Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever.
Jude 1:25

Proverbs gives to us the storehouse of the wisdom of God. But in this compact, magnificent verse , Jude sets forth the solitary grandeur of God's wisdom in contrast with a world of foolishness.

It radiates the glory of His Saviourship, the majesty of His Messiahship, the dominion of His Creatorship, and the power of His Lordship.

To God be the Glory.
—Les Rainey

To God Be The Glory
(Click to hear music)

God and our Father:
To Whom be glory for ever.
Galatians 1:4-5

Words: Fanny Crosby
Music: W. Howard Doane

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Refrain
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Refrain

8)Well, looky here--I'm first in the door tonight.  Rather this morning, as it is 12:32 here in Kansas.

We aren't long home from Amarillo, and Darrel checked out fine, praise the Lord.  We took his Mom out to supper and had a nice visit with her.  She is 94 years young!  And still doing really well, she doesn't even use a cane to walk (althought she really should!)

As you might imagine, I am worn to a nubbin, so it's off to bed I go.  So much to get done these next few days.  Oh, my!

That's so good, Janet that he tested out fine.  Glad you posted here tonight.

We'll chat tomorrow.

Good Morning looks like I am first to get up and in the door this morning it is 6:25 on the West Coast. I  slept so much better last night I only woke up once during the night. Yesterday I went to the Co-op and bought some  herbal drops made up of Vallerian, scullcap, catnip, hops and passion flower. However I am not sure if I slept well because of the drops or because I was totally exhuasted. from no sleep the night before.

On to other things now.  I will be back .

Good day all!

I think we Shufords are about to get cabin fever.  The first thing Kristi said to me this morning was "Bye bye."  Last night when bernard got home, she looked at him and said, "bye bye"

It is COLD out there, though, so I don't know what we'll do. . .

Have a good one, and I'll breeze back through later.  Travis is wanting chicken for breakfast, so let's go see what we can find.

Glad things went well Janet!!

That's so cute, Karma!  Give Travis an egg!

There's a Song in the Air
(Click to hear music)

She gave birth to her firstborn, a son.
She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger,
because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:7

Words: Josiah G. Holland, The Marble Prophecy and Other Poems, 1872

Music: Christmas Song, Karl P. Harrington, 1904

There's a song in the air! There's a star in the sky!
There's a mother's deep prayer and a baby's low cry!
And the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing,
For the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!

There's a tumult of joy o'er the wonderful birth,
For the virgin's sweet Boy is the Lord of the earth.
Ay! the star rains its fire while the beautiful sing,
For the manger of Bethlehem cradles a King!

In the light of that star lie the ages impearled;
And that song from afar has swept over the world.
Every hearth is aflame, and the beautiful sing
In the homes of the nations that Jesus is King!

We rejoice in the light, and we echo the song
That comes down through the night from the heavenly throng.
Ay! we shout to the lovely evangel they bring,
And we greet in His cradle our Savior and King!

Good morning!  I hope all of you had a restful and refreshing night of sleep.

I'm just popping in to say hello before I get started on those Christmas cards.  I procrastinated too long so I didn't get any made this year from one of my paintings.  I really couldn't decide which painting to use....... :-\

Karma, thanks for sharing the "Kristi and Travis moments" with us---I love hearing about them.  So sweet.  <3

Since we came home last night instead of waiting until this morning, I have a few more hours to play catch up!  So I mustn't waste them here on the computer........

Love you guys, and see you all later!

Praise God!  I am not hurting today!  First time for nearly 4 months.  Most of my pain is when I rise from the bed or after sitting for awhile and no pain today!  Hopefully I won't have to return to a chiropractor in 2006!

TBear ~ Do be careful when visiting Rolan...even walking in this weather.  It is bright and sunny but the cars are still driving slow on the highway across the field from me.  I know you are north about 2.5 hours and it is colder there.  Tell Rolan he is in my prayers as you and the rest of the family are in my prayers, also.

Janet ~ So happy that Darrell got a great report.  And happy that you got to dine with Darrell's mother...94 years young!!

Today, I am staying home...in...where it is warm.  I will have to go to the mailbox but other than that, in where it is warm and toasty!  My solar heat just turned on...the sunshine is great!!!

Hi everyone.  After the icy day here yesterday it has been sunny and nice, up to about 50 degrees.  So all the ice is gone and we didn't lose power anymore last evening as I think the temperature was going up during the night and helped melt the ice.

