Oldiesmann: I'm not aware of any Jenny. Not sure why activity has died down on this site so much though 2023-06-12, 00:06:36

JennyW: Also, does anyone know other photo sharing sites that are Christian? 2023-05-16, 08:47:03

JennyW: Hello Everyone! I really miss activity on this site. I've been discouraged by photography sites where you have to sort through so much explicit content in order to see photos that truly glorify God. I'd love to see this site pick up again. 2023-05-16, 08:46:36

Janet: Carol, I am just reading this.  So sorry for your loss, glad your beloved Don knew the Lord and you have the assurance of his eternity  and that you WILL see him again.  Much love to you.  Janet 2022-06-18, 08:49:36

Morning Devotional...

When Jesus heard these things, He marvelled.
Luke 7:9

And He marvelled because of their unbelief.
Mark 6:6

On only two occasions do we read concerning the Lord Jesus that He marvelled.

Once He marvelled at the faith of a Roman centurion, and once He marvelled at the unbelief of the men of Nazareth.

The Gentile, with his disadvantaged pagan background, brought the Saviour pleasure by believing.

His own people, Jews of Nazareth, dishonored Him by their unbelief.

May we believe His Word, implicitly and unreservedly, and bring Him joy by trusting Him.
--Jim Flanigan

'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
(Click to hear music)

Author:  Louisa M. R. Stead, 19th Century
Musician:  William J. Kirkpatrick, 1838-1921

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, "Thus says the Lord!"

Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Refrain

Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

Refrain

I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Refrain

Good to see you here, Nards.  At least something must be working!  I have to get moving now, as I have a doctor's appt. at 8:30 this morning.

Carol

Hello to all before we rush off for errands.

Janet:  Sorry about your lack of sleep - I had a difficult time this year after returning from Europe.  It makes doing things a little dangerous.  Oh, so happy that Beth is meeting with John!  My prayers for both of them.

If anyone has any idea, I sure could use beginning free sites for working on my Paint Shop Pro 7 - I am going to wrestle the laptop computer from Don and try to really learn this when we will be in Arizona for two months.  Not bringing my sewing machine so I am serious about trying to learn this after having it for such a long time.

If any of you are using Celebrex - there is a warning out now about an increase in heart problems.

Papa John:  Sorry about the elevator problem you had on such a day in your life.

Larry:  It is good that you are doing so well & resting when needed.

Pat:  It sounds like your cold is better -

Karen (TBear) - I am going to look for your clam chowder recipe.  Mine is made in a crockpot.

Etta Sue:  I so enjoy reading your daily notes & how nice to have your sister near and hello to Jerry as well.

Al:  Just noticed you popping in for a minute.  Good wishes on your appointment.

The Lion's Club Christmas dinner was really nice.  It was held at Third Phase.  Third Phase is a very old home and was used as an underground railroad in slavery days.  It has been a Nursing Home, a restaurant and now a home for abused/abusive women.  Women who have abused drugs and/or alcohol or have been abused by boy-friends, parents or spouses and need a place to stay can come there.  Most of these women have a child or two.  But they can apply and if accepted they can stay there up to a year.  It is a Christian home and must participate in devotion morning and evening.  If they are at the home, they must sit at the table for their meals.  If they are working outside the home, that is great.  Two lady ministers run this home.  They teach the women skills such a cooking, canning, gardening, housekeeping, computer skills etc.  They cater meals for parties...thus, the girls learn table setting, cooking, planning and so forth.  We had a wonderful buffet dinner from everything from salad to roast beef and fried chicken to luscious desserts....all on china, crystal glasses and silverware.

They also have a new-used clothing store in the basement that people may come and get clothing for free.  They have a food pantry that is free to anyone who goes there and say they have no food to feed their family.  Third Phase is all donations and they work with county and state facilities.  They will exchange....say hand soap if they have plenty with another facility that has plenty of Bayer Aspirin.  They also have 3 bedrooms available to short term people who need a place to sleep.  This is used a lot when people are traveling and get stranded in our area because of car problems or snow storms.

The Lion's Club loves to go there because it is a beautiful place with a lot of history.  We know we will get great food to eat.  And our cost of the meal goes to a very worthy cause.  And it is private...only our club was there.

I didn't take notes to reply to all of you but know that I have read each post and my thoughts have replied and prayed for each post.

