Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Morning Devotional...

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58

You who have put your faith in the Saviour, are you still going on for Christ?

Have you been distracted by the things of this world and thus now find yourself floundering in the Sea of Life, discouraged and distracted?

It's time for a fresh look at the Saviour. Even after he witnessed the Lord's resurrection, the apostle Peter turned back to fishing and his old ways.

With a fresh look to the Saviour he turned his eyes from this earthly scene and went on in the Lord's work again—stronger, more steadfast and unmoveable.
—Jerry Proctor

Revive Us Again
(Click to hear music)

My foot standeth in an even place:
in the congregations will I bless the LORD.
Psalm 26:12

Author:  William P. Mackay, 1839-1885
Musician:  John J. Husband, 1760-1825

We praise Thee, O God,
for the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus who died and is
now gone above.

Refrain:
Hallelujah! Thine the glory,
Hallelujah! Amen;
Hallelujah! Thine the glory;
Revive us again.

We praise Thee, O God,
for Thy Spirit of light,
Who has shown us our Saviour
and scattered our night.

All glory and praise
to the Lamb that was slain,
Who has borne all our sins,
and has cleansed ev'ry stain.

Revive us again,
fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled
with fire from above.

Great devotional, Pat!  Thanks!  A fresh look is sometimes what it takes to stir us again.  Even reading about someone else's fresh look can be invigorating.

God bless all of you.  I'll try to check in tomorrow morning.

:) Hi ms Pat and Mr Bernard and every one.  <3

I did like the devotional today too.  I have a wonder so many times about the things of the world and which of them are wrong.  :-\  I am with my friend in the New York today and I SO love to shop but I did not buy any thing at all.   :uglystupid:

We did go to the St. Bartholomew's church here today and it is a most beautiful place.  I like to see all the places to worship God when I am in a new places.  Some have angels of stone and a most beautiful windows. I know God will not ever leave me,   I think perhaps He can hear me every place I am, yes? so it is perhaps silly when I like to pray in the church more.   ::) :)

I think about so many things today and friends and some who are now gone.  (I miss Mr Jerry here too :-[ )  I have a song in my heart but I do not know why.  8)  :idiot:  I think about so many things today.  I did read this summer and i did learn more about how to find the scriptures when I wish to find a answer.  It is still hard at times, but i am happy I can do it now.

:) Forgive me if I did not say a hi to every one.  I did read many days of the NEM and I laugh and cry with each of you and pray God will keep you in his love.  I love you all with all my heart and with all my heart I love you God.

:) ~mieka

Good Morning: Great devotional this morning Pat. Like Nards said sometimes someone else take on something gives you a new perspective.

This time of year is always rather sad for me as I miss seeing all my family and most of all I miss my sweet mother. It is nice that I am here near Gilbert and his family.

I am also thankful for all my computer friends who send me such nice things in  my email that cheer me up and keepme going. Sometimes I send these things on to others in my address book that I think might enjoy getting a happy email.

I spend so much time alone that  I guess I think everyone else is as joyful as I am to get the nice or cute things from me as well.  i have come to see that not everyone is pleased with the things I send.

I am sorry if I have offended any of y-all by sending things that you feel the need to analyze. I am publicly asking for your forgiveness.

It's so good to see you here, Mieka!  Remember what the Scripture says - "Search the Scriptures . . . for in them you have eternal life."  I'm glad you're finding answers there.

As for Christmas Carols, I love all of them.  I have my stack of Christmas CD's on the CD player right now and playing them randomly.  Kenny G's, Bluegrass, Elvis, Alan Jackson, Various Country Artists, Dixieland, Norman Rockwell, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, The Platters, Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, The Drifters and more.  I just found my Gaither CD and I am listening to 'Mary, Did you Know?'  I am happy that so many of you have it as your favorite also.

Marilyn ~ Send your emails to me anytime.  I may not reply that I like it  but I do read and listen and ponder.  Thanks for sharing.  I, too, like to share 'the really good ones' that I receive!

Mieka ~ New York?  Wow!  You are certainly a globe-trotter!!  So happy you stopped in for a post!  Always good to hear from you and know you are growing closer and closer to God everyday.

Jane ~ Perm, hunh?  Getting foxed up for Christmas, hunh?

All the others.....sorry, I didn't keep notes...God Bless All of You!

I got an invite to a Baby Shower yesterday for my great-niece.  I am one that likes to make Baby Afghans for new little ones.  But I didn't have any yarn.  I didn't feel like waiting until Thursday to go to WalMart because of the crowd and lack of parking spaces so today was trash day.  I put my trash in the trunk of the car, took it to Kaye Don's and then went to WalMart.  Did you know that WalMart has a parking lot under all those cars you see when you visit in the afternoon???????  Yes, there is a parking lot!  And the aisles were wide and spacious.  No one there at 7 AM!  I got my yarn and was out of there in a matter of minutes!!!

Now to get the afghan started......and done by December 29th!

I'll be back later tonight!

