Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

TAKE TIME TO BE QUIET

"All I want is to have a little peace and quiet."  Words like these from a frustrated mother or a harried father echo the sentiments of almost everyone these days.  We live in a noisy world.  Think of the sounds that we hear all the time in our homes.  The hum of the refrigerator, the air conditioner, the noise of the vent fan, the sound of the dishwasher, the coffee maker, clothes washer and dryer, the ticking of a clock, the food blender, the stereo, radio or television---plus the ringing of the phone, and now we have even added Ipods to the mix!  All these sounds are so common we hardly realize they are there.  On top of this we have the sounds of quarreling children, the neighbor's lawn mower and the passing traffic.  And it is no better at the shop or office.  There are sounds that are different that continue all day long.  Harry Still, in his book In Quest of Quiet, says, "The noise of civilization has risen so high that more than half of our population may experience a gradual and partial deafness."

Into this frustrating picture we insert the Word of God. "Be still, and know that I am God," or "In quietness and confidence shall be your strength."  These are God's prescriptions for our soul's need.  Robert Murray McCheyne said, "A calm hour with God is worth a whole lifetime with man."  If we want to accomplish anything for God we must take time to be holy.  It was Pascal who remarked, "One-half of the ills of life come because people are unwilling to sit down quietly for thirty minutes to think through all the possible consequences of their acts."

Jesus Christ is the source of

our peace and quietness.

Slow down.  Be Still.  Let Him

calm the storm in your soul.

Faith

I have faith in God to help me live my life to my greatest potential.

What does "walking by faith" truly mean in the course of our everyday lives? Walking by faith, we trust God to help us live our lives to our greatest potential. Walking by faith, we place our ultimate confidence in God, knowing that divine order is active in our lives at all times and under all circumstances.

Above all, walking by faith means that when we look around us at a world that sometimes seems senseless and chaotic, we can go into the silence and experience the presence of a kind and loving God. Our Creator will care for us and for those we love during our time of need.
As we walk by faith, we can truly cast worries aside and--in all that we say and do--embrace God's goodness in our lives.

"So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord--for we walk by faith, not by sight."--2 Corinthians 5:6-7

I am having all kinds of computer and email problems, hope to get things sorted out today, but right now I must go take Beth to the doctor.  Be back later to explain.

Sorry I didn't get the NEM posted before you got here, Marilyn.  :-\

Hi everyone.  It is cloudy here today with some rain predicted.  However, the temperature is delightful as it is only 72 degrees at this time.  Just back from coffee at the cafe.  There were not many folks at the cafe this morning, including at our table.  A couple of the guys waited to watch the safe return of the space crew and then came to the cafe.  Pat called me to tell me the astronauts were safely on the ground.  I am sure that America, and probably many people throughout the world, gave a collective sigh to know that they were safe.

Samantha it is nice to read that your Lasik surgery was successful.  Hope the improvement continues.

Nothing new here since I posted late last evening.  In an hour we have our monthly luncheon at the local senior center.  Pat fixed a couple of dishes to take to share.  I am going to go but not sure she will attend as she isn't feeling real well this morning.  She laid back down after she had breakfast and fixed the dishes to take.  Don't have anything else on my schedule today.

Hope all have a good day.  This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:23-25

Nita ~ Yesterday morning gas in Noblesville was $2.29.9.  Last evening it was $2.49.9.  I think it is because the State Fair starts tomorrow so more people will be using gas.  Any time the price raises drastically, you can think of an event that lots of people go to and uses gas to get there.  I think you mean gas where you are is $2.61 instead of $1.61, don't you?

Al ~ As everyone knows....everything is higher in California!  Even some people, they say!

Babycakes38 ~ Glad you are one who downsized their driving vehicle.  I see those gas guzzlers on the road and think....What are they thinking?  Glad you like your car.

Jen ~ Glad to see you back from your trip and that you had a great time.  It is always great to get away but better to be back home again.  Once you get all that laundry done, you can relax....for a few minutes!

JudyB ~ Sounds like you will be busy altering a bride's dress and making 4 bridesmaid dresses by the 19th.  I sure hope they are simple dresses and material that is easy to sew.  Uh, I think I will take my $2.49.9 US gallon prices.  Yours is higher yet!

