainly hope that your house cools - it can be so frustrating to get a building cooled down.  And, to think that soon you will be turning the heat on.

Larry That hand dip should help Pat - I bought it for Don when he had hand surgery & he would walk in the bathroom & use it so often - many times a day after his hand had healed but still hurt.  I sewed a mitten of polar fleece to put over the plastic hand they give you - it would keep the hand warm longer.  Does she need some material?  I will send her some fabric if she needs it.

Sneezing here.  Must be the air conditioner.  Bye for the night.
Carol

I figured there must be some sort of method for who starts the new day and that explains why they seem to be posted at different times of the evening, depending on which time zone the person for that day resides and how tired they are that evening  ;D

I just finished processing one of the sunset pictures on the Oregon coast.  The evening lights weren't all that spectacular with a cloudless night and some haze on the horizon, but I'll post it in my gallery anyway.  The shot was one of many as the sun dipped into the horizon.

Well...I seem to be having problems uploading tonight...I'll try again tomorrow

What is the problem you are having uploading?  Were you getting an error message?  If so, can you copy it to me?

Good Morning; What a wonderful service we had last night. Art and Wanda Peace (Evangelists) were there. They did a lot of their own Southern Gospel songs and some preaching too. We had  very small crowd About 25 people but we had one Salvation and one filled with the Holy Ghost.

Today I am taking Jan to the Orchid farm to have her Orchid divided. Then we are going to the hardware store. After I get home I will clean my house and do laundry. Tomorrow I go to clean the new cent's house.

Anyway so that is what my day is going to be. How about yours?

Etta Sue thank you for the devotional  this morning.

Pat how are things up your way. Hi Carol, Larry, and Everyone else who stops in today. I will be back later.

Al I didn't wish you Happy Birthday because I didn't think you wanted to be reminded that you are already as old as dirt.

WOW - old as dirt, hmmmmm.  Glad that it is about Al & not me.. :D

Marilyn:  What could be better than Southern Gospel music?  We really love listening to the old songs and enjoy the good old Baptist music.  Glad that you had such a success!

I had a very nice morning spending lots of time chatting & it happens all with younger women.  Don is meeting a friend for coffee.  If we ever move closer to the children, we only know a few people in that direction but would start meeting new friends all over again - it can be done but it always takes more effort.  Those of you who have rarely move, I do envy you - but this is the path that has fallen in front of our feet so we look for the good things.  I do have a sad twinge when we see families in church & our kids are too far away except on special occasions.  This is much too long - I cannot complain.  My cousin has her only son as a missionary in Uzbeckistan for about 9 years - including all 5 grandchildren.  Now, that is moving away - and that plane ticket to bring them back is huge to say the least.

Sorry for the long post.  Carol

Pat

Hi Marilyn and Carol.

I, too, love southern gospel.  In fact I have some on right now!

Carol and Pat I to love Southern Gospel.

The older than dirt comment is meant as a dry joke. Al will understand the humour. You have to know all of us to really understand the way we talk to one another. Marbeth is as bad as Al.

Pat I have reached 10,000 Posts, Now What? Shall we celebrate?

 :coffee:

Southern Gospel, huh?  Being a native of Louisiana, and having an aunt who was a Christian and a musician, I was around that kind of music in my youth.  I will let you guess if I listen to it now :D .

Casey goes back to San Diego tomorrow for his second year of college.  Today will be a bit sad, but we'll make the most of it.

Maybe I'll post a picture or two in the days to come, of his summer vacation with us.

A thought from Colossians...

God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He's set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much,  the Son who got us out of the pit we were in, got rid of the sins we were doomed to keep repeating.

Oh, Kevin, tomorrow is going to be a sad day for you.  I will be remembering you.  Give Midori a hug for me.

Congratulations, Marilyn!  That's a lot of posts!

Yes, I fully understood that "dirty" comment by Marilyn.  Not to worry, it shall be returned upon her own head in due time.

Larry - the problem with bd is that it doesn't matter whether you celebrate it or not - it still happens anyway!

Marbeth was extra nice to me all day, as is only fitting.
