JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

Jesus on Law, Anger, and Lust
Matthew 5:17-30  NLT

17"Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to fulfill them. 18I assure you, until heaven and earth disappear, even the smallest detail of God's law will remain until its purpose is achieved. 19So if you break the smallest commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God's laws and teaches them will be great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

    20"But I warn you--unless you obey God better than the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees do, you can't enter the Kingdom of Heaven at all!

21"You have heard that the law of Moses says, `Do not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.'  22But I say, if you are angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the high council. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.

    23"So if you are standing before the altar in the Temple, offering a sacrifice to God, and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, 24leave your sacrifice there beside the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. 25Come to terms quickly with your enemy before it is too late and you are dragged into court, handed over to an officer, and thrown in jail. 26I assure you that you won't be free again until you have paid the last penny.

27"You have heard that the law of Moses says, `Do not commit adultery.' 28But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29So if your eye--even if it is your good eye--causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your hand--even if it is your stronger hand--causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

How do Jesus' views compare with yours?

   Some believe that if lustful thoughts are sin, they might as well do the lustful actions, too.  This is harmfull in several ways:

      1)  It causes you to excuse your sin rather than eliminate it.

      2)  It destroys marriages.

      3)  It is deliberate rebellion against God's Word.

      4)  It always hurts someone else in addition to yourself.

   While desire is not as dangerous as action, it is just as damaging to righteousness.  Left unchecked, wrong desires will result in wrong actions and turn you away from God.

My, my heart goes out to Janet, Darrel and Beth and the daughter that followed Janet to Amarillo.  My prayers are with you all.

Jeanne,  glad to see you posting.  We truly miss you.  Now that you found your way back, please don't go away again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SONJA!!

Well, all I can say about the MRI is I will NEVER EVER have another MRI again without being completely out!!  Terrible.  Now I truly know what panic attacks are.  I wish I wasn't this way.  I have never had a feeling this bad doing anything else ever and I won't ever do it again awake!!  But I knew if I pushed the panic button, I would have to start over again.  And no it wasn't the new kind.  In fact, it was in a semi-trailer out in the parking lot!  Weird.  And I had a drug called Buspirone...suppose to make you lasidazical!  (sp) Ha!  Didn't do a thing for me.  My heart starts beating out of my chest just thinking about it.  So I am stopping thinking about it.

Then this afternoon I drove the couple to Bloomington for his Speech Therapy.  A great day for a drive and we had a pitch-in for the end of the year therapy sessions.  None now until the 3rd week in January.  I got home by 9 p.m. so it has been a long, long day!

Let's remember that Jesus, Rose of Sharon is in complete control of this situation and He's with Janet and Darrel at this time.

Rose of Sharon
(Click to hear music)

Words and music by Alfred B. Smith and John Peterson

"I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys."
Solomon 2:1

There's a Beautiful Rose ever blooming,
In the Garden of God's Love for me;
It has filled all the world with it's fragrance,
It will last for eternity.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Precious Savior, I'll always adore Thee,
For with Thee no one else can compare;
By Thy Love so divine, I'm enraptured,
Thou are fairer than all of the fair.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me.

Are you lost in your sins ~ tired of living?
Is your heart filled with bitterness, too?
Come to Jesus, the sweet Rose of Sharon,
He has the power to make you anew.

Chorus
Rose of Sharon now blooming I see,
Blessed Jesus, who died on the tree;
With my whole heart I sing "Hallelujah!"
Rose of Sharon, so precious to me
.

Gotta go to work.

Nita

There are so many who belong to the Lord and are in need of prayer, either for themselves or family members.

I would like to ask for prayer for my grandaughter, who lives with me.  I  was so wanting her to be "ok" once she came here and got out from under her stepdad's regimented discipline.  Now she's just acting out, getting into trouble.  She wants nothing to do with God.  I try to tell her that Paul is not God, and God is not Paul, but that separation will only come much later, and if the Lord, in His mercy, steps in to draw her to Himself.

When you think of her, Angel, please pray for protection for her from the destroyer, and that she will have ears to listen with her heart and allow her to feel safe enough to let some walls fall.   My heart hurts for her.  And for her mom. :(

Jane Walker

Nita you can count on me to keep Angel bathed in prayer.  I know how our kids and grandkids can weigh heavily on our hearts.  She has been protected by Him for a lot of years and He will not let her fall.  Maybe allow her to stub her toes and even skin her knees, but He will still watch over her.  Remember the scripture that says if we train up a child in the way she should go, when she is old she will not depart from it.

Beth, thanks for the information on Darrel.  Having had 5 stents inserted in my heart let me assure you that he will probably be asked to take it easy tomorrow and then  will be able to resume his regular activities.  The stent is put in where there is a narrowing in the artery and is expanded to open up the narrowed area.  I would say, based on the information we have so far, that is a good report as there hasn't been any mention of his having a heart attack.  I will be glad to learn further details from your mother.

Another busy day and I just don't have time to write a long posting now.  I have read the postings and Nita I can read the worry in your message for your granddaugther and know it is tough.  She is watching you and while she may be acting out you are a role model for her.  I pray that God will keep her safe during these trying times and that she won't do anything that causes her permanent harm or problems.

Hi All@

Glad to hear that Darrell is on his way home.  thanks for keeping us updated , Beth.  Hope you are doing well too.

Nita, I will remember Angel in my prayers.  I've often found that acting out and "rebellion" is a good thing as that means that God is dealing with her and she is fighting back, the only way she knows how.  And we all probably know that we can fight with God, and resist Him, but in teh end . . .