Jerry is on his way over here.  Tonight we are going to my son, Tony, and Charlene's for our Christmas together.  That is always a fun time.

I gave there teacher a special gift too CHEESEBALL & CRACKERS & some layered BATH ~ SALTS ( both recipes are found in here ) but with the BATH SALTS I just made it one color & the teacher really enjoyed it too.

Hello Everyone
I hope everyone is having a good day.
I received some sad news this morning from my Pastor via e-mail.  A man from our congregation named Mark was doing some machinery work last night outside his home and his right arm was cut off just below the elbow.  He was able to have the strength to get into the house and wake up his wife and she then called for the ambulance.  I just received word that he has come out of surgery and they were able to attach it (Praise God)  however he will not have the same use of it.  Mark owns his own landscaping company so obviously this is going to be very difficult for him.  He has a wonderful wife and three young children.  So I would appreciate if you all could think of Mark and his family in your prayers as they go through this difficult time.
Well I am off to the school to pick up my son and the other kids so I will talk to you all soon!
Pat.....I wondered when I read that on your welcome letter but no worries, we all make mistakes right???!!!!!

Trials and Pain: God Send Us Tears

For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even
weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end
is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in
their shame-who set their mind on earthly things.
--Philippians 3:18-19

The Bible was written in tears and to tears it will yield its best
treasures. God has nothing to say to the frivolous man....

The psalmists often wrote in tears, the prophets could hardly
conceal their heavyheartedness, and the apostle Paul in his
otherwise joyous epistle to the Philippians broke into tears when
he thought of the many who were enemies of the cross of Christ and
whose end was destruction. Those Christian leaders who shook the
world were one and all men of sorrows whose witness to mankind
welled out of heavy hearts. There is no power in tears per se, but
tears and power ever lie close together in the Church of the
First-born....

The whole Christian family stands desperately in need of a
restoration of penitence, humility and tears. May God send them
soon.
God Tells the Man Who Cares, pp. 2-3,6

"This being so, Lord, I pray this morning that You would break me
and send the tears. Amen."

 I Consider It a Service!
A preacher went into a Washington, D.C., barbershop, got his hair cut and asked how much he owed. "No charge, preacher," the barber said. "I consider it a service to the Lord." When the barber arrived at his shop the next morning, he found a dozen New Testaments on the stoop along with a thank you note from the preacher.

A few days later a police officer came in. "How much do I owe you?" the cop asked after his haircut. "No charge, officer," the barber answered. "I consider it a service to my community." The next morning the barber found a dozen doughnuts on the stoop along with a thank you note from the police officer.

A few days after that, a Senator walked in for a haircut. "How much do I owe you?" he asked afterward. "No charge," the barber replied. "I consider it a service to my country." The next morning when he arrived at the shop, the barber found a dozen Senators waiting on the stoop.

Questions
A father and son went fishing one day. After an hour out in the boat, the boy started asking questions of his father, "Dad, how does the boat float?"

Father thought for a moment, then replied, "I don't rightly know, son."

The boy thought for a few minutes and then asked, "Dad, how do fish breath underwater?"

Once again the father replied, "Don't rightly know, son."

A little later the boy asked, "Why is the sky blue?"

Again, the father replied. "Don't rightly know, son."

Worried he was going to annoy his father, he says, "Dad, do you mind my asking you all of these questions?"

"Of course not, son. If you don't ask questions ... you'll never learn anything!"

Somehow, not only for Christmas, But all the long year through, The joy that you give to others, Is the joy that comes back to you. And the more you spend in blessing, The poor and lonely and sad, The more of your heart's possessing, Returns to you glad.
--John Greenleaf Whittier

Hello, Everyone!  I am running behind here.  I have been busy getting prints resized and ordered. Done, finally! Until next time.  ;D

Troy is in Riverton swimming in the 200yd and 500yd events for the highschool swim team.

I better get off here. Feels like my life has evolved around this computer. :-\  Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Sue

Hello everyone.

Just stopped in to see what everyone is up to, and now must get busy with my laundry and other assorted chores.

Ruth Ann Bice

Well, this day is over. God gave me a wonderful blessing (enough to bring tears to my eyes) in the nature of a beautiful Christmas card from a lady 'way higher than me in the organization who thanked me for my christian spirit of love and helpfulness and put two very large bills inside it. Then, a nice Christmas lunch with my bosses.

Now, I'm tired and ready to rest.

