How To Enter Into His Rest
Psalm 37:5-7 says...
Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
[/list]
Philippians 4:8, 11-13, 19 says...
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Morning Devotional...The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalm 23:1
Psalm 23 has been called, "The Pearl of the Psalms."
Probably no other words in the Bible are better known than "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want."
In this beloved hymn of David we learn many precious truths:
*beneath me--green pastures
*beside me--still waters
*with me--my Shepherd
*before me--a table
*around me--protection from my enemies
*after me--goodness and mercy
*beyond me--the house of the Lord.
What great comfort these truths minister to broken hearts and weary pilgrims.
--W. Ross RaineyFollowing Jesus, ever day by day,
Nothing can harm me when He leads the way;
Darkness or sunshine, whate'er befall,
Jesus, the Shepherd, is my All in All.

Gary Shaver
We're really glad
to see you here!
Psalm 7 : 1 NIV
O Lord, my God, i take refuge in You;
save and deliver me from all who pursue me...
Who or what is pursuing you ?
Is it a past mistake?
Is it an old enemy?
Is it your conscience?
Is it a nagging sense of quilt?
Is it someone who wants to do you physical harm?
Is it a physical illness?
In the middle of all the storms and struglles of life,
where do you go find peace and security?
There is only ONE who can be a true and
lasting refuge. JUST ONE!
PRAYER...
Father God, you are my
refuge and source of strength
when my courage is gone
and my soul is weary.
Please dear Father,
destroy all the forces and powers
and enemies that pursue me
and seek to take me captive
and draw me away from You.
In Jesus name i pray. AMEN.
PHIL WARE.

Nice one, Marilyn!
Ria - glad to see you mention the Tour de France. I really want to see Lance Armstrong win this year, because it will be 6 wins for him and no one else has that many, I think. I'm not a big Lance Armstrong fan, but his comeback from cancer has been amazing. Karma and I are both pulling for Tyler Hamilton. Go Tyler! Go Tyler! He rode for over two weeks of the race last year with a broken collarbone and finished fourth, I believe. Absolutely amazing guy.
For those who don't follow le Tour, let me just say this - it's an amazing bout of human strength and endurance. It might not make a lot of sense how it works, but basically, those guys ride between 100 and 130 miles for 18 out of 23 days, and on two or three of the other days, they ride like 35 or 40 mile "time trials". On the "rest days" they usually still get out and "leisurely" (maybe 5 mph slower than race speed) ride 50-75 miles to keep from losing their legs.
Lance Armstrong has made an amazing comeback from brain cancer and won five Tours. Inhuman. He has never been caught using any illegal drugs, either. Of course, he is the most focused individual I have ever heard of.
Anyway. Enough boring sports discussion :)
Hope all of you have a great day!!!!

Wonderful thoughts today, Pat and Ria! Yes, "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." It is vital to control our thought life. Our pastor always told us "You need to think about what you're thinking about!" And that verse plainly tells us what to think about..........whatever is just, lovely, of good report, etc.
I also love Psalm 23. Probably more people have memorised that passage than any other than John 3:16. I just saw a report of a pilot who was shot down over Iraq in the first Gulf war, and that psalm helped him keep his sanity and keep his focus on his Shepherd during 43 days of imprisonment and torture in the Iraqi prisons. Praise God!
I have stuff to do today before class time. Also want to get another letter off to Curtis, I would like to write hime every day while he is in field training. He cannot receive any phone calls or visits, so I'm sure letter will help. Darrel told me that the almost seven years he was in the Army, even while in Viet Nam, he never ever received a letter from any of his grandparents, only about 6 from his mother, and one from his brother. Can you imagine??? :-\ :'( Curtis will never have to say that!
Here is a little smile for you today:
DURING a visit with a friend at an assisted living center, I was invited to stay for lunch. As we entered the cafeteria, she leaned toward me and whispered, "They have two lines here. We call them cane and able."

Wouldn't you know. The day that I am in a rush to get caught up so I can do other things is the day this pc is running like a snail. Go figure.
Nards ~ The only good snake is a dead snake. Thank God, the snakes around here are little grass garter snakes. Jerry says I ran over one while mowing in the yard. I didn't see it and I didn't go back and look for it either. One did get on my driveway and died on its own. Probably froze since it was cold outside.
My mind just ran blank. I can't think of a thing I was going to say in reply to any one. Oh, yes!!!

