Janet: Hello, Friends!  Let's get this going again!  I miss  hearing from all of you! 2025-01-23, 19:26:16

Don: Hey Judy, It's been a long time. Hope you are doing well. 2024-12-02, 22:41:41

JennyW: Hello Everyone! Just checking in to see if anyone wants to get this group going again! Hope all is well where ever you live! 2024-08-14, 08:21:59

Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Oldiesmann: So sorry for your loss Carol. Praying for you and your family :( 2022-05-01, 17:13:05

Welcome, Skief
We had to drive over the mountain to Glens Falls yesterday and discovered that, as we more or less expected, not only are the sumac blossoms red, but the leaves on some of the trees are starting to turn.  Seems as though they stay green for such a short time.  :o  This morning when I got up it was only 38 degrees and didn't get above 60 all day. Not that's not what we'd expect in early August. ;D

This morning on my way to work the car in front of me suddenly slowed to a crawl - to let a whole flock of turkeys cross from a small pond to a swampy area.  Toms, hens and babies.  Of course by the time I got up to where they crossed they were out of site in the brush and there went another photo op!   :(

I just got home from the fair in Hugoton, and Darrel said Pat had phoned and asked me to post a message for her.  Her computer has crashed and she can't get on CP.  Soni, could you please close the door tonight and open a new day's New Every Morning for tomorrow?  If you cannot, let me know and I will attempt to do it, but I don't know how to move the graphics, etc.  Or we could just add tomorrow to today's thread.  Thanks so much.

My new sewing machine has arrived. I can't wait to try it out, unfortunately I have to wait, until maybe in the morning I will set it up and get out the instruction manual and tinker a bit.

Sorry to hear about Pats computer. Ruth Ann if you look in I called you last night and left a message on your cell phone.

Hi Everyone...thank you Pat for the devotional.   The weather is cool now but that is the way I like it.

I have a girl at my place from Brazil.   She was going to school and then was a nanny in a home.  Now the immigration have told her to go back to Brazil.  She had no place to go, so I have her in my home sleeping on the chesterfield.  She is a Christian girl and loves the Lord.   I am hoping to talk to the Pastors at the church.   Please pray that God's will will done in this situation.  Thank you.

God Bless

Jaent, I wasn't sure if I should put a new NEM in because the date for the nem shows 6th and 7th.  That is today and tomorrow.  Somebody must have fixed it. hmmm...

Skief

Yes, I'm here in Minsk, Belarus, yes it was part of the USSR, and no, it is not part of Russia.  We've (my wife and 5 year old daughter) have been here now for over 2 years.  We were in Mongolia for 4 years before coming here.

Here's an interesting picture I took this past December in Luxor, Egypt.

Look closely and count the cows in the picture...

For the significance of this picture see Genesis 41.  As we were looking at it, I was counting the cows that I saw on it and thinking, no way is this what I think it is, up until the point when the guide made the reference to it.

This is not just a story that is made up in the Bible, this is history, not just for the Jews, but for the Egyptians as well.  The Egyptians were the ones who carved this in the walls of their temple.  They do not question the historicity of it, why should anyone else?
A watched clock never boils.

Good morning everyone.  I am sorry to hear about Pat's computer, but it's good to know that there are others who are able to help out if need be.

Skief, that is an interesting photograph and I never knew that it existed, so thanks for posting it.  Here in England we have the black obelisk that shows king Jehu bowing down to the king of Assyria.  All of these things give credence to the word of God.

I'm off to the church just now, so have a good day everyone and I will see you soon.

Anthony.

Welcome: Skief:

You will love it here on CP, I'm sure.  Everyone feels like FAMILY.

I'm just dropping in to let those of you know, who might be interested, that Larry King's interview with Joni E. Tada, will be broadcast tonight...Saturday on CNN at 9:PM eastern time....then a re-broadcast at 12: midnight.

I hope everyone gets a chance to see this incredible interview, where she exaulted the Lord.  What a tremendous testimony!

Please try not to miss it!