I had to get to the Senior Center to unlock it this morning.  The man who has always done that for us has moved about 5 miles away and while he is not leaving the group it isn't convenient for him to come over early and unlock and go back home.  So it looks like I have a new responsibility.  He still is preparing the coffee pot and we will generally use a timer to start it so it will be ready.  However, due to the power situation yesterday it wouldn't have worked to put it on a timer so we had to wait about 40 minutes for the coffee to brew this morning--poor us!! :)

I went to a training session at 10 am at the county Senior Center.  Our computer learning center is going to help seniors signup for Medicare Part D (this is our new medicine program for Social Security people).  We will not be advising on what plan to select but rather working the computers at the Medicare site to provide comparative information on the various plans.  They really have an impressive website.

If you are trying to decide on a plan I would advise you go to that site at www.medicare.gov and work thru the self-directed process.  Once you identify the medicines youa re taking and your zip code and Medicare Number it will give you a listing of all the plans available to you in your area and the comparative costs overall for out-of-pocket expense.  You can signup from the website after you make your decision.

Janet, that is great news on Darrel's checkup.  Sure you are both greatly relieved.

Tbear, hope your husband gets some news today so the uncertainty can be eliminated and appropriate treatment initiated.

Al, I think the dentists are mining for gold in our mouths.  Guess they are trying to keep pace with the medical profession in the increase of costs.

Nita, I hope your fingers have thawed out.  :)

Etta Sue, what a cute graphic.  Of course, the caption is just a wee bit too close to reality at this time of the year.  :)

Karmat, hope you all will be able to get out this weekend.  Did you have a lot of ice yesterday?

Marilyn, glad you were able to sleep last night.

Pat, thanks for the devotional today.

Jeanne, those flickering lights are worrisome, espeically if you have your computer on.  We get that occasionally, but not too often.  Hope you aren't snowed in but suppose in your area of the country they have all the tools to keep the roads and things cleared.

I am about ready to have a quiet evening.

Samantha

Janet

Hello again!  I got most of my cards ready!  Yippee!  I love doing them, but also procrastinate something awful.... :-[  Anyway, I still have all of my family's to do, because I'm also working on the family reunion newsletter/my Christmas letter that will go with them.

Tomorrow is really busy and full, so I doubt I will be here much.

Diane called and invited us to go to the movies with them tonight!  :) :)  So we are going to see the new C.S. Lewis movie, The Chronicles of Narnia.  I have been hearing good reports on it.

Well, now I'm going to work on those letters!

Larry, you really need another job!  ;)  Those folks know on whom they can depend.  Bless you!

Let It Snow
(Click to hear music)

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I've bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm

The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbying
But as long as you love me so
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Pat, that song would have been very appropriate last night and this morning around here.   :)  We got another six inches of snow, but fortunately the sleet and freezing rain never got this far north.

This evening, around 5:30, suddenly the lights went very dim and my computer shut down.  I turned off the power strip and checked the neighborhood.  When I saw that all the Christmas decorations around here were dim I knew it wasn't just my house at least.  I called the power company to report a brown-out but all the automated stuff only allowed report of an outage, so I went along with that.  There's absolutely no way you can talk to a real person.  Grrrrr!  :clobber:

Apparently there wasn't enough power coming through to run the computer or the furnace and the lights were so dim I had to use a flashlight to get the phone number of the power company.  TV worked good and bright but some of the ads flickered.  Then about 6:00 everything went off completely.  I figured maybe they had to cut the power completely to fix whatever was wrong.  After about 5 minutes everything came back full strength.  Just long enough to foul up all the clocks.   :(

Anyway, seems like all is well now.

:'( Well ... I found a way to get to the hospital to be with my husband while he had his COLONOSCOPY & so it went as well as we expected. So, the DOCTOR came in and spoke with me & told me that he does have Crohn's Disease & there was some blockage & so they are going to be keeping in the hospital this weekend to be sure that the medication is working on him.  The kids & myself will be going back up in the morning to see him. So, he was in good spirits tonight when I called him to say GOOD NIGHT & that we would see him tomorrow. So, that is my update as it stands so thank you all very much for all the prayers that have been said for him. More again soon.

Jeanne Lee

Karen, it's bound to be a relief to know what is wrong and what can be done for it.  And remember, our prayers are not just for your husband, but for you as well.  I know what a strain this is on you.  :)

Please help me identify this gift that was given to me by Jan. It is an Antique and hung in her house. I admired it and she gave it to me. I have seen them hanging in the local Greek Restaurant. I am not sure but Ithink it  may be and incense burner.

Karen, we'll continue to pray for you both as Jeanne has said.  Thanks for the update.

Marilyn, I have no idea what that would be.

Yes, Jeanne, lots and lots of snow around here the last couple of days.

Marilyn, it sure looks to me like an incense burner.  How far down from the ceiling does it hang?  Looks like it would be hard to light it.

My back's getting cold which means the thermostat has dropped down to 60 (set to do that at 10:00 p.m.) so I guess I'd better get into bed where I'll be warmer.