Gotta go.  Tonight is the first night of my Mary Kay Customer Appreciation/Christmas Tea (it is tonight, tomorrow night and Saturday afternoon) and I've still got a bunch of stuff to do. . .

I've so appreciated reading your posts, Larry, in response to Beth or any of us with regard to Darrel.  You certainly have a knowledge in this area.   :(

Beth, I'm glad to hear that your Mum and Darrel are on their way home.

I too am glad to hear they're on their way home.  Certainly will be "standing by" for more on this.

I'm in agreement with Karmat on the "acting out," though I am also fully aware that it can be very hard on you, Nita.  But God will wonderfully use your loving example in the face of apparent indifference.  I pray He'll bring her to surrender to our Lord.

It's quit raining for the time being, but the satelite pic indicates it won't quit for long.  And all this weather will be rolling eastward for all of you to enjoy!

So many among us are ill and so many have problems too large for us to handle and it's at times like this that we must Kneel at the Cross!

Kneel at the Cross
(Click to hear music)

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name
that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confesss that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

by Charles. E. Moody

Kneel at the cross,
Christ will meet you there,
Come while he waits for you;
List to his voice,
Leave with him your care
And begin life a new.

Refrain
Kneel at the cross,
Leave every care
Kneel at the cross,
Jesus will meet you there.

Kneel at the cross,
Give your idols up,
Look unto realms above;
Turn not away
To life's sparkling cup;
Trust only in His love.

Refrain

This will be a quick one tonight - early to bed because it's early work tomorrow.

Thanks, Beth, for the latest word on Darrel.  Gene had an angioplasty in December 1994, but without a stent, after his multiple heart attacks.  His problem wasn't blockage, though, according to the doctor, but a "kink" in his artery which pinched off the flow of blood.  And it stayed straightened out for over 10 years.  In fact he had no heart problem, but a respitory staph infection when he died.
Prayers for Darrel's continued recovery and peace in all your hearts, knowing our Lord is in control.

Now good night to all.

Janet I see you online so I am waiting to hear the latest on Darrel.

Janet

Hello, dear friends!  My, what a week this has been!
I had told you that Darrel had gone to work on that big installation, and he wasn't supposed to DO anything----but he did, and the pain came back; he took a nitro (outdated  :-\) which didn't help at all, so he came home.

When he walked in, I was chatting with our sweet Mieka on MSN, and I told her I must go, and call the doctor.  They said bring him right in; and when we got there, they were waiting with the ekg machine at the ready.  Dr. Plumlee told him he was sending him across the street to the emergency room for blood work, chest X-ray and an IV line, then he was sending him to Amarillo by ambulance!  Darrel tried to argue with him, until I said "Darrel, I want you around for a LONG time yet, so whatever he says, you're going to DO it!"  Then the race was on........I stayed until they decided a few things in the ER, then rushed home to throw some things into a suitcase, call Beth and Diane, and get back; thinking I would have to follow the ambulance in my car, as I didn't want to be afoot in Amarillo.

But my sweet Diane called back and said she was going to follow the ambulance, for me to go with him, and that she would stay with me until it was over and bring us home.  Bless her, Lord!  Needless to say, I was pretty stressed out, and the phone was ringing every two minutes.  I wound up leaving without makeup, hair brush, or even a toothbrush!  But I did grab clean clothes for Darrel, and some soft velour sweats for him, which he really appreciated!

We stopped in Dumas (40 miles from Amarillo) for a pit stop and to grab a sandwich, as none of us had eaten (Darrel, the girl who was driving the ambulance, the girl paramedic or I) and were only there about 5 minutes.  When we got back in, the paramedic said "GO!"  His heart rythym was uneven----so off we went, and poor Diane was still in the restroom!  However, she was only about two minutes behind us, and walked up as they were unloading him from the ambulance!

Dr. P. had called Darrel's Cardiologist so he was expecting us.  He questioned him pretty hard, as he really didn't think it was his heart this time; the pain was in a strange place.  He asked if we were getting along?  Had he been under a lot of stress lately?  Was anyone threatening to sue him? etc....but ordered the nuclear stress test.  Darrel flunked that test, so it was off to the cath lab with him, and Dr. Friesen found another blockage, and inserted another stent.  He gave me the pictures, and said it was the main artery which supplies blood to the whole bottom half of the heart.  He said he was sure glad Darrel recognized the pain and came in when he did, because if that had plugged, he would have had a MAJOR heart attack.  He said he's been doing this for 34 years and never had anyone complain of pain in that particular place before.  (It started in his upper arm, then moved into the edge of his chest.)  Dr. said the pain is usually in the center of the chest.  Anyway----Darrel was in a lot of pain for some time after the procedure, but very relieved he didn't have to lie flat for 6 hours with sandbags on him!  They put in a collagen plug and a couple of stitches in the artery in his groin, so he only had to lie flat for 4 hours, and no sandbags!  :)  They didn't put him out, so he felt a lot of pain, but now it is over and he can get back to normal!  Praise the Lord!

Four years ago when he got the first stent, he had over three months of intense pain in increasing frequency, while they messed around treating him for acid reflux and other things.  So when it started this time he KNEW what it was, and didn't wait. (Even though he tried to wait until the 15th!  GRRR)

Also, I wanted to tell you all that the reason I wasn't in closer contact with Beth was because the dumb cell phone wouldn't work!  It worked on the way down, and on the way home----but not while in Amarillo!  :ticked:  And Diane doesn't have nationwide roaming so I didn't want to run their bill up.

Thank you all SOOOO much for the prayers and concern.  I KNEW people were praying for us, I could feel it!  And so could Darrel!  We all appreciate it so much, words are not sufficient to express it.  I will close for now before you fall asleep reading.

We love you all!!  <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