Pat ~ Sorry you are having web problems.  Or is it pc problems.  Whatever.  Hope you get your emails soon.  And feed that grandson.  He will eat when he gets hungry!

Nards ~ Hello.  Good to 'see' you, too!

Papa John ~ Hi there!  Sounds like you and Cornelia had a great Gods Day.  I like eatting at those food courts but I really don't frequent malls that much.  That is down in Indy where lots of traffic is so I don't go there much.

Ruth Ann ~ Home you feel better today.  Are you working away from home now?

Larry ~ Sounds like you had a time with your computer.  I just hope mine keeps on going since Jerry is gone.  He was my computer fixer upper.  Miss him.

Marilyn ~ What did you do to cause you pain again?  Did the traction help?

Janet ~ Thanks for the devotional.  I could hear some of those noises mentioned as I was reading plus a crying cat wanting the faucet turned on for her drink.

Well, today I need to mow the grass again.  Five days apart.  Too much.  But this humidity at night is like a gentle rain.  You can't walk in grass at night without getting your shoes sopping wet.  I just looked outside and I still see water droplets on the grass and it is 9:15 a.m. here.  But not too bad in heat...75°.  When I got up, it didn't seem as humid as usual...not as muggy and sticky.  But I know when I get out there, it will be hot!

Ali is done drinking now!!

Good Day all,  We may or may not have a roof installed beginning today.  After all, no one can understand the workers - they are probably all illegals & nothing is ever done about that.  Even if people call in situations, the INS says they are overwhelmed - what a situation in our country that we are turning over to children and grandchildren.  5 of the patio homes here are having new roofing installed this year and one is completed and we think we are next but who knows?

Larry:  I missed seeing th shuttle land in CA.  I was hoping that it would be New Mexico for a change.  I am sorry to hear Pat is not feeling well today.  She is good about "listening to her body" and resting.  Tell her that I am making a pinwheel king-sized quilt & will have to make 36 of the pinwheels - my own design which I change as I go along.  I am using Batik for this part of the pattern.  Well, she will understand.   ;)

Janet:  I sent you an email & wondered if you had received it.  Will check in here later  Thank you for today's devotion.

I need to get showered and dressed for who knows if anyone will be walking on the roof today.  Carol

P.S.   New posts while I was typing.

Etta Sue:  What beautiful diamonds with the roses!  you are so creative.  Have fun mowing....

Pat:  Thanks for the song - you always have a song in your heart.  Enjoy your day.

Well Etta Sue I didn't do anything the traction is supposed to be a ongoing thing. I should have continued it twice a week here at home and did not, now I know better. Anyway whent he pain comes I do the traction. Now I am pain free again.

Carol it sounds like you are making a beautiful quilt. I have been wanting to either start another quilt or crochet another afghan, but with the  anticipation of the move to happen at any time I have not started anything.  I haven't even gone back to packing much, although I am getting everything washed, rugs, blankets, quilts, drapes etc. because when I get the new place I may not be able to afford the laundromat right way and my washer and dryer may not get hooked up with no hookups available.

Jane Walker

Good morning all!  :D

Marilyn, I read your devotional before Janet got this NEM opened, and just read it again.  Thanks.  Living by faith is all I know.   ;)

And, Janet, the devotional for today is very appropriate.  I love the quiet times.  I agree, however, this is a noisy society in which we live.  That's when a walk in the woods, or a time at the ocean, with the Lord can really help.

Etta Sue~I love your "diamond roses" today!

I'm off to check some of the other discussions so I'll be talking with you later .... Have a great day, whatever you are faced with.  ;)
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass .... it's about learning to dance in the rain!

Janet

As usual, I have been trying to do too many things at once.  I was typing the devotional (much more work than copy and paste!) and was nearly finished, and lost it!  So I went to Word and redid it, copied and pasted from there, then didn't have time to do the banners, etc.  Thanks, Pat, for coming to my rescue.

I was thinking about the need to "Be still and know"........thus the subject today.  Yesterday when I felt just rotten, I told Abby I was going to lie down for a while and to please not wake me for one hour.  She let me sleep for an hour and 15 minutes!  Bless her heart, she wanted me to "do something fun" with her, like we usually do.  Not fun for her OR Grandma when I am sick.  I just hope she doesn't catch this stinky old "bug."