Greetings from Stornoway everyone. It's been a long time since I dropped in and much has changed. I have a lot to read and much to view - wonder if I'll get the time?

I read this the other day and was helped by it. Now I pass it on with the prayerful hope that it may encourage someone else.

'I will make all my mountains a way.' - Isaiah 49 Verse 11

God will make obstacles serve His purpose. We all have mountains in our lives. there are people and things that threaten to bar our progress in the divine life. Those heavy claims, that uncongenial occupation, that thorn in the flesh, that daily cross - we think that if only these were removed we might live purer, tenderer, holier lives; and often we pray for their removal.

'Oh fools, and slow of heart!'

These are the very conditions of achievement; they have been put into our lives as the means to the very graces and virtues for which we have been praying so long. Thou hast prayed for patience through long years, but there is something that tries thee beyond endurance; thou hast fled from it, evaded it, accounted it an unsurmountable obstacle to the desired attianment, and supposed that its removal would secure thy immediate deliverance and victory.

Not so!

Thou wouldest gain only the cessation of temptaions to impatience. But this would not be patience. patience can be acquired only through just such trials as now seem unbearable.

Go back; submit thyself. Claim to be a partaker in the patience of Jesus. Meet thy trials in Him. There is nothing in life which harasses and annoys that may not become subservient to the highest ends.

They are His mountains. he puts them there. We know that God will not fail to keep His promise.

'God understandeth the way thereof and knoweth the place thereof. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven'; and when we come to the foot of the mountains, we shall find the way.' - Meyer

We need some of those "fervent, effectual prayers" just now for Pat.  Pray that her computer will be easily fixed or providentially replaced.  She's still trying to get over the financial burden of her car, and now this.  Oh pray for God's blessed mercy and grace in this situation.

I've got to go to a men's prayer breakfast this morning (in just a few minutes), so won't be back in 'til later.

Kathy

What a wonderful surprise to see Iain!  thanks for your post!

I do pray that Pat will get her computer back to running OK....or even God will provide her with a new one.  She is soooooooo necessary to this board!

Congrats to Sonja! :)   I know we are all very proud of "our own"  ;)

A big welcome to Skief. I know you will enjoy your time here.

Marilyn, what are you going to sew with your new machine.  Do you sew with a serger?

I love this cool weather.  It was 57 last night.  We have been in the high 90's and humidity up there, too, so this is a great change.  I think that I will vacuum this ole house today.

God's blessings to all

Janet

IAIN!!! Great to see you back, brother!  And we will be interested in what has happened in your life during your absence.  I'm glad you posted that testimony, as Pat wasn't able to put on a new one for today.

Soni, I went ahead and added today just before I went to sleep last night, as I didn't know if you would be checking in again or not.  It is fine, we have done this several times before.  Congratulations on your winning photos, and I am looking forward to seeing them.

Al, I got your messages, and did add today to the thread.  Now that I have given it more thought, I think I know how to do the whole thing, but this works fine for today.

Justin spent the night with Curtis and Mark, so today I have three kids.  We have had pancakes and scrambled eggs and now they are watching cartoons.  It is cool and misty here, sort of a lazy feeling day.

WELCOME, SKIEF!!! Please tell us about Belarus.  What in interesting life you must have, but maybe also difficult?  I must go read the scripture you gave, as you have me puzzled.  Very interesting photo!

Kathy, good to hear you are getting relief from the heat, too.  It is really nice, isn't it?  This has been such an unusual summer here, weather wise.

Judy, thanks for another "heads up" about the Joni interview.  I do plan to watch it again.  She handled it with such grace, tact, and gave all the glory to God.  What an inspiration she is!

Iain how wonderful to see you this morning and as always your devotional is just the right one for the day. thank you for coming back and may God richly bless you dear brother.

Kathy I have never used a Serger, I had thought about getting one or a Baby Overlock but it wouldn't be practical for the sewing that I do. I needed one that would do a variety of things but mainly to just sew, This one has a large bed for for quilting and a couple of feet for quilting, it will do 67 different stitches plus 2 overlock stitches. My old machine as bought by my mother  in 1955 when I was 15, it is very heavy and uses cams for the different stitches. But it has become obsolete. It still works good though.