Silver Bells
(Click to hear music)

City sidewalks, busy sidewalks .
Dressed in holiday style
In the air
There's a feeling
of Christmas
Children laughing
People passing
Meeting smile after smile
and on ev'ry street corner you'll hear

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

Strings of street lights
Even stop lights
Blink a bright red and green
As the shoppers rush
home with their treasures

Hear the snow crunch
See the kids bunch
This is Santa's big scene
And above all this bustle
You'll hear

Silver bells, silver bells
It's Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, gear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast 35 degrees here today with some sleet and freezing rain predicted for some parts of the state a little north of us.  We should be all right here, just chilly.  However, our house is nice and warm, although we are keeping it cooler than we have in past years, so certainly have no complaints.

Our son was over this morning to help wrap up an old mattrice and box springs that our daugther was using and which we replaced with a new set today.  She had a twin bed size before and this is a double size.  The delivery man arrived just after he had the others ready to be taken away and then our son put the new bed together for his sister.  I fed him lunch.  Pat went to the church for her craft group but is home now.

Meika, nice to see you posting and I agree with Etta Sue, you certainly do get around this big world of ours.  This must be a nice time of year to visit New York City.

Marilyn, I believe if a person doesn't want to receive things via e-mail then it is their responsibility to so indicate.  We should not be offended if someone writes us and asks to be taken off of our distribution for those fun or happy items.  I am pretty picky about what I send on to people and I can always quickly mark things to be deleted if I don't have time to look at them.

Etta Sue, you found the right time of the day to go to Wal-Mart.  I often go early as you can get in and out quickly, especially at this time of the year.  I always wondered about these big stores that stay open 24 hours a day.  I can't imagine going to the grocery store at 3 a.m.

Jane, will we be seeing a new picture with your new hair style?  Glad you are able to get a permanent today as know that means a lot to a lady.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

Tonight is choir practice.  I am sure we will be preparing special music for the remaining Sunday's in the year.  I think we are going to be doing some of the pieces we did in our Christmas program last year.  Janet, I agree with you on the old carols.  I have all those in the music we do at Calvin Cove at this time of the year.

Well I need to get busy on some tasks before the afternoon is gone.

Marilyn~ I also am alone (don't even have any pets) and often have a hard time at this time of year.  My dughter was diagnosed the week before Thanksgiving and died the week after Christmas.  :'(  I miss her.  I don't have any family near by.  Joy is in Mexico and Dot is in Spokane.  My grandkids are (all but 2) in California and I am completely out of touch with any of them.  Lately I have not even wanted to decorate for the holidays because there's no one with whom to share, but I have put up a few (very few) items.  I know that I cannot allow my feelings to influence how I interact with others and I don't even think that would be honoring to the Lord.  After all, it is CHRIST who makes this season what it is.  It isn't about me anyway ... it's ALL ABOUT HIM!  :)

Etta Sue and Larry ~  Yup, I'm all permed now.  I don't know about any new photos because there isn't anyone to do the shooting.   :)  Actually the photo in my profile was taken shortly after the last perm I had, so you can just keep looking at that one.   ;)   Someone told me once that once you get a good photo of yourself you should stop right there!   I think that's good advice.

Well hello from VERY ICY OHIO !! Well, I am here to give you all a run down of what happened today & what will be happening.

7:30 am - Arrived at the hospital & checked in and waited till they called him into the PRE - REGISTRATION area & so we waited there till about 8:00 so he went over & filled out all sorts of paperwork & then around 8:30 another lady came & gave my husband a BANANA LIKE SMOOTHIE that would be the wonderful stuff that would help see what is going on within him. So, he filled out the paperwork & then drank down this stuff. Around 9:25 them came & got him & he went back 4 his CT SCAN. He was back there for what seem like forever but soon he came out & he told me what all they did. The woman that took the CT SCAN told him that the results would be back in 24 - 48 hours since there was a lot of pictures to look at ( 120 pictures ) it would take some time. So, we left the hospital & headed to get some LUNCH and so he ate just a small piece of fish from Long John Silver while I sat and had a seafood salad. We then made our rounds to pick up last minute gifts for the family. In the meantime my son who was home called me on the CELL PHONE to tell me that he hurt his ankle overnight & wanted us to get something for him. I told him that we would check things out !!

Our last stop was at WAL-MART to pick up a few groceries & while there my daughter called from school to check on her dad ( they let her call us since it was lunch time ) so we told her all was good. So, the principal sad that it was ok that we could come in and pick her up early as we really did not want to make a trip back up to get her. Good thing too because it was really snowing when we got the school & know we have FREEZING RAIN which will be turning to SNOW overnight & that will be bringing us anywhere from 4 - 8 inches of snow.

So, while here at home the DOCTOR OFFICE called us to let us know that my husband know that he has another APT. tomorrow with a GI SPECIALIST & so that's all I can say at this time ... so ladies I am asking that you please continue to keep us & esp. my loving husband in prayer & LORD WILLING I am planning on going with him tomorrow to see the specialist to see what is going on & if my loving husband will be needing surgery.