No, Carol and Etta Sue, I'm so sorry, but I didn't get your email.  For some reason, I am not getting emails from anyone here on CP. :'(  I wish I could figure it out; also am not getting ANY email notifications of new posts on CP.  Carol, could you re-send?  Maybe it will come through today (I hope.)

Taking Beth to the doctor today was a real ordeal for me.  By the time I got her back into her house (a real struggle!) and got home, I was exhausted and in tears!  But God gives me the strength day by day to do what I have to do.  Praise His name.

I am going to lie down again.  I do feel stronger than yesterday, but the trip to town wore me out, and I don't want to overdo and get clear down.

Sorry for not responding to each of you, but I do read every word here, love you all, and will do better next time.

Nita

Hi all.  Yes, yes, yes.......I did mean $2.61.  Wouldn't it be nice if it was $1.61??

Be still.  Be quiet.  This is my theme song. :)  I could never live (unless the Lord changed me a lot)where there is constant noise, chaos, etc.  I seem to need much quiet.  Janet, good for you for giving yourself 1 hours to be still.  And bless Abby's heart for taking care of gramma and giving her that extra 15 minutes.  I bet that was a long 15 minutes for her too. :)

I just came in from cutting some dead limbs from some of my flowering trees.  I see spiders everywhere!  Big intricate webs in all the trees and bushes.   Ugh!  They work so hard and I rip them up.

Gotta run now.  Grandson is needing a ride.  Later.  Nita

Here I am again just a slight pause in my day. I am going to be at Gilbert's spending time witht he grandkids while the brakes on my car are being done.  Gilbert will be working out in his shed blowing glass. Sarah is home though.

Carol, I told Pat of your quilt project and she did know about batik and the pinwheel design.  She said to tell you that a king sized quilt was the first one she ever made and also the last king size quilt she ever intends to make.  Hope the roofers get to your roof soon.

Janet, I am sure Abby doesn't realize how tired and puny feeling you may be as the young ones have so much energy.  Enjoy your hours with her and hopefully it helps take your mind off of some of the things you have been dealing with.

Etta Sue, that is a very pretty graphic.  Did you make it in PSP?  The people around here are having to mow their yards and trim shrubs very often as well as it has been so wet.  Etta Sue, I did find out today that my uninterruped power suppy battery is apparently fine as when I unplugged it from the wall the computer kept right on working so the battery kicked it as it is suppose to.  I am not going to use the software which came with it as that is apparently what caused me the problems yesterday.  Everything seems to be working today.

Hi Jane, Pat, Nita, and Marilyn and anyone I have missed naming.  Jen I did mean to post yesterday that I was glad to see  you and Luke were home from the nice trip.  It sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Samantha

Good Afternoon all -

My visit with the eye dr went very well.  He said that I am still at 20 - 15 which is great!  And I should be able to stop using the eyedrops gradually, although I only use them once or twice a day as it is.

Terry, my husband, made it home from his trip safe and sound.  I've prayed many a prayer for his trips because he goes through Birmingham, Alabama during the morning rush hour.  There are maniacs out there that time of day! Praise the Lord, he's brought him home safe every time!

Marilyn - have you already found you a new home?  I feel like I missed something there.   ???

My early morning is catching up with me.

Carol

I spent a few hours working on the my old Singer featherweight machine.  The problem is that I bought bobbins for that particular machine that were made in China & I can see that they are more rounded - and I threw all of those away and had to go to a specialty shop that sells the real stuff.  It is annoying to say the least & I try so hard not to buy things made in China.   That is not even an important event in my life and it shouldn't bother me.

Janet:  Bless your heart - I just want to send a big hug to you.  I will try to send that information to you.

Marilyn:  Somehow, I have not known you were ready to move once again and I surely do hope and pray that this is a great move for you.  Understand about not wanting to put money into those machines for rugs and so forth.  If you can ever find one, try to get a front loader.  I don't have to take rugs or the big things to the laundromat anymore as it doesn't go off balance.  I hope that you can get something like that as well.  Praying for you Marilyn!!!!