Ruth Ann

Nita

Heh, everyone!!  How is your day going?  I'm just stopping in, along with you Sue,and you, Ruth Ann, to say hello and rush off again.

Pretty soon my daughter and I are going to our Walmart Superstore.  I have put this off as long as I could.  :)  The store is so big, that I get tired before we reach the other end.  There are some gifts I need to get, and the best price is there, so I'm making my move tonight.

Jane called me from California.  She is trying to get connected with all her family there before she comes back home, but she sure is wanting to get back to her own little place and space. :)  Sometimes I think the traffic here is getting bad; I can't imagine how it would be in Sacramento.

ok....I have just enough time to go look at some of Janet's pictures before Kim gets here and we leave for our shopping test. :)

Night everyone.

Janet

Ruth Ann, I'm praising God with you for the blessing He sent your way today!  He is SO good, He gives good gifts, and in good ways!  God is good, all the time; all the time, God is good.

Nita, I had been wondering where Jane was, so thanks for the update.  If you talk to her, give her my regards along with a big God bless you!  Yes, those huge Walmarts can wear you out, can't they?  Especially if it is a new one to you, and you don't know the layout of it.

Pat, where are you?  It's kind of lonely in here!

We are hoping for a good night's sleep tonight for a change.  Praying, too!

GRRRRRRRRR I am having a really bad day. My computer has not been working right and I had trouble getting online until now. Other stuff too. My car is in the shop I think it is the starter that went out it sounds like the Bendix Spring is borken, they could'nt get to my car toady so it won't be until  Monday that something can be done. It costs $71.39 per hour for labor. So you see it just isn't my day.

I am worrind about Fay and how she is going to get along until I can  get back to her. I think I will have to have my son take me to work, I hate to bother him though. Maybe he will let me use his car.

Ok I am going to look at Janet's photos and then get off the computer.

Hi everyone.  I am really late getting here tonight so I will be relatively brief.

This has been a day of frustration with computers for me and I have managed to put my desktop out of operation and installed some updated files for my laptop and now can't get online with it either so am writing using my old computer.  I am trying to hook up a two monitor video card for my desktop and had to switch video cards on my daughter's computer and my desktop.  Don't think I have her computer working correctly.  After I installed a replacement floppy disk drive and the video card on my desktop I tried to turn it on and it immediately quit.

My new friend, who is an electrical engineer and has built many computers, is going to come over tomorrow afternoon and see if he can get me fixed up.

Tomorrow morning we have a two hour choir practice with the orchestra that will accompany our choir on Sunday morning.  I heard yesterday that we will also be singing our cantata at the 8 am service but with just piano.

Tbear, I am sorry but I don't know of any free photo storage places.  I have homepage space provided with my ISP so haven't really looked for other storage.

Ruth Ann, that was a very nice gift and recognition.

Marilyn, sorry to hear of your problems with your computer and now with your car.  We don't need extra expenses at this time of the year.

Janet, sure hope both of you get a good night's sleep as it sounds like you will be having a busy day tomorrow.

Skief, glad to see your posting.  Travel is certainly an adventure anymore.  Your new camera sounds very nice.

I am glad that several of you enjoyed the Christmas version of 1 Cor. 13.  It was shared with me  so feel free to pass it on to others.

I better sign off for tonight.  I enjoyed everyone's postings.

Marilyn

I am signing off for tonight too. I think my computer will get straightened out by the cable company tech. They have to tell me how to get back on aol the same way as before.

Nite all.

Hi Everyone...

It's so nice to see what you've been doing today.

I popped in earlier and posted a message but it's gone off to cyberspace!  LOL  Doesn't happen to me very often but it did today.

I lay down on the couch a couple of hours ago to watch a little bit of TV and promptly fell asleep and just woke up!  LOL

Nice to see you Carrie.  Sorry about your church friend.  How absolutely horrible.  I'll be praying for him.

"Hark! How the bells
Sweet silver bells
All seem to say
Throw cares away.

Christmas is here
Bringing good cheer
To young and old
Meek and the bold

Ding dong ding dong
That is their song
With joyful ring
All caroling

One seems to hear
Words of good cheer
From everywhere
Filling the air

Oh how they pound!
Raising the sound
O'er hill and dale
Telling the tale

Gaily they ring
While people sing
Songs of good cheer
Christmas is here!"
Happy Holidays