Pat is you get a chance to look in from your neighbors house. We are praying for you sister.

Skief that is a very interesting picure, I went to I went to Genesis 41 to see what it was all about.

Please pray for a young mother  (Shannon) who has finally consented to go to Teen Challenge, that she doesn't back out.

Hi everyone.  Just back from the library, where I went after coffee this morning.  Pat had some books on tape that were ready for pickup and this was the last day.  Like many of you we are having a beautiful weekend with much cooler weather.  I had to laugh last evening when I saw a "severe weather alert" for our area on the weather page.  I looked it and simply said we might have record setting cool weather, so what, there is certainly nothing severe about 60 degrees.

Sure sorry to get the word that Pat's computer has failed her again as she does so much on it.  Do hope it will be something simple to fix and that she will soon be back providing her valued leadership here on CP.

Iain, a wonderful treat to see you posting as it has been a long while since we last heard from you.  Do hope you are feeling much better and things are looking up for you.

I am still fighting this summer cold and really feeling rather tired from it.  However, know that it just takes time for the body to fight it off .

Welcome to CP, Skief, and I look forward to seeing your postings.

Marilyn, glad you got your sewing machine.  My wife has a serger and uses it occasionally but certainly not as much as she uses her sewing machine.  She mainly uses her sewing machine for quilting.

Janet, it sounds like it is going to be another busy day in your household with all that young energy.  I know your grandchildren are having a great time even if it is a bit tiring for the grandparents.  Visiting grandparents is something they will likely remember as highlights throughout their lives.

Al, do you have a large men's group at your church?

Judy, I am going to try to remember to watch the Joni interview this evening as I missied it when it was first shown.

Anthony, hope you have had a great time at your church fellowship.  It sounds like it would be a lot of fun.

Sonja, congrats on all those ribbons and the special grand champion award.

Jeanne, that 38 sounds a bit cool for August.  I think I prefer the 60 degrees we had here this morning.

Sue, it is nice when our work is recognized with special recognitions.  Are you a big baseball fan?

Etta Sue, your comment about dark haired folks had having hay fever intrigued me.  Don't think I have ever heard that before.  Pat and I used to attend dinner theaters occasionally and always had a great time.  It has been years since we attended and don't think there is any clsoe by to us.

Kathy, a cruise sounds very nice.  That is something Pat and I talked about doing but never did.  Don't know whether we will take a cruise or not but understand that most folks who go really enjoy them.

Papa John, JudyB, Ruth Ann and anyone else I have commented to I do hope you will have a wonderful day.  I have several things I need to accomplish today, including getting some material together for a computer seminar for seniors that our church is sponsoing tomorrow after church.  This is the third year they have done this but the first time on a Sunday afternoon.  They are providing a light lunch.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow
(Click to hear music)
Piano Accompaniment

Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Chorus:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender words I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears
Tho' by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Chorus:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Chorus:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Good morning!!  Another beautiful day here on the Pacific Coast.  I have all my windows and doors open so I hear the birds welcoming the day, and can feel the gentle (very gentle) breeze as I sit here.

I am really happy to see IAIN here this morning!  And, thank you for the testimony brother.

CONGRATULATIONS
to SONI and ALMA for their winning photography!
  [/b]

I have been rather "otherwise occupied" of late, doing some intervention or "standing in the gap" or just plain being Grandma for my grandson Bryan, who is being "chaptered out" of the Army.  His mother is in Mexico and only a close family member can access the help and counseling he needs sooooo that's my job!  I am happy to report that he is now receiving counseling with the Chaplain of his unit (Stryker Brigade) as well as the medical help he needs to make the adjustment to the "real world." in a few weeks.