Hi guys!
Happy CANADA DAY everyone!
So, what's the difference between bugs and insects? (This is a serious question.)
Take care all
Bugs and Insects[/b] (http://teacher.scholastic.com/researchtools/articlearchives/bugs/)
Bugs (http://www.insects.org/class/index.html)
Probably no difference?
WOW, what problems trying to get in this morning.
Thanks to whoever helped me get here.
Probably did something wrong; but hopefully straighten out now.
I miss getting in and "talking" to you all but read a lot as
"guest" while waiting for my password.
Do have a Happy Day all you Canadians.
Have a Happy 4th all others.
Traveling tomorrow and will be gone till Tues/Wed.
I will have my mom and aunt with us; trying to get more pixs of everyone.
Took great pixs of deer with their little ones--the newborns are arriving and coming in sets of twos.
I hope the pixs of the "twin deer" come out---so little
and cute little spots all over them; with their wobbly knees....
Talk to you later,
Love in Christ,
Joyce
Ria - last year there was good TV coverage of the Tour. Of course, we don't have a TV, but there was good coverage :) I'm looking forward to following it again this year.
Joyce, I don't understand what problems you are having with your password.
Don't you always stay logged in? What are you waiting for when you say, "waiting for your password"...
I was just listening to the TV news and heard this question. I never knew this before...
Where did Babe Ruth hit his first Home Run?
EWWWWWW BUGS!!
Yep! Marilyn!!! Bugs! LOL
Wow - I hope none of you ever have to buy what I just had to buy! $90 for a pair of socks! Well, compression stockings. If I have to do that very often we'll have to learn to eat socks, put socks in the gas tank, wash our clothes in socks, etc.
Wow! Are they made in Germany, Al? Jack's were and they were $86.00 a pair back then. He had three pair.
I sure hope that they help. They helped Jack. He never went without them.
It may be Canada's BD, but it is also our wedding anniversary...44 wonderful and delightful years w/my BW. Actually we've known each other, all told, 47 yrs .
Not been here abouts lately. My putor crashed like everyones alse's has done lately. Some kinda virus ate up my reboot sector and that in turn hosed my Windows XP. Those are my nephew terms, not mine. I'm not that computer literate.
He spent 4 hrs re-installling and transferring my date from one hard-drive to another. I am so glad that Mike & Amy help out their poor old Uncle Ed....and Mike wouldn't take anything for his work. "Your family, no charge."
I won't be around here much in the next week as we prepare to leave for a month. HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE.
PAT: I've been sorta following the near death experience of your car. I hope someone comes you way and fixes it for you at a VERY reasonable cost.....like for parts only!! I'll pray for just that....as I already have been doing.
I just helped my son put a set of heads on his truck. He didn't quite know how to go about it so I let him do the hard labor and I stood by and told him what he did...right and wrong.
When he fired it up after we set the valves and the timing...a broad grin appeared on his thankful face. "Now if I could only get the '71 Chevelle running as good as this truck," was his next comment. I told him to get it to my house an 1.5 hrs from his place and I'd see what I cuold do for him.
Eddie, I just noticed your little quote "worry brings tomorrow's clouds over today's sunshine." Very good, and true. Congratulations to you and your wife on your 44th wedding anniversary!!
After making sure I had a letter in the box to go to Curtis, the mail carrier didn't take it! :-\ >:( :( So in the morning, I will take it to town and put it in the post office myself!
No news here, just catching up with the posts.
A good little story for you...........
What You Are Is As Important As What You Do
By Patricia Fripp
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma City. My friend and proud father Bobby Lewis was taking his two little boys to play miniature golf. He walked up to the fellow at the ticket counter and said, "How much is it to get in?"
The young man replied, "$3.00 for you and $3.00 for any kid who is older than six. We let them in free if they are six or younger. How old are they?"
Bobby replied, "The lawyer's three and the doctor is seven, so I guess I owe you $6.00."
The man at the ticket counter said, "Hey, Mister, did you just win the lottery or something? You could have saved yourself three bucks. You could have told me that the older one was six; I wouldn't have known the difference." Bobby replied, "Yes, that may be true, but the kids would have known the difference."
As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Who you are speaks so loudly I can't hear what you're saying." In challenging times when ethics are more important than ever before, make sure you set a good example for everyone you work and live with.
That one is a good lesson Janet.
I have been grocery shopping after work and stocked up on stuff for the freezer. am all set for quite some time now except for dog food. It is less expensive at Kmart so willg et that there.
Haven't seen any bugs lately, I guess I will have to go outside and HUNT bugs. :o 8)
TTYL
What fun you're going to have, Marilyn! Get some good ones!
Time to lock the door.