Thank you so much for taking time to read my LONG NOVEL & I shall see you all again soon.

PS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SISTER ... SUE !!
MAY THE GOOD LORD BLESS YOU ON THIS YOUR VERY SPECIAL DAY AND I PRAY THAT YOU HAD A WONDERFUL DAY !!

Jeanne Lee

Wow, Tbear, that was some busy day.  You must be ready to collapse.

We got down to -20 last night and only up to about 15 today.  No wind to speak of, though, so it didn't really feel that bad.  Tonight's supposed to be more of the same but tomorrow looks like a storm coming in.  Starting as snow late in th evening and possibly changing to sleet and freezing rain by mid-day Friday.

Tomorrow I'm supposed to go to be "examined" by the Elders before I can be installed again as a Deacon.  According to the Book of Order it should be done for each incoming three-year Deacon but somehow I haven't had it since my very first term - about 15 years ago.  We have a maximum of two three-year terms and then have to take off at least one year.  This time, however, I took over the last two years of one who resigned and then had a full three, so they voted me in for one more year to make a full six.  Sounds to me like it's splitting hairs, but I guess the nominating committee gets desperate - so many people won't serve.

This evening I got a phone call from a woman I've known for a long time in the American Legion Auxiliary but haven't seen for a few years.  She apologized first for not calling me sooner after Gene died and then, although I suppose the purpose of the call was to comfort me, she spent about twenty minutes telling me about all the troubles she's had over the last couple of years!

Just back from choir practice.  We had a short practice, only an hours, as we are familar with the pieces we will be doing through the 1st of the year.  We will not have practice the next two Wednesday evenings so have  a little break for the holidays, although we will be singing for each service.

Tbear, glad that procedure is over from your husband but sure this will be a long evening and night as you await the appointment tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by to let us know what had happened.  It sounds like it was good that you did not have to return to pick up your daughter today in that bad weather.

Jane, are there others around you that are not near family?  If so, perhaps you all could have a shared dish dinner.

Happy Birthday, Sue.

Jeanne, that is way too cold. BRRRR.  It seems rather redundant to have to be examined again.  It sounds like the lady who called you just needed someone to listen.

Marilyn

Well here I am again, not much to say, I feel a headache coming on and I have been sneezing all day long. I am not claiming to have anything or to be coming down with anything. I am a healthy person.

Today I bought 4 Pumpkin custard pies  two for Jan 1 for me, 1 for Fay, they were on sale for $2.99 each. Gilbert is coming tomorrow afternoon to put up my lights for me, I won't be here but the man across the street will bring over his ladder for Gilbert to use.

It pretty cold out there tonight and I am going out shortly for Bible study. everything was frozen this morning even the hose and I left the nozzle open, had to haul water from inside the house to thaw the windows and the door. I was able to unlock the door but had to pry it open it was frozen shut. Nothing like you weather tho' Jeanne and Tbear.

Jane I sent you an email. I totally understand how you feel, I spent many Holidays all alone down in the desert. No decorations and no holiday dinner.  I would go volunteer at the Senior Center  to serve the community dinner to the needy. I spent a lot of holidays there.

For someone with not much to say I sure said a lot didn't I?

How was your birthday Sue.?

A very late in the day Happy Birthday to Sue!  May god show His love to you in many ways during this coming year.

Marilyn, I don't mind any of the emails you send.  If I get too many building up in my inbox, I have to go back and delete, delete, delete.  But I always look at/read those from people I know.  :)

We are leaving early in the morning for Amarillo for Darrel's checkup with his doctor.  Also will do a bit of shopping, and if late, we will spend the night there.

We got word that Darrel's only Aunt is bad, following a fall, and her son says he is expecting the worst.  She is having difficulty breathing, sounds as if she may have pneumonia.  She broke her leg just below the hip.  That's his Mom's younger sister who lives in Eastern Kansas.

Our cantata practice went well tonight, and we found costumes to fit all who needed them, so that was a big relief!

I will have to check out those cookies, Pat.  We are to bake cookies and make sandwiches for after the cantata on Sunday night.

I must go and call Darrel's sister.............see you on Friday, probably.

Marilyn I got your email.

I want to clarify something.  I am not sad ... I do miss my daughter though, but that is just a fact that cannot be changed, no matter what day or season of the year it happens to be.  :-\

Last year I went to Dot's in Spokane for Thanksgiving and then, after a week in Sacramento with Joy and Bryan, stayed home for Christmas.

This year my neighbor invited me over for Thankgiving dinner and I will be going with them on Friday to their church's Christmas dinner for seniors.  I am sure I will find other things to do and even if I don't I am not feeling sorry for myself nor lonely.  I'm alone, yes, but not lonely.   ;)

I'm sorry I have not been that forthcoming with best wishes for all the birthdays and anniversaries celebrated here.  Is it okay if I just say one big HAPPY BIRTHDAY for everyone?  Well, I just did.   ;D  Hope it was all you ever dreamed or wished for.