Janet, Etta Sue, Marilyn, Jenny, Larry, Anthony, Judy (both McK and B), Soni, Nards, Al, Kathy, Papa John, Ruth Ann, Kathy, Skief and EVERYONE ELSE ... I have read all your messages and wish each one of you a blessed day in the Lord today!

10:22am here and it is beautiful!  Mike and I went folfing this morning and didn't do to bad.  It was great to get out.  Feels like it has been forever since we last spent time together.

Zachery is out mowing lawns for the neighbors.  I wonder if he will take me out to the movies with the cash he will make. hehe...

Hopefully Pat won't be off line to long.

I'll be back later.

Larry ~ I don't know if dark-haired people have hay fever or not.  Just that the people that I know with hay fever are redheads!  But my mother didn't have hay fever and she was a redhead.  I can remember Kaye Don having it so bad when he was little that his eyes would matt shut while sleeping.  Mom would have to put a hot washcloth over his eyes to soak them so he could open his eyes.  He takes shots now but still suffers.  Ivalou isn't quite so bad.  Just clogs up her sinus and she says it makes her fuzzy headed.  I can't relate to either problems.

Janet ~ I slept last night with the bedroom window open and no A/C so far today.  My electric bill be lower, I hope.

Papa John ~ It is great to read about you and Cornelia as you go about you lives.  God bless you.

Insanity sauce?  Never heard of that one!  The results sounds like green apples.

Congratulations, Sonja~ Which one of your superb photos got Grand Champion?????

Sue ~ Cross stitching?  I have done that but I prefer crocheting.  I am making an afghan for my step-granddaughter who is getting married in October and the wedding shower is in September.  Hope to have it done for the shower.  It isn't my favorite pattern but her mother picked it out.

Pat ~ I will have to watch CNN live tonight.  I got the interview on Word from someone but would love to see her live on Larry King.  Sorry about your pc.

Marilyn ~ I know you will love your new sewing machine.  They are so elaborate today!  You might even be able to get online with it....haha!

Skief ~ Glad to meet you and what a photo of an historic period.  I am thinking you have many more photos to share.

Hello IAIN ~ Go glad to see you.  How have you been?

Jane ~ I am sure that Bry knows his family cares for him but knowing you are there, means a lot for him.  He is in my prayers, sister.

Ivalou just called and we are going out for lunch somewhere.  Hmmm, the 7th.  My day.  Now where do I want to eat?

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends,

I was so exhausted that I slept really late today. I'm so VERY sorry about Pat's computer. The three-week enforced vacation from it made life really difficult for me recently, so I certainly understand.

But, maybe this is in the Lord's plan to allow Pat a bit of rest. Maybe, for her, He's saying, "Be still and know that I am God."

And, i truly believe she will be provided for in this matter.

It's so good to see several of our old friends coming to CP - we love and appreciate each of you and the profound effect you've had on our lives here in this Christian community.

Skief, it's also good to see you with us. Welcome, brother. And to the other new members with whom I've not spoken yet.

Y'all have a good day. It's time to get ready for work - I'll have to work both today and tomorrow to meet deadlines imposed upon my boss and me this past week.

Take care, my friends, I love you all.

Ruth Ann

Iain!!  How great to see you in here this morning!  The piece by Meyer reminded me of the saying, "Grace groweth best in winter."  I hope, therefore, that our Father has been making you strong via the mountains.

Skeif - WELCOME!!  Thats an interesting photo.  I'm quite convinced that all the ancients knew basically the same things.  This is further proof that we've all descended from one forefather.  I'm quite sure the plagues are also probably recorded somewhere in their history "writings."

Larry - our men's group isn't large, though for the size of the church it isn't bad.  We had ten this morning.  It varies from about 7 to 15.  We had a good time of prayer for one another.

QuoteAl, I got your messages, and did add today to the thread.  Now that I have given it more thought, I think I know how to do the whole thing, but this works fine for today.
Well, Janet, when you've got it all figured out, please tell me all about it, as I would like to learn how to do it too.

I'm back!!!  ... I think!

