The Man Breaks Three Seals
[/b]

Revelation 6:2-6
Behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him; and he went out conquering, and to conquer...And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men should slay one another; and a great sword was given to him...and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.  And I heard as it were a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat ofr a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do noto harm the oil and the wine."

Each of these four horsemen represents a different judgement that will come upon the earth.  The first rider, on a white horse, has a bow, but notice he doesn't have any arrows.  His initial objective is to conquer peacefully.  Also, "a crown was give to him."  But his crown is merely a "victory's crown, " not a kingly crown; he receives authority from another.  But don't be deceived by the white horse: this man is evil.

The next rider, on a red horse, is granted permission to "take peace from the earth."  This speaks of war.  While he displays a semblance of dominance and control, such power will have a set duration.

The third rider, sitting atop a black horse, holds "a pair of scales in his hand."  This reveals that famine will accompany the war.  And when this verse describes "a quart of wheat for a denarius," it evokes the Jewish custom of measuring out bread by weight, which signifies that food is scarce (Leviticus 26:26)

Prayer-- Lord, please help me understand Your word.

Hey, Sonja, did you go along to Riverton?  We used to live just outside Riverton, 1/2 mile from St. Stephen's Indian Mission.  Our youngest was born in Riverton.

GOOD NIGHT!!!!

Sonifo

No, I didn't go with him.  He is with the team.  To long of a drive for me. :-\

My grandparents live there and a few aunts and uncles.  I wonder if we are related.  ;D hehehe..  ;) ;D

Good night, Ursula! ((hug))

O Little Town of Bethlehem
(Click to hear music)

Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you shall come for me one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.
Micah 5:2

Words: Phillips Brooks, 1867

Music: Lewis H. Redner, 1868

O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by.
Yet in thy dark streets shineth the everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the King, and peace to men on earth!

How silently, how silently, the wondrous Gift is giv'n;
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of His heav'n.
No ear may hear His coming, but in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him still, the dear Christ enters in.

Where children pure and happy pray to the blessed Child,
Where misery cries out to Thee, Son of the mother mild;
Where charity stands watching and faith holds wide the door,
The dark night wakes, the glory breaks, and Christmas comes once more.

O holy Child of Bethlehem, descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in, be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels the great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us, our Lord Emmanuel!

Trials and Pain: We May Expect Troubles

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In
the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have
overcome the world.
--John 16:33

We are all idealists. We picture to ourselves a life on earth
completely free from every hindrance, a kind of spiritual Utopia
where we can always control events, where we can move about as
favorites of heaven, adjusting circumstances to suit ourselves.
This we feel would be quite compatible with the life of faith and
in keeping with the privileged place we hold as children of God.

In thinking thus we simply misplace ourselves; we mistake earth for
heaven and expect conditions here below which can never be realized
till we reach the better world above. While we live we may expect
troubles, and plenty of them. We are never promised a life without
problems as long as we remain among fallen men....

What then are we to do about our problems? We must learn to live
with them until such time as God delivers us from them. If we
cannot remove them, then we must pray for grace to endure them
without murmuring. Problems patiently endured will work for our
spiritual perfecting. They harm us only when we resist them or
endure them unwillingly.
Of God and Men, pp. 121-122

"Lord, I'm so homesick for heaven. But until You allow me to come
home, I do indeed 'pray for grace to endure [problems] without
murmuring.' Amen."

Papa John

Good morning from Middle Tennessee on a cold 31 degree morning.

Well, just one week from today we have Christmas.  I am looking forward to having all of our daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren here for Christmas dinner.

Tonight Martha has her annual Christmas party when she entertains the faculty and administration of the school where she teaches.  So there is a lot of cooking and preparations going on today.  I just try to keep out of the way.

Pat:  I so enjoyed the music of Bells and now Little Town of Bethlehem.  Probably none of us will be able to visit there with all the problems they have.

Listening to the music, I am reminded of the news last night where a Santa uses sign language.  You should have seen the surpised and happy deaf children who walked up to him astonished that Santa could "speak" their language.  May we always be able to speak the language of understanding and faith.

Ruth Ann Bice

Good morning, friends,

Wow! I slept late today - what a nice luxury that is. Papa John, they are saying we may get a bit of snow tomorrow - brrrr.

I'm such a wimp in cold weather.

My daughter whisked in the door last evening just before she went to work. The hospital gives them a free turkey each year. So, she put it in my freezer. She'll bake it on Christmas Day while she's sleeping and while Leslie and I are returning from Atlanta. Then, we'll have our own little 3-person Christmas feast Christmas evening after she awakens.

Well, must go to the kitchen - my blood sugar level says it's time for a bit of breakfast. <grin>

Y'all have a wonderful day.

Ruth Ann

Marilyn

Good Morning, I am here is about all I can say about my state of mind today.

I wrapped allthe gifts last night and put them on the floor under the tree. I am still waiting for Amazon to deliver one more gift for Gilbert and Sarah then it will all be done, I have three boxes of cookies and plenty left over, I just remembered that I have to wrap up the cookies and jam too. Those go over to Sarah's parent's house on Christmas day.

I am hoping that Gilbert will loan me his car today so I can go take care of Fay and get her shopping done for her.

Well onward and upward with the day.