Larry:  Roofing will not be today as they chose a different house.  We think it will be next week.  I am only going to make the tops of the kings from now on unless I decide to tie a quilt - these are gifts and I send them out for machine quilting.  Am sure the kids have no idea as to how much that costs me.  But - have to be even and fair with four children and I have made two so far.  I hope Pat is feeling better.

Samantha:  Very happy with the news of your eye exam.

Carol

Janet

I am feeling better after a short nap.  And Darrel is feeling better after a trip to the chiropractor.

I forgot to mention that I took Abby to meet her Daddy yesterday evening.  She likes spending time with him, too, so when he got finished with his day's work, he came to meet me and pick up his little girl.  ;D  Jeff is a wonderful son in law, husband, father, Christian and friend.  I am so glad he is part of our family, I appreciate him so much. (And he even loves his mother in law!)  ;) Diane got home late last night.

Larry, I wish you lived near enough to pop over and help me with my computer troubles!  >:(  :(  Very frustrating.

Jen, glad you and Luke are safely back home and that you had a good time in New Brunswick.  I never see that name without thinking "bowling!"   ;D

Etta Sue, are those roses and diamonds for ME?  ;D  I love them!

Carol, still no email-------if you could put it into an instant message on here, I would get that, I think.  And thanks for the hugs, I really needed those today.

Samantha, if I had known the lasik surgery would be available in only one more year, I would have waited and gotten that, instead of the RK I had.  Two people in our church have had it recently.

I think I will go watch our church team play softball tonight.  They are playing for the championship, having beaten the Rose Lane Church of God and the Catholic church teams last night in back to back games.  Tonight they play the MDs.  That is a team from various churches who didn't have enough people playing to field a team, and they tell me they are good!  (Multi-denominational=MD.}  ;)  The game is to be at 7:30, so shouldn't be so hot out by then.

One of the guys asked me why I am not playing, since I am so young.  I answered that I decided not to take a chance of hurting myself and making me not so young!  ;D

Pat - it was  indeed the proper thing to do to post "This is the Day" right after that frog!  I think they call that "atonement!"

Ruth Ann Bice

Hi, friends, I worked at home today, so got my son to bring the cord here to my home computer after I signed off for the day. I'm trying to work at home as much as possible to save steps. And, Leslie adjusted the crutches, so hopefully my carpal tunnel will not flar up and make my hands numb as they were.

Marilyn, yes those exercises really help. Hope your move is accomplished right away.

Jane and Nita, thanks for the messages today.

And, I'm glad the lasik surgery went well.

Etta Sue, I'm trying to be a "good girl" and do all doc says.

Janet, thanks for the devotional. I understand about doctors and office buildings and hassles and tired to the point of tears. Blessings on you.

I've not touched on all the posts, but please know I read them all and "make comments" as I'm reading the posts.  :)

Y'all have a good evening.

Boo Hoo I didn't get that house in Eureka, howver, I see one advertised right here in Mckville so I will call there tomorrow morning first thing. I don't think God wants me to leave McKville and neither does my church family. The one here has the washer and dryer hookup so I am taking that to God in Prayer.

Darrel and I went out to watch our church team play in the championship softball game.  It was a good game, and we were leading until the last inning, then got run over!  We lost 20-27 I think.  But it was an enjoyable game, and there was a great group of us there to cheer them on.

Time to hit the hay!

Hi, Nita, will you be working from home tomorrow?  I still want to call you, or would that interrupt your work?  I don't want to be a problem!  And thanks for understanding.  I know you have far more to deal with than I do, and I admire you SO much. (((hugs)))

Well it has been quite a day here in Po-ville as Melaura calls our town.  John shouold be home tomorrow.  That will be nice, I hope they dont send him right back out, his log book hours are creeping up there.

There was a real big storn here today.  Lots of wind and finally rain.  Just before the rain we went for a swim and that was really refreshing.

I work tomorrow, and our friend's daughter is coming for a couple of weeks to spend time with the girls.  I look forward to her visits, s I am Gramma Judy, and have the chance to spoil her.

Janet and Ruth Ann I will continue to pray for you.  The rest of you  that I haven't mentioned, you are in my prayers as well.

Love to all