My guru friend is away on vacation and another fellow offered to come and look at the computer and after only about 10 minutes it was working.  Don't ask me what was wrong though.  This fellow doesn't speak English too well and he said it wasn't much.

So nice to meet you, Skeif!

Thanks for helping with the NEM, Janet and Al and Soni.  Great to have you as helpers!

I'm off to see the photos!

This is one of my favorite hymns...

Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
(Click to hear music)

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
1 John 4:16

Words: Charles Wesley
Music: "Beecher," John Zundel

Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heaven to earth come down;
Fix in us thy humble dwelling;
All thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
Pure unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation;
Enter every trembling heart.

Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit,
Into every troubled breast!
Let us all in Thee inherit;
Let us find that second rest.
Take away our bent to sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its Beginning,
Set our hearts at liberty.

Come, Almighty to deliver,
Let us all Thy life receive;
Suddenly return and never,
Never more Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve Thee as Thy hosts above,
Pray and praise Thee without ceasing,
Glory in Thy perfect love.

Finish, then, Thy new creation;
Pure and spotless let us be.
Let us see Thy great salvation
Perfectly restored in Thee;
Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heaven we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Finally finished reading all the many posts and feel somewhat better.  Made the mistake of reading the paper and left feeling that the 'inmates are running the asylum' .  Example:  A MP who stole a $64,000 ring to give to his boyfriend as an engagement ring, was given a conditional pardon.  Seems he suffered enough for the public humiliation.  Not so much that, while awaiting trial, he was sent on a paid holiday by our gov.   A murderer was released on parole after serving only part of his sentence for a brutal murder...now the family of the victim feels threatened.  And on and on....Thank goodness we have God to steady our course in these very scary times.

Wonderful day of rain yest. and instead of doing the usual BC thing of being grumpy, everyone I met was praising the rain and hoping it continued.  Thanks Pastor Al for your prayers.  I don't know how much they helped....but sure glad we are on the same side ;D.

I got stung by a wasp and my goodness, it surely does cause pain.  We have lots around this summer and they like this garden.  No, Pat, didn't get to take a picture of it.....Sure hope they really do die after stinging someone.  Forgiveness is great, but a dead wasp would be better  :)

Read this and found it interesting:

COME UNTO ME

"Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I
will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from
me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find
rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is
light" (Jesus in Matthew 11:28, NIV).

I have read how one of Denmark's leading sculptors had a
consuming ambition to sculpt the greatest statue of Jesus
Christ ever made. He began by painstakingly shaping a clay
model of a triumphant, majestic figure. "This will be my
masterpiece," he stated on the day the model was
completed.

However, during the night, a heavy fog rolled into the area
and sea-spray seeped into the sculptor's studio through a
partially open window. In the morning he was shocked to see
his model. The droplets of moisture that had formed on the
statue created the illusion of bleeding. The head had
drooped. The facial expression had melted into compassion.
The arms drooped and expressed welcome. The artist was
horrified and was aghast at having to start all over
again.

However, as he kept looking at his statue of the Savior,
his thoughts began to take on a different shape. He
realized that his image of Christ was much closer to
reality. He then wrote his caption and placed it under the
figure: "Come unto me!"

Pleasant day all and God Bless.

Liz

WELCOME BACK, PAT!!! We are all so happy to hear the computer problem "wasn't much."  Whew!

I took the kids to the park and let them play for about an hour and a half, then after we had lunch they wanted to paint.  So the boys have oil paintings started, and Abby made a lion mask.  She worked really hard on it, and was disappointed it didn't scare Dad and her brothers when we met them on the hill to pick up Justin. ??? 8)

When I walked into the exhibition building at the fair in Hugoton last night, this is what met my eyes.

The ribbon on the one of the Great Wall of China is also blue.  (For you Canadians, blue is first place here.)  So I am a happy camper!  The boys picked them up for me this morning when they were released.  I will take better photos of each to post later, but thought it would be fun to show you the ribbons. ;D ;D  The big purple rosette is Grand Champion, and the smaller purple is Reserve Champion.