Good Morning All!
Just a quick hello.  Lots to do this weekend.  I have to be at my church for noon today as we are having a reception and handing out gift baskets we prepared for a Women's Shelter.  Tomorrow I am having my son's seventh birthday party for all his school friends so there is alot to do in preparation for that.  Of course there is also Christmas shopping still to do.  So busy, I better get off this computer and start getting to it!!
Have good weekend everybody!!

Jerry and I had a great time with Tony and Charlene.  First, Charlene couldn't find Jerry's gift under the tree.  She asked me if I wanted to help her find it so here we were both on our hands and knees until I realized...why am I down here?  I don't know what size it is, what it looks like and I can't read a tag anywhere?  But Charlene gave up and said that Jerry will get his Christmas present later when the bottom of the tree is emptied out of gifts.  So I was opening mine and Charlene looked inside the bag mine was in and THERE WAS JERRY'S GIFT!!!  So we both got wonderful gifts from Tony and Charlene and I think they will enjoy what we got them, too.

Then we got in their car and went to Charleston's for dinner.  Tony talked me into getting the Chicken Tenders.  Now I really like Chicken Tenders but I am still from the old school and I wasn't going to order them because of the price....$11.99 for the tenders and two sides!!!  Now I would pay that for fried shrimp but chicken tenders???????  But Charlene said....you are going to have the Chicken Tenders because we are paying for both of your dinners.  So we all had Chicken Tenders.  Truthfully, I think Arby's Chicken Strips are better and they are only $3.99 with a coupon.

But while we were sitting there, here comes the Mayor of Indianapolis and his wife in to have dinner.  They sat across from us.  Never saw the man before except on TV.  Kind of nice to have a celebrity close by.. ::)

Then we go back to Tony and Charlene's to chat for awhile until Tony was falling asleep and then Jerry and I came on home.  From my living room we can see a state highway and Jerry noticed some emergency vehicles with red/blue/white lights flashing.  Then I heard a noise and it was a helicopter.  We turned out the lights and saw the helicopter land withing a half mile from us.  It was there for a half hour and took off again.  Today I looked online and it stated that there was a fatality and one was lifted to Methodist Hospital in Indy.  I don't know how it happened though.

Things like this are always sad but at Christmas time, it is sadder.

Today is a do-nothing day.  Well, I have the second load of clothes in the dryer but I am not planning on going anywhere today.  Besides...it is 37°F but feels a lot colder than that when I took a letter to the mailbox earlier!

Papa John

Etta Sue, chicken tenders?  You know, I have never liked them.  I’m not sure why.  But I think that it is because as a boy I always liked fried chicken.  When we had fried chicken we would pick it up and eat it by hand.  There was a bone in there.  I liked to eat it and then get it right down to the bone.  Chicken tenders have no bones.

Ruth Ann, yes we may have a little snow.  I would like to have a White Christmas.

Hello!  It is cold here today!!!  We are going out in a bit to finish (hopefully) our Christmas shopping.

Right now, though, it is time to corral a little boy and get him dressed.  Probably easier to finish the shopping.  hahahahah

Take care, stay warm, enjoy the season!

Silent Night, Holy Night
(Click to hear music)

There were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord
appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them.
Luke 2:8-9

Words: Josef Mohr, circa 1816-1818.
Stanzas 1 & 3 translated from German to English by John F. Young, 1863;
translator of stanzas 2 & 4: anonymous

Music: Franz X. Gruber, circa 1820

Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!

Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love?s pure light;
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.

Silent night, holy night
Wondrous star, lend thy light;
With the angels let us sing,
Alleluia to our King;
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!

Papa John ~ Ha!  I like fried Chicken, too ...... but only my own or Kentucky Fried Chicken Original Recipe.  But I won't eat the legs.  Yuck!  Those bloody veins gross me out.  Besides I didin't know a chicken had white meat until I was married and moved out of the house.  Dad always got the pulley bone...remember them?  So since I was the youngest, I got what was left....the legs.  But I like Chicken Tenders/Strips because they DON'T have bones in them.   ;) ;)

I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox again.  IE was sooooo slow when I was on the CP site that it seems it took me forever to get done all I wanted to do.  So I am trying Firefox again.  If any of you have any shortcuts with Firefox, let me know!!!

Jane Walker

Hey there!!  I'm home, and very happy about that, except I am very tired -- make that near exhaustion -- from the stress filled daze in California and then added stress awaiting me at home!

I don't have much energy for being online today ... actually, I don't have much energy for anything!  Hopefully, I will regain some strength before long.

I need to update y'all on my biopsy report.  Of course everything is benign and I am only scarred a little bit and not hurting too much.  I called the doctor's office for the results on Tuesday.  The nurse said she'd have the doctor call me later (he was with a patient).  The only number I had to give her was my grandson's cell phone.  It rang while he was waiting at the DMV ... he phoned to Joy's cell phone to tell me the nurse wanted me to call back.  I did that and reached their voice mail.  Then I called again on Wednesday ... same result.  Bryan said there had been another message from the doctor's office and I was supposed to call them a.s.a.p.   When I called on Friday I got the voice mail again.  I proceeded to let them know I would be home this weekend and there was no number where they could reach me until then.  My grandson was getting frustrated with them calling.

I suppose I will call Monday morning ... this is getting tiresome.

Bryan will be starting HIS NEW JOB on Monday!  There are still a lot of hurdles to jump and problems to solve, but he has a job!

I'll try to get in here later and answer any questions you may have following this rather messed up post.

Y'all take care now ....

love, Jane
